Chicken Bacon ranch sandwich was great
Chris L.

Food was ok. We ordered two hot dogs, one plain and one with chilli and a chicken bacon spicy ranch sandwich. Sandwich I recommend. Bacon was crispy and chicken was well cooked wasn't dry at all. I opted for it because it was the only thing with greens on it. The ambiance was great and loved the vibe. The venue looked beautiful, restored the charm and intrinsic feel of historic McKinney. Did wish for more green items like a salad. Maybe they'll add it later. Overall, a good spot for greasy food and drinks. A great addition to the square. Also, service was great they were very nice and attentive.

I am giving Shorty's the benefit of the doubt because this was their opening week and they were clearly still ironing out the wrinkles, but they had some really really great food and I know they will figure it We stopped in here on a whim while walking around downtown and needed a quick bite. There is limited seating inside, mostly 2 person tables or bar seating, but the vibes are perfect -- wow! We loved the decorations and view of the grill. While waiting for a table there are plenty of shops to check out around the downtown square. Unfortunately, once we were seated we waited a significant amount of time before anyone stopped by our table & also waited a while for our food. The staff was apologetic and explained that they are still learning the ropes and getting staff online - I don't expect this to be a universal experience. Prices are very reasonable, but they do align with the portion sizes. The menu is small, but has unique flavors for hot dogs, burgers, and fries a long with the classics. We opted for burger, fries, and a hot dog and were blown away! With the first bite of the burger, it flew to the top of my "best burger" list! The gravy on the poutine had a robust flavor profile and was perfectly salty, I would love if there was a bit more cheese. The cony style chili paired perfectly with the crispy french fries! We did not get a drink during this visit, but I would love to come back for one because their cocktail menu was well crafted and pours around the restaurant looked amazing.

Nice addition to the square! I've dined in once and it was really good, but my take out order not so much. For that reason, I recommend eating in!! The interior is really cool and I like all the added decor, like the TV's near the back of the restaurant and the sign that shows what song is currently playing. It's a really retro kind of vibe. I like that Shorty's is open late and you can come here to get a quick bite. We got a standard hotdog and tasty smash burger, along with the truffle fries the first go around and everything tasted good. Food price is super reasonable as well!

Excellent service and food. The place was very clean and it was relatively easy to get a spot at the bar around 12:45PM for 1 person. Food isn't sloppy, just very good. Excellent dogs and truffle fries.

Double smashburger, hotdog and fries.

Good food on McKinney Square. Not a lot of seating. We sat outside, there was an festival downtown and we could hear a band playing.

Great experience at Union Bear Brewing Co…read more Customer service was on point. Our waitress checked on us just enough without smothering us. I'm not a fan of constant interruptions while eating, so that balance was appreciated. The place itself is awesome. Plenty of TVs, a great layout, outdoor patio, and a great bar area. Perfect hangout spot whether you're with family, friends, or just grabbing lunch solo. Prices are reasonable and competitive with similar spots. The downtown McKinney location is ideal and easy walking distance to other shops and restaurants, so no need to keep driving around. Food was great. The burger was juicy and flavorful even well done. The salmon was also well done with crispy edges and a slab of butter that melted right over it great flavor. Hoping that butter option is available for the steak because that's next on my list. Sides were solid too. Only thing I wasn't big on was the fries. They're super thin, so they were crispy but had a slightly hard, borderline stale texture. Just my opinion though. overall still a great experience. Definitely coming back. Burger and salmon were outstanding, customer service was great, and the atmosphere makes it a spot worth checking out with family or friends.

Union Bear Brewing Company - McKinney's Hidden Gem!…read more If you're looking for a spot that nails the sweet spot between laid-back sports bar Union Bear Brewing Company in McKinney is exactly that. The vibe is sporty and casual without being loud and just the right energy. It's the kind of place you can roll in after a game or dress down for date night and feel equally at home. Now, the food. The Grown-Up Chicken Tenders were exactly what the name promises crispy, golden, and served with fries, Brussels slaw, and your choice of dipping sauces (ranch, honey mustard, and BBQ, yes, all three). The UB Fish & Chips were standout too: amber beer-battered cod with a perfectly light crunch, lemon wedges, and house tartar sauce that had just the right amount of tang. And the Korean-style crispy bites with gochujang, sesame seeds, red cabbage slaw. Absolutely addictive. Seriously, order them. The cocktails are a highlight all on their own. Great craft beer selection too. For the quality and portion sizes, the prices are incredibly reasonable most plates come in well under $20. The staff were warm, attentive. Union Bear is locally owned and operated. Highly recommend . We'll definitely be back!

Quaint restaurant that has the feel of an old garage inside, and great tasting food! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with their honey mustard sauce - sooooo good! With a side Caesar salad and they make their own croutons - another winner! We topped our meal off with Strawberry cake - I was not disappointed! The waiter, Kenneth, was very personable and made great recommendations. He was on top of it all too. You know how some places the wirier doesn't have enough time for you - or they over serve you. Not here. The whole expletive was just right. Ana there is an air of relaxing/enjoying yourself in this place. I judge places by this question - will I come back, and the answer is YES!

The Garage ambiance is just what you would expect, a converted garage with roll-up doors and about 20 tables if you include the patio. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and house made pesto sauce. It hit the spot! This restaurant is a repeater for me, so give them a try!

The front room hits you with pure nostalgia: classic vintage arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong that instantly take you back. Head toward the back and the vibe shifts to newer arcade games and a great selection of pinball machines, so there's something for every generation. One of my favorite parts was the long walk of consoles where you can sit comfortably and play a wide variety of games--super relaxed, super fun, and great for hanging out instead of standing the whole time. It's $12 to play all day, which is such a steal, especially for how much there is to do. They also have a bar, free soda refills, and even hosted a whiskey tasting that night (we didn't partake, but it was a cool bonus event). It was pretty busy for a Friday night, but that just added to the energy. We had so much fun. Parking is a breeze with a garage right behind the building, making it easy to get in and out, and the corner location makes it super accessible. Definitely a must-visit if you're in downtown McKinney and love games, nostalgia, or just a fun night out.

My husband and I were staying the night in McKinney and came over right at 10pm. They gave us half off since they were about to close which was unexpected. At 10:35, someone went around and started shutting down the games even though there were about 10ish people still hanging out and actively playing. Smaller than I expected and I'm glad we got half off, definitely not worth the full price.
