I've been here a couple of times for brunch and I am a fan of their offering. The inside seating consists of lots of table/chair combos along with booth seating. There is also bar seating which has one side inside the restaurant and the other side is on the patio. Because the weather was decent on my visits, each time I sat at the bar, on the side accessible from the patio. They have a huge menu with lots to choose from which on first glance can be a little intimidating. In the end, I went with the Mom Omelet which came with a side and a choice of bread. For the side, I chose Home Fries and for the bread I chose the biscuit. As if that wasn't enough food, I opted for a side Buttermilk pancake to complete the order. I was thoroughly impressed with my choices and ended up eating everything but the biscuit which I took home for later. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and welcoming. The bar staff was super attentive and did a great job of ensuring I had what I needed when I needed it. Great service, tasty food and beverages; Broken Yolk is a solid brunch spot! read more

I had the same issue, a while back, with cold eggs and rude service. I let it slide. I was prompted to write this review after seeing a review on Collin County foodies where the manager told a customer, who also had cold eggs, "Get out of my face bitch". JFC! It's my sincere hope ownership reads that review so this manager, who's the face of the franchise, can get addn'l training in customer service. This restaurant with another one on our long list of brunch restaurants to try on Saturday mornings. Place is conveniently located on the side of 121 so finding it was a breeze parking can be a little tricky, but there's plenty of parking all around. We got seated within minutes of arriving and there seem to be a little to no wait! Our server is quick and attentive! It seemed like they were trying to over tables pretty quickly. I got the breakfast burrito and my husband got two different mix and match eggs benedict's. Our breakfast burrito was delicious and super filling. My friend and I try a new breakfast spot around Frisco every time we get a chance. This place came in my IG feed and it looked divine. I ordered their French toast and two sunny side up eggs with extra crispy bacon. I asked her twice to please make it super crispy. The best part about my breakfast ended being my plain sunny side up eggs. Followed by the thin, soft grilled bacon that somehow came not crispy and lastly the French toast. Three dry, D-R-Y pieces of toast, with no custard flavor or moistness. It was almost just plain toast with a side of fruit compote, not what was served to the influencer on that reel. I powered through one toast and left the other two, because they were m not worth the calories. In the couple of times we saw our server, she asked how was the food and I told her about the toast, (this was at almost the end of our meal) as a suggestion. She said she would have it made gain, and she did in about 10-15 min, so that was great, but her good intentions felt short when the French toast was still dry, although with a slight soft top. Imagine barely toasted toast with powered sugar. Sigh. My friends breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and fruit was unremarkable too. Service was 5/10'just because she tried to correct the kitchen issue (although late). Overall with tip we spent $50 for a meal not up to par with other great breakfast restaurants in the area,, a complete let down as the place looks amazing and the patio was so inviting. If the food had been at least as good as Morning Bliss, Cracked & Crepe,, Brunch at Lilly's, Frisco Starwood or Biscuit just to name a few great ones, this place would become our new go to place, based on ambiance and the patio, but it just missed the high bar by a lot. Starting with the positives: Beautifully decorated, lots of seating, lovely shaded patio, expansive menu and awesome online waiting list. The bad? It's super slow.. there are lots of brunch places around so competition is fierce. Waited 10+ mins to take the order and then they didn't check if we had silverware or enough waters. Ordered Coffee, kids pancakes with fruit and fries(both kinds) and Ranchero Skillet. Kids loved their breakfast, Skillet was meh. The red onion topped over powered the flavor and it was difficult to get past the strong uncooked onion flavor. We ordered- CLASSIC AVOCADO TOAST Thick sliced artisan grain bread lightly toasted and topped with fresh avocado, two poached eggs, and "everything but the bagel" seasoning. From the Benedict section we choose two - CAPRESE BENEDICT A toasted English muffin topped with arugula, fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomato, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and a pesto basil drizzle. We visited Broken Yolk Café in McKinney and there are definitely some positives to note. The interior is very nicely done -- clean, inviting, with plenty of space between tables so it doesn't feel crowded. They also have a great oversized covered patio that opens up to a large, well-maintained community green space. It's a great setup for families with kids who may want some room to move around. Service was also a strong point. They were well staffed, the hosts and servers were friendly, our order was taken quickly, and the food arrived to the table without delay. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. We ordered the Cowboy Skillet and the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast. Both dishes looked promising but were surprisingly bland and lacked the flavor and seasoning you would expect from a spot that has such a polished look and atmosphere. Nothing was technically wrong with the food -- it just didn't have much taste. Pricing is reasonable, which we appreciated, but overall the quality of the food didn't match the ambiance or service. We'd be open to trying it again in the future, hoping the kitchen finds a bit more flavor balance, because the place itself has a lot going for it. read more

Been planning to have breakfast at this place for some time now and we finally made it here today! Spacious, Airy with both inside and patio dining this pace has tons of seating. Sammie (Samantha ) took care of all our needs very courteously and kindly. The food was brought out to us as soon as they were ready and till then our cup of coffee was constantly filled to the brim! The Avocado toast was a hugh slice and accompanied by 2 poached eggs which we shared. Sammie was awesome!!! She was our waiter. I ordered an omelette that got two sides, the plates are big! My mom got the pumpkin pancakes, and when they didn't come out right to the table- Sammie took it back right away to finish adding the toppings without us even asking. Thank you Sammie! I have to start by saying service could have been better. Food was ok, nothing special. Of all the things we ordered the Sweet Trio was probably my favorite. The Tiki Toast was delicious! All the savory things we ordered were decent. I ordered a benedict that had a chicken tender and was doused some kind of cheddar sauce (I think). The sauce was too thick and made the dish so heavy. Took my brothers out to Broken Yolk Cafe at their McKinney location. They're about 2 years old and have a back yard patio as well as some really nice area in the back similar to the one at the legacy west food court. I got the ranchero skillet and avocado toast and my brothers got the tres leches French toast and the chicken and waffle and sope egg Benedict. My ranchero skillet had chorizo, Serrano peppers and sautéed onions, home fries, jack cheese, sunny side up eggs, avocado, red onion, cilantro, and ranchero sauce. This was so much good and heavy I got very fully just from this alone. I don't think I even finished it. I was caught off guard by the home fries. I did not expect them to be circular slices of potatoes, I usually prefer like hash browns. Some of the pieces on the bottom were burnt and very crispy. I had no complaints other than that. The avocado toast had smashed avocado, poached eggs, and "everything but the bagel" seasoning on artisan bread. I mainly got this because I saw the poached eggs. I don't know if it was the bagel seasoning or the smashed avocado but I felt like I tasted too much of a citrusy/lime flavor. One of my brother thought his French toast was yummy and the other thought the Benedict's were okay, the flavor was good but some items were a little over done. read more

Broken Yolk Café has become one of my favorite breakfast spots in McKinney. I live just down the street and grab to-go from here often, but dining in is always a treat too. The pancakes with bacon are my go-to--fluffy, filling, and just plain delicious. Their fresh juices are a nice touch (way better than the usual bottled stuff), and the biscuits and gravy hold their own compared to other local spots. The vibe here is great too. Inside has that classic breakfast hustle-and-bustle--busy but enjoyable--and on a nice day, the back patio is a solid option if you want something a little more relaxed. It is a little on the pricier side depending on what you order, and the service can run a bit slow sometimes, but honestly, it's never been bad enough to keep me from coming back. Overall, this is a solid spot for breakfast or brunch in McKinney. Between the food, the fresh juice, the atmosphere, and the convenience of their to-go, I'd call it a 4.5-star experience. read more
