The line is out the door here for a reason. We had the veggie egg sandwich and it was delicious. I was worried about how a cold egg sandwich would be but it ended up giving room for more flavors. The roll managed to be both light and hearty, and the poached egg was a great texture combined with the avocado. We also got a chocolate croissant which was buttery, rich, and amazing. We just got take out but the place is light and clean and housed in a small food hall with some other fun options.

This place was worth the hype! I went on a Saturday morning and it was busy with a line to the door, but the service is quick so it went pretty fast. It was really nice to see everything is freshly baked every day, and the quality shows. I got the sausage focaccia and a chocolate cupcake, but after poking my friend's scone, got back in line for a ham and cheddar chive scone. The sausage focaccia was amazing, perfectly soft bread with the right amount of toppings.. 11/10! I normally don't get scones because they're usually hard or dry, but the scones at Fire Island are super moist and perfectly crunchy where they should be.. literally the best scone I've ever had! They have a ton of tables to relax and chat, and they're right next to the That Feeling Co so you can grab a drink to go with your food. They offer a variety of sandwiches and pastries, all decently priced, so if I'm ever back in Anchorage I'll definitely be back!

We smelled this bakery walking by one morning, and we immediately knew we had to visit the next day. We tried savory breakfast focaccia and sweet berry scones, both of which had great textures and flavors. There was a line at the counter, but it moved quickly. Definitely get there early if there is a specific item you want to try! The building itself was very cute and had other great shops to visit, like a coffee shop and plant store.

The best bakery in downtown Anchorage along side That Feeling Company, Johnny's Market, and La Bodega. This small K street Market was hopping on a Saturday morning with a line out the door. It was well worth the wait and they did a fantastic job keeping up with the locals and tourists swarming to enjoy the goods. I ordered a loaf of the vollkornbrot, onion poppyseed rolls, and pecan shortbread cookies. All divine!

We go for the baguette, the sandwiches and sometimes the flaky pastries. Muffins and scones and some of the cookies at mid, at best. Soup is usually fantastic. For those complaining about lack of coffee options, there's a place to get your bougie coffee inside the plant store. Photo is of the "chocolate" croissant we got today. Chocolate taking a holiday I guess.

    - breakfast focaccia with sausage: a bit on the bland side, it's missing something. Maybe a pesto or red pepper sauce. The sausage was good though, and a bit salty, which might have balanced the seasoning in this item but the chunks were too few and big to be balanced. - messy egg salad sandwich: a lot of dill, heavy on the pickled flavor, and good red onion crunch. This was just ok. It looked better than it tasted, unless you're a fan of dill. Mainly got this sandwich to try their bread but the bread was an afterthought. - maple rhubarb muffin: hard pass. Can't taste the rhubarb and barely any maple. The bottom also was more burnt than anything. It seems they may have over mixed their batter, muffin didn't have a tender crumb.

The only negative thing about this place is that you cannot decide one best item. Everything is freshly made from scratch tastes and smells delicious. We visited twice during our stay in Anchorage even though we usually like trying new places.

One of my favorite bakeries I look forward to going to when I visit Anchorage. The variety of pastries breads, soups and sandwich they have always look mouthwatering. It's just a cute place to vibe at and be around the community. There is a coffee shop, plant shop, juice shop and small market in the same building which makes it worth the stop. The seasonal ginger bread chia tea from the coffee shop is like Christmas in your mouth. The turkey sandwich is like thanksgiving with cranberry sauce and pecans. The sweet potato burban cupcake was actually to die for. The cake was moist with a carm filling of pecans and bourbon topped with a light cream cheese frosting. I'm never disappointed with fire island. A jem in anchorage.

This place was wonderful! I definitely recommend coming here if you're in town, delicious breakfast sandwiches and great hospitality! My partner and I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was phenomenal! Even though it was cold, it was still great, I think you can ask them to warm it up but we took it as it is. We came around 10am? It was my favorite item from this bakery. The sausage isn't your typical McDonalds or fast food premade patty (which I cannot stand), I'm pretty sure they make this in house. The sausage was peppery (black pepper) and savory, highly recommend this! The holiday turkey sandwich was okay, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't WOW! I felt like the flavors were all over the place. This was not a good balance between flavors and I just didn't think it worked well together. I think it was too much cranberry sauce that just overpowered everything. If you want to get this and try it, you better love cranberry. BUT it is aesthetically pleasing. The roast beef sandwich was much better in my opinion compared to the turkey. The pickled onions gave it a nice crisp crunch and acidity that I really enjoyed. Everything worked well together and the flavors didn't fight against one another. I'd definitely would get this again! ( the breakfast sandwich was so good we came back twice during our visit)

A must stop if you're visiting in Anchorage!! The shop is very quaint & offers a lot different variety of bakery, breakfast, & lunch options. Everything is made from scratch & you can tell. The shop is also very cool because there are other business connected into the building. Was so good we went back twice!

Great looking and great tasting croissants! Fantastic bread sold too. Wish I can try all of it. So far, we have tried the scones, muffins and croissants. Will be back while we are still here in Anchorage. Service is quick. Lots of crew to help customers.

