Offering seating both inside and outside, this cute cafe provides a warm environment with friendly staff and fast service. If we weren't in a rush to get home I would have loved to sit outside near there personalized wishing tree. I instantly opted for the Sausage, JUST Egg, and Cheese English Muffin sandwich which came with tomatoes. Wow! It was so amazing that I made my boyfriend try and we both were blown away by how savory the "sausage" was. The breakfast came with a side and I couldn't refuse when I saw what was offered as one of the many options.....MASHED POTATOES and GRAVY. Strange combo with breakfast, yes, but I love mashed potatoes and rarely have the opportunity to order them at any restaurant. They did NOT disappoint, creamy pieces of potato and flavorful gravy was all it took to revitalize me after the long weekend. While I wasn't particularly fond of the breakfast burrito, which came with tofu, black beans, and grilled vegetables, that was solely based on my personal preference (a vegan who not a fan of most vegetables lol). Yet, I still enjoyed it mostly due to the fact that the cilantro crema that accompanied it was so flavorful. Stopped by for a snack. I was not expecting such a delicious snack. I was blown away by the natural sweetness this had. Also had a wonderful texture; the chia was slimy but the oatmeal was more dense and almost crunchy which helped absorb more flavor. I went back the next day to have it again. Beautiful place. My favorite Organic Vegan Restaurant. Pre 2020 I'd been here several times. Almost every dish that I've ordered has been flavorful with the exception of a few desserts. I'm very picky on my sweets and I eat a lot of them so their desserts for a non sugar addict, may actually be delicious to others who do not have a piece of chocolate with their coffee in the mornings. Such a wonderful plant based cafe. They have a parking lot which was a plus after a few days in DTLA. We opted to dine on the adorable patio. Very garden like. We chose breakfast and were in heaven. Omelettes, waffles, french toast and all vegan! There are no shortage of options. I chose the omelette and was a little skeptical just because I have had liquid Just egg before and didn't love it, but this one was amazing. I've been here twice and the professionalism just is not there. I'm not sure if it because of a lack of communication among the staff or maybe they need to hire more waiters but for a $30 meal you should be getting a baseline level of attention and service. This place is the whole package. Great outdoor seating with lots of greenery. Service is super nice and accommodating when it comes to allergies. The server didn't even have to ask anyone, she just knew what contained soy and didn't. The menu also captured that too. Felt so normal. Loved the Veggie Sushi options. (most of them at least, I have received some unprofessional snarky attitude from one server, who will remain nameless, but I don't appreciate the mocking of anyone's life threatening allergies or conditions) * list the ingredients!! * -- now this is something I'm sensitive to everywhere I go... and I'm only saying this because I wish I wanted to go to SunCafe more... but... the bathrooms... are so filthy... it makes me lose my appetite, especially when seeing staff and cooks use the filthy bathrooms... so sticky... so unsanitary... I just can't even think about it... touching the door handles to making our food? Yuck... Cleanliness is not one of their strengths... Let me put it this way... I have to wear underwear for my incontinence, any opportunity to use a bathroom I will... but I will go out of my way to avoid using the SunCafe bathrooms EVER. That's really saying something... and trust me! I've been trying to keep this to myself! But it's so bad it's made me not want to come back... since a clean usable restroom is non-negotiable for me. (Please find a way to clean it up and keep it clean... I know now that men can use women's restrooms all bathrooms are now even filthier than before but, please keep things sanitary in there... even the door handles are sticky!!! Gross!!!) Sun cafe has a huge menu with so many different types of food. Usually restaurants like this will have menu items that are hit and miss, but every time I come back and try something new i'm blown away. Great place in studio city that is tucked away. It has a kind of old western ish wood style interior and a front patio for nice days. You need to try their kale smoothie that's a first. It's fantastic. If you were coming here for the smoothies alone I would understand. The arugula beet salad and mini Mac and cheese were next. The soychorizo did not pop out as far as flavor but the meals were great considering they were vegan and almond cheese I believe is what was used for the Mac and cheese. Service was okay...They didn't know we were sat, so a little wait time there but they made up for it with their immediate food coming out. The Mac and cheese was hot so it all worked out. I like that they bring the credit card machine and take your order at the table and send it in rather than go to a pos system. I'll be coming back again. read more

