I enjoyed this spot! The ramen was pretty good but I wish the added spice option had a bigger kick. Nice people working here, you order up front then they bring you stuff to your table. It was a cute place too, dim lighting and pretty cute.

Also a treat when I'm in LA. Can't EVER get enough when I'm here. I'm always daydreaming about my next return. Lovely service and calm atmosphere. Curry ramen is my fav as well as spicy miso avocado roll.

I had the red hot miso ramen and tried the roasted miso avocado roll. The roll was honestly disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it. But, I very much enjoyed my ramen. There was a decent amount of spice, broth had excellent flavor, and the noodles were fantastic. I also appreciated the use of arugula; it was a nice touch. Service was very fast. The restaurant was clean and had an upscale energy but the pricepoint was very fair for ramen. Overall reasonably satisfied.

A year later, I've returned several times and tried almost everything on their menu. The simplicity of their menu makes it easy to explore all the ramen options and quickly find your favorites. Hands down, my top picks are the Garlic Miso, Red Hot Miso and Truffle Salt (a bit salty, but the flavors are spot on). For a heavier ramen meal, the Yuzu Sesame Ramen (very dense with the yuzu flavor barely noticeable) and the Japanese Curry are delicious, though they don't have the same pop and layers of flavor as the others. The service is always friendly and the facility is exceptionaly clean. I still cant believe these rich, delicious flavors are completely vegan!

OMG... This place was amazing! My friend and I stopped in for a late night bite after a concert down the street. When you walk up to the business you can smell this wonderful smoke smell, but we had no idea it was cooking from this restaurant. We just wanted soup and this was the first place that popped up. We both ordered a ramen bowl. Prices seemed quite fair. They brought our food out and O..M..G..! What an amazing presentation. A bowl covered by a smoke filled dome was sat in front of each of us ! This looked and smelled amazing! We took the dome off and the wonderful smell of smoke waffed the air. Everything looked amazing! And the taste... Outstanding! We loved every slurp of it! The guy at the counter was so nice and we were so thankful to have come across this place. We will be back!!

Food was good - not great as some reviews set my expectations too high :) it was still very good- I would have liked the broth to be less thick- tried the spicy miso and Japanese curry. The dumplings and sushi rolls were awesome! I give it 4.5 as taste and presentation both excellent! Love that it is 100% vegan!! My husband said he couldn't believe the sushi was vegan! Service was fast and very friendly staff. Just a less thicker broth and you are my 5 start choice!!! Must visit if you are near Universal City!!

10/10- fireeee This ramen is so so good packed with flavor its amazing. You can hardly tell its vegan. The broths is just insane. Service is very nice. Ambience is chill inside small seating area. I got the yuzu and it was really yummy definitely spicy delicious. Ill be back for the truffle!

Yuzu Sesame Ramen and a side of Mac & Truffle.

My vegan son said I had to join him for lunch at RedWhite Boneless Ramen in Studio City because, he continued, they've got the best vegan ramen in town, and, he added, it's so good that even I (not a vegan) would love it... and so I did. Chalk one up for the kid. The plant based broths (there are a few to choose from) are rich and flavorful, hearty and complex, just like the best, slowly steeped ramen broths you find made the traditional way. These chefs have managed to make veggies and miso keenly replace beef, pork and chicken. Well done! The noodles were fresh and chewy, and very flavorful unto themselves, while toppings like tofu, crispy onions, corn and arugula are bright and tasty and satisfying. I ordered the Red Hot Miso Ramen, which packed a nice punch without being too hot to handle. My son, who likes things milder, opted for the Yuzu Sesame Ramen; that had a creamier texture than mine, and the unmistakable flavor of yuzu really made the dish memorable. My son also ordered a side of Mac & Truffle... this was a somewhat standard vegan mac & cheese BUT the truffle flavor overrode what can often be an unpleasant after-taste of vegan cheese, making it a perfectly enjoyable side dish for anyone. When it comes to atmosphere, this is a simple affair. You order at the counter and pay (cards only, no cash), and they bring your food to you at one of a few tables. The servers were pleasant and helpful, and the food was prepared quickly. They have a number of other menu items, such as various vegan sushi rolls, which looked very interesting, and I'm sure we'll be back soon to test them out. One final thing: RedWhite is in the same little strip mall as Residuals and Sushi Dan, and locals know that parking here during peak times may be challenging, so plan accordingly.

This was a great option for a meatless meal. I loved how thick the broth was so all the flavors would cling onto the noodles with every bite. I was also impressed with the presentation of the food which was a bit unexpected for such a small and cozy ramen spot, but I love when food spots have a surprise wow factor. It makes the meal feel even more special. Maybe it was because of the rain, but this place was really calm and quiet, not busy at all. The staff is also super sweet and helpful. I really wasn't sure what to get but they recommended the yuzu sesame ramen which has a bright, earthy, savory flavor.

