Stopped by for a quick happy hour with my mom. The experience was great! Oak & Stone is a cool concept. It's a large open, wide space filled with tables and booths. The bar area has multiple tv screens to watch and enjoy cocktails with family or friends. They offer a concept called the TAP WALL. The Tap Wall is a self service feature and is a good way to experience beer, wine and craft cocktails at your own pace: You tell your waiter and they provide you with a card that you scan. You taste what you want when you want. From there you grab a glass and you can try 40 to 60 different types of adult beverages. You close out your tab at the end and pay for what you sampled. This is a fun way to test out your options. The ambiance is simple, but the restaurant has a nice warm feel with neutral tones. The decor is perfect for the dining room. The location is good with other restaurants and retail. You can bar hop or shop all around the complex. My waitress Dalene was pleasant and friendly. I appreciated her willingness to help us. For food I decided to try a few things. I wanted to get a feel for the menu. I enjoyed the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. They were fantastic and flavorful. However, they needed a better dipping sauce. Beer cheese was not a good fit. A1 steak sauce was the best dipping sauce in my opinion. I keep a packet in my purse. People deserve an honest opinion of the food, not a misleading score that keeps them away from a great restaurant. Oak & Stone is Taverniffic. This is some of the best tavern/bar-style food in the Metroplex. The wings were so good that we ordered them three separate times during dinner. If you're coming here, the wings and the giant pretzel are non-negotiable. Order them. The biggest surprise of the night was the turkey BALT sandwich. The staff recommended it, and they absolutely delivered. It was outstanding and easily one of the best turkey sandwiches I've had. The bread was buttery and crunchy. I really enjoyed my meal, the pretzel crusted ahi tuna bowl. The tuna was so unique with the pretzel and it had a wonderful crunch. The quinoa was served cold, which surprised me, was expecting it to be warm when I took the first bite. The salad had a great sauce. The green dip in the middle was tasty. The beer wall seemed like a cool idea at first with all the different beers available, but most of the beers we tried tasted watered down, weren't very cold, and honestly just weren't enjoyable. Another issue was the food temperature. Everything came out warm at best instead of hot and fresh, which made the experience even more disappointing. The one bright spot was the service. Our server was friendly, attentive, and did a good job throughout the meal. Wanted to try this place as we had a pour your own craft beer bar in Illinois before moving to Texas. I love that format as you can try many different drinks without having to have a full pint. The main difference with the one in Illinois is that there was no food and no server seating you. I do miss Illinois having actual bars that don't have to serve food. The pretzel was fantastic and huge. Loved the cheese sauce. Pizzas were very good too. For the beers, I hope that they can keep cranking through kegs, because I would get bored coming here frequently with the same beers on tap. The atmosphere was great. Very disappointing experience. I ordered a tuna bowl and was served a chicken bowl instead. Mistakes happen, but what really frustrated me was the misleading advertising around the "bottomless mimosas." The menu advertises bottomless mimosas, but we were cut off after five drinks with no mention of any limit beforehand. If there's a maximum number allowed, that should be clearly stated on the menu instead of being advertised as bottomless. I even suggested that management update the menu to accurately reflect the policy and include any drink limits so customers know what to expect. Transparency matters. Between the incorrect order and the misleading promotion, this visit left a lot to be desired. read more

If you enjoy going out for a nice, relaxing dinner and not having to worry about getting up and getting your own beverages, this is not the restaurant for you. There was nothing relaxing about this experience. The reason people go out to eat at full service restaurants is to have their food and drinks brought to them, not to have to wander around serving themselves. We visited shortly after the soft opening, so we expected a few hiccups. We mainly wanted to check out the vibe of the place. Inside, it honestly feels a lot like Buffalo Wild Wings. One wall has draft beer, mocktails, and sodas, while another wall has wine, tequila, vodka, and bourbon. You are given a card that allows you to pour your own drinks. My husband and I both got up to get beers, only to discover the pint glasses were warm. Definitely not a great start. We ordered the beer cheese dip with chips, which tasted good, but it came with maybe 12 chips total. We had to order another side of chips just to finish the dip, and yes, they charged extra for them. When my husband went back for another beer, the line blew and his entire pint filled with foam. He told the bartender, who said they could not help him and that he needed to find the person in charge of the draft beer section. That person was already helping someone else, so he had to stand there and wait. Eventually they removed the charge from our card and suggested an apricot beer instead, which was honestly terrible. At that point, he did not even want to get back up for another drink. I decided to try the wine wall, only to discover that each card only allows three beverages before it has to be reset. When I tapped my card, it said denied. The server explained the limit and reset it for me. Then, once I finally got to the wine dispenser, the bottle was empty. The employee there did not know how to replace it and had to go get someone else. It took nearly 15 minutes just to get a glass of wine. This entire concept feels convoluted and unnecessary for a restaurant. The food itself was actually good. I had the voodoo chicken sandwich and my husband had the mushroom Swiss burger. Both were delicious, but not good enough to make us want to deal with this experience again. I also could not figure out if they are trying to be a sports bar or a casual restaurant. There were televisions everywhere, but they were showing a four year old football game. My husband asked if they could put on the Rangers game, but they said they did not have the baseball package. Overall, the food was decent, but the self serve drink concept completely ruined the experience for us. We go out to dinner to relax, not to stand in line multiple times throughout the meal trying to get beverages and troubleshoot drink machines. read more

Prosper is still trying to find its identity on the food scene after the last few years of hyper growth. With that comes the need for a local bar/tavern to serve as the social anchor. I give Oak & Stone credit; the actual space accomplishes that. However, the copy-and-paste bar menu combined with a gimmicky card system to choose from an average lineup of beers and abysmal (in both quality and quantity) selection of wine torpedoed the entire concept.
