The garlic shrimp is the best thing I've had in dallas 1000/10. Kalbi is flavorful but I would love a bit more sauce or marinade to keep the meet from being dry. Still a 7/10! Togo only Hawaiian food off Fitzhugh. It's made fresh so takes 5-10 minutes for the plates. There are some outdoor seating options too. The sushi bowls are good - plain or spicy salmon and tuna! The restaurant popped up on my social media so we had to go check it out. We love poké and really miss being able to grab fresh poké at the markets on Oahu. The restaurant itself is tiny. It's more of a grab and go. There's not really any seating and everyone who says order ahead is right, you should definitely order ahead. There was a line but it moved pretty quick. Really small store with 4 picnic tables outside for eating. Customer service was fine, they're quick but hospitable. I've tried the octopus, creamy spicy ahi/salmon, and shoyu tuna/salmon. Both variations of the tuna and salmon are really good, the octopus not so much but that's probably just preference. They can run out of the tuna/salmon relatively quick so don't count on getting them if you come close to closing. read more

For those pining for their go-to dishes in Hawaii, Pine Isle hits the spot. This little takeout spot in an unassuming plaza in East Dallas dishes out poke just like from the Hawaiian islands. There's some picnic tables outside if you can't wait to take it all the way home. We tried all of the poke flavors--shoyu ahi, shoyu salmon, spicy ahi, spicy salmon. Next time we'll probably make some rice at home and just get the fish because it's just so good. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were just perfect. It was worth the hype! It has been open for 4 months and there was a line of people waiting for their orders outside. The inside is a small space enough for you to order and wait outside. There are about four sitting tables outside but it gets packed quick. The staff were friendly when taking my order. I got the bowl with two scoops that was spicy ahi and shoyu ahi with half rice and salad it also came with edamame pods, Imitation crab, seaweed salad, and pickled ginger slices. The portion was enough to feed 2 people. The price was great! The spicy tuna was soo good and the shoyu ahi had so much flavor. The reviews are true it's great! Pine isle is a very small shop serving authentic Hawaiian food. Don't expect to dine in as there are only two tables inside. There are many classic dishes like bbq meat plates, poke, and even mochiko chicken, which was one of my favorite dishes I had when I visited Hawaii. Poke: Pine isle probably is the only place in DFW that has poke similar to Hawaii. It's mainly just fish and rice along with a few additional sides. The poke was good but I thought the shoyu salmon and tuna flavor wise was just missing something. The rice itself was also a little too mushy for me - 3.5/5 Mochiko chicken: The chicken was amazing. It had the perfect amount of crunch but also a great chew you would expect from mochiko flour. On top of that the side of Mac salad was probably the best I've had in DFW - 5/5 read more

Was looking for a good Hawaiian spot since my favorite place in the Fort Worth area closed down. I didn't want a chain like Hawaiian Bros or Mo' Bettahs, so I decided to venture out and try something different today. I ended up getting the spicy fried Spam musubi, pork lumpia, lau lau with rice and double mac salad, and poke. I'll start with the bad....the pork lumpia was literally some of the worst lumpia I've ever had. It was burnt, dry, and had no flavor at all. I kept trying to find something redeeming about it, but there really wasn't anything there for me. I would skip it altogether. The fried Spam musubi wasn't really for me either, but I won't judge that one too harshly because I think it's more of a personal preference. There was just way too much going on with it. Between it being fried, the sauce, and everything else, it completely overpowered the Spam and rice. I'll definitely stick with the regular non fried version next time. The mac salad was probably my biggest disappointment because mac salad is one of my FAVORITE things to get from Hawaiian spots. This one just wasn't good to me at all. I've honestly had better mac salad at the chain Hawaiian places. It needed more pepper, more seasoning, and it was missing that subtle sweetness and creamy flavor I look for. I kept going back to it hoping it would grow on me, but nope....it just wasn't for me. Now for the better stuff....the lau lau itself tasted great. The pork had really good flavor and was tender, but the portion was ridiculous for the price. There might have been two or less ounces of pork inside, if that. I was genuinely surprised when I opened it up because I expected way more. The flavor was definitely there, but I wouldn't order it again because I couldn't justify the price for that amount of meat. The rice was decent....nothing to write home about, but I was content with it. I've had rice from Hawaiian spots that was way too wet and mushy, so I'll give them credit for getting the texture right. Now the BEST part....the poke. THIS is what I would come back for. The poke was amazing. The fish tasted fresh, the texture was great, the flavors worked really well together, and it didn't feel like it was drowning in sauce trying to cover up the fish. You could actually taste the freshness of everything. It was easily the standout of the entire meal... Would I drive all the way out here specifically for it? Probably not. But if I'm already in the area, I would absolutely stop in just for the poke. Fort Worth doesn't have the best selection of poke spots, or at least I haven't found one that I really love yet, so finding good poke was definitely a win. Overall, I left a little disappointed if I'm being honest. This place has potential, and there were definitely some bright spots, but as a whole it wasn't quite on par with some of the Hawaiian food I've had in Hawaii or some of my favorite Hawaiian spots on the mainland. This is one of those places I have to come back and eat at every time I visit Dallas. Their poke is probably the best I've tried in Texas. Super fresh, generous portions, and seasoned well. I love how they include edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, ginger, and wasabi. It feels very authentic to Hawaiian poke. Made a pit stop here on our way out of Dallas after seeing all the hype and I fully understand why. Disclaimer: they only have outdoor seating so it does get super hot in this Texas weather. Aside from that, the garlic shrimp was fantastic, the shrimp was a good size, the shell was well seasoned, light and crispy. The rice was super buttery from sitting below the shrimp. Mac salad tasted like it was supposed to, and the small side of salad did really well to cut the fat from everything else on the plate, I loved the little marinated tomatoes. All the flavors tasted very authentic. It's definitely up there with Giovanni's shrimp truck on Oahu. Will for sure be back to try the poke next time I'm in Dallas. read more

The shoyu salmon and tuna were yummy and the quality of the fish was good BUT the tuna in my bowl was half frozen. It was very odd and I didn't love that. When Pine Isle first came to Dallas, you could tell that we were getting quality and freshness we hadn't been used to. I used to dine with them via DoorDash a couple times a month. Their salmon and tuna, at first was very vivid, high grade, and had an incredible depth of flavor. However, my last experience a week or so ago included a poke with very opaque salmon slathered in mayo, the tuna is dull and the sauce no longer has the onion, herbs, and sauce that kept me coming back. The rice was very mushy and warm which med things even more unappetizing. The lumpia and fried spam musubi are still excellent, fortunately, but I feel like should still be able to get the same great experience across the board. Regarding extras, the wonton chips were super stale during my last experience and when you want some more crab or seaweed salad (also a dip in quality) you will only receive about a dime worth in the tiniest ramekins I've ever seen. Please bring back the goodness we were introduced to, otherwise I can't promise I'll return. read more

My two sons and i ordered the garlic kimchi french fries. The deep fried misobe. Katsu chicken plate with curry sauce the poke nachos and loco moco. Every single plate looked amazing, beautiful and vibrant. The pokey was super fresh and very delicious the loco moco was comforting and put a big smile on my face.
