Welp, I've finally tried Maru Ramen. After saying ive wanted to try it for the last almost 3 years lol. I love the ambiance of this place. it has the vibe of a mom and pop restaurant, which is what i love. The service was great, im terrible with names, i have no idea who helped me. But he was very attentive and helped me pick out my ramen being yhat it was first time being here. I can say ive tried different ramen places and this definitely one of my favorite and i will definitely being coming back. P.s. the pork buns were really good, I tried pork buns at another restaurant and they were cold. But these were not, the buns was soft and warm. The slice of pork was good and tender.

We got the: spicy edamame- delicious shrimp and veggie tempura- amazing, hot & fresh, had a great texture pork gyoza - so fresh and delicious Tonkotsu ramen - incredible, bold flavor 10/10 recommend due to great food, service was super fast and the place was really cozy and quaint.
The food here is delicious, but plan to come here on a weekday late in the afternoon when they aren't busy. We came during the Lunar New Year celebrations when the City of Richardson was having a festival in the Chinatown plaza where this restaurant is located. The restaurant was packed! We sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes before a table cleared. Once seated, we ordered drinks and foods immediately, but waited at least an hour for our hakata noodle ramen to show up. The food was delicious, but the wait was so long, we missed the entire festival taking place outside. It was chilly inside. Our table was near the kitchen and the front door, but even when the door wasn't open, it was quite cool inside. I'm guessing they had the air circulating for the wait staff and kitchen crew who were probably hot from running around all day serving everyone. It wouldn't have been so bad if we could have received our ramen sooner so that we could warm our insides with hot broth. The food was delicious, well my spicy tonokata was delicious. It was flavorful without being so spicy that your nose started running. lol! The hakata noodles were plentiful and delicate enough that you could break them without slurping continuously for five minutes. Ha ha ha! Seriously, I was super happy with the tangled nest of noodles. There were a lot! That made me very happy. Waitstaff were nice, apologetic about the wait, good about refilling our drinks on a regular basis. Price was about $44 with drinks. Not cheap, but average for the area. I would come back, but definitely in the off season.

FOOD Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - Great dish overall! The ramen noodles are great consistency that had a bit of chewiness and bounce to it (Sapporo Noodles). The dish was a bit on the spicier side but perfect for colder weather. Broth was super yummy and not too salty. The chashu was super tender and yum. The egg was a bit more on the cooked side so the yolk was not runny but it still had great taste! Presentation is also very nice. Definitely recommend this place! VIBES Seating consists of chairs and tables as well as long wooden benches. Tables are great size and fit food well. I didn't feel squished and layout gives nice space. Decorations are nice! A bit more on the casual atmosphere side but great for eating with friends, meetups, family meals, and pretty much any occasion to get ramen. SERVICE Service was great! They checked in on us often and refilled water quickly. No complaints here!
Cute and cozy spot! Interesting seats, not necessarily comfortable. They give you two options to choose for the noodles. Ramen is fairly bland, something is missing in the broth. I was able to fix it by requesting some of the spicy paste they offer. Servers are not that attentive unfortunately.
hands down my favorite ramen stop in all of dfw (to my taste) my go to is the shoyu ramen with hakata noodles and woooow it's mouthwatering. and just when i thought nothing could get better than the ramen and pork gyoza, i recently got the chicken tonkatsu and WHOA! best ever. will be coming back very soon to indulge myself again. service is always well mannered, helpful, and quick. ambience is cool and i love the seating options
A clean and comforting aesthetic right as you walk in. Great service, and a fun variety of food options. We got an appetizer of pork buns, and the texture combination was perfect. Soft bun and chashu with a delicious crunch of carrot and cucumber. The vegetables and soy glaze added a hint of sweetness to the char of the chashu. The ability to choose your noodle type was something I love because my husband likes thick curly noodles (Sapporo style) while I love the thin noodles (Hakata). Thick slices of chashu and a light flavorful Tonkotsu broth. Between my spicy tonkotsu and my husbands black garlic tonkotsu, his garlic ramen would be our suggestion.
Man, oh man, were my expectations high based on the amount of reviews I thought I was in for a treat ! I'm leaving hungry and disappointed! Let's start with the edamame. We ordered spicy.. they threw crushed red peppers on it and called it a day. What the heck is that? The ribs were overcooked, and well, yeah, you can see the photo. Now, the ramen.... It has 0 taste. Like, if you purchase the boxed ramen broth at the grocery store, throw noodles in, that's what you just paid for. The chashu was disgustingly cold and so chewy it felt like rubber with again 0 taste. The ambiance is alright, quiet, and the seating isn't too bad , spread out and decent. The service was eh, nothing special and nothing poor.
Just stumbled across this place while trying to find a place to eat dinner on vacation. It was absolutely delicious! We had the black garlic ramen, pork buns, tonkatsu ramen & shoyu ramen. All the broth was full of flavor. Pork bun was delicious with crisp vegetables for a crunch. The gyoza dipping sauce was perfect.
Pretty decent ramen. I think the flavor is there and there's not too much going on in the bowl, which I liked. The menu is simple and the atmosphere is cozyish. Service is okay- I think they're all students. Worth trying if you're nearby!

