I'd ordered food from here via Uber Eats several times, and the experience has always been positive. The food is delicious, and the taste in pretty consistent. I recently chose to try out dining in. The guys behind the counter are nice enough, the place is clean; nothing fancy, and the food is still delicious. The Gyro Shop is our typical go to for ordering greek food and I'll continue to do so since we love the food. I don't see much reason to dine in as this place is not really geared to be a fancy dine in, but more so a food on the go or order out type of place. We typically order the chicken platter. They give you a generous portion of chicken, and the feta cheese is nice and fresh. I also love the hummus here, its very smooth and very fresh. Again, the food is delicious and they have their niche. I will continue to order here when we have a desire to order this type of food. read more

Got their combo platter $12.99 which consisted of lamb, chicken, rice, tomato, lettuce, corn, onion, and cucumber. Not a traditional salad, but not bad. Comes with white sauce (regular) and red sauce (very hot). Portion size was huge. Shop is small, with 2-3 tables, more of a take out place. Order was very quick. They made our order while we were ordering, so we only waited a couple minutes. The drive there took longer than getting our food! Overall, it was alright. The meat itself was really salty, and the white sauce was just okay. They stay open pretty late, so not a bad food option if you're up late and starving. read more

I was looking for something delicious to eat after a long day of work. It was about 10:14 pm and my boyfriend came across this shop. We like trying new things especially if the reviews are good. When I arrived to the shop, I was greeted immediately and I placed my order. The inside appeared clean and neat and the cashier was very nice. I ordered the chicken/lamb combo over rice with extra lamb. My order was ready in under 15 minutes which really had me skeptical and curious. I peaked at my food and the temp was perfect and the smell made me smile. When I made it home- my boyfriend and I devoured our food. Will definitely be returning. Visited here late night on a Sunday and the rice and veggies still tasted so fresh and yummy! They are very generous with the toppings and the sauce and they fry the falafel on the spot after you order. As a huge falafel fan- their falafels are really good but the rice may be one of the best I've had! Sooo glad we stopped at The Gyro Shop for lunch today! We got the lamb over rice, chicken over rice, a combo, fries, and chapli kababs--and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The food was incredibly flavorful and fresh--you can truly taste the quality in every bite. I would like to update my previous and harsh review. After giving The Gyro Shop a few more chances, their food quality has once again gone up. The service is still a bit wonky, from missing sauces to no A/C the last time I visited - I believe they still have a bit of work to do. I would also like to note that they still have the aluminum bowls in their store, and if you ask, they will make your bowl in those instead of the styrofoam containers I evidently despise. The prices are still drastically higher than previous, but I will say this is once again one of my go to spots - especially for some late night food. Something I would like to note is that while you may have to pay extra for certain ingredients on food delivery apps, I've noticed you don't have to if you build your bowl in store - which should be corrected on their apps. read more

Customer Service is bad to terrible on most days unless you get the owner. They do not greet you, they roll their eyes, and they have airpods in. Their only redeeming factor is the food is very good which is why it gets 3 stars. If you have it delivered, then 5 stars. read more

Bacteria in their food. I do not like leaving a bad review but what I really do not like is bad bacteria in my food. Ate their basic gyro. Tasted great. 2-3 hours after eating I had bad nausea. Woke up this morning with all liquid coming out after sitting on the toilet. Irritating and ruined my day. Still dealing with this as I write this. Health dept in Plano needs to visit this place. Lamb gyro is what I had. I do not give places that make me sick of course a second chance. Pissed read more

