Chili crispy Chicken level 1
Tracy N.

As a Native of Texas who has spent my life traveling abroad eating Chinese food in some of the best Chinese Restaurants. I feel like I know Good Chinese food vs Bad. Mah-Jong is hands down my favorite in Texas. It has been the only Chinese restaurant that I have repeatedly come back to in North Texas. Our go to order. Shrimp Pan Fried Noodles, Chili Chicken level 1 we can't take the heat we get the chili spice oil on the side and the scallion pancakes.

Food was average, but I will go back and try more than appetizers to make a final decision. Hot and Sour Soup was good. It was very vinegar based in my opinion. Not a bad thing as I liked the flavor. I wish it would have had a little spice to it. I could eat it again, but I have definitely had better. 3.5 STARS Crab Rangoon was a little over fried for me. It was just a bit too crunchy for my liking. The center was soft and cheesy which helped it. I would not order these again. 3 STARS Service was good and the staff were pleasant. Ambiance it's a cute and simple restaurant. I love the art and lighting fixtures. It felt cozy and comfortable. Overall it was a good visit. I want to explore the entree's so I will go back to see if I can give them a better rating.

Dumplings

The disappointment started when the guy brought the lunch portion Hot & Sour Soup. The soup didn't even fill half the very small ramekin. And the wood ear mushroom wasn't properly trimmed, and as a result I bit into a hard woody stem that splintered in my mouth. Next came their "famous" Szechuan chicken dumplings which I guarantee were frozen dumplings that had zero crisp. Likely boiled. They had some kind of stir fry sauce on them. Awful. The fried wonton chips didn't come with hot mustard or duck sauce but the table next to us were brought the mustard. The mains were adequate but nothing special. The fried spring roll was filled with an oily vegetal mush. Also frozen, not made in house. I wouldn't go here again if the next meal was free.

Kind of a fancy place. People were getting nervous. Don't close your menu unless you are ready to order. Do have reservations. Had fun. We got Shu Mai dumplings LikeABo$$.

Had lunch there today after a doctor appointment and had a nice lunch. Very soothing ambiance with soft music that facilitates conversation. Service was fast and efficient. I had sweet and sour soup and my wife had egg drop soup. My wife enjoyed her sesame chicken and I mostly liked my Kung Pao beef but there was an occasional floral taste that didn't work for me. Spring rolls were good but nothing outstanding. Overall gotta give them five stars for service and ambience and three and a half for food. Would definitely return and try something different.

I got Singapore fried noodle and it was really good. I tried hong Kong crispy noodles and that was good too. Szechuan beef was good. Their beef is very tender. Scallion pancakes were a little bland.

This place is absolutely made for a group outing, and we're already planning to come back with a group to take full advantage. The food was a delight. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal. A solid spot with great vibes, tasty dishes, and room to grow on us even more with a return visit.

The bbq pork and roasted pork was okay. The bbq pork was lacking flavor and the roasted pork was not very juicy. Overall, we liked majority of our dishes. There was a few that lacked flavor but we would come back to try other dishes!

All the food had amazing flavors so I would recommend everything. My only note was the beef in the noodles was slightly chewy so I would suggest another protein option. The service was great. If you live in the area, it's a quality spot to get your soup dumpling fix. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, the first thing I noticed was Chef Sun's was very busy (great sign). The restaurant itself wasn't very memorable, and the table we sat at was next to a drink fridge and lots of traffic. 1/2 Star. Service - The staff at Chef Sun's was great, especially for a busy Chinese restaurant. The staff proactively kept our glasses full of water and were always on hand to help. Once we placed our order, food just kept coming from the staff as each dish was brought out piping hot and fresh. 1 Star. Food - The Xa Long Bao (soup dumplings) were nice and plump, freshly cooked and super-hot. This was the best part of the meal. The traditional Chinese dishes like their noodles were all a bit oily for my taste. Thee two appetizers - fried shrimp (very safe choice) were crispy without being greasy and the red dipping sauce was more sweet than spicy. And the spicy edamame was good. Overall plenty of good, but nothing super memorable. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Only if I'm in the area and I want soup dumplings. Chef Sun's Noodle & Dumpling has some oily noodles and great dumplings. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here, but now that I know they exist, I'll stop by next time I want soup dumplings. 1/2 Star.

He always takes care of us and knows just what to recommend. Pretty sure he sees us and just puts in the duck order at this point. But regardless, we didn't have enough skin so asked if we can get 2 more skins, even if we had to pay for them. The waitress barked at us that it comes in 10-pks and that she can't get us just 2 pieces. Fine, but there's no need to be annoyed and roll your eyes at us. The service was much to be desired. We ordered the A-Choy vegetable and it was awful, old and yellow and not cooked well. It's like they didn't sauté it in a hot enough wok so it wasn't crispy. So disappointing this time. Don't get me wrong, the Peking Duck and the soup that comes with it were still pretty good. Thus the second star.
