Lunch a few days ago was a very nice surprise. Food is really good. I had coconut shrimp and they were legit. On par with what I've had on the coast of Florida. Sweet potato fries a surprise-crispy outside and fluffy inside. Easily shareable on the fries. Buddy had salmon salad and he was just as pleased. We sat outside as the weather was nice (and the music seemed loud probably because it was not so busy inside). In doing so, we were aware that service might be slow as there was only 1 server and bartender-she had to do both. Well, she was really good at checking on us. All in all, excellent place. First impression I walk in the door and there is a nasty sour type of smell. Then I noticed what looked like a portable AC until along the wall. I still wanted to give the place a chance...should have gone with first impression. Since it was still feeling a bit warm inside I decided to sit outside where at least a breeze was blowing . I was served my Mahi sandwich and fries. I am looking at the sandwich it...looks more like three Mahi "fish sticks". Flavor? Nope...very bland. I even tried putting ketchup on it to improve it. My sandwich was a very soggy mess. Realized the hard way I wasn't brought any napkins. So here I am outside wiping my face with my hands. So I had no choice but to go inside and ask for napkins...both hands soaking wet and who knows what was all over my face. Luckily while trying to enjoy the meal I was reading other reviews that mentioned a 5.25 % charge for non-cash payments. I had cash on me luckily. I still tipped the Bar tender/server because I also work off of tips and know all too well how it feels to not get tipped. Sorry but not coming back. read more

Had to stop by for cocktails and nosh. As our Tiki hearts were yearning for a Beach break after Christmas festivities. Cute beach bar in the heart downtown Plano . Nice bar with yummy food great Happy Hour M-F 3-7. Tiki Hubby and I shared 2 appetizers Coconut Shrimp and 1/2 order of nachos. One of the season drinks a spicy old fashion. Drinks server by a very nice bartender were perfect. Shrimp was cooked perfect with a spicy sweet dipping sauce. Pulled pork nachos 1/2 order was plenty with cheese there famous pulled pork sour cream, guacamole/ pico and a spicy sauce to dip. Not one bad bite or sip. We've tried to like this place but the smell inside is awful and the service has not been good. The food is ok but overpriced. Drinks same. Smells like sewage and the charging extra to use a credit card without telling you is also surprising. The music is always blasting hard rock which seems off for a beach vibe place. Came here for a drink and ordered 2 Cadillac margaritas. Not only did it take 20+ minutes to make them in a place that was not busy (Friday around 1/1:30pm - 5 people tops), the process of making it was not your way you'd expect. His first go, he split it between the two glasses and it did not fill it up so he went another round to make the mix and then add it to the two glasses. Again, it did not fill up either glass, but still handed it to us. I have never seen someone mix a marg, not make enough and have to mix another round and blend the two attempts. A lot to like about Coco Beach and a few things that could be better. Most of what wasn't ideal is tied to staff interactions and I grant it may have been an off day. However. Like: Lunch specials - good prices, especially in an inflationary market. Don't like: Server didn't attempt to explain lunch sandwich options. Didn't mention lunch specials at all. Like: I had the mahi mahi sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was delicious. Like seriously delicious. Don't like: We wanted iced tea. Or a Coke Zero. We were told they only had water, coke and sprite. Later when we were handed a menu we saw they served iced tea. And Diet Coke was an option too. So that was odd. After waiting 15 minutes after our plates were cleared (we were one of just three occupied tables for lunch), I finally went to the server and asked for our check. When our receipt came, there was no space to sign, leave a tip, etc. It turns out the system was not working properly. That happens, but why not tell us this? It was a very strange service experience start to finish which really took away from the deliciousness of our food. read more

LOOK OUT for the 5.75% credit card fee added to your bill!! We were shocked!! It was not listed anywhere on the menu that they would charge a credit card payment fee. Ambience was ok, sports bar/ slight tiki bar feel to it. We ordered the coconut shrimp, pork sliders and blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was good and came out pretty fast. I asked for MR on burger, it was more like medium/ medium well... not pink at all. For drinks we had the seasonal spiced old fashion and the house margarita. I felt my margarita wasn't strong enough so I ordered an extra shot to put in it. Service was ok. Server, who was also the bartender seemed disinterested in serving us. No smile, a smile goes along way. We felt as if we were an inconvenience to her. We were the only table there and no one at the bar except a couple people who appeared to be a couple of employees or friends. Wanted to love this place as we were excited to try a new spot near our home, but the crazy high credit card fee along with staff disinterest in serving us makes it a hard sell. read more

