Wow, I'm happy I took the risk and came into CHIN CHIN today. After my favorite location on Sunset Blvd closed I didn't think I'd be able to get my Szechuan dumplings ever again. WRONG THEY HAD IT! Needed to be in Burbank and was famished. Found the destination in my GPS and headed to location for a food experience. Now finding it upstairs was a stroke of luck, just happened to see a guy leaving with a bag of goodies. So note the place is upstairs kind of hidden. Upon entering I was seated immediately and handed a menu to pick my pleasures. Not all my favorites were in the menu ( WAHHHH ) yet I spotted several items. First I ordered the famous Mango Ice Tea for my refreshing beverage. Since I was ready I ordered the half order of Chinese Chicken Salad, Salt & Pepper Prawns plus Szechwan dumplings OMG... Salad came first and damn even a half order is enough for 2 people so please note this fact... Very refreshing and delicious and for a hot day in The Valley that hit the spot. The Salt & Pepper Prawns & Szechwan dumplings arrived for consumption simultaneously.... Photo before chow to document my experience for you Yelpers and now it's eat and eat I did... Powered through those 5 Szechwan dumpling like a great white shark eats a surfer. That green sauce over the dumplings is green gold, the flavor max's out your taste bud's and kick your brain into overdrive... Your brain will never get an experience like that unless you come in for an order... The Salt & Pepper prawns were the prefect entre for me today. Not overpowering in flavor but a nice crisp robust flavor of seafood and seasonings. So bummed that the West Hollywood location closed after being there for decades. Not sure why they closed, but I'm guessing a greedy landlord; and the space is still empty at the time of this review. I was craving Chin Chin, so I ordered on Uber Eats. Obviously ordering online is never going to be the same as dining in. The closest location was in Studio City which is about 4+ miles from West Hollywood. I ordered the Fried Rice and paid extra ($5) to add Chicken. I also ordered the Chicken Potstickers (Dumplings) which are my favorite. I reheated my food upon delivery as I knew it wouldn't be warm enough for me upon arrival. The Chicken Fried Rice was a large portion and tasted fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, paying extra for Chicken wasn't worth the price. It was just a few small strips of Chicken in a large serving of rice. See pictures. The Chicken Potstickers were awesome as usual. Five large dumplings packed full of delicious Chicken. The coating was so fresh, and tasted better after reheating. I didn't have their Chinese Chicken Salad this time, but every time I have ordered it in the past, it's always been so freaking good with plenty of fresh Chicken. I have been here couple of years ago with my friends for dinner. I remember it being really good Chinese food. Specially their Chinese chicken salad. So last night I had dinner with my husband and son and of course started with an order of Chinese chicken salad. It was as delicious as I remember it. The orange chicken was amazing with a side of steamed rice. I loved it. The Mongolian beef was super salty for me I couldn't eat it after trying one piece of meat. The noodles were ok not too salty but had a lot of onions, a lot .... The my son loved the pot sticks in chili oil. Overall it was a good dinner. Ambiance was quiet at one point it was just us three. Having had eaten at the Chin Chin at NYNY in Vegas MANY times, the menu is a bit different (no sushi or miso soup!) but we ordered it on DoorDash since we had family flying in from the opposite coast. I ordered food from here and I definitely will say it will be my first time and last time. The dressing to chicken salad didn't go together first of all. Second is the honey walnut shrimp is not worth the price you get 10 pieces shrimp and walnut bunch of salad for price of 32 dollar. The spicy wonton soup I believe it was overcooked wonton so it felt apart. Last thing on that soup tastes more oil and too much condiment so it's dry out your mouth. Definitely being added to my favorite restaurants list. This place is really cute and I'm obsessed with the table settings, especially the plates. The staff were really nice and I liked being able to see into the kitchen. My favorite dish was the Honey Walnut Shrimp, loved the sauce and it was actually pretty large shrimp. They give fairly big portions and are meant to be shared, so unless you're really hungry you'll probably have leftovers if you're alone or order multiple things. I had the churros for dessert and they were made it to perfection but I would've preferred it without the filling. Regardless I'll definitely be back and will try other things. We go kind of often and every time the food is delicious and service is good. The tables are sometimes clean and sometimes could be a lot better. Parking is tight but the mall has underground parking with elevator and electric stairs since the restaurant is at the second floor. Great for big family dine outs. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp for my entree as I wasnt feeling too hungry, and that was a sufficient serving if you're looking for something that you can eat by yourself as all of their plates are designed to be family style. Was not a huge fan of the Mongolian beef. I can't explain why. The sauce just wasn't ny thing. That said, I feel like they would make excellent leftovers reheated over the stove with some chili oil sauce. Our server, Josiah, gave very good recommendations.