Stopped by because my mother now has me completely addicted--and I can see why…read more I picked up a variety of their tarts along with a chocolate cake filled with raspberry, and everything was absolutely delicious. Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. You can tell there's intention behind the ingredients and how everything is made. They also have plenty of other baked goods like cookies, brownies, and more, so there's definitely something for everyone. The staff are friendly, and the bakery itself is so cute--such a welcoming little spot that makes the experience even better. If you're looking for treats that feel a little more thoughtful but still indulgent, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

I feel like while I'm acknowledged, it's mainly with a stare. It was like this last time we came in as well. I absolutely do not like the savory rolls. I've had the ham and the reindeer sausage. Both are very small (which you don't know that because they're pre-bagged) -- they were just so oily it wasn't enjoyable. I still like the Apple fritter or whatever it was I got. It looked like a fritter but it's topped with a dollop of cream cheese frosting so maybe it's some kind of cinnamon roll. It wasn't labeled so I'm not sure. My partner ate all of his pastries but didn't comment. I like that they raise funds for the community. It's not a bad shop, but I'm very big on customer service. It's also not close so I tend to go to closer bakeries

Ordered a wedding cake for a casual elopement…read more Cake execution: pretty awful. To be honest, the cake wasn't all that pretty to begin with but it got worse as the day went on and it thawed out more. Picked up my cake around 4pm and by 7pm it was a tilted Mad Hatter cake. I assure you, it was not damaged during transport. When we cut into the cake to serve slices, an entire chunk of cake was missing from the bottom tier and "spackled in" with frosting. This caused the cake to collapse and the top tier slid off to one side. There was also no dowel support between to the top and bottom tiers. Just a cardboard round which slid on top of the buttercream. That probably would have been ok if it weren't for the missing chunk of cake. People asked me if I made the cake myself. Hahaha. It was pretty embarrassing. But luckily this was for a very casual elopement, not a big wedding, otherwise I would have been pretty pissed. My parents did pay a decent amount of money for this, roughly $275. I've seen far better from Walmart's bakery. The shop got stars for the following... Cake flavor: very good! I ordered the champagne cake with strawberry filling for the bottom tier and chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling for the top tier. All covered in white chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake and fillings were delicious. The frosting was a little gritty, I assume from using granulated sugar, but still tasty. A little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. The cake layers were nice and thick. Customer service: Great! Response time from the shop was excellent. They promptly responded to my emails on the quote and design request. I called the shop when it was about time to pick up my cake and didn't reach anyone at first, but they called me right back. I guess I could have called the shop to let them know the issues with the cake but I have a feeling once the cake leaves their shop in good condition, they would put the blame on the customer. I just won't use them again, for cakes anyways. Anyways, thanks for reading and check out my Mad Hatter cake.

UPDATE: Well, folks…read morewe have heard back from the bakery's "Will M" who takes NO responsibility for the unusual and unheard of practice of hiding plastic straws in the cake and covering it with frosting. Has anyone ever bought an 8-inch cake with 3 thin cake layers and found plastic straws imbedded in it? Yeah, me neither. Nice try Willie, deflecting from the truth with an attack about how I spoke on the phone with your rude employee Joe who got hysterical about my plans to note this experience on Yelp. I was never angry nor abusive when calling to inform the management about the cake issues. I had zero demands, just a request that a bakery manager or owner return my call --of course no one did. The facts are simple, I live in North Carolina and ordered this cake by phone. I had this small cake delivered by a florist who picked up the cake and delivered it with flowers to my 86 year-old parents, (for Mother's Day) one of whom is wheelchair bound and doesn't leave the house. This was noted at the time of the order and explained to the nice young lady who took the order as to why a florist would be picking up the cake. So how does one photograph transparent pieces of plastic in a cake slice, Willie? The cake was inedible. Periodt. Now, instead of recognizing the situation as an opportunity to repair the situation, keep a customer loyal and repair the bakery's reputation, perhaps even reevaluate or change your weird practice of hiding straws in cakes or even an offer to make good somehow, Willie M. chose to be defense and aggressive. I believe warning people about hidden plastic straws in desserts is exactly why we all read YELP reviews. Seriously, do not waste your time and money ordering anything from the AK cake studio. Not taking accountability for a self-inflicted screw up is a major red flag. Their immense number of negative reviews should have been my first red flag. Oh well. Go elsewhere , folks and enjoy a cake that doesn't require plastic rods to hold it in place. Those plastic straws shred when you cut into the cake leaving plastic particles through out the slices. What a dumb practice. Original post: Weird experience that resulted in throwing out the entire cake! Apparently this bakery inserts plastic straws called "supports" into their cakes to "stabilize" them. These straws are not visible and customers have no way to know these straws are hidden in the cake. My 86 year old parents received this chocolate cake and upon eating it found numerous plastic particles through out their slice. Of course they threw it out! They only let me know yesterday as I mentioned ordering another for my Dad. They were adamant I not use this bakery again. So of course I called the bakery today to describe the issue about a cake I ordered for Mother's Day. I asked to speak with the owner or manager and was told by "Joe" neither was in today. I explained the issue and Joe began a bit of a rant about why they use plastic hidden supports due to instability of the fillings and butter in the cake. I asked if there was anyway a recipient would know of these straws and was told there is a label on the box that say something about "supports." I don't know that any cake customer who would know that supports means plastic clear straws through out the cake and said so. Also told Joe that had I known these invisible cake straws were hidden inside the cake, I would not have ordered from them. I asked him to have the management call me with a plan to rectify this bad experience because my parents threw the cake out after finding plastic particles in their servings. Joe's attitude got hostile when I said if nothing happens I will go on Yelp to warn future customers about these plastic supports. He took that as a threat and said so claiming I was trying to "harm the business." I told him how is it harming the business to warn customers this bakery uses hidden plastic straws in their cakes? Again, these straws are not visible (they are clear plastic, do not protrude above the cake's surface and are fragile enough to be broken when cutting into the cake.) I suggested they not use these straws as any customer would be badly surprised by that practice. Of course he tells me no one has ever complained (to him) about it before. He refused to tell me the first name of any manager or owner! Who does that? He told me he would pass on my message but somehow I really dont think he will. I will update this review should this bakery fix this experience. I cannot believe how unpleasant "Joe" was and how irrational he became. Ugh. Do yourselves a favor and get a better experience and a "stable" cake elsewhere in Anchorage.
