I honestly can't say enough good things about Pine Isle. Everything you read and everything everyone says about this place is true--it really is that good. I don't normally feel that strongly about poke anywhere in the mainland because it's just okay, but Pine Isle was the first poke-specializing place that I felt like everything tasted just like how poke tastes in Hawaii. Of course that makes sense because the owner is Hawaiian, but wow... to get a slice of Hawaii in Dallas? A true blessing. I love their poke nachos, mac salad, spicy salmon... basically everything. You have to come and try out what the hype is all about because they truly deserve the hype and more. Note that they only have outdoor seating, so it can get really hot during the summertime. However, most people I know just order it for takeout and eat it at home. Please open more locations in Dallas! We desperately need Pine Isle to come to Plano (or even Austin).

I really didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised! Came here with some friends per their recommendation. I haven't had poke since moving to DFW area. They sang the praises of this restaurant, especially considering that the fish is regularly flown out from Hawaii. I ordered. It was a bowl mix with one of the salmon and tuna options. It took a bit of time. About 20 minutes. Nonetheless, well worth the wait. Alongside the poke, there was crab salad, edamame, seaweed salad, and half mix greens and rice. Everything by itself was delicious. Together... oh my goodness. I am literally salivating as I'm thinking about it. I can't write more. Otherwise, I will embarrasingly drool on my desk and keyboard. Highly recommend.

I am so delighted by the existence of Pine Isle!! Incredible poke, I am not surprised they sell out so quickly every night!! Their cooked dishes are also incredible, and also frequently sell out. This was become a regular takeout place for us, and I highly recommend it to everyone!!!

Left poke order: shoyu salmon & creamy spicy ahi w/ half salad & half rice on the side Right poke: shoyu salmon & shoyu ahi w/ half salad & half rice on the side Coming out to be $34.64 for 2 regular pokes not including tip yet. Food always hit! My boyfriend lovessss this place and we both agree that this reminds us of poke from hawaii! Order this online and it was ready for pick up right when i got there! Service was amazing. The staff are truly so kind and helpful. I was in and out within 1 minute. This is the third time being here since it's a bit of a drive. Wed probably go once a week if it was closer to us tbh! We typically like to order online since it's faster. This place is more of a takeout style shop so it's a tight waiting area which is why we togo now! There's also seating outside but very limited.

If you love poke, I have a spot for you. Pine Isle is a restaurant located in Dallas, with delicious, fresh-tasting poke. I came later in the day and got to try a regular poke bowl with 2 scoops of protein (creamy spicy ahi & creamy spicy salmon)! The bowl also comes with rice, krab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, ginger, and wasabi. This is definitely my new go-to for when I'm in a poke mood!

I'm only rating a 4 because I have not been in this location and experienced the service but ordering from here has been seamless. I always order the poke bowl with salad and rice but decided to try the poke nachos with wasabi octopus and shoyu ahi and I'm so pleased. The wonton chips on delivery where still crispy and not soggy which is a plus but the flavors within the nachos just come together no matter what protein you get. I also order the lumpia which is 10/10, I am no stranger to lumpia. I've had the musubi and the fried musubi and I recommend both but for a more fulfilling option definitely go with the fried musubi.

If you're in Dallas and looking for something fresh and amazing, you definitely found the spot! The food is extremely fresh and so delicious. The staff is very friendly and motivated to get you exactly what you want. The food here makes me miss Hawaii for sure! Speaking with the staff, they told me that the owner lived in Hawaii and learned a lot of these amazing recipes. Love it!

Ever since moving to the DFW area a few months ago, we have been coming here every other week it seems. The poke plates and poke nachos are our favorites. The fish is fresh and marinades are flavorful. Honorable mention for the fried spam musubis. We normally order ahead online and dine at the picnic tables in front of the restaurant since they have no indoor dining. They provide cold waters outside and the tables are always clean and have an umbrella attached which is a plus for when it gets too sunny.

My daughter wanted to hit up this place on our way home from Dallas to Houston. Mind you I am not in line to Poke on road trips.... Service was great they have 2 fish options , Tuna and salmon- 2 ways. I am not a fan of Tuna because it's a bloodier fish so it you can taste the iron and I don't particularly like the texture. (Still not a fan but it was really good tuna). The salmon had skin on which I'm not usually inclined to, but the fish was so fresh and the prep was done so beautifully that you can't go wrong- it was like butter. Don't plan to sit inside- take it to go or sit at the benches on the side of the building. I like the concept from a business perspective because they are focused on the product and customer service not having to worry about clean up bussing tables etc. they focus on their food. We got poke bowls, macaroni and the canned drink. For $16 it's a very generous portion I have to tell you, it's not a stingy serving. Haven't had really good poke in a while and I love that they are not asking you to build your bowl you can add and subtract but they know how it tastes good no decisions required

hey... this place is unbeatable. real down-home vibes, patient and friendly service, DELICIOUS, fried musubi is AMAZING and unexpected. fresh fish and great portions which make it totally worth the price! we met the owner bringing in supplies for the place too, kind guy! outdoor seating is lovely. was also amazed at the range of the menu. took probably less than 5 minutes to come out. please go here instead of a corporate "hawaiian" chain. will be back!!

