Pano from rooftop, 4 stories up. Awesome industrial view.

Always a good time. What's better than having a beer or two on a Friday afternoon on the rooftop. We didn't have any food, so I can't opine. Overall an excellent afternoon in the sun and 70°+.

Best view for a dinner ever!!!! Got the halibut and the Crab grilled cheese. The crab grilled cheese is definitely a must try, but it is heavy. Very good though. The halibut! Delicious...... (hate to put this in a review, you won't go wrong getting the halibut but F street Bar wins on which I thought was best- and it's way cheaper- but you don't have the view at F street bar) so WIN/WIN. Either way. I can't wait to come back to 49th state brewery and enjoy more food and more view! Oh the bread pudding!!!! Finally found a good one. This is the best bread pudding I have had in years!!! Order it

Cool brewery. Lots of levels with amazing views. Convenient location. Plenty of seating. They even have merch. You can also grab their beers in store. So if don't want to stay and eat can still swing by yo grab their beers. We sat at too level. There are many different ones and lots of great scenery. The flowers are beautiful. We ordered beer that was okay. Also had a Paloma that was meh. Ordered the flatbread with reindeer sausage and some other meat and that was tasty. Mac and cheese was also good. A great place for a meal or just to hang for sure. Service was amazing. Very accommodating and super friendly!!!

Huge, vibrant brewpub with a water view and outdoor patio. Lots of interesting beers and cocktails. We sat on the upper patio at the bar - bartender was friendly and helpful. It did start raining while we were there and unfortunately the bar does not have any cover to it, but it added to the experience. We had a salmon bowl and the crab grilled cheese. Both were huge portions and delicious, salmon chowder that came with the crab grilled cheese was especially delicious!

I loved this place. First time here, first time in Alaska, actually. My gf is vegan and we were looking for somewhere that could accommodate her dietary needs and found 49th State Brewing. She got the Vegan Buddha Bowl, I got the Mt. Magnificent burger, and we shared the Mexican street corn. Everything was exceptional. Her strawberry lemonade was delicious, I got a hard cider- we were both happy. We skipped dessert because the food we ordered was already more than enough. I want to give a special shout-out to Forrester. This guy --- amazing. Knowledgeable about the menu, quick to give me his opinion when I asked for it (without me feeling like I'm being upsold) attentive to our needs and patient while we made our decisions. The man excels in communication and hospitality. I don't know what you're paying him but he deserves more. I watched him serve multiple tables at once including a massive party of 12-15 people and at no point did I feel as though we were neglected. By the end of our meal I flagged him down to make sure he knew what an exceptional job he did for us while juggling half a dozen other parties at the same time. I normally tip 20-25%, 15% for bad service -- Forrester got 40% from me. If you go here make sure you ask for him.

We actually visited this brewery twice, so I'm kind of combining both experiences into one review. The first time we stopped by on a Friday, and the place was absolutely packed. There were just too many people, so we decided to grab dinner elsewhere and come back another day. The next afternoon, we returned hoping for a less crowded experience, and we're glad we did. The female hosts were very friendly and let us know the rooftop bar had just opened, so of course we had to check it out! The bartenders were all wicked chill, and the views from upstairs were amazing. We loved the unique beer flavors and combinations, and the flight options let us sample quite a variety. Although we didn't try any food, they do have a food menu available. The entire place was very clean, which we appreciated. There is metered street parking both in the front and behind the building, so if you can't find a spot out front, be sure to check the back street. Overall, we highly recommend this brewery if you're visiting the area and would definitely stop by again!

Great food choice in the Anch airport ! The atmosphere was relaxing and open. Service was great and food was a solid 8/10. I also ordered a Paloma that was out of this world good ! Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite with some great options this is your spot. You have to try the seafood chowder

    The Chili AK Salmon Bowl

Stopped in for lunch between our cruise drop off and flight departure. The place was hopping on a Monday afternoon (Memorial Day). It was "seat yourself," and we found a two top. The servers seemed a little new, but the service was good and friendly. They carry Frontier brand sodas which we found to be excellent for their flavor. We got root beer and ripe raspberry soda. I ordered the Chili AK Salmon Bowl which our server confirmed is wild salmon. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. Both meals were really good. I especially liked the sauce on the salmon bowl so much so that I asked for a little more only to be charged for the extra sauce. I also noticed they include a service charge on the bill (note that this was not gratuity). They told us it was to help them get seasonal labor and to cover overhead. Maybe this is an Alaska thing, but with menu prices as high as these, why would you need to add a service charge? Pricing and nickel & diming aside, I would recommend this place.