Best late-night spot in Plano, hands down. I was expecting "bar food," but was pleasantly surprised and shocked when I got my food. This place serves quality, fresh food and has a really nice atmosphere. Helena was our bartender, and she really made our experience special. I couldn't decide between the ceviche and the crab cake, so she let me try the ceviche since it was our first time. It's rare to find that kind of customer service these days. The atmosphere is fun Definitely a drinking spot vs eating spot. Avavado toast came with a spread vs fresh avocado. Almost certain it was a spread that is premade or tastes premade. This place has potential, but still needs a lot of work. The drinks are hit or miss. The Morning in Paradise was good, but their Mai Tai was very meh - it could really use a Jamaican dark to make it more authentic. The food was really good. One bartender was good, the other seemed very green & unfamiliar with the drinks. Not really a fan of the juke box, especially since whoever loaded the juke decided to play a bunch of club music, which completely killed the vibe. I was really disappointed to see this space sit vacant for so long. I moved to Texas from a Florida beach town, so while it doesn't resemble any tiki bar I went to there, the beach theme decor is homey and sentimental at the same time. Get the panko crusted chicken tenders if you want to share a meal. I was too busy eating and forgot to take a picture but it is 6 generous strips and three surprisingly delightful! My partner had Morning in Paradise and I had a Peach Bellini, both were delicious. Give this place a shot! Happy to have them here in the neighborhood! read more

We were happy to hear a tiki bar had opened in Plano. We had visited Swizzle for my husband's birthday in 2022 and this year, we just didn't want to go all the way to Lower Greenville in Dallas for the birthday celebration. So for his birthday Thursday, we visited Coco Beach. The food and drinks are good. No complaints there. And I think has we gone for lunch instead of dinner, I would have no complaints at all. Because the waitress we had for the first approximately 15 minutes we were there was fine. But she told us they would be changing shifts soon and she did leave before we were done. The problem is the second waitress never came to our table at all. Had she done so we would have ordered a second drink for my husband and dessert for both of us. Also, not complaining as I am just as happy to find a beach themed restaurant in Plano, Texas as I was a tiki bar in Dallas last year. Beach themed restaurants that aren't specifically seafood are fairly common in California where I lived until two years ago but this was the first I had seen in Texas. But Coco Beach is a beach themed restaurant, not a tiki bar. read more

I happen to be in Plano TX for a business trip and I stumbled across a quaint little tiki bar with great food. I was able to watch the NCAA final while sitting at the bar enjoying some exotic cocktails. The atmosphere made me feel like I was on vacation . Definitely coming back !! read more

Cute little place in downtown Plano. Unfortunately, the drinks were not good at all. Had some mojitos and margaritas and they tasted like flavored lemonade. Very light on alcohol too. Definitely no fresh lime or muddled mint in the mojitos. Everything tasted very artificial and from a mix. Far too expensive too for the quality of drinks there. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but, given the quality of drinks, will probably not return. read more

Not sure how this place is getting such great reviews. 4 of us stopped in last night based on the reviews for dinner and drinks. We arrived @ 6:30 and surprisingly were the only people in the restaurant. We just figured it was due to the cold and being "early". The first thing we noticed was the over abundance of plug in's and candles as if they were trying to cover up something. After ordering drinks - we order what seemed to be fairly simple meals, Teriyaki burger, surfs up chicken sandwich, mahi tacos with soup & the pulled pork grilled cheese. We watched 3 of the meals just sit in the window before we asked to have them delivered. Which as I stated above was cold. About 7:45 others started to arrive for the bar service which was great except the music became incredibly loud we were unable to have a normal conversation at the table. Definitely not coming back but I hope they can get the kinks worked out. read more

The environment is so fun and they always have local sports on. After a long day of work I enjoy spending time here. I've met the owner Jackie and she runs the best spot in Downtown Plano. This is the most trashy bar in downtown Plano , girls up in the bar shaking their ass, girls wearing small clothes. It's not been one time thing, it's been a multiple girls up shaking ass in general. Consider this being a "beach bar" it's more goth than anything & will not be taking my family or kids here. I've given this place multiple chances and the service is always horrible not to mention all the bartenders are more worried about other people that work around than the new customers. Seems like the owner does not care about what goes on, bartenders drinking while on the clock, I go on and on. Honestly I'm surprised this place is still open, but not for that long. Frozen French fries stale, out of date and overcooked like empty insect husks. Pork sliders are all bread - - combine all 4 to make one mediocre slider. Sirloin burger Ok alone but fries sucked. Bartender mostly interested in serving the other employees who work there but we're off shift partying. Owner clearly not around, doesn't care and it is destined to fail. Walk around downtown Plano but take your money elsewhere. You've been warned. 2 stars is being kind. read more
