My friend and I try a new breakfast spot around Frisco every time we get a chance. This place came in my IG feed and it looked divine. I ordered their French toast and two sunny side up eggs with extra crispy bacon. I asked her twice to please make it super crispy. The best part about my breakfast ended being my plain sunny side up eggs. Followed by the thin, soft grilled bacon that somehow came not crispy and lastly the French toast. Three dry, D-R-Y pieces of toast, with no custard flavor or moistness. It was almost just plain toast with a side of fruit compote, not what was served to the influencer on that reel. I powered through one toast and left the other two, because they were m not worth the calories. In the couple of times we saw our server, she asked how was the food and I told her about the toast, (this was at almost the end of our meal) as a suggestion. She said she would have it made gain, and she did in about 10-15 min, so that was great, but her good intentions felt short when the French toast was still dry, although with a slight soft top. Imagine barely toasted toast with powered sugar. Sigh. My friends breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and fruit was unremarkable too. Service was 5/10'just because she tried to correct the kitchen issue (although late). Overall with tip we spent $50 for a meal not up to par with other great breakfast restaurants in the area,, a complete let down as the place looks amazing and the patio was so inviting. If the food had been at least as good as Morning Bliss, Cracked & Crepe,, Brunch at Lilly's, Frisco Starwood or Biscuit just to name a few great ones, this place would become our new go to place, based on ambiance and the patio, but it just missed the high bar by a lot. It's super slow.. there are lots of brunch places around so competition is fierce. Waited 10+ mins to take the order and then they didn't check if we had silverware or enough waters. Ordered Coffee, kids pancakes with fruit and fries(both kinds) and Ranchero Skillet. Kids loved their breakfast, Skillet was meh. We visited Broken Yolk Café in McKinney and there are definitely some positives to note. The interior is very nicely done -- clean, inviting, with plenty of space between tables so it doesn't feel crowded. They also have a great oversized covered patio that opens up to a large, well-maintained community green space. It's a great setup for families with kids who may want some room to move around. Service was also a strong point. They were well staffed, the hosts and servers were friendly, our order was taken quickly, and the food arrived to the table without delay. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. We ordered the Cowboy Skillet and the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast. Both dishes looked promising but were surprisingly bland and lacked the flavor and seasoning you would expect from a spot that has such a polished look and atmosphere. Nothing was technically wrong with the food -- it just didn't have much taste. Pricing is reasonable, which we appreciated, but overall the quality of the food didn't match the ambiance or service. Been planning to have breakfast at this place for some time now and we finally made it here today! Spacious, Airy with both inside and patio dining this pace has tons of seating. Sammie (Samantha ) took care of all our needs very courteously and kindly. The food was brought out to us as soon as they were ready and till then our cup of coffee was constantly filled to the brim! The Avocado toast was a hugh slice and accompanied by 2 poached eggs which we shared. Took my brothers out to Broken Yolk Cafe at their McKinney location. They're about 2 years old and have a back yard patio as well as some really nice area in the back similar to the one at the legacy west food court. I got the ranchero skillet and avocado toast and my brothers got the tres leches French toast and the chicken and waffle and sope egg Benedict. My ranchero skillet had chorizo, Serrano peppers and sautéed onions, home fries, jack cheese, sunny side up eggs, avocado, red onion, cilantro, and ranchero sauce. This was so much good and heavy I got very fully just from this alone. I don't think I even finished it. I was caught off guard by the home fries. I did not expect them to be circular slices of potatoes, I usually prefer like hash browns. Some of the pieces on the bottom were burnt and very crispy. I had no complaints other than that. The avocado toast had smashed avocado, poached eggs, and "everything but the bagel" seasoning on artisan bread. I mainly got this because I saw the poached eggs. I don't know if it was the bagel seasoning or the smashed avocado but I felt like I tasted too much of a citrusy/lime flavor. One of my brother thought his French toast was yummy and the other thought the Benedict's were okay, the flavor was good but some items were a little over done. read more

We hosted our daughter's Welcome Party the night before her wedding at The Broken Yolk Cafe for about 70 guests, and it could not have been more perfect! We happened to meet the friendly owner, John, while walking by one afternoon and mentioned we were from out of town looking for a place to host our event. He told us they rent out the restaurant in the evenings. Many of our guests were staying at the nearby Denizen Hotel, which made the location incredibly convenient. I have to say John Zhang and the entire team went above and beyond to make our event special, fun and stress-free. The food was absolutely excellent. I'll admit, I was a little unsure at first since it's known as a breakfast restaurant, but the quality and quantity exceeded all expectations -- kudos to the chef! The drinks were great, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was so fun and welcoming. As an added bonus, there happened to be an outdoor concert that evening, so many of our guests enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to live music. It made the night even more memorable. Thank you, John and the entire Broken Yolk team, for helping make our daughter's wedding weekend so special. The vibe is nice and friendly on a Saturday morning not too long of a wait, about 20 minutes. The food was okay. I got the Salmon avocado toast, and it was really hard to eat. I'm glad I didn't come with any makeup on because I was constantly wiping my mouth having to take really big bites to get anything in my mouth. First time dining here and I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. It was busy, but I used the check-in online option and the wait wasn't long at all. The server was polite and attentive and the food arrived fairly quickly considering how busy they were. I ordered the Mile High omelet with a side of home fries and an English muffin with an iced tea. The omelet was good with a fair amount of ingredients. The homes fries weren't your typical home fries, but were good. Just wish there was a little more. The English muffin was good sized and reminded me of the Thomas brand. For me, the price of the iced tea at $4.25 was way overpriced. Almost all other breakfast places I dine at are almost half that price. The food prices also seemed to be on the high side. I dine out for breakfast every Sunday and have hit so many great places for $10-$12 less for meals for two. I don't mind paying extra if the food is spectacular, but this was not the case. Don't get me wrong, the food was good and well-prepared, but it wasn't anything special for the increased cost. Parking isn't the greatest here. If it's busy, you'll be hard pressed to find a parking spot that is close to the restaurant. The inside/decor of the restaurant was nice and it was a big place with plenty of seating. Our server was great and checked on us the right amount and always made sure our drinks were refilled. We had an amazing experience at Broken Yolk Cafe! A group of 17 of us dined together on the outdoor patio, and everything from start to finish was fantastic. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and handled our large group with ease. The food was outstanding -- every single person in our party enjoyed their meal, which says a lot. This was our first time visiting, and it exceeded all expectations. We also had the opportunity to meet the owners, who were absolutely wonderful and made us feel genuinely welcome.
