I ordered a waffle and two chocolate chip pancakes to go. When I got home, I realized they got my order wrong and gave me two orders of plain French toast. I was not happy at all. But I had a kid who was hungry so I gave them some of the French toast. My child's mouth started burning and lips were swelling because apparently there must've been cross contamination with pecans or walnuts, which my child is allergic to. However, that does not justify being served dirty dishes or receiving an incomplete order. This was my second visit to this location, and once again the experience fell short. The quality of both the food and service was disappointing, and this location is not living up to the standards of the First Watch brand. This place is great for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Their dishes are made with fresh, wholesome ingredients and the portion sizes are perfect. I've been here a few times for brunch, and have been happy with it every time. Their omelets are huge and come with a couple different side options. There's inside and outside seating, and the wooden booths are cute. Check the hours before you go -- they're open for breakfast through lunch. The location is also great in that my favorite nail salon is a couple doors down. I took my girls and a friend of mine here for lunch. We found the service friendly and the staff was fast to get us seated. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept. We ordered the 1/2 sandwich and soup/salad combos. 2 of us had their butternut squash soup, my oldest had the tomato soup, and youngest had a salad with ranch. We really like first watch for brunch. My daughter and I enjoy coming here and having some mimosas with our breakfast. Needless to say we came here to celebrate her birthday (starting her day right). I have to say our waitress was AMAZING! Sydney you definitely made her day. The chickichanga was overly salty and inedible, and they filled the kale tonic with so much ice that it ended up being watered down. Even after removing the ice, it was less than half full. Been to first watch many many times but the Custer location is in complete disarray. We were a party of 10. The folks bringing out the food didn't know what goes where. Nobody checked what was going out because the food was half uncooked on one side and burnt on the other. Burnt potatoes! Arrived at 8am this morning. It's an ok location - definitely not as efficient as the Dallas locations but it's closer to home for me. It's possible they are short on staff or haven't figured out their flow yet. Definitely best to go early in the day than later, based on other reviews. The purple haze is tasty as ever. You can't go wrong with lavender lemonade. The hash was tasty as well - although I think the Dallas location made it better, the potatoes were nice and crispy, albeit uneven. I enjoyed it. read more

I want to preface this by saying that although I personally did not enjoy the dish I ordered, my friend's dish was good. I also wanted to give kudos that the manager did come by at the end of our meal, and ask how our meals were. He was very perceptive to feedback and based on how he handled my disappointment in the dish I ordered, I would return to give this location another opportunity based on management. The location was pretty busy, but the staff seemed to manage the crowd well. The attire is pretty casual, lots of families and people came to visit. I will note that our server, after taking our orders, did not come by again to check in on us or refill our waters, and only come by to hand off the check. She was polite enough, but would have liked for her to check in again after delivering our food and before she handed off the check. Moving on to the food - we ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and the lone star hash. The smoked salmon Benedict was a miss. The poached egg was completely cooked through, and the egg was completely hard-boiled/dry. The salad that it came with was not tasty, and the light dressing felt a little too bland for my taste. You can sub the greens for potatoes at no cost though, so that is probably what I would do next time. I did not enjoy my meal; however, I do want to emphasize that the manager was incredibly understanding and seemed genuine in taking the dissatisfaction regarding my meal, which I sincerely appreciated. The Lone Star hash was a win. It is a seasonal item, but the sauce that was used was the right taste of savory, and the meat was delicious. There were no items of improvement for this dish, and would recommend. I would give this First Watch location another chance based on our experience with management, but would be hesitant on ordering the smoked salmon Benedict again. read more

We got the Florentine Eggs Benedict, 1/2 Avocado Chop Salad/1/2 Monterey Club, Italian Omelette with Potatoes, Trifecta with Scrambled eggs, Banana Granola Crunch pancake, and turkey sausage. The Florentine eggs Benedict was quite tasty. I loved the tomato and the consistency of the hollandaise sauce. I didn't love the ciabatta bread as much because it was tough and harder to chew. The Italian omelette was very tasty. The Italian sausage was very flavorful. I think the potatoes stole the show! Perfect blend of the crunchy skin and soft interior. The Banana Granola Crunch pancake was also so tasty! Great flavor and wasn't way too sweet. Overall, I think First Watch has some of the best brunch in DFW for it's price. If I end up paying a $17 for a tiny sandwich and walking out hungry, then you have a serious problem with your food. That roast beef sandwich was not enough for my 6 years old, either cut the price in half or change that sandwich to at least double in size because that thing is disgrace. I owned a restaurant I would be ashamed to serve it, I almost wanted to leave when I got it just didn't have enough time to look for another place to eat which I had to do a little later anyway. Instead of making an unforgettable good sandwich, you made it unforgettably small sandwich, and this one was cheap to make. I will not come back, and I dont recommend the place. read more

I placed a delivery order from the location on University Dr. that was to be delivered at 1:52pm. The tracking link showed it was still being prepared at 2:19pm. When I called and talked to the manager, I was told that it had been ready for awhile. I said I had ordered for delivery and I was told that they don't deliver. I get that everyone outsources everything but when I asked if he thought it was odd that it hadn't been picked up he told me that it happens a lot. I asked why I wasn't called and never got an answer other than it must have slipped my mind. Basically, they often have delivery orders that don't get picked up, they don't call to follow up and just throw the food away, supposedly. And since he didn't bother to call me, I couldn't pick it up because they were closing. He offered to process a refund (how generous of him) But of course, the refund will take several days to process. I won't be dining with this location anymore. read more

Her recommendations really made my family feel like we knew exactly what to pick from the menu. I loved her being my server and I would deff come back just because of Zoie! I heard good things about the Frisco location so I was excited to hear this was opening down the street from where I live! This location has the waitlist option on the Yelp app so I immediately put my name on the waitlist. When I joined it said the wait would be 20-25 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, you still have to notify the host that you're here to confirm the waitlist. My husband and toddler waited an additional 30 minutes before getting seated, so a total of almost an hour. Even when we were seated it took about 15 minutes before someone took our order. I ordered the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl and it was so underwhelming. The portion was pretty small and the flavor was completely bland! My husband ordered the Chorizo Omelete and he wasn't impressed either. I ordered the french toast for my son and tasted some of it, it wasn't anything special. We were completely disappointed in the waitlist option and the wait overall. There were tables around us that got seated before us and still were waiting on their food. Chris, the GM gave us personal service, checking on our table a few times. Our server (? Shep) was so sweet & attentive, yet not hovering. The food was out to our table quickly & done to perfection. I feel their food choices are clean and healthier than most other breakfast/brunch restaurants. The atmosphere was quiet & conducive to having a conversation. If you're looking for a breakfast place, I would recommend the B&B Cafe north of this location. My friends and I waited over 1.5 hours for our table and ended up leaving. We got there, put our names down and were told the wait would be up to an hour. We understood since it was a packed weekend morning. One hour later, I went to check on our place in line and was told another 20 minutes. So we waited, but about 30 minutes passed and we saw people getting angry. So we walked in to check and see what was happening and how much longer it would be. The host told us that because the online orders were taking priority, the kitchen told him not to seat anyone for another 20 minutes. It wasn't the wait that bothered us, but the lack of communication to in-person patrons. We didn't understand the management decision to prioritize online orders of in-person business. Based on other reviews, it seems like this is a pretty common experience at this location. So just be ready to wait if you do opt to go here. read more
