Color me surprised. Before this location move, I had found them to be overhyped and a major disappointment but this move has changed them for a complete 180. It was peak lunch rush but despite our hour long stay, there was constantly a line to the door. After ordering we waited for around 15-30 minutes for our food, depending on what we got. Fortunately, my friend and I were sharing everything ordered so we got to enjoy the dishes coming out individually like a course meal before getting overwhelmed by the third plate coming out with our slow pace in eating. The steak with bao sliders were incredibly addictive to eat that we were sad to have run out of delicious vehicles to wrap the steak and toppings in. Two minor things I could critique on is being able to wipe down the tables or having an employee dedicated to bussing tables and only having 2 bathrooms that you're out of luck wanting to wash your hands if 2 customers decide to take 10 minutes to do their business. read more

This resturant is very frequently busy, but my party happened to come at a good time on Wednesday for lunch. There is a huge lot for parking, so that was not an issue! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside the restaurant. The resturant is beautiful and you can see the Vietnamese Mexican fusion in the decor and murals on the wall. The resturant also appeared clean and well maintained. Service was great and speedy. You order at the counter and they will bring your order out to you. The lady at the cash register was able to give advice on what to order and was very friendly. However, I didn't end up liking my food that much. I got the veggie dumpling, which have a soy protein in them. I wasn't aware of this and wouldn't have ordered, had I known. The egg rolls were just okay and pretty oily for me. Overall great experience! Friendly staff and good vibes! The interior decor is very pretty with hand drawn arts - a mix of both Viet and Mexican! Got there at around 7pm on a Wednesday. No lines and with only 60% of the tables were filled. We got Lychee Peach Tea, Carne Asada Bahn Mi, Phorrito. Here are my thoughts: - Lychee Peach Tea: 3.5 / 5 Too sweet but there's potential. After a few missed opportunities over the years, I finally got to try Cris & John! Didn't realize they relocated since the last time I was in Dallas. Restaurant & parking look more spacious. I can't even tell you how much I love this place, and I can't believe I only discovered it after living in the area for over five years! I grew up in Los Angeles, basically the mecca of fusion food, especially Asian and Latino food, so I know good fusion food. This place is off the charts! I always get the pho-burrito and split it with my husband because it's huge. We get the brisket version, and it is insanely good. The meat is perfectly seasoned, and you can actually taste all those complex Vietnamese flavors in the burrito. The quality is superb, too. Everything is so fresh and colorful and just bursting with flavor. There are so many complex flavors going on, but they all work together beautifully. You can tell there's real care put into the food. I've also had the horchata, our kids get the pho, and we've loved everything we've tried there. The service is excellent. I also love seeing such a diverse crew, and everyone is genuinely helpful and friendly. The place gets busy, but they move quickly and clean tables quickly too. And the atmosphere is so much fun. It's colorful and lively, with vintage posters and touches from both Vietnam and Mexico throughout. Absolute wonderful time at Cris & John's. Started with about a 15 minute wait, where the lady brought us menus in line. Then we were seated so quickly once we ordered. The angry pho platter was perfect for our first time. Definitely gave us a mixture of the viet mex fusion. The short rib bao buns were 10/10. Now with the new location the food has remained top notch with a large spacious atmosphere that is inviting and full of character. Fusion themes don't always work, but this restaurant executes it so well. The fusion Vietnamese and Mexican flavors permeate each dish to perfection. Tried the phoritto and birra platter today and really loved it. The phoritto - combination pho and a burrito, is perfectly seasoned and comes with a flavorful dipping sauce. It was so bomb! The fries were somehow still crispy even though it's tossed in this delicious sauce! Meat was tender and melt in your mouth good! I also loved the burger! We cut pieces so we can all try the different dishes, and I kept cutting pieces of the burger! I've also been on a burger kick lately to try to find the best burger and this one is high up the list! It was surprisingly hot for a good 15 mins. The meat was well seasoned and the onion, cheese meat and sauce all blended so well. Little bit salty and a little bit sweet with the grill onions. The wings were also crispy with this nice sweet chili sauce! Cooked to perfection! I really liked the curry pho! It's a green curry with a little kick to it. They have quite a few different vegan options and this is a dish that can be made