what a bummer, used to love this place. came back and the bathrooms are just getting grosser- toilets take 4/5 times to partially flush and restrooms are filthy. coffee was so weak we had to get 2 and didn't finish them, waiters are slow and not listening (had to ask twice for separated checks). to help out i tried to write a note to the owners to please put some love into the restrooms and for some reason the wait staff tried to take my note by just pouring pine-sol all over the bathroom while diners were still there, consequently the air became so overpowered w/ cleaning chemicals we could not enjoy our food or even think and had to relocate. I came here a few days ago for the first time with a friend. We ordered the lasagna and chicken piccata. It was delicious! I really loved the chicken piccata, I highly recommend that dish! The vibe is super cute and earthy. The desserts looked good, but we were stuffed. Prices are not as bad as I thought they would be. My friend got some sort of lemonade mango drink and that was $10 which I thought was expensive. But, food prices were I think around 20ish per dish. I will be back!! read more

She didn't even bat an eye that it had been so long since we finished our meal. Not a, "Oh gosh, sorry it's so crazy" (which it didn't seem to be) or some friendly, funny recognition of the long delays. That always wins over customers. Nada. 20 minutes or so after we finished dessert, we had to get up & go look for her to get the check! Hahaha! If you want organic vegan fare, take it to go or BETTER: find a restaurant that gives two flips about their customers. LAST THOUGHT in this too-long-review: when someone gives a bad review, I'll sometimes check to see if their just unreasonable. I rarely ever give a bad one. Okay so this review is a 3/5 mostly because the customer service was poor. Food quality/taste 5/5 We loved everything we got! The pizza crust was thin, flavorful, and slightly crunchy. They used a generous amount of pesto and toppings. The award winning mac and cheese--its award winning for a reason! Every bite was full of cheesy goodness . The egg Benedict's was tasty. Be aware the sauce has a spicy kick to it, unexpected but worth it. What stood out from this dish were the mash potatoes. I almost forgot that the gravy was vegan from how good it was! Customer service 3/5 We went on a Saturday around 1pm. The inside of the restaurant was at ~50% capacity and the outside was full. We didn't have to wait to be seated but we waited an unreasonable amount of time for our food and for our check! We also asked the waiter to split our bill but he forgot and since we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes we decided to just leave. As I have mentioned on my last visit which was 07/23/2022 that I will save my other comments next time I dine at SunCafe Organic restaurant:well here I am writing another 5 star review on my other lovely experience I had at the restaurant on 7/27/22. As you can see, I am becoming to be a loyal, true customer of this peaceful, quaint, lovely, beautiful restaurant:)) I went back again within 4 days later. This time I had a seat by the black marble cute, little fountain with water running down. Felt like water was running by my spine as I had my back towards the fountain and had my face starring at the tree that is decorated with just LOVE, PEACE AND HAPPINESS. SO THERAPEUTIC. Jackson was my server and didn't run into JayCee and I was told that she was off. I ordered their famous, delicious, avocado toast with fresh, yummy, flavorful ingredients, and also wanted to try couple of other dishes. So I chose Lettuce Leaf Tacos, and Sea Cakes w/Lemon Pasta. For a drink I got orange juice. Hands down delicious!!! Jackson was also a very pleasant,patient, cool, friendly, kind, gentlemen with a nice smile on his face and was also knowledgeable with the menu. Ordered and got my food on timely manner. So I wanted to write my 2nd review on yelp and thank everyone for making SunCafe one of the best restaurants in the valley in every way. My favorite place since I love all the jackfruit. The buffalo vegan chicken sandwich, lemon pasta, jackfruit sea cake, lettuce leaf tacos, basically anything you get is good. Anything organic tastes so much better than it not being organic you can see and taste the difference. I can actually tell when something is organic just from its color, shape and taste. I only eat the best food and shop at the best grocery stores I require organic food since I get really nauseous on non-organic stuff like actually sick within an hour if it's not clean like organic foods. SunCafe is a classic plant based staple. Not only is it fully plant based but there are many gluten free options available as well. One of the best items is the Mac n cheese. There's a small size available too. I would say it's one of the better vegan Mac n cheeses I've tried. The brownie sundae is also really good and so are their smoothies. Their smoothies come in a huge glass cup. It's very aesthetic and has a nice outside dining patio. The parking can be difficult as they have a tiny little parking lot that is typically always full. