They have totally cleaned up the restaurant from previous owners. The menu is well organized and pretty comprehensive. Menu items are priced comparable to local competitors. The meals we ordered were exactly as we ordered them and were fairly hot. It seems they have a cart to take the food to the tables (different but not bad) and the time it takes to roll it out, seems like it can lend itself to delays in getting dishes to the tables/customers. Wanted to let everyone know that this cafe is open under new management. Totally remodeled and you are paying for that by what you pay for your food. 16.99 for Mom's breakfast. Which is your normal two egg breakfast. The eggs came out looking like they came off a dirty grill and mine ended up not being over easy. The hashbrowns were soggy not crispy. We found out during the meal that we got a second meat asked her to put it in a to go box. It was 7.98 for two coffees. The coffee was lukewarm warm and had a funky taste to it. Like it was not completely rinsed out. Our entire tab was $45.42 FOR BREAKFAST. The food was sub par and way overpriced. We have been coming here for years. After an early casting of my ballot down the street,I sought out this spot for some heavy fuel to propel me through the day. This cafe has been here forever and about 15 years since I've eaten here . It used to be crowded throughout their breakfast and lunch operating hours. However,8:30 and I'm the only one here? I immediately feel on guard and ready to make a decision to leave before I have an average breakfast experience. The friendly waitress finally appears handing out menus and taking drink orders. I ask her if there's been a change of ownership and she responds "yes a new Partnership". At least she was honest. I've seen it a lot lately. These older traditional family run cafes changing hands due to retirement,death or fatigue. It's predictable as the once well oiled machine begins slipping. I decided to throw caution to the wind and give it a chance. I'm glad I did. They serve up a multitude of daily breakfast plates for $12+ dollars. Ours were decent but not memorable. New management - don't bother. The wait at the host desk to even get on a list was way long, and the food took way too long for what it is. My smothered burrito was fine but the migas just had cut up frozen sausage patties in it and the chips weren't cooked in there with the eggs. All the staff is new including the cooks, and they dont know how to make the 3 items on the menu that survived from the before times. None of the classics are still available. The front of house staff is really nice and doing their best with what they've got, though. Looking forward to trying whatever restaurant replaces this one in a few months! read more

We were in Allen to try out another place but they were to go only and we were not aware. So instead we decided to check this place out since we passed it on the way to the other place. This appears to be a local spot that mostly carters to people in Allen. It gives a local only type of vibe by which I mean that everyone is friendly and even the people at the table beside us helped me decide what to get with their recommendations. The menu has all types of items for breakfast and lunch plus they have daily special dishes. There is a strong Mexican food influence on the menu so is great for when dealing with someone who can't decide what they want to eat. I ordered the cowboy chicken with scrambled eggs after our table neighbors recommended it. The chicken was cooked well and was still moist. The gravy wasn't the best I had but still enjoyable. Mixed with the bacon, eggs, and biscuit, it's not a meal you take lightly. Overall I enjoyed our visit and would go back again to try some other items. read more

This cafe was one of our favorite breakfast spots in Allen. Unfortunately they closed last Nov. New owners have started it back up but it's poor at best. We stopped there Sunday morning to give it a try- we ended up waiting for an hour before we got food. The food was lukewarm to cold, had no flavor- cooked without salt pepper etc. Sausage was cheap frozen patties not fresh like before. bacon was cold. About the only thing that was palatable was the pancake and the coffee- although the pancake was only warm. This may have been a fluke - maybe all but one kitchen staff called in sick? It seemed to us they only had one person in the kitchen and they didnt really know how to run a kitchen. But if so the manager that was hanging around the dining area should have been in back helping cook. It is definitely not the same as before. We will give it one more chance and if it has not improved after a few weeks we will take it off of our rotation. read more

