In town for business and stumbled across Hurtado Barbecue -- and it became a three‑day pilgrimage. Day 1: Came in about an hour and a half before closing and ordered brisket, green beans, and Mexican rice. The brisket was the undeniable star, but those green beans were a very close co‑star. Fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. Day 2: Told my colleagues, and four of us ordered to‑go. I got brisket, chicken, green beans, and brisket beans. The brisket was so intensely flavorful I literally hit my knee on the table. The chicken had a glaze so delicious and perplexing it felt like it transported me into space. Both sets of beans were absolutely breathtaking. Day 3: Now six of us went in person. I ordered brisket, pork ribs, burnt ends, brisket beans, and green beans. I didn't think it was possible, but somehow each visit gets better than the last. What to expect: Great customer service, a relaxed atmosphere, and tongue‑tantalizing flavors that stay with you. The food leaves you craving the textures and richness the way someone stranded in the desert would thirst for water. I'll be back tomorrow for the beef ribs -- only served on weekends

I will say not all recommendations are good recommendations. At least not for this place. First time in Dallas and was highly influenced to try this establishment. I must say I was not pleased. It was very underwhelming. Don't get me wrong this seems to be a very popular local and touristy establishment that may enjoy. Upon walking up the line was coming out the door, so expectations were extremely high. This is a cafeteria style restaurant where you go through the line. It moves quick so kind of know what you want prior to reaching the front of the line. The prices are a bit high, but if shared with someone it's pretty reasonable. The brisket was dry and the amount you get for the price, was NOT worth it. The pulled pork lacked flavor, even though it was drizzled with some sort of sauce. The elote corn was fairly decent. I could order this again along with the Mac and cheese. I did get a Texas Twinkie which was a bit different from another I had while in Dallas. The flavor is definitely there, but this one had pimento cheese inside, which pimento cheese is definitely an acquired taste. If you want dessert the banana pudding was very good. Seating is very limited inside, but they do offer outdoor seating with plenty of tables. I'm sure the Texas heat could deter you from eating outside on those extremely hot days. This establishment is worth trying if you're a tourist to compare to other well known bbq spots in Dallas.

We lucked out with lunch on a Friday timing! It was busy inside because of recent rain storms, and there was a bit of a line to order - the line moved quick and we were able to find a table outside by the bar that was covered. They had someone at the line taking orders on a device, only problem was no one was making sure the menus were stocked when you walked in....so until people saw a menu they didn't know what to order and that was holding up the efficiency of having someone taking orders before getting to the register. We looked on here to get the menu so we were prepared. Disappointed to find out that the beef rib was not an option for the plate meals and could only be bought at the by pound à la carte option but that the bone itself was at least a pound already...needless to say we did not get to try to beef rib. Everything else we did have was okay. The burnt ends were chillin in a pool of oil in its little tray....could not finish them. We really liked the brisket and my husband liked his brisket baked potato a lot! Our drinks from the bar were delicious and the staff behind the counter, behind the bar and taking our order were all very friendly. I wished they had more dessert options! A cobbler would be perfect!!!

After hearing the roar of the crowd regarding Hurtado Barbecue, I knew I had to make the drive to Dallas to see if the hype held weight. As the first stop on my Texas BBQ tour, the expectations were sky-high. The Atmosphere & Service First impressions: immaculate. The pit-master culture can sometimes feel a bit rough around the edges, but Hurtado breaks that mold. The facility is extremely clean and well-maintained, sporting an inviting vibe that makes you want to stay a while. The staff was truly phenomenal very helpful, patient with the menu questions, and clearly proud of what they're serving. The Tacos I dove straight into the signature items: the Brisket Taco and the Barbacoa Taco. The execution was solid, and the tortillas held up well, but I found myself at a bit of a crossroads. The brisket taco, while tender, relied quite heavily on the birria dipping sauce to carry the flavor home. On its own, the meat didn't quite have that punchy, standalone bark I was hunting for, though the sauce itself was excellent. The Sides: While people come for the meat, they might just stay for the sides. The potato salad was executed to perfection! balanced, creamy, and a classic palate cleanser. However, the Mac and Cheese was the real standout. I'd comfortably put this in my "top 5 restaurant macs" of all time. It's rich, decadent, and worth the trip on its own. At $6 per taco, the price point sits in that premium bracket, and at that cost, I generally expect the meat to provide a transcendent flavor profile without needing a secondary sauce as a crutch. Overall, Hurtado is a must-visit for the experience and the legendary sides. It's a very good plate of food, even if the tacos fell short of the "life-changing" mark for the price.

Nice bbq joint. I forget what it's called but we ordered the family sampler which came with a few sides and the variety of meats. In order of what I enjoyed the most: the brisket was so good, ribs were decent, pulled pork was on par with the ribs, turkey was okay. The Mac and cheese is a must order, pretty tasty. 5 stars for service, they went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of once we sat down outside. I'd add this to your list of locations to at least try once.