We were some of the original regulars to this place years ago when it first opened. We moved a bit farther away since then so this was our first time back in quite a while and we definitely noticed some changes. First things first, the food is definitely still good. Good flavor and quality so I'll give them that. But the price and has definitely gone up and there are definitely toppings missing from the bar where you used to be able to order it. Instead of it being more like a "subway" style where they go down the line and you tell them what you want and customize it they basically want to know up front what you want on it and they just make it. Want feta cheese? More $$. Want garbanzos? More $$. They have definitely simplified the whole operation and tried to streamline it which, while I get it from a business perspective, makes it not as interesting as a consumer. Especially one who knows how it used to be. We got 3 platters and it was around $45 after tax. That's kind of a lot for what is really just a fast food place. Don't get me wrong, the meats, rice, and sauces are good and what holds it together and the serving size is decent. But I can take the three of us to our favorite dine-in place with table service and get a few drinks and apps and be out the door for about $55-$60. This just starts to feel a bit pricey for what is supposed to be "fast" Mediterranean food. Also, other reviews called out the change to styrofoam boxes over the nice aluminum plates from before and I noticed and commented on that to my family when we went to eat it. It was much, MUCH nicer as a bowl. Overall the food tastes good I guess. But if you were an original customer of this place and knew what's changed you might be disappointed too. It's lost a little of what we loved about it in the past primarily being the good value, more options/customization, and the original service had a bit more of a "personal" touch to it back then. The personal touch kind of is lost in favor of what feels like more streamlined/efficient operations. Not sure if we will make the effort to return with the noticeable changes. It's too bad really. read more

As usual, I want this business to succeed, but... If you enjoy WINDEX in your vegetables, then this is all you. I appreciate the big guy there wanting to keep the counter clean, but UNDER NO circumstance should you be using a WINDEX spray/nozzle gun around food (and only sometimes sprayed it into a napkin to wipe things down). No way you can convince me Windex isn't going into the vegetables. read more

The food was pretty good. The chicken is well cooked and has some good spice and lots of seasoning. The sauces also mesh very well together with the spicy red and garlic white sauce. Lastly the pita bread was very soft and held my sandwich together very well. The service was good as I was greeted and served appropriately and very quickly. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We had it delivered. The portions were a good size but the quality was awful. My lamb and chicken gyro was very generous but the feta tasted so old and rotten , it was like someone put bleu cheese on it instead. I could not eat it. Nice clean place. Ordered Lamb Gyro sandwich, Waffle fries and Baklava. I originally came for the Halal Bros bowl knock-off, but I went with the gyro. I did not care for the gyro, the meat did not come from a spit, it was chopped in little cubes in a pan. The tomatoes and cucumbers were in cubes as well. The was ok. The cube sized ingredients are shared between the bowl and the sandwiches. This hurts the sandwich; the little cubes keep falling all over the place. They used the "White Sauce" which did not have much flavor, I would have preferred the traditional tzatziki for the gyro, perhaps it was available, and I did not ask. The Waffle fries were ok. Liked the Baklava. I will come back and try the bowl. The service was good. read more

This might be one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I had to come back a few days later to make sure what I had wasn't a fluke and it was not! I had the combination plate I think it's called and it was absolutely amazing! I think this business has been sold to a new owner, there's no beef on the menu anymore and the entire crew is indian not arab or middle eastern anymore. Food is fresh when we go and they're open late.....I just miss my old menu items. Also the chicken has no flavor so stick to the lamb. read more

The Mac & cheese that I ordered as a part of this platter was also room temperature and "tart" -- not too sure if this is how it is regularly served but I'll pass next time. We had been eating small bites all day so thankfully we weren't famished when we ordered and I do appreciate the honesty of our server when she stated that this "1/3 lb beef brisket platter" would only be good enough for 1 person. I'm SO glad we didn't order another plate. I would hate wasting so much food. The location itself is spacious and there is ample parking for days when it may be crowded. We were the only diners there during our short time so it's hard to say when they may actually be busy. 2Taste may be great for those with an underdeveloped BBQ taste, but it's a pass for me.

It was clean, simple decor but tasteful, and plenty of room to sit about 40 people. I was there to meet someone for lunch, and it was her suggestion to meet at Board Bites. I was told it's a family owned Mediterranean restaurant. And I will say, the person who took our order was very engaged with us and truly nice. It did have a family feel while I was there. And everyone cared about my experience. I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl and it was very tasty. I'm that girl who likes dressing, and the sauce on my bowl was the perfect amount to not overwhelm the bowl. We were the first customers, but within minutes, the restaurant filled up. That speaks volumes to me about the food. I will definitely go back and try something new next time.

That last comes out crispy, thick and with a spicy garlic mayo that's to die for. If they improve across the board like that it's a winner.
