The service is great the people friendly, easy to get to, and a drive through window. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the brisket is pretty tasteless, I am not sure about the reviews on this place, as most brisket has a Smokey flavor along with some type of spices, this didn't even have salt. Catering review only: I would recommend not getting the food without it being already heated ready to go, because you definitely won't get the David's flavor. We got brisket and pork & beans which my husband raved about in the restaurant, but it wasn't the same at all when we heated for an event. The brisket had no juice and was very dry and not flavorful, and the pork and beans tasted like they were straight out of a can. I can't speak on hot catering as we haven't tried it, and we will definitely be back for dining in, but I just wanted to share my recommendation for heat later catering. I will say, the team was very friendly. Coming down to the food, Davis is very average. There's nothing that will blow you away, but nothing was terrible. I love coleslaw and that was probably the best thing we had on our plates. All that being said, a self-serve ice cream machine is always a welcomed site. read more

Great family bbq restaurant. The walls are covered in signed pictures and served is good cafeteria style. Super fun place. Best part is the ice cream cone at the end! The staff are so kind. They sliced my girls extra cheese to eat. Now to the food, all the meat was good. I liked the ribs best. The sides were ok. I wish there was a potatoe or something else as an option. Wow! David's is the epitome of Texas barbecue. You're greeted when you walk in, the employees are all so respectful and helpful, and the food is great! I went with my dad and we got beef brisket, pork ribs, onion rings, and fried okra. The brisket was good (maybe on the drier side considering we asked for moist brisket), but the ribs were outstanding! Both the fried okra and onion rings were perfect, couldn't have asked for better! First of all, I stopped eating to write this. That in and of itself should say it all. Brisket was amazing, well trimmed, flavorful, moist, but doesn't disintegrate when touched. Mild sausage was really good. The Okra is honestly a determining factor for me and for Texas okra at a BBQ place it was spot on. I could have had just that and been happy. Sauce was fantastic. If there were any small notes it would be a touch more salt and pepper in the potato salad, but that's just for the sake of having some kind of criticism. If you like good Texas BBQ and live in this area, and you don't make it a point to periodically visit this place and support them you will be doing yourself and the entire community a huge disservice. read more

I don't drink anything, but water or tee, the tee taste bad, and the water is the worst that i have ever tasted, The Starbucks 2 blocks away has great water, David needs a water filter system, cooking with Pantego water ruins the beans and anything else that has water added. Okay, I found my favorite barbecue joint close to my house. This place was really friendly and the food was amazing. I was there around 3:00 on a Thursday afternoon and the place was not crowded at all. Everyone who was working there was really friendly and when I told him I was there for the first time they walked me through the process Basically get in line out to the right look at the menu. Figure out if you want a dinner plate option or specific cuts. I went for a two meats plate that was turkey and pork ribs Then you move on to the side section where you can pick up either. Coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad and some extra barbecue sauce. Additionally, if you're looking for things like fried okra or if you're in the mood for french fries or even onion rings, you can request that and they will bring it out to your table. The place is oh it's been around for a while and the decor shows it but it was comfortable. It was clean and it was an authentic Texas BBQ experience. I grabbed a soda fountain drink, and got busy with the plate in front of me. The pork ribs were amazing. I am definitely going to be ordering this again. The turkey was thinly sliced and was really good. I just wish I had another couple of slices of bread to make a sandwich out of it. The coleslaw and the baked beans were great. No disappointment there. So the okra and the onion rings were wonderful. It was just so filling I couldn't finish them so I brought the rest home. Now let me share that you can actually get ice cream at this place So I grabbed a cone and have some soft serve ice cream after the meal The whole team there was amazing. Jesse behind the counter was awesome, friendly and made me feel comfortable. Diane at the register was very friendly and it was nice to talk with her. Other members of the family came out and I really do appreciate that. That was really nice that they were very friendly and helpful to other customers, not just me. I absolutely recommend this place. Lively and packed family run bbq shop. The staff was friendly, happy, and eager to assist you, despite being busy. They had fun amongst themselves and the diners. They were truly the highlight of this restaurant :) The food, however, was no disappointment. The fried okra came recommended, and was lightly fried so the flavor was not overwhelmed by the breading. Sausage might have been the best I've ever had, flavorful, not too spicy, and "snapped" with every bite. Went here for lunch on a Friday. Walked in the restaurant and was greeted by very friendly staff. Since it was my first time there, they explained to me how the line works and the ordering process. I order a chopped beef sandwich with two side of slaw and potato salad. Surprisingly the sides were self serve as you moved down the line cafeteria style. My sandwich was ready to be put on my plate towards the end of the serving line. Everything was fresh with large portions and a very reasonable price. The self-serve condiments table was a plus too. Now for the taste, I was not impressed with the BBQ at all. I couldn't taste any smoke or flavor. The sides were flavorful and seasoned. On your way out the restaurant they have an ice cream machine where you can get a complimentary cone. The BBQ is good although what I had today was on the dry side, I had to really load up on the BBQ sauce. The BBQ beans and fries on the side were very good. I appreciate them cooking the fries to order, there are few greater disappointments in life than soggy old fries. The wife had the ham sandwich and it was stacked with thinly sliced ham, she thought it was incredible along with the potato salad. Other highlights, they keep bbq sauce bottles in a warmer, a nice touch. As you would expect any authentic BBQ joint, they have onions and pickles on the side bar, help yourself.
