I had a Large poke bowl (3 proteins) but I customized it to have 1 scoop of shoyu salmon and 2 scoops of spicy salmon, over 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad. It came with seaweed salad, kani salad, wasabi, pickled ginger, and edamame. Easily some of the best poké here in DFW. Highly, highly recommend this gem of a place. read more

Pine isle is a very small shop serving authentic Hawaiian food. Don't expect to dine in as there are only two tables inside. There are many classic dishes like bbq meat plates, poke, and even mochiko chicken, which was one of my favorite dishes I had when I visited Hawaii. Poke: Pine isle probably is the only place in DFW that has poke similar to Hawaii. It's mainly just fish and rice along with a few additional sides. The poke was good but I thought the shoyu salmon and tuna flavor wise was just missing something. The rice itself was also a little too mushy for me - 3.5/5 Mochiko chicken: The chicken was amazing. This is one of those places I have to come back and eat at every time I visit Dallas. Their poke is probably the best I've tried in Texas. Super fresh, generous portions, and seasoned well. Made a pit stop here on our way out of Dallas after seeing all the hype and I fully understand why. Disclaimer: they only have outdoor seating so it does get super hot in this Texas weather. Aside from that, the garlic shrimp was fantastic, the shrimp was a good size, the shell was well seasoned, light and crispy. The rice was super buttery from sitting below the shrimp. Mac salad tasted like it was supposed to, and the small side of salad did really well to cut the fat from everything else on the plate, I loved the little marinated tomatoes. All the flavors tasted very authentic. It's definitely up there with Giovanni's shrimp truck on Oahu. Will for sure be back to try the poke next time I'm in Dallas. read more

I got the deep fried musubi and the poke nachos. Both were very good and the wontons held up surprisingly well considering they sat through over 45 minutes of driving before being eaten. The spicy ahi (I wouldn't say it was spicy but it still had a nice taste) and shoyu salmon were fresh and complimented well by everything else on the nachos. My only negative would be that the musubi was a bit greasy, but that's pretty minor in my opinion. I used to be obsessed with Pine Isle when they first opened in Dallas, but I find myself less impressed each time I visit. Since switching to a takeout-focused model, it really feels like the pickup experience hasn't been fully figured out yet. I usually place my orders through Uber Eats, and every time I end up waiting 10-15 minutes past the stated ready time. On my most recent visit, I checked in with my name and ended up standing there while at least 10 other people came in and received their orders. Despite mentioning it twice, my bag had been sitting there the entire time. It was incredibly frustrating. Sadly, this has changed how often I come here. Until the order timing becomes more accurate or the waiting experience improves, I'll probably choose to spend my $20 elsewhere. This place went from being one of the best takeout spots in Dallas (in my opinion) to somewhere I visit mostly out of "convenience." I genuinely hope they can turn things around. When they first opened, you practically had to plan your day around getting poke because it was so popular. I'd love to see it thriving like that again. read more

I moved away from Hawaii almost a decade ago and spent just as much time trying to find a decent mochiko chicken plate lunch on the mainland. 9 years, 3 states, and dozens of disappointing renditions later, the search is finally over. Mochiko chicken was my favorite plate lunch, so much to the point I actually printed out the Hawaiian Electric recipe on a magnet and slapped it on my fridge because the only way I can indulge in my favorite local plate was to make it myself. Pine Isle is further away, but screw the distance, my stomach is calling. The poke was also great. The spicy ahi gave me a Ratatouille style childhood flashback of the Foodland poke bowls. Finally went to try the poke bowl from Pine Isle since everyone was hyping up about it. Had to try it out myself to see if it was just good marketing on social media or the food is actually good. The flavor of the creamy salmon and soy salmon is good. The proportion if seaweed salad, crab, etc is good too. But the most important factor of a poke bowl which is the QUALITY of fish is 2/5. I had to spit out 5 pieces of salmon because they were too chewy to the point I just could not swallow. Because you can easily mask the freshness of raw fish with bunch of sauce, I worry that the quality is not too good. Also, the "extra" seaweed salad I paid $.50 for was just so small. I will be going back to try other things from the menu and will adjust the rating accordingly. But so far, not impressed--just seems the hype is from being a new restaurant & social media marketing UPDATE: Tried their loco moco & garlic kimchi fries. Loco moco's portion size is amazing. Took me two days to finish it. The garlic kimchi fries are some of the best fries I've had, and I'm so happy I tried it. UPDATE 2: Tried their poke bowl again. I tried the newest Hawaiian establishment in Dallas that has been the buzz lately. They have many traditional Hawaiian plates such as loco moco, pork lau lau, and kalua pork, but I came here for their poke. They have 6 flavors: shoyu ahi, shoyu salmon, creamy spicy tuna, creamy spicy salmon, wasabi tako, and gochujang tako. They are a takeout based store so they recommend ordering ahead through online orders. They only have 2 small tables inside and 1 outside. They have been selling out lately too so try to order as early as possible. My friend and I got a regular poke bowl with shoyu salmon and shoyu ahi. Each bowl have rice, salad, or a mix of both as its base. It is topped with krab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, ginger, and wasabi. The portion is pretty generous but they lack in customizations and have limited topping and sauce options for the bowl. The rice was ok, a lot of it was stuck together. The shoyu flavor was pretty muted so the salmon and ahi didn't really taste like anything. The krab salad however was fireeee. So overall poke bowl was just ok for us. You can also order poke by the pound like how they do in Hawaii. The poke nachos though, my mind was blown by the flavors of it. You get a ton of crispy wonton chips topped with two scoops of poke. We got the creamy spicy ahi and creamy spicy salmon this time and omg they both were sooo soooo much better than the shoyu poke. They were creamy, had a kick to them, just so much more flavor. The nachos are also topped with krab salad, madago, edamame, creamy spicy, wasabi aioli, and a sweet soy glaze. Talk about a flavor bomb. The crispy wonton chips provide a much needed crunch and serves as a perfect vessel for everything. The edamame provided some crunch as well, and the wasabi aioli and creamy spicy sauce definitely elevated everything.
