Service was so friendly, attentive and food came out quick! We ordered edamame and a couple rolls. OMG Roll was delicious and we subbed the tuna for salmon in the Lemon Roll. Plenty of seating and a cozy place to pop in for a great bite.
Teru came highly recommended from my friend - who lives in the area - and is some of the tastiest sushi I've had! We ordered the yellowtail belly with uni and truffle (from the special menu), twilight roll, and dragon roll. The flavors of each were so complex yet complementary; I've never had truffle with sushi before, but it works! Our server Nomi was stellar, attentive even though dinner service was quite busy on a Sunday. Her colleague (didn't catch her name) also always made sure our water glasses were filled! The restaurant has several sushi chefs behind the counter, so you aren't kept waiting long for your order. Finally, I felt the pricing was very fair for the quality of the rolls served - yet another incentive to come back and try more! Granted, neither my friend nor I drink, so with the waters our tab came out to just under $40 per person. For yellowtail, uni, crab, and eel, what more could you really ask for?
i was frankly disappointed with the food and service here! the sushi was too chewy and the rice was overcooked. the yellow tail with jalapeño was way too spicy. the rolls in the menu have no variation. the servers also don't seem to care and ours rushed through every interaction. there are sooo many better sushi spots in this area and in LA overall. skip this one parking is also not accessible. such a shame for a nice restaurant!
Came here for dinner during the week and it was busy. We started with spicy tuna rice cakes, garlic edamame, and shrimp & vegetable tempura. The spicy tuna had a nice kick and the rice cakes were crispy on the outside. The garlic edamame had garlic slices mixed in with it. The shrimp & vegetable tempura were fresh and had a crispy batter. The OMG roll is a spicy tuna roll with crispy onions and yellowtail sashimi. The rolls are fresh and the menu is large enough to have a lot of variety. Parking- valet parking
Our friend Christina Pope took us out for another stellar meal. This time it was Teru Sushi. Ambience was great as we were seated in the back garden area. It was a bit hot back there with the only drawback being a fly who decided to go for a swim in the gyoza dipping sauce, otherwise a great dining experience. Our server Josh was extremely attentive and did a wonderful job making sure everyone was taken care of and satisfied with our selections. The food was very good and well plated. The only complaint was everything came out at one time which made things a bit unmanageable for our 4 person table. I am glad there was only 3 of us.
Made reservation for day after Valentines, got right in on time. Everything we ordered was delicious and as fresh as can be. Service was great, attentive and appropriate. Ambiance was pleasant. Will definitely return!
Dinner date night at Teru Sushi was an absolutely wonderful experience! I loved the little entry walkway just outside that gives the feeling you've been transported away from Ventura Blvd with the relaxing little bench, pond, and other decor. The hostess inside was warm, welcoming, and had us seated immediately. Service from the waitress was also very quick and attentive with making sure we had any items or refills as needed. On to the sushi!! There were so many appealing sounding options from the creative menu names and accompanying descriptions, but we ended up going with the Sushi Combination, 'Studio City' rolls, and some Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes. For drinks, we did a Strawberry Nigori Sake, which was a deliciously light and fruity accompaniment to all our sushi! I loved everything we ordered, and also found the portions quite generous, with both of us being left very full. A few notes: For the Sushi Combination, I loved that it came with a little side of miso soup. Relaxing and soothing, miso soup is always a must for me at Japanese restaurants! Also, a lot of the sushi for the sushi combination plate had a bit of wasabi on them...that wasn't an issue to me, but if you're someone who doesn't care for wasabi, such as my partner, that may bother you a bit. The 'Studio City' rolls were definite highlights of the meal for the both of us - FULL of salmon, cream cheese, avocado, tempura batter, spicy mayo, AND more....it all went together surprisingly well and was an amazing fusion of flavor, creaminess, & slight heat that ended up working perfectly! The Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes were also very solid and delicious to enjoy! We loved everything we ordered for our dinner, and the 'Studio City' rolls are a MUST ORDER! From ambiance, service, and the sushi/other food itself, I highly recommend and will be returning in the future to try more menu options!
Teru Sushi is a must try! The ambiance is very intimate and the outside seating area has pretty scenery with foliage and a fish pond. I really appreciated their complimentary cucumber water and their soft spicy tuna rice! Has got to be one of the best! My favorite roll was the OMG Roll. Because OMG -- the truffle is everything! Our waitress was also very kind and gave us great recommendations for it being our first time visiting. I do wish the hostess' were more welcoming, but overall a great spot to check out!
The best sushi in studio city... HANDS DOWN! I have only eaten here for the past 2 years, and I can't say enough everything is clean, service is amazing, the atmosphere is beautiful! It's truly a gem! And it's the best family friendly and date night space you will ever come too!

As far the ambiance, I would give is a 5. Love the seating arrangement and the interior design. A classic looking sushi restaurant with good food. Just wish the food is served a little quicker. Good sushi spot with a very extensive menu with so many different rolls to choose from. Maybe too many rolls. They are very attentive and do a great job of checking on your table. The fish was fresh but the rice just a little on the hard side. I loved the OMG roll the best. They have cool little booths so even though you are right next to another table you are a bit separated. It's located on Ventura blvd so do yourself a favor and just pay the $8 for valet parking vs looking for a parking spot on the street.

We always have the pleasure of having Maika as our server, she's always so kind and helpful but today she was in the front and greeted us with a welcoming smile. If you are looking for a place to have Sushi in the Valley make sure to go to Teru!!
Too busy of a place but yet two hostesses were not on point. From the get go service was slow , no menu delivery. After seated and what felt like an eternity I finally got menus & waters. Sushi quality and especially the rice here is great. When places get too busy the service slacks. Food came out of order placement and late. But I still enjoyed everything.