Pine Isle was delicious! I got the fried musubi and mochiko chicken. Every thing is made fresh so it does take a little bit of time, so I'd recommend ordering ahead. They were also running low on a lot of items by the time I got there, around dinner on a Friday. Only outdoor seating if you're hoping to stay and eat so be prepared. My only complaint is I do wish they had pictures of the menu or something that offers a little more explanation in store.

2.5 I wanted to like this place, but it fell short for me. The first turn off was having to wait in line for a pickup order. Kind of defeats the purpose of ordering online. I ordered the pork lumpia that was just ok. I got the kalua pork plate. The mac salad was very bland and the rice was gross. The kalua pork is absolutely delicious. I won't return, but if you go, I highly recommend the kalua pork, just don't get the rice. It tastes off. The only seating is a few outdoor tables.

My friends got pine isle takeout for me after I delivered my baby. Man oh man was it good. It definitely hit the spot. I think she got me three types: shoyu salmon, shoyu tuna and spicy salmon. I loved all of them! The fish was so tender and not fishy tasting. The flavor was really good. She also got the deep fried musubi and it was amazinnnnngggg. 10/10 would recommend. Would like to go back and try the other dishes!!

The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. For those sitting in the car trying to decide or others looking for BBQ in the area,my recommendation is go elsewhere. I have a very good reason for this and it's disappointment. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot to like about the place. Walking in the door into the dining full bar area,we were cheerfully greated by the bartend-ress on protocol. 48 hours into this review and I'm just at 3 paragraphs and deciding how long or not this is going to be. Texas barbecue is so dear to my heart I'm feeling an extensive review coming on. Let me finish this paragraph by mentioning a significant historical fact regarding bbq just a few blocks from here. " The" king of Dallas barbeque started not far from here. In 1935 Red Bryan started a BBQ business and became a legend. Passing the torch to his son Sonny Bryan who solidified the elevated smoking of brisket in Dallas. That era has passed and now.... We have a new movement. With the price of beef, personnel retention, operating expenses,it's gotta be one of the hardest operations in food service. But,Red,Sonny and others did it and the bar is raised for anyone else who expects you to patronize their establishment and pay today's prices. I was very disappointed in the brisket here. I should have taken it back but, wasn't in the mood. While the owners may be connected to Lockhart Texas BBQ royalty, you can't rest on your laurels. Let's give them some time to tweek the operation before we try again. At this time it's a no go.

By the time the store opened, the line had grown to being over twenty parties long, so plan accordingly if you don't want to be waiting for a while. Between the four in our party, we shared a three meat BBQ plate with bacon burnt ends, brisket, and their house made sausage. For our two sides, we chose their hatch chile mac n cheese and their Mexican street corn. Following the recommendations of many Yelpers, we also ordered two of the brisket tostadas and two of the birria tacos. When we received our plate of meat, I was a bit surprised at how little of each meat there was on the plate, but in hindsight, this ended up being the perfect amount of food, where everyone was able to get a sample of everything. Of the items we ordered, my favorite was definitely the burnt ends. These were melt in your mouth tender, and was insanely rich and decadent. Each of the three pieces in our order had a beautiful bark on the outside that resulted in a satisfying crunch with every bite. The casing to the sausage was snappy and the sausage itself was very juicy. The brisket was fall apart tender. The brisket was a bit light on seasoning, so I ended up using the Aztec Gold BBQ sauce they had sitting at the table with it. The sides that we chose were both delicious. The pasta in the mac n cheese was cooked perfectly and the noodles was generously sauced. The elote was sweet and smokey, and the Cotija cheese added creaminess to the side. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Hurtado Barbecue and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit if you're in Texas and are looking for great tasting BBQ.

I follow the chef/owner on Instagram (@kafibbq), and the amount of effort and detail he puts into his craft has resulted in multiple return visits for me. This review is for my latest visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi BBQ can be found in a shopping strip in Irving-Valley Ranch. Only opened Friday - Sunday, on my most recent Sunday visit around dinner time, Kafi was packed. The patrons were a great mix of families, BBQ lovers, and those looking for high quality Halal meats. Smoke was in the air. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super friendly and nice. Pro Tip - Go for lunch or before 6 before items are sold out. A few items were sold out on my most recent visit (my fault I arrived at 6:45) and the staff weren't aware of what was available, leading to some confusion, but they were so nice it didn't impact my meal. 1 Star. Food - By now, you've probably read or heard about Kafi's Wagyu Brisket. For me, I love following @kafibbq on Instagram so I can see what Salahodeen is cooking up. On this visit, it was the Brisket Sandwich. First off, the house baked bread roll is soft, but firm enough to hold Kafi's famous brisket on a pile of home made cole slaw and pickles. The result was one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've eaten. The bite was soft, smokey, crunchy, and tart (from the pickles). It was a special, and I'm not sure if Kafi will keep this on the menu, but I hope they do. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's pricey, but it's worth it. While the brisket is great, I suggest you follow them on Instagram to see what's cooking and plan your visit around the specialty items. 1 Star.
