Did not get a chance to buy anything. Three cars in line, I pull in on the side with only one car. The lady is leaning out the window having a friendly chat with the customer. She is not taking money, she is not making a drink. She looks at me... and continues to chat. I don't have time for that kind of time wasting. I left and will never be there again. If they're going to serve their customers instead of blabbering I might give them a second chance, but a casual chat while not doing anything isn't working. If I do give them a second chance it's going to be a long time coming. I actually drove across town to go to them, never again. The people working there need to realize their customers have busy lives and that's why they're going through a drive-thru. I've been here a few times now. Prices are OK. $3.75 for a 12oz mocha. Their mocha is a little on the sweeter side, doesn't have that coffee taste as much as I'd like. The barista was pretty nice, asked how my day was. They have a special frapp that they do each month which might be fun to try on a hot day. They have stickers and punch cards! I came down here for a little caffeine fix after work. The Sugar Shack is a little coffee hut located on the Bailey's Furniture parking lot at the corner of C St. and International Airport Rd. There was a second location in downtown next to the Lucky Wishbone that was a good spot for coffee, but unfortunately they were kicked off their lease by the Lucky Wishbone which owns the dirt lot they were on. I asked the barista if they had plans to open a second location and she replied, "Yes, but not anytime soon." Aside from that, the baristas here are generally friendly and always eager to take your drink order. I placed an order for one of their specialty drinks: The Nutty Irishman (a hazelnut and Irish Crème latte). There is a reason that I decided to go with two stars rather than four which I would've considered from previous visits. The menu they have is an old one which was not updated. I tried ordering one of their Pizza Pretzels as a snack on the side, but she told me they no longer offer those anymore despite the fact that it was still advertised on the window. I decided to go with a regular Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. The cookie was bland and cold to the point where it was close to becoming frozen having been placed next to the sliding windows all day. In addition to my coffee drink, the barista was also helping another customer on the other end and alternating between that person's order and mine. My concern here was that she left the window open with the drinks exposed to the cold wind. By the time I got my order, the drink was already lukewarm. I was disappointed but already too tired to reorder after a long work day. I will give them another chance and an update when the weather gets warmer. read more

Their drinks is horrible. It depends too who's mixing the drinks. It's never enough ice to balance the syrup. It's cold at the top and warm at the bottom. Even their punch cards. I always order more than one drink. So I finally asked today about how their punch card works. If it's one punch per purchased drink. They seem upset and punched way more than three drinks I purchase up to the free drink. NEVER going back there. Even when I'm not satisfied I've been going there because they're 24 hours. I have been getting coffee from Sugar Shack for several years. I can fit through there in my dump truck, the employees are always cheerful, knowledgeable, and very respectful prices are great. If you're looking for excellent customer service and knowledgeable girls, this is your go to place. Unfortunately, that's the only positive comment I have in this review. I have been a loyal customer for the past three years and I'm saddened to say that things just aren't the way they used to be. It first began with the shop constantly running out of items. I drive out of my way to stop by for a pretzel and guess what...no pretzels. I began to a see a pattern shortly after when they ran out of plain bagels and even whole milk. How do you run out of whole milk? To top it off, the shop stopped carrying my favorite meat burritos and now carry a gas station wanna be burrito. BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL. My dad even stops by every morning just for them. We're more than happy to pay the $7 than $4.50 for the new shotty ones. I thought I'd give it another chance only because the shop has done me so well these past few years. I stopped by to get a tan mocha and I watched the new girl use a powdered chocolate. When handing it over she insisted I try it to see if it was perfect. It was funky to me so the kind lady re made it. I didn't want to hurt her feelings again so I told her it was perfect. I freaking tossed it after sipping an ounce. I had my tipping point Thursday night after my last drink. I quite honestly have to say, The girls (except the dark hair one) makes the drinks not much flavor, or too syrupy, or CLUMPY blended drinks. other than that, They have amazing redbull drinks and cappuccino's ! Also, one blondish brown hair girl had a snobby attitude when she kept having to remake the drink, (too syrupy, clumpy, and I gave up on the 3rd time with her, she stared at me through her window and mine.. uncomfortable and rube). For the past year I've been a customer here and from day one the prices have never been consistent. In fact, over the course of a week I did a comparison. The same two drinks, the same size and the prices varied from $9.00, $9.50, $9.75, $10.00 and even as high as $11.00! It makes me feel like I'm being ripped off no matter which employee is working. Today was the breaking point for me. I've mentioned the inconsistency to the person working on numerous occasions with no sign of improvement. When the drinks were brought to the window, the total given was $9.50. I mentioned the last time I came through that the total was $9 and even produced a receipt. I was told that I was mischarged last time and repeated again that the total was $9.50. I handed $20 over and was given $10 change. When I asked about the 50 cents I was told that the price was $10. I pointed out that they twice said that the price was $9.50 which my passenger even heard but still refused to give the remainder of my change. This Sugar Shack location is located in the Bailey's Furniture parking lot near International Airport Rd and C St. As the name suggests, this place is more about syrupy sweet lattes and mochas than about coffee. Something I noticed about this Sugar Shack and the other one on 5th Ave is that neither has a sign says which coffee roaster they use. Everywhere else has a Kaladi or SteamDot sign, but this one has nothing which tells me they must buy coffee beans in bulk. Nothing wrong with that per se, but you can taste something is different if you drink coffee as much as I do. Anyway, this place is okay. Service and prices and everything are pretty standard. I will say though, it irked me a bit when one time I paid in cash and the barista asked if I wanted my change. It was only a quarter or two, but it's the principle. I have no problem tipping baristas if I feel it's deserved and I will often tell them to keep the change if I pay in cash. But come on now. Just give back the change unless the customer says otherwise. Thankfully it was an isolated incident and all the other baristas have been nice. Not my first pick if I want some quality espresso, but a nice place if I want to indulge my sweet tooth with a white mocha. read more