vegan. You can dip the Birria tacos in this pho consume which is so fire! But the second I had a bite of my partner's Viet Shaking Beef Burrito, all bets were off--I was hooked on my first bite. I've been to Cris & John since they were at the original location. I've tried a lot of dishes from them, while some were bad (such as bo la lot), there are still some that are pretty good. This time, I got the Phorrito and the Angry pho with brisket, along with a horchata. The horchata was delicious and refreshing, it had a lot of cinnamon flavor but I wish the drink could be more creamy. The phorrito was great and I love the broth they gave on the side. I think it's a bit more concentrated than the regular broth they use for pho. The pho itself was good, it's not your traditional Viet pho you get outside, it's more of a fusion pho where the broth isn't clear at all. If you're coming here for the first time, I would recommend trying out the platters so that you could try out more food all at once! read more

Met up with some friends and was looking forward to trying something different. When I pulled up I was happy to see that they have a private parking lot with plenty of parking space. As I walked up I noticed that they have outside seating available (although with the pollen, today that wasn't even an option for me). As I got inside there was a nice little crowd and there was some confusion as to if we sit and order or order and sit however I caught the sign which let us know we order and sit and they bring the food to you. They have a lot of things on the menu to choose from and they even have platters which can feed multiple people. I went with the egg rolls, the potstickers, and the rice plate adding beef belly. The guy tried to talk me into the saltado de carne however I didn't want the fries, so I went with what I ordered. I also got a peach lychee drink. Found a seat and the food came quickly! The egg rolls were my least favorite as it lacked flavor for me. I love potstickers (Mandu), these were okay, however once I was looking for something besides soy sauce to dip them in. The saltado de carne reminded me of bulgogi however has some tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers on the side. The rice was a little dry for me. My friend liked the peach lychee. For me it was sweet, where undiluted it with water. It also had chunks of I'm assuming lychee in the bottom (think boba). Overall it was a good meal. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. I had been wanting to come here for so long and i finally made it! I was worried there would be a long wait but there was not at all. We got there at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. You order your food up front then go sit down and they bring everything out to you. I didn't love having to order upfront and then sit down and that's mostly because the decision was really hard on what to order cause everything sounded and looked amazing. I will say the food all came out really quickly and they were really good about finding where all the food went. We ordered a bunch of different plate plates at my table and everything was so good. I ordered the Elote, sweet chili wings, and ginger chicken tostadas, as well as the vanilla cookie Matcha. I took home a lot of leftovers and everything reheated great. This was not what I expected. I say that because is was way better. So much variety and the flavors were amazing. The team there there was helpful with recommending stuff on my first visit. The seats are metal and no super comfortable, but it fits the atmosphere of street food and eating outside, so I wouldn't change a thing there. The places fills up by noon weekdays, so plan ahead. Sooo happy that they have a new spot because the old one, the wad not cutting it lol.. and honestly.. this one is pushing it too! Throughout the years the quality and flavor of their food has definitely improved immensely! My favorite dish is still their pho-dilla (think pho quesadilla with melted cheese). Arrived 5-10 min after my requested time and skipped the massive line (the place was buzzing with every table full and a long line at the order counter. The ambiance and vibe are super cute and fun! I have heard about this place, and when they moved closer to me I knew I had to try them. Today was they day, and I was in a hurry so I got it to go. I wanted a vegetarian option and the girl waiting on me suggested an option that I don't even know what it was. It was a fried sandwich with tofu with the chili option - I remember that part. I wish I could remember it because it was mouth watering delicious. Yes - I thoroughly enjoyed every bite, and I want to get another one soon, so let's hope I figure it out upon my next visit. What we ordered: - Angry pho but with ramen noodles and added short rib - $13 + $6 This is such a good broth (im assuming is like a beef based Birria broth and tasted a little tomato-y) with ramen noodles! The broth is a little oily but it is overall sooo good!! The noodles are not too soft and not too hard! the short rib is also a must get because it's superrr tender.