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews bu it was super disappointing. First off, we had to ask the waiter twice for someone to take our order. We probably sat around for half an hour. Was thrilling to know nobody cares and it wasn't even that busy. I ordered the zucchini lasagna . I've made some fantastic zucchini lasagna recipes from pinterest so i was super excited. The lasagna here was cold and uncooked which was super weird to me... baked zucchini lasagna tastes wayyy better especially because it softens up the zucchini to mimic pasta .. so this one was like eating zucchini and dip. Flavors were pretty good though so I'll give props for that! It came with a side salad - i got the Caesar salad and they put soooo much dressing on it, i was literally eating dressing with a side of salad. I also ordered the mashed potatoes. They were pretty good for being vegan I guess but could have used a bit more flavor to sub the missing dairy. Maybe even garlic. Was super bland so we didn't finish it. It was my first time going here and have been waiting to go since im on the other side of the valley. I ordered 4 tacos (1 mushroom, 2 jackfruit and 1 potato) and the bbq cauliflower. When i order a potato taco never have i thought id get a mashed potato taco, which was wild. And i love potato tacos ! Then.... I go to my bbq cauliflower and it one, looks nothing like the photo online and two looked like soup in a bowl with cauliflower. Very disappointed in the food especially if im hungry and willing to pay. Im sure they have other good dishes, but i wont be visiting again. This review actually breaks my heart a bit. My wife and I are long time customers. From when it was at the old building where Vegetable is now. The food back then was flawless. Everything was made in house. The waiting staff was very attentive, friendly and absolutely knowledgeable, not only of each item, but of their preparation. Giving a savory Chef, back then just dabling with the idea of Vegan food, a lot of ideas and things to try at home. I made some of their items, like their then available version of Walnut Chorizo. I spent probably a few years without eating there, after we went back after COVID and saw they were under new ownership (? Or management. *) The food was not the same. We questioned it, telling the Manager who we spoke to that we were long customers, and that we knew their menu and Mise (prepared items*) pretty well. His answer was that "everything was the same", before storming into the kitchen. I left it alone then. It was fresh after COVID, as I said. Everyone was still re adapting. To everything, really. My wife came back with a friend and saw the menu had grown. "Sushi items". I was very excited. Imagine you cook rice. Then you put it back in the refrigerator. What happens to that rice? It continues to absorb moisture. AND... it becomes hard. Like if you left dry pasta in water for a long time. And it's bland. And cold. Not sushi rice. Sushi rice is warm. Very well cooked. Dressed with vinegar, sugar and dashi. We asked a few people about the "faux Fish". No one had an answer. Someone finally told us it was "tomato". One of them told us "all I can tell you is that it's plant based". Some of the classics still hit, like the Lettuce Leaves Tacos. And the Cheesecakes are great. Even if the waiting staff doesn't fully know their names and flavors. When we got first asked for service, I asked the waiter "do you guys make cocktails?" His answer was "Yes!!" I proceeded to ask for a martini. He answers "oh, no. We don't have those." His answer should've been "no, sir. We have a set list of cocktails. Here they are on the menu. The burger had a weird, off-putting taste and the pesto pasta was just sad (visually and most importantly flavor). We went for lunch/dinner. When we arrived it was sort of empty outside. The ambience was calm and I can see myself studying here it was so peaceful. We were greeted right away and shown to a table. The waitress was super sweet, welcoming and helpful. We ordered the nachos and sun dynamite roll, the roll was super yummy but the nachos came out with jicama slices instead of chips, we asked if it could be changed and they were more than happy to change it. They also use sunflower seed protein for them and it was delicious!! My wife got the breakfast burrito they also have no issues substituting proteins, she has a soy allergy and the waitress was AMAZING at helping us substitute for safer options.