I used Grok and Yelp to find a kid-friendly restaurant offering up excellent sushi and bento boxes for dinner. Teru Sushi was the top hit and I booked it for dinner for a party of 5. Best of all, Teru was walking distance from my sister and bro-in-law's place, which is fortunate since street parking is tricky. Teru is a modern, trendy restaurant playing classic pop music with an intimate setting. A line of happy sushi chefs greet customers coming and going in the front. its funny since from the outside, the restaurant looks so unassuming from the street level. The food was excellent and I give 5-stars for the hot entrees like chicken teriyaki (5 stars) and the miso black cod appetizer (4 stars). Wife felt the miso was a bit too heavily sauced but I liked the rich flavors. We replaced the default rice with sushi rice and the sticky texture and vinegary flavor was well worth it. The Brussels sprouts and mushroom appetizer was also full of umami (4 stars). I got their nigiri combo with spicy tuna roll. Very good with fresh fish toppings (4 stars). I did not see an omakase option on the menu, but maybe that's off menu when price is not an issue. It turns out there is this small stretch in Ventura Blvd that has lots of sushi places, one that supposedly offers $400/person omakase. read more

Teru sushi is a great tried and true classic along sushi row. Highly advised that you utilize their valet parking as parking along Ventura can be a drag. The restaurant itself has an intimate vibe - good for a casual dinner but also for celebrations or a girls night out. The food is melt in your mouth delicious - be adventurous here and try something new, the menu is large and everything is incredibly well balanced. The service is pretty good - there's almost always someone nearby who can help or fill up your water. The sauces here are soooo good. The only reason I'm not here more is because I don't live close by anymore read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years, and the food has always been consistently amazing -- which makes this review especially disappointing to write. Unfortunately, the service during our most recent visit completely missed the mark. We were seated in the patio and, for the first 20 minutes, our waiter (a tall, bald gentleman) never came to take our order. During that time, he was visibly occupied taking shots and socializing with a group of women at another table. We eventually had to ask another server to take our order and that's when he called our server to attend to our table. After our food arrived, we tried to order additional drinks, but they never came, because again, our waiter was busy chatting and taking shots with the same party instead of attending to his section and forgot. At that point, we were both frustrated and disappointed. To make matters worse, I had noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and it was never acknowledged. We ultimately had to flag down another server just to get our check. The food remains excellent, but the level of service we experienced was unprofessional and inattentive -- especially for a place we've supported for over a decade. I truly hope management addresses this, because the restaurant deserves service that matches the quality of its food, not a server taking shots and forgetting to do his job. read more

My server on Wednesday, Mint (?) was incredibly attentive and made sure my tea was always full and ginger stocked. Love this place and consider myself its biggest fan! Love you, Teru! read more

I just had a delicious meal from Teru Sushi. The service was excellent. I had my baby with me and they were very accommodating. There is valet parking which is great and also there is parking on ventura if you get lucky. Overall i was very satisfied; 10 out of 10. I had vegetable and shrimp tempura, halibut carpaccio, yellowtail sashimi, a special roll which i photographed. It was all so delicious. read more

As someone who loves sushi I am shocked that I have never been here before, it was one of the best. Really lovely and cozy restaurant, specially the back patio with the little zen garden. This is hands down one of the best sushi spots in LA! The quality is incredible, and their creative dishes are to die for. The service was great, but the only downside was how quickly the food came out -- almost too fast. We sat down at 8:45 and were done by 9:20, so dinner lasted only about 35 minutes including looking over the menu, ordering and paying the bill. While I appreciate efficiency, it felt a bit rushed but they weren't busy. We ordered the Albacore Crispy Onion Sashimi, which was my favorite dish of the night. However, in the center, there were some small leftover pieces stacked up that didn't look very appetizing. When I asked the server if it was supposed to be like that, she said yes -- we ended up not eating that part. Overall, though, this place is amazing. hadn't visited teru sushi in a few years and i'm so glad i came back! you can't go wrong with ordering anything here but my favorites of the night were the omg, casanova, spicy scallop cut rolls, and the albacore fried onion. there's $8 valet and some street parking. i recommend sitting outside! read more

I haven't been here for a very long while. Used to come here with my coworkers many years ago. Tonight my husband and I decided to have a date night and we ended up here. We walked in without reservations and the hostess greeted us with a smile and was very professional. She told us we might have to wait for 40 mins or so but as soon as a table is available she will text us. 20 mins later we were seated. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. When I checked in I got a free sale offer so we started with that. We ordered a 911 roll, OMG roll, lemon roll and a kanpachi carpaccio. The 911 roll was ok, the other two rolls were delicious and the carpaccio was super salty and saucy you couldn't taste the fish. The sliced were super thin so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Overall we had a great dinner, enjoyed the ambiance, customer service was super. read more

The quality of sushi is average. Not super fresh. They have many options. Most dishes on their menu are somewhat cooked or dressed. The staff were friendly. The ambience is nice outside. Wanted to try this place and I would say - ok. I would give another try again maybe after a while. read more

Disappointing. The staff was rude immediately when I walked in, wasn't greeted just ignored for 5 minutes until a different employee approached me asking if I was dining in or picking up. I hoped there would be some traditional Japanese dishes... but seems that there wasn't. I ordered soba noodles and instead they gave me thick udon noodles and charges $15 extra for beef substitute instead of chicken. read more