Very friendly and amazing BBQ! Great way to kick off a week in Texas. Beep risk and burnt ends were perfect. It only took about 10 minutes to get my food so if you're in a hurry come early

Three meat combo with a Texas Twinkie
    Jimmy U.

My very first trip to Texas and the very first thing I ate was BBQ. No pressure, right? Naturally I went to Hurtado Barbecue because if you're going to gamble your entire Texas food experience on one meal, it might as well be at a place that's been getting national hype and smoke signals from every BBQ nerd on the internet. I ordered the three-meat combo: * Brisket * Ribs * Sausage With a side of mac and cheese, plus a Texas Twinkie because I saw the name and thought, "Well I can't not order something called that." I grabbed a seat on the patio because it was a humid, sunny Texas afternoon, the kind where the air feels like a warm wet towel and you know somewhere nearby there's a smoker working overtime. The outdoor space had that perfect BBQ energy. Picnic tables, smoke in the air, people hovering over trays of meat like archaeologists discovering brisket fossils. The food came out pretty quickly, and when the tray landed in front of me it looked like a small monument to smoked protein. The brisket: Exactly what you hope for when someone says "Texas brisket." Tender, juicy, beautiful bark, and sliced thick enough to make you feel respected as a meat consumer. The ribs: Still very good, but they were my least favorite. That says more about my expectations than the ribs themselves. When you're in Texas you start expecting ribs to personally shake your hand and thank you for coming. The sausage: This was the surprise MVP. I wasn't even that excited for it but it ended up being my favorite bite of the entire tray. Snappy casing, super juicy, packed with flavor. I had a brief moment where I considered ordering another one and abandoning the rest of the meal. The mac and cheese: Creamy, comforting, doing exactly what mac and cheese should do next to BBQ -- acting as the emotional support side dish. The Texas Twinkie: I know this is one of their signature items (brisket stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon), but honestly... it didn't hit for me. Not bad, just not the star of the show compared to the meats. There were a couple sauces on the table and the orange one was my favorite, tangy with a little kick. I used it sparingly though because good brisket shouldn't need much help. Overall: For my first meal ever in Texas, this place set the bar pretty high. Great patio vibe, legit BBQ, and sausage that caught me completely off guard in the best way. If I'm ever back in Arlington, I'm 100% stopping here again and next time I'm ordering two sausages.

    Super dry brisket.

I love this place, is usually super good, but I don't know what happened this last time we went, ribs and pulled pork was good but brisket was 1/10.

Brisket charro beans, brisket, turkey, fries, pickle, pickle pepper, tea, bacon wrapped pepper w/ cheese inside.

Had to come get my BBQ fix. My job catered the nastiest BBQ I ever had in my life yesterday. I got to get that taste out my mouth.

Hurtado BBQ absolutely lives up to the hype. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with plenty of seating, even though it's almost always packed... for good reason. There's usually a wait, but the line moves efficiently and once you get your food, it's immediately clear why people are willing to stand in it. Everything we tried was outstanding. The burnt ends were rich, smoky, and perfectly tender. The brisket was juicy with a great bark, the pork ribs were flavorful and cooked just right, and the birria tacos were an unexpected highlight. We ordered a bunch of sides as well, and none of them disappointed. I liked the Mac and cheese because it had a little jalapeño flavor to it, and the corn was fresh and crunchy. This is 100% a place I'd come back to, wait and all. If you're in Arlington, Hurtado BBQ is a must.

It was my first and only time eating Texas BBQ. It was great. This place is one of the best in the area. We got there around 7:30pm and there was still a line. We stood in line for about 20 minutes. You order at the counter and get your food. They have seats on the inside and the outside of the restaurant, or you can take it to go. We opted to sit outside. While we were standing in line, I heard the guy cutting the meats say that they were on the last slab of ribs. That's what I wanted, but was afraid that they were going to run out. I asked the guy if that was it while he was cutting it. He smiled and said it was. However, he cut me two pieces of ribs to try just in case they ran out. I was so happy. I was there with my hubby, his uncle and his cousin. We all got the one meat plate that came with two sides $19.99. The guy in front of us did just order the last of the ribs, so I got the brisket instead. The two sides that I chose were the loaded mashed potatoes and Mexican street corn. I also got the tres leches banana pudding $4.50. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the combo, but it turned out fantastic. Everything that I tried was delicious. The brisket was tender and juicy. I tried both their house bbq sauces with it. They have the sweet & spicy or the aztec gold. I liked them both, but the aztec gold seemed spicier than the sweet & spicy.

Pork Spare Ribs, Prime Brisket, potato salad, Macaroni and Cheese and street corn and can't forget the strawberry crush
    Francis V.

