Ventured to pie tap and had an enjoyable experience. It was the perfect night to sit on the covered patio, love the vibes of this location. We ordered the half bird and the chicken pizza (pie). Let's start with the positives. Loved the chicken pizza. It truly is an excellently executed dish with bbq sauce. Would highly recommend it. The half bird was a different story. Had vibes of baking some boring chicken that is barely seasoned and put a little hot sauce on it. It had a sauce with it that didn't add to the dish and was runny in consistency. So we went back! Every great thing about our first visit carried over! A couple of new observations... The Caesar salad has just a hint of lemon, very refreshing on a really hot Texas day. Had the BBQ Chicken pizza this time, delicious! One really enjoyable element, the jalapeños. It's always hit and miss on how hot they are and how they effect individual bites. Food is fine but expect a very slow wait time for food. It seems like the back of the house needs to be staffed more or something. Not to mention when the food does arrive half of the table is missing their food for more than 5-10 minutes. We actually had two instances of happen to us. Hit up Pie Tap and a very good experience. First off, the service was outstanding. No complaints there. We started with the Garlic Rosemary Bread Puffs which were really good. They were cooked well and quite tasty. For my main, I went with Wagyu Smash Burger. It arrived hot and cooked well. It was also very tasty with just the right amount of heat. First time trying this place, despite it being right next to MiCo. I had heard great things about this place, so was looking forward to trying it. We started off with the garlic rosemary bread puffs and OMG, I fell in love. Those little puffs are a piece of heaven slathered in garlic. The whipped butter was nice, but wasn't necessary. The cinnamon rolls were also *chef's kiss* and enjoyed by everyone at the table. We ordered just a pepperoni pizza and enjoyed that thin crust like my life depended on it. We got there during brunch hours in a Saturday and those drink specials hit like nobody's business. They had a $3 frose that had my name written all over it! My husband & like to sit at the bar when we go out. When we were there for Wednesday 1/2 price bottle wine night as we entered the bar area there were 2 people trying to save approximately 6 seats at the bar. We said they're not here and we are so we sat down. The bar tender allowed these people to continue to save the seats for 30 minutes at least. Several patrons came in and were told the seats were saved by these customers. The patrons left. Then we tried to order a Chardonnay bottle of wine but nope no Chardonnay was on the 1/2 price wine list. I talked to the general manager and he didn't seem very concerned with either issue & honestly acted perturbed that I even complained. Poor management. You should not allow people to save seats at the bar for that many people for that long of time. read more

Beautiful ambience [I even loved the cleanliness and decor of their bathroom] and a super friendly helpful staff! Each team member, right from the guy who seated us, our lovely server Grace & the manager, told us of the specials & checked on us. The food tasted great and was just how we wanted. Got to check out the McKinney location finally, and we overall enjoyed our experience. We love pie tap so we always look forward to our visits here. The ambiance was great. We loved the decor and seating style of this location. The food was great, except for the calamari. We thought it was just okay. Some of the bites were really chewy and portion wise it was very small for the price so we won't order that again. Our favorite entree of all the dishes we ordered was still the pie itself. Fantastic! Came here for dinner date on a Thursday evening - which also happens to be pasta night where all the pasta dishes are $16. We started with drinks: raspberry lemonade & blackberry smash, as well as the calamari fritto. For entrees we ordered a mushroom pizza and the crazy alfredo. Everything tasted so delicious, we were quite impressed! Service-wise all the staff was very friendly and took great care of us. This is a great spot for District 121, they even offer valet service. Decided to try this place out today. Staff was super friendly, the host was really great. The interior is so aesthetically pleasing, and so different from when it was Zero Gradi. The menu has nice options, unfortunately we were not able to order the pastas because our waitress said it was brunch. We ordered the chicken meatballs. They were pretty good, very herby, the sauce was good, but I still needed salt. We also ordered a cheese pie, the kids loved it! And one of my kids ordered the kids chocolate chip pancake. It was tasty, almost like a cornbread and pancake had a baby in texture. Overall a much better experience than the restaurant prior! Hopefully this place does well. read more

So happy to have a PieTap up in McKinney now ! Stopped by for a solo lunch date and the service was exceptional. The hosts opened the door for me. Multiple folks checked in on me throughout my meal, including the bar manager, Taylor (Tyler ? ) and my waitress, Katerina. I grabbed the lunch special of half a salad and pie ( which is a steal for $12 ) ! The simple salad and veggie pie were delicious and still had some pizza left over to go. Placed a personal order through doordash for pickup and the app listed pickup range was 22 mins. Upon placing order it automatically switched to an hour. I arrived within 30 mins assuming it was a technical mistake and was told that at all 3rd party app orders are delayed by an hour to account for late delivery drivers. I then said it was my personal order and was questioned on why i placed a personal order through the app anyway by the manager. I asked if any accommodations could be made and the manager was extremely unaccommodating, unwarm, and unwelcoming. He then said he wouldnt be able to cancel, refund or do anything and that i would have to reach out to door dash. I waited for another 10 mins to be told they were sold out of the main entree I ordered and that he also couldn't do anything about that. Didnt even suggest a substitute or check in about my remaining items. I had to ask after another 10 mins were my remaining items still being made. Really unfortunate experience for my first time patronizing. The default 3rd party pickup settings should probably be reconsidered for personal pickups - Had my order been prepared upon the time I placed it, I probably would have been able to receive my full order with the main entree. The manager also really needs to work on his friendliness and customer service skills. Rosemary garlic puff was missing the rosemary garlic salt. Cucumbers from hummus veggies were slimy and the broccolini and mushrooms were mostly stems. So Ultimately, waited over an hour for rude service and sides only that were also unappetizing. read more

So took my wife and mom on Mothers Day, what a disaster. My dad and I got their chk and waffles, everything at the table took forever to come out, and the chicken and waffles eggs were "over easy" but in reality they were raw. The chicken strips were cold. Ok I know I'm late. This beautifully decorated chill vibes restaurant surprised me from walking in to ordering, and then some. Our waiter was so nice!! Attentive and had great suggestions. The food was so fresh and hot. We were able to see the chefs through their open door kitchen which is always nice. Tl;dr The service at this Pie Tap is consistently slower and less professional than other locations. We generally love Pie Tap. The sourdough is really delicious, and their Tuesday special and daily happy hours are solid. We've never had a bad experience at other locations. But after leaving the McKinney location this evening, having waited close to an hour for 2 kids pizzas and a veggie pizza, just asking for the check so we could cut our losses, we're done here. We ended up taking the pizzas to go. I wish we hadn't. They needed more time in the oven. This is what we've come to expect from this location. They always seem overwhelmed even when the place is half empty, and the service is consistently subpar. read more

The salad was so good, the chicken meatballs were tender and flavorful and the bread that comes with the meatballs was insanely good, the kids pizza was great as well. We also got a pepperoni pizza, but we were surprised just how thin it was compared to the kid's pizza. The crust for the kids pizza was slightly thin, but very fluffy and chewy.