DISCLAIMER - I have dietary restrictions and allergies, which may have contributed to my experience at this restaurant. Prior to driving there, I call the restaurant to ask if they could accommodate me -- and they said yes. I got the chicken ramen and subbed for katsu protein, shrimp tempura, karaage and milk tea and my friend got the black garlic ramen. The karaage came out tossed in a an acidic sauce with sesame seeds -- almost like saucy wings. This caught me off guard because the menu does not indicate it would be covered in sauce -- and we didnt want it sauced. Shrimp tempura had 3 shrimps and the rest vegetables. Another surprise because the menu listed shrimp tempura as an item on its own, and then another line item for vegetable tempura. My assumption is this is a cost saving approach -- and while I have no problem with that, transparency would be good for customers. Just list out what is included in the dish so no one is surprised. The ramen was disappointing. The broth came out clear (like water -- i wouldnt dare compare it to pho because pho broth is packed with flavor). There was absolutely no flavor. It was the only ramen on the menu that I could have (again not what I was told when I called). I asked for soy sauce, chili oil and even dumped the leftover sauce from my tempura into the liquid broth and still it could not be saved. The black garlic broth was also bland. Neither of us finished the meal. Service was slow, only one girl working the entire dining room, (it was a weekend so packed). We waited for a while, they forgot my milk tea and it was impossible to flag the waitress until the very end. The only plus, they are extremely generous with the eggs. read more

My first two experiences at Maru Ramen were positive but the last couple of times I have came here; I have been incredibly disappointed with the service and food. The last time I came to have a bowl of ramen, my boyfriend and I were looked at as we walked in then ignored for a couple of minutes. When someone did help us, we were sat at a dirty table when there were other tables available. I kindly asked to be moved to another table and they were not happy with my request, but they did move me. We ordered some fried gyoza (which was delicious) but the dipping sauce was not good at all. It felt like they just poured old soy sauce into a bowl. The ramen noodles and brother were amazing, but the pork belly could be worked on. Despite not having a great experience this past time, the restaurant is modern and clean. The tables are unique as they are are all wood; but the only downside of everything is how close they are together. You have a difficult time pulling out the benches if there is another party behind you. read more
Great ramen and excellent hot teas. It was cold and wet outside and my wife was a bit under the weather and this place hit the spot. It's in a very Asian influenced shopping center, and the reviews make this place standout. Decor-minimalist at its finest, haha. These people did not spend much on decor, and the people keep on coming, so the food must be good. Service-was ok, nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Food-solid Ramen and Gyoza, but what I really liked was the hot teas. The Grapefruit and honey teas was amazing and I would get it again in a heartbeat. All in all, good place with solid food options. read more

When I first stepped into the restaurant I was amazed by how beautiful the decorations are and how the place is such an amazing vibe. The waitress does an amazing job of serving you and checking on you throughout your time there and the food is even better. The food is served so fresh and hot with an immaculate flavor to it, every bite has a burst of flavor within. This is definitely my go to ramen spot! read more
Solid bowl of spicy tonkotsu that definitely numbed my tongue with each additional slurp! It may not look it but don't be fooled, the spicy tonkotsu is definitely quite spicy! The takoyakis were one of the best also! I went with a group of 4 and the servers handled our split bills wonderfully. Right now they're running a special where if the table orders $80+ then you get a gift (for the table) which was a nice surprise! read more

Walked in the restaurant on Friday night and it was busy. Ended up waiting 30 minutes to be seated. There was a party after us that was seated first then us which was fine since we were seated right after but our table wasn't wiped down. We were seated and we gave our order and drinks since we were waiting so long we knew what we wanted. Almost 10 minutes later still waiting for our drinks the appetizers came. The pork buns were bland do not recommended. They taste like I was biting into just cucumber. The gyoza was not crispy but soft like it was left out and also it was cold when we bite into it. Which makes me think someone ordered it and didn't take it or they made multiple and waited for someone to order it. Flavoring for the pork was okay. When we received the appetizers another server came and asked if we got water which I stated no we got soda which we got two minutes later. This was to the point where I knew they did not care not once did someone ask if we needed anything. Also the appetizers were given and 2 minutes later we got our ramen. Not enough time was given to at least finish our food. The ramen was okay. Very mild flavoring not enough broth. There was a good amount of noodles but you could not use the spoons to get any broth since there was barely any. Overall this was a disappointing experience it felt more in and out service eat quick and leave. read more
Of course...I wanted Ramen and I saw good reviews here when looking on yelp in search for a place. I was immediately seated and given water which I killed. I guess my body was like 'BOUT TIME' you hydrate me. Por server refilled that glass about 5 times...so much so, I apologized. Lol. She was cool with it though. Now the food; 3 stars because I wanted a more "punch" in the broth. I got the spicy tonkotsuz but it wasn't spicy and the Chashu was a little too tough for my liking. I appreciated that they allowed me to sub the value of my omitted egg for something else, so major props for that. I checked in yelp and got free pork Buns (which were good) and the gyozas were good too. I ate everything, and was satisfied. I'd return and try something different. read more
Average ramen and good service. It's in a convenient location with ample parking. It's a basic ramen shop, but don't expect deep flavors in your soup. Miso and tonkotsu soup were basic and noodles average. You know you are eating ramen, but you probably won't be dreaming about the soup and pork chashu. The inside is very modern and clean with plenty of light and small tables perfect for small groups. I would not order the takoyaki as I've had it better elsewhere. read more

The wife and I stumbled on this place while caught in a heavy rainstorm. We couldn't imagine a better pit stop - tasty, warm ramen. Our server was a very pleasant and attentive young man and the ambiance was modern, cute, and clean. The ramen was excellent, with good proportions and we appreciated the tea eggs which had been seasoned with soy sauce and cooked to a perfect soft boil. The gyoza was nice and crispy and the fried chicken was very well seasoned with a light ginger glaze Highly recommend! read more

We tried Maru Ramen first time today. I ordered pork buns, spicy tonkotsu and creamy miso. The food is good. I really like my spicy tonkotsu ramen. My wife got miso, but she like my tonkotsu more than her miso ramen. If you live In Richardson area, I definitely recommend Maru ramen. read more
