I have frequented La Madeleine for years. First time today my sis and I ordered a delivery from the cafe on W. University in McKinney, TX. We couldn't eat our food it was so bad. The croutons on my salad were soggy and tasted of old grease. The lettuce was limp & black. The Friand's puffy crust tasted old and greasy and no cheese inside. The Friand had perhaps 3 tablespoons of mushroom sauce on top if that much. We had to throw it away. This restaurant will give a bad name to La Madeleine and that is sad and most of them are so amazing. Nothing fresh in this place. read more

La Madeleine has been a go-to for that somewhat French style cafe for years. While the quality of the food has seemed to decline over the years I still frequent La Madeleine because there's something comforting about it. Maybe it's the big fireplace you may be lucky enough to sit in front of or maybe it's my favorite eggs champignon, I'm not sure but I keep going back and I t always feels quaint and cozy. Service can be hit or miss. The one thing I would suggest is you check your to-go order making sure everything you ordered is inside that bag. Obviously dessert is always a necessity here and they have the best selection. Never say no to dessert. Ever. read more

I do not recommend this la madeleine. Soup was practically cold. Salad was too vinegary, and the children's pasta was watery with lumps in it! The child with us refused point blank to eat. Had to ask for cutlery even to eat. I got the salad remade and they didn't even bother with croutons or Parmesan. Evidently everything is too much a burden - like work! I've written before about La Madeleine's history in Dallas. I've also,pontificated on their decline that stated about ten years ago. That's why I was surprised to find a brand new La Madeleine sitting in the far northern suburbs. I decided to give my go to La Madeleine order a try. The American Breakfast. Consisting of two scrambled eggs, four bacon strips and a fresh croissant. The secret here is the scrambling of the eggs,which after years of perfection has been off lately. I'm happy to report my American Breakfast while good,can be improved on by...you guessed it. I am a frequent patron of La Madeleine in different locations. Sometimes service can be long during the busy lunch and dinner hours, but this can be expected. I was in this area for meeting today and saw this La madeleine. I had a really bad experience on the Belt line Addison location previously, it took me a moment before I decided to walk in to give it another try. This location is very clean. Everyone is very friendly, happy & helpful. Once I walk in, the server already greet me. Wonderful service, great place to hang out. Pastries still the same like before, delicious. We love La Madeleine and visit a few times a year to get our Tomato Basil soup and Cesar salad fix. This is our first visit to the McKinney location and we like that it seems a little brighter and airier than the other locations. Frederick was the young man that ran the register and he was the nicest! His customer service was impeccable. With Covid, the flatware and bread are now behind the counter. When my daughter asked for additional bread slices he obliged happily. Gotta have that bread to dip in the soup ya know! The employees on the service line making salad and dishing up soup were also very professional and attentive. By far the best La Madeleine we have ever visited. And as an added bonus, who doesn't love learning French while visiting the restroom. The recording of French class always makes us giggle. read more

I've been here a handful of times for breakfast. I always forget about this place. I love the inside decor; they have a variety to choose from. And for a chain; they're not terrible. Don't worry about your trays and trash at the end, they pick it up when you've left. It was a little chilly in there, but I was too busy once I started to eat that I warmed up. Also, first time I brushed off an incompetence of the workers there, but second time they were pretty incompetent again. Two people at the cashier register had no idea what they were doing, needed help and then dared to act frustrated with me. Was that toast to pay off your frustrations with me? Enjoyed a full, delicious meal with my family at this new location. There were many servers and employees that were happy to address our questions and check in with us. We decided to dine in and were glad the tables allowed for social distancing (every other table was closed). We tried the Caesar Salad, Strawberry Bacon Spinach Salad, Cream of Mushroom Soup, County Potato Soup, French Onion Soup, Chicken La Madeleine, Pesto Pasta w/ chicken, Vanilla Parfait, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and Liberte Tart. Appetizers (Salad + Soup) The salads were flavorful and fresh. The soups were all delicious, though the Onion soup was too salty for my taste. Entrees The Chicken La Mad. was nicely plated and served w/ broccoli and mashed potato. The broccoli was a bit too soft and bland, but with the mushroom sauce poured over, it was alright. The Pesto Pasta was creamy and generously served with sauce and bread. Dessert The Vanilla Parfait was mediocre, but a small portion size. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was huge and just the right texture for me (in between soft and crunchy). The Liberte Tart was tiny but pretty good, topped with fruit and whipped cream.
