Yu's diner is under new management and is now a Chinese BBQ/Skewer restaurant now calling itself 客串江湖. We came on a Saturday around 8 p.m. It was absolutely packed when we arrived, but we only had to wait 10-15 mins to be seated. There's a waitlist where you can leave your phone number, and they'll call back when your table is ready. They've completely redecorated the interior - there's plenty of seating, it's brightly lit, and there were some nice beats playing. Maybe it's because they recently reopened, but the service was horrendously slow. We ordered a lot of skewers, so I won't list them, but I will say that we waited an hour and a half for all of our food to come out. Unfortunately, the taste was between very mediocre and borderline bad. Most of the meat skewers were cold, everything else was at least edible, and the sweet pork was super dry and drenched in sauce.

Food was AMAZING!! So good, I forgot everything we ordered. Great place for skewers! Got the sweet and sour pork, so crispy even after all the sauce. There's Chinese music playing the background and nice clean designs on the wall. Service was a little choppy just cuz a little bit of language barrier but had no issues whatsoever ordering! Highly recommend, atmosphere is cozy and the lighting is perfect for a date night!

    Yu's have rebranded.

I recently revisited Yu's Asian Diner and was surprised to find that it has undergone a full rebrand, possibly under new ownership or under new management since their old Yelp page is now "closed" The interior has been totally updated with a fresh, new look, and they do play music, giving the place a livelier vibe. They've expanded the menu to include skewers as well as other additions while still keeping the classic American Chinese favorites and lunch specials (now about $2 more). I will definitely need to comeback not just for lunch special now as they have new items on the menu.

The sign says Yu's, but Yu's is gone . I've been eating here for 10 years. Back when the specials were $4.99. They must have sold and I miss them. Old Yu's only used white meat. Today I had Sesame chicken popcorn chicken in a very thick sweet sauce. It wasn't great. The big pieces were weird . Old Yu's had yellow fried rice with fresh onions, carrots and peas. Now fried rice is white rice with lots of soy sauce and peas. Think St. Louis style but not as well done. Old Yu's had hand rolled spring rolls with a homemade citrus ginger sauce- it was so good! These egg rolls were flavorless and could have been frozen. Please steam that broccoli, it was fresh off the salad bar crispy. It you are gonna buy the place, buy the recipes too. Slapping black paint and red led lights on the walls does not make you better. It just made you $3 dollars more expensive for nothing. Can't trust a Chinese place without a waving Luck Cat anyways.

    General Tso's Chicken

Unfortunately, this place was a miss. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Chicken Egg Roll and the Vegetable Egg Roll. The General Tso's Chicken was WAY too crispy (like rock-hard) and so breaded you could barely taste the chicken at all. And the sauce almost tasted like ketchup? The cashew chicken wasn't much better. The sauce had no flavor, and the cashews were all burnt. The spring rolls were super mushy and didn't come with any sauce. The fried rice had no veggies or egg in it. Just a few pieces of peas and soy sauce. If you're looking for a Chinese spot, there are so many better options in the area. Unfortunately we won't be ordering from here again.

Dined in and had the skewers. Coming back to try the crawfish. Buy 2 lbs, get one free. Fantastic. Will be back!

seasoned chives, shrimp skewers, black pepper skewers. (we also had pork belly skewers not shown in picture)

i have always loved Yu's diner even before the rebrand. my boyfriend brought me here on our first date 3 years ago and we've always made it our spot. then it went through a rebranding and we loved it even more. our server is always the same guy and he is always so kind! yes it sometimes gets busy but we are not impatient people and we love the ambiance! OH AND THE FOODDDD! The food is always amazing! I bring my sister along since she enjoys it so much as well! It is filled with so much flavor, there is never nothing we don't love here! We have been coming here for three years and will be coming for many more years to come! Thank you Yu's for always giving us a wonderful experience, food, and memories!

Skewers are good especially the fish maw, lamb, and gizzard. The lunch special fried rice is also worth it.

They are so slow. Food was promised at 9:02 and 15 minutes later still waiting. This has happened twice. Will not be going here again.

And the food is authentic. Hot Hong Kong milk tea and French toast are my favorite breakfast items and that's exactly what I got. If I were in Hong Kong, I would get them in the morning. But I wouldn't mind having them any time of the day! The milk tea was great. I liked the aromatic, bold black tea. It was fairly creamy and smooth. The French toast was delicious also. Fried golden brown, it was toasty on the outside, and nutty, buttery (with peanut butter filling) on the inside. I liked the condensed milk drizzled on top, instead of syrup, which I normally use at home. They also have other Hong Kong style dishes, like the baked cutlet pork chop with rice, fish fillet in creamy white sauce, and iconic street foods like curry fish balls, radish, and pork rinds (yummy!) This place is fully decorated with so many Hong Kong street items, like the big wall pictures of busy, beautiful city views, signs of major streets, shop signs, etc. If you're not from Hong Kong, they may not mean too much to you. But if you are, they're invariably nostalgic. If you want a delightful experience of Hong Kong food and ambience, come give it a try.

We liked the beef flat noodles, texture was nice and beef was good. The pork chop was good and reminded me of eggs rice and ketchup as a kid. I have nothing to compare it to but I think from what I've heard similar to what you would have in an HK cafe. Overall solid option.

I'm glad the staff are knowledgeable about the place they work, and the energy surrounding the place is nice too. Peaceful and quiet chatter amongst others and no unpleasant noises or disturbances. The food is definitely something to praise too. I always end up eating nearly 2-3 all you can eat plates of bulgogi myself, their shrimp, and la galbi (beef short rib) are quite nice too. But the side dishes are my absolute favorite! Although the chicken and dipping sauces aren't something to fuss over, they're not horrible. Top recommendation: Bulgogi, la galbi & side dishes I'm looking forward to coming back again, and hopefully (unlike the many times before) I leave room for dessert! The yakgwa sundae looks promising.

As regular patrons of hot pot for date night, bf and I decided to try this place…read more I'll sort by pros and cons as I see it related to other hot pot places we've had: PROS: - Hot pot and BBQ grill at the same time for the same price! Great value there - Fairly large vegetable/noodle/etc bar - Waiters were incredibly attentive - All meats tasted high quality CONS: - No true "sauce bar"--I kind of tried to replicate my usual combo using the salad supplies and sauces - The meats are clearly made for either the grill or the pot 80% of the time with very few that can do both. For example, pork belly (grill) is different from THIN pork belly (pot). Beef belly worked best in the pot. Chicken worked best on the grill. Etc - Beef broth I got for my hotpot was decent but worse than most pork bone broths I default to For the same price as Seapot, I'd still personally prefer Seapot. But I think this place does best a lot of competition like Nan and Hai Di Lao. Give it a try for sure.

I love the customization aspect & wondered if it would be seasoned well. To my pleasant surprise it was delicious and didn't need any seasoning at all added. What's even more impressive is the owner came over several times to check on us, brought us extra items such as more napkins, more milk for my Vietnamese coffee and extra utensils. This speaks volumes when owner/mgr comes by and takes their time speaking with me as well as getting feedback. I'm headed back there again today and have already told several friends about it.