This place caught us by surprise. Everything is plant based. The brought is thick and hearty. Full of flavor. The ramen size is pretty big and lots of toppings. Everything tasted fresh including the noodles. This place is small but got lucky and it wasn't busy when we went. The guy that took our order might have been the owner. He gave recommendations and told us what the ramen came with. For a $1 more one of us ordered the signature to experience the Smokey presentation. Definitely worth coming back to when I'm in the neighborhood.

Had the garlic Ramen and the avocado appetizer everything was so fresh and flavorful just wanna know that there's really not much parking so you will probably have to park on the street. It's so cute and cozy in the inside. Definitely a must try. You order your food first, and then they bring it to you.

Yuzu sesame ramen
Andrea E.

Pretty good ramen, honestly. I tried the yuzu sesame ramen and I would likely have it again on some rainy LA day. It wasn't the best I've ever had but definitely tasty and a generous portion. Also tried the avocado miso roll and the taco roll. Both of these were ... okay. They were good, don't get me wrong, but definitely very simple and bland. The miso avocado roll tasted like unseasoned avocado on rice and the taco roll lacked any real punch. Some more salt, spice, or sauce would have made them wayyyy better. Service was fast, friendly.

My friends had heard about this place because of the smoked ramen and we happened to be nearby so of course, we had to try it. I don't usually veer the veggie/vegan path so when I hear of something that still tastes great, I'm always intrigued. I ordered the No 8 Red Hot Miso with the smoke and it was really pretty exceptional. I'm always going to grade on a curve for a veggie ramen, because it a different thing, but I loved it. There were a bunch of great add-on options and all the bowls and sushi my friends ordered looked incredible as well. The spice level was perfect for my spicy palette and I had to get a few glasses of water to satiate myself. My only wish was that they had some tasty sake to wash it down with!

There wasn't a wait when we got there which was nice so we were sat immediately. Takuma was our waiter and answered all of my questions and helped me decide what I wanted to get since there were so many options that sounded good. FOOD Curry ramen- it was so creamy and delicious. They really did something wonderful with this broth. The portion size was great, and enough for me to enjoy the meal there and take some home for later. Beyond sushi roll- just tasty. I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely get this again. Beyond ramen- my friend got this and let me taste it. It was also tasty. They really know what they're doing back there. DRINK Thai iced tea, it was cool AMBIANCE It was a chill place with cool art, and the wallpaper was cute too. A very easy going environment with medium foot traffic for the dine in experience which was convenient for me. People were picking up food orders left and right though. HONORABLE MENTION At the very end Takuma brought us each out a beautiful mini bouquet of flowers that just made my day. A special color for each of us. I will DEFINITELY be coming back. The vegan ramen surpassed my expectations on flavor and I was truly blown away. That's a place I'd recommend to anybody (vegan or not).

It was refreshing to not be disappointed by our ramen, so my mom and I went back less than a week later. Any issues we experienced our first visit were either repeated or amplified during our second visit. Both times I noticed that the ramen isn't served hot. At best, it's served warm, so despite being a quick eater, the last bites of my bowls were "enjoyed" cold. Also, the restaurant is very busy with to go orders, so the overwhelmed staff has to juggle dine in as well as delivery drivers and their priority is the to go orders. They have a sign up/wait list, but they don't follow it. Customers who stand at the door, in the staff's view, will be seated before others who signed up before, but are off to the side. Lastly, is the issue of cleanliness. Our first visit the restaurant didn't feel very clean, but by the second, I was sure they weren't cleaning throughly. We ordered fresh garlic and the garlic masher they gave still had old garlic inside. On top of that, they don't wipe tables between customers because they're so busy. Strictly rating the food, Kai Ramen deserves a solid 4 stars, but as a whole, I think 3 stars is generous. Unfortunately, another visit wouldn't change anything because the problem is caused by management understaffing and overworking employees.

We ordered the crunchy sushi roll, the spicy Totonsku and edamame . The food was delicious!!! We never been here before and didn't know what to expect . Edamame was warm and snappy . Crunch roll was on the bigger side, exactly what you expect of shrimp tempura and imitation crab . Lastly the soup , very very spicy . We asked the waitress for about 6-7 of spicy and I think we got like 9. I am not complaining I though, I think we needed the heat . We had to eat the soup with the edamame simultaneously: it was that hot . If you like spicy order the spicy tontonsku, and also order a Pinot Grigio to go with it. Best combination ever , the brightness of the wine would cool down my palate as a gulped the fire water from the soup . If you don't like spicy , make sure you tell them you want it less spicy . Overall : I'm intrigued and want to go back . I did not give it 5 starts because it was very quiet , there was no music ; we can hear the food being made in the kitchen. Which to me it's not a problem, but having some nice melodic tunes wouldn't hurt the ambience neither. Come to Tamashii House if you dare !

Susuru Ramen Bar is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and N Kingsley Dr. The lot is small sharing spaces with other restaurants so your best bet is street parking, which can also be tricky especially later in the day. The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. Definitely worth checking out for a great bowl of ramen.
