I placed order at 12:08. It's 12:30. It's been 22 minutes since I placed my order on a Saturday. I think it's kind of crazy to have the entire establishment staffed with only one person to ring up order and make the order after ringing it up. As I'm typing this, I'm still waiting. I used to make the drive to order from their original location. Unfortunately, this spot is not like their original location. I'm disappointed. We ordered 3 combo plates, spam musubi, and fries. The fries were soft like they were undercooked. Flavor was lacking. Spam musubis were good and about the only thing I would order again from here. The combo plates were pretty gross. It was SWIMMING in grease. By the time we got home, the rice had soaked up a lot of the grease so the rice was all greasy. Still, there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the plate. People came in back-to-back and I was shaken by how busy it was after 15 mins. The wait was a bit longer than I anticipated, but I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't mind. The portion was okay. The combo came with a scoop of rice, macaroni salad, small eggroll, aloha chicken, and 6 coconut shrimp. The aloha chicken was sweeter than I expected, so I paired it with the macaroni salad. The coconut shrimp was GOOD. The batter was light, and the shrimp was hot. My strawberry guava drink was refreshing and paired perfectly well with the meal. Overall, I think this place is pretty solid. The interior is very clean with lots of natural lighting, and I like the open kitchen concept. I also saw the worker wrap the musubi per order instead of making them in batches ahead of time. We ordered the chicken and shrimp that comes with macaroni salad. I asked if I could take a picture of the guys that work there and two said yes! This place gets 5 stars for friendliness and customer service! The chicken was moist enough but had an odd flavor. The coconut shrimp was crunchy but it had a covering of panko, but I couldn't really see or taste coconut. The rice was dried and cold, maybe since we took it home to eat it. Unfortunately, I live across the metroplex from Richardson so when I was in the area I had to stop by my old favorite. I was so happy to hear Aloha had opened a second location on my side of town. It's been a few years since I've been back, but the flavors are just as good as I remembered if not better. Other than being overpriced and crispy. Their spam musubi was awful. Spam was overcooked and hard. If you're a fan of the O.G. location you'll be disappointed here.
