Update: manager contacted us and there was a mix up on the order. She was very quick to address and resolve my issue. We come to this place once a month for take out usually either the medium or small size is our go to (great for home hot pot). Today we ordered a medium pot and the size was clearly smaller than usual. After spending a few minutes talking to the staff who reassured us this was medium so we just left. Then we get home, as we literally ordered a medium pot last week, this was clearly smaller than what we had last week. We even took out a container ordered a while ago for small which is the exact same size as the one we got today which is supposed to be a medium. It even feels lighter.... My friends have been asking me to go to B2J for a while, but I've been avoiding it because sauerkraut fish soup sounded weird to me and it seemed expensive. I'm glad that I finally tried it though. My favorite part about this place was all the side dishes. They were all very high-quality and delicious. It was the first time I tried 1000 year-old egg. The presentation was beautiful and the Szechuan added a nice kick to it. The fried pork belly was crispy outside and still juicy inside. The fried bean curd was perhaps my favorite; a lightly breaded crispy exterior with a delicately soft interior. When you order the fish soup, you get to choose additional ingredients to add inside. We picked little mushrooms, wide noodles, and green leafy veg. The mushrooms were so small that they kind of got lost in the soup so I probably wouldn't recommend those. However, the wide noodles were excellent with a nice chewy texture. The soup itself was sour but not as sour as I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise. Next time I would like to try the combination, fish and beef soup. The homemade milk mochi was amazing. You cannot skip this dessert. 5-stars. Honestly I've never had this dish before and it was really good. Even though the description for the signature spicy and sour flavor soup says spicy and sour, the taste is pretty mild. Not too sour or spicy just in between. It reminds of the Vietnamese mustard green soup. Definitely recommend getting the combo set with two sides and two add ons. For the sides/appetizers we got the cucumber salad, chicken with chili sauce, and the house made fried milk custard. We ended up getting a small combo that feeds two people for about 60 bucks, and it was a lot of food. we got one bowl of fish with two toppings (a-choy root and lotus root), along with two side orders dished and two bowl of rice. for the side orders, we got one black fungus salad and another one was the fried pork belly dish. Both were delicious and i actually enjoyed the black fungus dish a lot more.... in fact it was so good, i put some of the sauce on top of the rice and it was like crack. i don't know how they make the sauce for the black fungus salad, but its refreshing, zesty and overall delicious. As for the fish pot, you can pick from 3 different flavors. we went with the classic signature spicy sour, but you have the option to pick spicy flavor or the tomato flavor. The spicy sour flavor is spicy due to the peppercorns and red chili, and the soup base was intense in flavor. the service was great and they were attentive and came by asking if we need anything else. this is located in the 99 ranch market strip plaza, and don't let the exterior fool you, the interior is actually very nice.