Great place to meet friends for lunch or dinner. When you arrive, you place your order at the counter, have a seat inside or outside and one of the lovely employees will bring your food to your table. I ordered the pork ribs and brisket with the Mexican corn, potato salad and macaroni & cheese. Street parking is available.

I have 2 small kiddos. What time is the best time for us to go that is not the busiest?

The restaurant is pretty much always busy so if you want to dine in, pack your patience.

Are you open 12/31 and 1/1/2022?

    Yeah come out!

    Is there a tv outdoors?

Yes we have two of them outside on the patio.

Are you open this Christmas eve 2020?

Only for Christmas preorder pickups. We will reopen 12/26-27.

Is BBQ sauce included with the purchase of a whole brisket? I don't see a purchase option for sauce I assume it's available for purchase in store?

Yes it is! We have small and large 16 oz sauces available for purchase as well.

So what are the actual hours? Might want to update the Yelp page with latest info.

Our hours are correct, only open Fridays and Saturdays until our restaurant is renovated. Hoping to open full time in January.

Do you have your full menus on Sunday?

Yes, aside from quail and beef ribs we will.

You are just open Friday and Saturday correct?

    Go and see.

I'm heading up to Dallas and surrounding area this Saturday from Houston. What time does Hurtado typically sellout? And how long are the lines typically?

Hi Kevin! We typically have food until 5-6 pm. The line can vary depending on time of day, but you can always preorder and we’ll have your food ready for pickup when you arrive.

The ribs were excellent. I also really liked the chicken stew. I was surprised by the sour flavor of the injera. The thin bbq sauce was tasty while it was not sweet or full of vinegar. It was a nice alternative to traditional sauces. While we enjoyed our meal, and I would order the ribs and chicken stew again, this place is a bit too far for a repeat. But it introduced me to Ethiopian food which I can find closer to home. I love the creativity of the owners.

While we had a plan going in to ordering, we still overestimated ourselves. We wanted to get a little of a lot of things and definitely would've ordered less. (However, we're proponents of savoring and appreciating the few bites you have - which is hard to quantify when you're ordering by the pound). The pork belly was easily our favorite (a surprise for us); I liked it without the peach glaze and he liked it with. Both sides of the brisket were phenomenal and the smoke ring was thick. Ribs were delicious but by this point we were wishing we split one. The slaw I was initially feeling would be underwhelming but it perfectly cut through the grease and fat of the meat. The potato salad was Dijon forward which I usually wouldn't be a fan of but this was done with balance. The bread. Tangy and chewy and wow a big surprise on how delicious it was. The options are endless, and I can genuinely say I did not try a single bad thing. Everything was so good that I completely forgot to use the barbecue sauce, and that should tell you something. The peppered tenderloin is an absolute must. Moist, flavorful, and mouthwatering, I'm still thinking about it. The baked potato lived up to every bit of the hype and then some. The service was smooth and efficient, with so much space inside that you could find your own little area. The atmosphere is classic Texas barbecue, casual and welcoming. I am genuinely sad that we don't have a Rudy's where I'm from, but I will absolutely be stopping here every single time I'm in Texas. This place is worth all the hype.

Worst Customer Service Experience!! I ordered only brisket…read morefor our main entrée for Thanksgiving. I picked it up on Wednesday and on a Thursday after heating it up as I unwrapped it was a Turkey breast. We were all looking forward to brisket but ate it since it was the only main entrée. I say this because after my experience with the manager Erin, she made me feel we were not suppose to eat it and return it in whole. I called on Friday since they were closed on Thursday. The manager asked me to bring the turkey breast leftovers I had so she could replace it with the brisket. I got upset and explained it's 1/2 gone. She said I understand but you need to bring it. I told her I would be there in 30 mins and hung up. I was in disbelief but still gave them the benefit I thought she needs to see prove. I arrived and the whole situation went horrible on their part. I maintained civil but now I regret it. A young lady acknowledge me and knew who I was. She took my turkey breast leftovers. I waited for awhile and I could see that Erin didn't know how to handle the situation because she involved other employees. I started to feel uncomfortable like all Earles were on me. I maintained my composure. And then Erin and another guy walked over to me, they didn't apologize nor seemed concerned as if they were being inconvenient. They just asked "You have your receipt". I showed it to them from my phone, she took my phone and observed as she expected me to be lying. I told her " I only ordered brisket not sure how they could get this wrong". She just mumbled, handed my phone and they all walked back to the prepping area. Waited for a bit finally she come to the front register and I walked over to her and she says "Was this the only order you had that day". Now I got upset and got loud told her "Yes it was my first and last time I will order from here". She then proceed to explain why the amount of brisket was being given to me. I cutt her off told "Let's just get this over with". I grabbed the bag and told her "I will be calling corporate and giving a review". Mostly I was disappointed and pissed at their behavior. I felt as if I did something wrong. They kept my leftovers, I don't understand that part. An apology goes a long way....sure didn't get one from management.
