I came here a few days ago for the first time with a friend. We ordered the lasagna and chicken piccata. It was delicious! I really loved the chicken piccata, I highly recommend that dish! The vibe is super cute and earthy. The desserts looked good, but we were stuffed. Prices are not as bad as I thought they would be. Guys, this place hits it out of the park every time! I met a friend here for a belated birthday brunch. She's vegan and wanted to feast. We both agreed on SunCafe and met up. The ambiance is casual and since it was a nice day, we sat outside. Our server was attentive and took our orders promptly. I got the vegan Lasagna and she ordered the Grand Slam with Onion Rings. It was all so hood! The Lasagna is delicious and has a fragrant pesto inside that really took it ti the next level. My friend loved her Grand Slam. We ate until we were full and then continued to eat until we couldn't walk. It's honestly that good! There's a small private lot available for parking but it gets full fast. I recommend street parking and wear your walking shows because that area fills up fast, so you may have to park at a distance. But if you're looking for outstanding vegan food in a casual, cosy atmosphere, then this place is for you. I recommend saving ip your appetite before you come. The food was top notch! I was not aware it was vegan till my husband mentioned it and it was still amazing! I'm not educated in vegan dietary since growing up in a Mexican household I always ate the traditional foods, so to find out vegan is healthy and can still taste amazing was great! They have some changes in some of the dishes where is not soy free anymore(please keep soy free) but still the food is a must try. You'll find something at your liking. Second time coming here in the past two weeks! The smoothies/ shakes are the best, an absolute must to order if you are going here. We got the mint shamrock and pumpkin the first time and I was craving them so much I had to come back just a week later. We drove from Oxnard to come back here because of how great the shakes were!! I've come here for years and years and turned on everybody from my family to friends. People have stayed vegan because of this great restaurant. I love that it's open late and the menu has stayed the same but with new yummy additions, however... tonight had to be the third time where I had to ask for the AC to be put on. Sadly, after a decade of coming here I have to end my patronship of this once great Vegan Cafe. The food is still great, the location still great but the service is awful the waiters and waitresses really don't put the effort in. You are never checked on once to see if you need anything, it's a battle to get the check, if you want salt or pepper or sauce you have to get up yourself and look for it. The waitress that came and eventually helped us to pay blamed the owners and really the buck does stop with them. The staff have zero interest, passion or drive to make this an enjoyable place to eat. I was really on the fence after my first experience at this place, so I decided to give them a second chance before reviewing, and I have. Both times that I've visited SunCafe, I've enjoyed the food. The service, however, is SO slow and so...well, frankly, amateur. Both visits, every staff member there conducted themselves as though they had absolutely no idea what they're doing, nor cared. We were there for 2.5 hours because our service was THAT slow - and for the last approximate hour that we were there, we sat there with empty dinner plates in front of us. I noticed the busser walked by our table multiple times with nothing but his cell phone in his hands and his head down - just no awareness of the room. Dessert was put down on our table with empty dinner plates still sitting there. We remember seeing that the tip automatically is set to %18 percent and we consciously chose no tip because it was a to go order and we were trying it for the first time. If the tip was automatically left on %18 percent and we tipped that way, JC would not have made that comment as we were walking out. She would not have said, " WE LIKe TIPS TOO" when I kindly said happy Mother's Day. We absolutely chose no tip. I'm glad your experience wasn't like ours. You must be one of the workers friends.