    NA beer.

My new favorite brewery. This place has something for everyone! First off, they have one of the best NA beers I've ever had. I combined it with the best pretzel I've ever had. I ended up going back two more times during my stay. They have indoor and outdoor, main restaurant and two roof tops, savory and sweet (they serve ice cream outside) and they even had live music. It will be the first place I visit on my return to Anchorage. Well done! They make their own soda and have a nice gift shop as well.

Outstanding experience here last night. This was a business dinner, and although it was very busy with a long line, we were treated with amazing hospitality, which made the wait for a table completely worthwhile. This also went with the great customer service experience, very attentive even though every table taken, very impressive. The lime seltzer water is a must if you do not drink. The burger was delicious, cooked properly. And fries were great. Great lively ambience, just an absolute pleasure.

Amazing Crab artichoke dip. A must have.

It's our first time in Anchorage and decided to go to dinner to one of the most popular restaurants in Downtown Anchorage and now I know why it's so popular. Heads up, this place usually has 1 to 1.5 hour wait to get seated. We went around 8:45pm and were already slowing down so we got seated on the second floor terrace in 30 min. The view is amazing from there. We started off with an appetizer which was the crab spinach and artichoke dip. I think it's a must have. It was so delicious and probably one of the best I've eaten. For the main course I had the 49th state fish n chips. Considered the best in Anchorage and I see why. It was perfectly fried with the right amount of batter, crisp and the fish super tender. I loved it. My wife and daughter shared the salmon which they really enjoyed and my son ordered the baked Mac-n-cheese. Got to try it and it was also delicious. To drink I had a hard cider, my wife had the Belgium Dall which I tried some and I usually don't like beer but that one was tasty. My daughter ordered a strawberry lemonade which she enjoyed and my son ordered a root beer that a local place makes. And for Dessert we ordered the chocolate cream pie. Even the dessert was delicious. I'm so glad we got there at the perfect time with a pretty short wait. Once again the line is usually long to be seated because the food and ambiance is spectacular. You have been warned. If you get in, enjoy!!

So delicious! Got the halibut fish and chips and the king crab grilled cheese. Got the cloud berry burst soda, which was tasty too. A great last restaurant to our trip to Alaska.

Party of 6 and we all tried different things. Mac and cheese was fine - nothing special. The halibut cheeks were a swing and a miss - get the fish and chips instead. The fish and chips were good. Fish tacos were good. Can't say enough about the delicious crabby grilled cheese with a little seafood chowder to dip it in.

Ordered a wedding cake for a casual elopement…read more Cake execution: pretty awful. To be honest, the cake wasn't all that pretty to begin with but it got worse as the day went on and it thawed out more. Picked up my cake around 4pm and by 7pm it was a tilted Mad Hatter cake. I assure you, it was not damaged during transport. When we cut into the cake to serve slices, an entire chunk of cake was missing from the bottom tier and "spackled in" with frosting. This caused the cake to collapse and the top tier slid off to one side. There was also no dowel support between to the top and bottom tiers. Just a cardboard round which slid on top of the buttercream. That probably would have been ok if it weren't for the missing chunk of cake. People asked me if I made the cake myself. Hahaha. It was pretty embarrassing. But luckily this was for a very casual elopement, not a big wedding, otherwise I would have been pretty pissed. My parents did pay a decent amount of money for this, roughly $275. I've seen far better from Walmart's bakery. The shop got stars for the following... Cake flavor: very good! I ordered the champagne cake with strawberry filling for the bottom tier and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling for the top tier. All covered in white chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake and fillings were delicious. The frosting was a little gritty, I assume from using granulated sugar, but still tasty. A little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. The cake layers were nice and thick. Customer service: Great! Response time from the shop was excellent. They promptly responded to my emails on the quote and design request. I called the shop when it was about time to pick up my cake and didn't reach anyone at first, but they called me right back. I guess I could have called the shop to let them know the issues with the cake but I have a feeling once the cake leaves their shop in good condition, they would put the blame on the customer. I just won't use them again, for cakes anyways. Anyways, thanks for reading and check out my Mad Hatter cake.

