This is the spot!!! After hearing nothing but great reviews about this place I finally came around to trying it and it's definitely going to be my new go-to. I got the poke nachos with the creamy and shoyu salmon. It comes with crab salad, edamame, tobiko, and sauce on top of wonton chips (add avocado!). It was so fresh and not fishy at all. The closest thing to Hawaiian poke! Fish so fresh. BIG PORTION. Everything just delicious and fresh and flavorful. Always went there when i was super hungry and yet still couldnt finish it. Service abit slow, but they are all super friendly. I would recommend yall to order online in advance instead. And pick it up! If you ordered your food there, expect the waits around 20-30 min. Ever since the first time I tried this place in Dallas, I've made it a goal to have it every time I visit. It's really that good! It reminds me of Hawaii. The poke is so fresh and delicious. Was looking for a good Hawaiian spot since my favorite place in the Fort Worth area closed down. I didn't want a chain like Hawaiian Bros or Mo' Bettahs, so I decided to venture out and try something different today. I ended up getting the spicy fried Spam musubi, pork lumpia, lau lau with rice and double mac salad, and poke. I'll start with the bad....the pork lumpia was literally some of the worst lumpia I've ever had. It was burnt, dry, and had no flavor at all. I kept trying to find something redeeming about it, but there really wasn't anything there for me. I would skip it altogether. The fried Spam musubi wasn't really for me either, but I won't judge that one too harshly because I think it's more of a personal preference. There was just way too much going on with it. Between it being fried, the sauce, and everything else, it completely overpowered the Spam and rice. I'll definitely stick with the regular non fried version next time. The mac salad was probably my biggest disappointment because mac salad is one of my FAVORITE things to get from Hawaiian spots. This one just wasn't good to me at all. I've honestly had better mac salad at the chain Hawaiian places. It needed more pepper, more seasoning, and it was missing that subtle sweetness and creamy flavor I look for. I kept going back to it hoping it would grow on me, but nope....it just wasn't for me. Now for the better stuff....the lau lau itself tasted great. The pork had really good flavor and was tender, but the portion was ridiculous for the price. There might have been two or less ounces of pork inside, if that. I was genuinely surprised when I opened it up because I expected way more. The flavor was definitely there, but I wouldn't order it again because I couldn't justify the price for that amount of meat. The rice was decent....nothing to write home about, but I was content with it. I've had rice from Hawaiian spots that was way too wet and mushy, so I'll give them credit for getting the texture right. Now the BEST part....the poke. THIS is what I would come back for. The poke was amazing. The fish tasted fresh, the texture was great, the flavors worked really well together, and it didn't feel like it was drowning in sauce trying to cover up the fish. You could actually taste the freshness of everything. It was easily the standout of the entire meal... Would I drive all the way out here specifically for it? Probably not. But if I'm already in the area, I would absolutely stop in just for the poke. Fort Worth doesn't have the best selection of poke spots, or at least I haven't found one that I really love yet, so finding good poke was definitely a win. Overall, I left a little disappointed if I'm being honest. This place has potential, and there were definitely some bright spots, but as a whole it wasn't quite on par with some of the Hawaiian food I've had in Hawaii or some of my favorite Hawaiian spots on the mainland. I tried the spicy tuna and shoyu salmon, and both types of fish were fresh, well-seasoned with sauce but not overly so. They also have other Hawaiian classics such as kalbi (which is very popular as an entree in HI even though it's Korean), kalua pork, garlic shrimp, and spam musubi. The portions are pretty good for the price ($16 for regular plate/bowl and $18 for large). Note that even if they display a certain type of fish, it may be unavailable: they still had some spicy salmon left in the display case but I was informed I couldn't order any because it was being reserved for online orders, which was slightly disappointing. I've been struggling to find a good poke spot to replace Don Don Poke in Plano, and nothing ever came close... until now. One of the staff members told her it's best to order online since their inventory updates in real time. We placed our order online, and it went through! Just to be safe, we also called the store to double-check before heading out. It was a long drive, but 100000% worth it. I haven't been to Hawaii, but I can tell their poke is as authentic as it gets. At first, I was a little thrown off by the price, since most poke spots I go to are around $14. But once I saw the portions, it all made sense. They did not skimp on the fish, AT ALL. I actually had more fish than rice by the end, which never happens! The shoyu ahi tuna, shoyu salmon, and creamy salmon were all incredibly fresh and delicious. If you like spicy, definitely go for the creamy version. We also tried the kalbi and fried spam musubi; both were made fresh to order with generous portions. The space is small since it's designed for takeout, with just two tables inside and one outside. Luckily, nobody was dining in on this Wednesday night, so we grabbed a table and dug in right away. The place was buzzing with people coming in and out to pick up their orders. I overheard a worker say they only make what they can based on the day's fish delivery, which explains the exceptional freshness. This is a new restaurant I decided to try when I was passing through the area. Similar to other Hawaiian/poke restaurants, Pine isle offer similar island-style food in the heart of Dallas. They make it to order and my order took about 14 minutes, I had to just kinda stand there since they don't have anywhere to sit. I dont like that they dont have any indoor seating. They do have picnic tables outside to sit, but when its freezing cold outside, I would need to pick up to go. I got the spam masubi, pretty basic, not much to it. I will say this restaurant is a lot smaller than I expected, there's only 2 small tables inside and 1 table outside, and most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. Next time we'll probably make some rice at home and just get the fish because it's just so good. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were just perfect.
