What a horrible experience at Habitat. I came during the McKinney Art Festival, which was clearly a mistake, because they were completely understaffed. We ordered two drinks and the cashier did not mention that there was a wait at all. Only after we paid, when we commented on how many cups were in the queue, did she mention the wait would probably be 20 minutes or so. The wait was FIFTY MINUTES! For two coffees! The girls were lovely and probably overwhelmed, so I understand it was stressful, but I have to wonder why they continued to accept drink orders knowing they were this backed up. It felt very irresponsible and disrespectful to everyone's time. I ordered the lucky charms latte, and it tasted exactly like lavender. I hate lavender in a drink and would never have ordered it if I had known. I actually ended up buying a new latte from Bresnan because it was so bad. Cute shop and again, they are very friendly, but the way this weekend was handed is completely unacceptable. Nothing was offered to all of us who had to wait almost an hour for our drinks, either. Honestly I have been here over 5 times in the last two weeks. Prior to that I had only been in once or twice before they expanded. I wasn't a real fan before but I saw they expanded and wanted to give it another shot. The place is still super cute inside and now more spacious. The coffee is delicious and there are two baristas there that are just so friendly every time. I love that they have a shop within the coffee shop. This is the CUTEST plant store/coffee shop. I'm in search of the best matcha so I had to try it out. Once you walk in, you feel an instant sense of fresh air which you have the plants to thank. The pastry options were plentiful. I went with a cinnamon roll and my toddler wanted the chocolate donut which happened to be gluten free. Both were tasty. I had the cinnamon roll warmed up and would suggest you to do the same if you order it. It helps the icing to get warm so that you can spread it around. I ordered the strawberry matcha which they call very berry. The let me know they make all the syrups in house which I appreciate. There is plenty of seating so that you can enjoy your pastry and drink. My husband had an iced coffee with pistachio syrup and he liked it as well. Really cute spot. I already love a plant shop/cafe concept so I was biased walking in (or that's what drew me in, you decide), but I was surprised at how much space there was inside. Great space to sit and work/chat/shop. I've also heard that they have some hosting space in the back(?) which I didn't get to see but would like to go back and witness. I popped in on a Saturday morning after the McKinney farmers market. The seasonal blueberry latte was good (a little too sweet for me but I'll ask for half sweet next time). I love a shop that gets creative with flavors for the season and a blueberry latte can be so nostalgic oddly enough. My friend's strawberry matcha was great too! This was a ways drive for me but it was totally worth it for the vibe that I was going for! Service was really nice and I didn't feel like I was being judged for not knowing what i wanted. I got one of their seasonal drinks (you can do either matcha or latte) and it was okay. I do wish that the flavoring (I believe it was almond) was a tad bit stronger. I'm sure they can make that happen if you requested it. It was my first time there so I didn't know but I'll be sure to ask them next time! The design of the store was so cute and green. I've noticed that the ladies that work here do not like Men. I waited behind two orders that were all females and the barista was just talking away with them asking them how there day was, greeted them with a smile, and asked them about if they tried there pastries. If you are a lover of plants like I am then you will definitely love this cute coffee shop/nursery! I happened to be passing by and saw the shop on my way home from the library. If I would have known there was a coffee shop that close to the library I would have walked over and read my books there. When I walked in I couldn't believe the number of plants that were packed into the place! All kinds of potted delights await a plant lover and a variety of drinks await the coffee/ tea lover! Also, there is free Wi-Fi which makes it a good place for working and studying. Other than the beautiful plants it is your typical coffee shop! There are a few tables and chairs to sit in the front of the shop and a sofa and a few accent chairs to sit in the back area of the shop. The rest of the space is filled with beautiful foliage from a host of different plants. There were two young ladies working on the day I went in and both were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I enjoyed looking at the plants and learning about them while I sipped my tea. My boys were equally as excited to look at all of the different plants. My youngest asked a bunch of questions and one of the young women had an answer for everyone, so it was also a learning experience for him! Now on the the drinks, the coffee bar is located in back of the coffee shop to the right. There we quite a few drinks to choose from. I settled on the lavender matcha which was absolutely delicious! It wasn't too sweet nor did matcha or lavender flavors overpower the drink, the flavors went well together and the oat milk made the drink smooth and creamy!