UPDATE: Well, folks…read morewe have heard back from the bakery's "Will M" who takes NO responsibility for the unusual and unheard of practice of hiding plastic straws in the cake and covering it with frosting. Has anyone ever bought an 8-inch cake with 3 thin cake layers and found plastic straws imbedded in it? Yeah, me neither. Nice try Willie, deflecting from the truth with an attack about how I spoke on the phone with your rude employee Joe who got hysterical about my plans to note this experience on Yelp. I was never angry nor abusive when calling to inform the management about the cake issues. I had zero demands, just a request that a bakery manager or owner return my call --of course no one did. The facts are simple, I live in North Carolina and ordered this cake by phone. I had this small cake delivered by a florist who picked up the cake and delivered it with flowers to my 86 year-old parents, (for Mother's Day) one of whom is wheelchair bound and doesn't leave the house. This was noted at the time of the order and explained to the nice young lady who took the order as to why a florist would be picking up the cake. So how does one photograph transparent pieces of plastic in a cake slice, Willie? The cake was inedible. Periodt. Now, instead of recognizing the situation as an opportunity to repair the situation, keep a customer loyal and repair the bakery's reputation, perhaps even reevaluate or change your weird practice of hiding straws in cakes or even an offer to make good somehow, Willie M. chose to be defense and aggressive. I believe warning people about hidden plastic straws in desserts is exactly why we all read YELP reviews. Seriously, do not waste your time and money ordering anything from the AK cake studio. Not taking accountability for a self-inflicted screw up is a major red flag. Their immense number of negative reviews should have been my first red flag. Oh well. Go elsewhere , folks and enjoy a cake that doesn't require plastic rods to hold it in place. Those plastic straws shred when you cut into the cake leaving plastic particles through out the slices. What a dumb practice. Original post: Weird experience that resulted in throwing out the entire cake! Apparently this bakery inserts plastic straws called "supports" into their cakes to "stabilize" them. These straws are not visible and customers have no way to know these straws are hidden in the cake. My 86 year old parents received this chocolate cake and upon eating it found numerous plastic particles through out their slice. Of course they threw it out! They only let me know yesterday as I mentioned ordering another for my Dad. They were adamant I not use this bakery again. So of course I called the bakery today to describe the issue about a cake I ordered for Mother's Day. I asked to speak with the owner or manager and was told by "Joe" neither was in today. I explained the issue and Joe began a bit of a rant about why they use plastic hidden supports due to instability of the fillings and butter in the cake. I asked if there was anyway a recipient would know of these straws and was told there is a label on the box that say something about "supports." I don't know that any cake customer who would know that supports means plastic clear straws through out the cake and said so. Also told Joe that had I known these invisible cake straws were hidden inside the cake, I would not have ordered from them. I asked him to have the management call me with a plan to rectify this bad experience because my parents threw the cake out after finding plastic particles in their servings. Joe's attitude got hostile when I said if nothing happens I will go on Yelp to warn future customers about these plastic supports. He took that as a threat and said so claiming I was trying to "harm the business." I told him how is it harming the business to warn customers this bakery uses hidden plastic straws in their cakes? Again, these straws are not visible (they are clear plastic, do not protrude above the cake's surface and are fragile enough to be broken when cutting into the cake.) I suggested they not use these straws as any customer would be badly surprised by that practice. Of course he tells me no one has ever complained (to him) about it before. He refused to tell me the first name of any manager or owner! Who does that? He told me he would pass on my message but somehow I really dont think he will. I will update this review should this bakery fix this experience. I cannot believe how unpleasant "Joe" was and how irrational he became. Ugh. Do yourselves a favor and get a better experience and a "stable" cake elsewhere in Anchorage.

I brought a friend and her two younger kids, who are still learning English. I was helping them understand the different flavors because they're leaving Alaska tomorrow and really wanted to have ice cream one last time. The employee in the orange shirt seemed extremely impatient while they were trying to sample flavors. They only tried two, and she eventually stopped listening to what they were asking. I understand it was late, and everyone has bad days, but the attitude was unnecessary. What really shocked me was when there was a misunderstanding and she accidentally scooped the wrong flavor. Instead of throwing it away, she ate the scoop of ice cream herself right in front of us. That was honestly so unprofessional and made me question the hygiene standards. We just ordered our ice cream and left because we didn't want to make a scene. I know one employee doesn't represent the entire business, and I've had good experiences here before. But if you're representing a local Alaska business that visitors may remember as part of their Alaska experience, customer service matters. I really hope management addresses this.

Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. It looked like a fritter but it's topped with a dollop of cream cheese frosting so maybe it's some kind of cinnamon roll. It wasn't labeled so I'm not sure.