Save your money and go to Allen Cafe for a better meal & service. Slow service. Pancakes were cake like consistency and the restaurant restricts syrup vs having a jug on the table. With those pancakes you need at least 2x the syrup they initially provide. For a cheap condiment, it seems silly! Also, someone at the table order eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were hard. My husband wanted breakfast for lunch. We decided to give this place a try.He ordered an omelette with hash browns. I prefer lunch food so I planned to order a patty melt that I saw on their website. It was not on the menu. I ordered a BLT with fries. I was told they had no fryer, so no fries or onion rings. Then I was told they had no burgers and the avocados were too hard. Spacious, fairly quiet, clean environment. Very friendly and fast service. We ordered migas with chorizo, and I had guajillo barbecue pulled pork chilaquiles. The migas looked very good, and my chilaquiles were both unique and delicious. Very large size portions. The owner came around toward the end and offered us a free sample of his special coffee. He explained that he infuses Madagascar vanilla, Peruvian chocolate, molasses, and spice into it. It was very delicious! I've never tasted anything quite like it. A friend of mine and I went for breakfast this morning. Service was phenomenal- the servers were attentive and efficient. The menu is extensive and I love that they have turkey bacon. I also came to find out that their meat is halal, which is a super bonus. While they do offer chorizo (made of pork) but it's cooked in a slow cooker, separately from the halal meat. So I just literally walked out of this place. I get there and order a hot chocolate. While waiting two waiters argued about who has several tables including mine. So then the guy who took my hot chocolate order comes back about ten mins later saying it's in the microwave. In the meantime people who've gotten there well after me are ordering food. He finally comes back with an ice cold hot chocolate. I went to the register where he was with the manager (or maybe owner) and tell him it was ice cold and they couldn't care less. Let me start this off by saying that I hardly ever have an experience at a diner where I leave the highest ratings. At first glance, I wasn't very intrigued, just a basic exterior, nothing special. But then I walked in and my attitude about the place instantly changed. The interior was impressive, all the tables had flowers, the dining area was very clean and I felt at home the second I walked through the door. I was instantly greeted with a warm welcome and a smile from the hostess and instantly sat at a table. The server came to me with an amazing attitude and at that point I felt confident that I wouldnt experience any problems. It didn't take long after I ordered for the food to be delivered and let me just say, I was not disappointed. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious. So full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The server constantly came to check up on me and was friendly the whole time I was there. I give them props for being super attentive even though it was busy. In short, the interior was homey, the service was amazing and the food was incredible. I would say that this little cafe deserves 5 stars. read more

I love that the menu has stayed the same because I definitely have my favorites, I love their Mexican breakfasts. I believe they have changed owners again since my last visit and while the menu is the same the food is not. I used to LOVE their salsa, like would order it by the bowl and now it is barely tolerable. This place is good! Perfect breakfast spot. Mostly an older crowd but good mix of families. It's evidently been around for awhile but met the new owners today during our meal. Francisco, who's been in the industry for 25 years, and his family now running it. Service is a little relaxed but it was still attentive once the owner had stopped by. The food was good my meal came out perfect-eggs over medium, crispy bacon, and crisp hash browns. The other meal was hash browns with stacked sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuit covered in gravy. Gravy was a little thin but that is preference Perfectly priced for a neighborhood breakfast café. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Absolutely horrible. We ordered through Grubhub because we wanted breakfast but didn't want to venture out with the kids this morning. Not only did the order get messed up but we were also missing food. Our food also arrived ICE cold, as if it was sitting in a fridge waiting to be picked up. I ordered the Denver omelet style scramble, with toast. Not only was there no flavor whatsoever to my eggs but the potatoes were also undercooked as well as no flavor at all. My "toast" was also two slices of raw Untoasted unbuttered bread. Husband ordered the strawberries and cream waffle, for $11 we expected a lot more than an undercooked plain waffle that had no cream and wilted strawberries in a cup on the side. Literally a store bought frozen Eggo waffle tastes better. Ordered two side orders of hash browns and only received one order. We got plain pancakes for the kids and needless to say they both took one bite and refused to eat rest. First and last time ever eating here. I get most restaurants will be better quality dining in but if you want to get and keep customers that quality should be the same no matter how the food is ordered. This place embodies hometown family diner. With that being said after waiting 45 minutes for our food and watching not 1 not 2 but 5 people who came in after us get their food before us. My burger was delicious and that alone was worth the whole visit. Now, my Texas fries came with no ranch and after pointing that out I still didn't get it. We got our French toast with no syrup and had to wait until they were cold before he brought out our syrup. My sister ordered the fajita skillet....it should have been labeled a steak skillet because of the lack of fajita seasoning or any seasoning for that matter. We ordered the peach cobbler with so much hope that a small town diner would have amazing pie but it was severely undercooked and disappointing. I did however notice a older crowd and just assuming that's why there was little to no seasoning or salt on anything. So overall my first experience was garbage. Yelp Review for 2017 # 2 I read the reviews while sitting in my car and this place just does not have a good read. I have passed by here multiple times knowing that one day I would stop here for lunch. I disregarded the low ratings and reviews that appeared to be one-sided 5 Star reviews. I did not trust that little voice in my head that said" NOOO don't do it" I went in anyways. Huge regrets about eating here. The prices are truly reasonable and the service was first-class from the server Rosa. Unfortunately, that is where it stops. The food, well, my tummy is now upset and its hours later. I abandoned the majority of the food on the plate. I had the number 13 with 2 breakfast egg burritos and the worst home fries ever plated. The potatoes were over-sized, flavorless, under-cooked and no amount of ketchup could fix those 'tators. The burrito itself had an odd taste of waffle batter. The salsa was ordinary. I only ate 1/2 of one burrito. Just couldn't do it. The Yelp site did offer up a 10% discount, I discarded it. With 99.9% probability, that I won't be back to eat another meal here.
