I really thought this would be a go to, but it's not. Clearly understaffed which shapes the attitude of the staff here. This place was not only overpriced, but to wait on a cold sandwich, a breakfast plate and a cold served clumpy split pea soup for over an hour is unacceptable. To add, my avocado melt was not also cold but had no cheese. Worst Avocado melt ever - no cheese and served cold. I was told the Baco was the melt just with bacon. When addressing it, another young lady asked who gave me that info and said - no you were misinformed and the young lady did apologize and stated that the cashier put in the order wrong and gave us a free pastry. I appreciated that, however paying 68$ for that, it won't happen again.

We are vegans from LA and did not expect so many amazing options at this restaurant! People who work here are super nice and a vibe of a family owned place even though it's not small at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful art work by a local artist and great vegan desserts!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] See pics below. Thank you for making these options for people who love animals.

Wow!! Middle Way Cafe for breakfast today!! Was going to do a simple fast food stop but decided to give them a try, and I am glad I did!! Talk about Happy Mouth Food!! I had the North Coast Omelet with organic eggs, diced reindeer sausage , added bacon, spinach caramelized onions and Swiss cheese It came with toast , they forgot to ask which type and was hidden under plate with omelet and potatoes, lol Had to ask where it was. The potatoes were perfectly flavored ,soft with a light crunch, could have been crunchier but was great I highly recommend giving them a try Oh lots of pastry options as well!! Enjoyed a Raspberry Iced mocha as well

Middle Way is a solid option for breakfast and lunch in Anchorage. Their food is consistent and tasty, the staff are friendly. Certainly one of my favorite breakfast places in Anchorage.

Mayflower Sandwich (GF Option Available) with sprouts. Yummmm

I've come to Middle Way for years, but never written a review. The food is phenomenal. Healthy, fresh and soooo good. Their baked goods are why I come. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This cute place is always bustling, but a great place to work on your computer or grab lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite is any of the sandwiches, with added sprouts. The carrot cake is to die for!!! The best carrot cake I've ever had! Wonderful service and attentive staff. Lots of GF options

Been a little disappointed with how things have turned out price wise and what you get for value. My little English muffin with one egg and a few pieces of bacon for $10! Doesn't even come with anything, home fries would have been another $4.50. I was very surprised that it was basically empty at 8am on a wednesday. On the weekends they used to be very popular, maybe they still are? I paid over $30 for this breakfast sandwich and a breakfast burrito. Meh. Also not interested in their lunch options

This is a Denver/Asheville/mountain town place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a great vibe and lots of food choices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee and water are self serve. You order at the counter and they bring your food. Espresso options, vegan options are available. I would surely go back.

I'm not a big sandwich-orderer, but I was surprisingly happy with my Mayflower order. Loved the side soup too but would have preferred it to be a little chunkier. The blue corn tortilla chips and salsa were a nice addition. Felt like I was making good, health-conscious decisions coming here :)

Can you try and have a savory bakery VEGETARIAN option? It's always so disappointing when there's bacon and chicken in everything. ?

Hi Stephanie P. I'd love to make you some savory Vegetarian Options. We are presently reworking the bakery and have introduced vegatarian quiche daily, as well as hand pies (on alternating days) and scones. You can contact me at Middleway by…

However, the vegetarian menu is the reason why I chose Oasis over many others around Anchorage when I arrived. Many restaurants' vegetarian/vegan options are limited consisting of bar foods like vegan burgers, French fries, salads and fried pickles that are high in salt and greasy high fats. This place is completely different; for instance, the bowls and wraps section, which you can customize with optional brown rice, quinoa, flatbread, or tortilla. I chose the Vegan High-Protein bowl and quinoa. The tofu was soft and flavorful, and the hummus was perfectly complementary. The star was the in-house salad dressing, which I can't remember what was in it and what its name was, but it was green, tangy and phenomenal. The food was so good that I returned on Saturday, and there was no drop-off in flavor and service. This place is highly recommended, and whenever I'm back in Anchorage, I would definitely be returning.

Organic Oasis had some great reviews and the two in my party were semi-vegetarians. There were 6 other people in the room. The menu was well laid out and had great options for the meat challenged. We ordered our lunch at 1130. We were served water and then we waited... and waited. At 1230, we debated on leaving when I finally asked the hostess if she knew how much longer it would be, her response was curt and short, "they just started it." We thought it was odd that with so few in the room, the meal was just started nearly an hour after ordering. At 1250 the meal arrived. We had ordered the protein plate, a Thai salad and a turkey sandwich. The protein plate had an unseasoned burger patty that was crispy on the outside and raw on the inside and the steamed vegetables were barely cooked with the carrots still having the peels on them, the Thai plate had zero sauce. The turkey sandwich was exceptional, I opted for no cheese and added avocado. At 115, I went to the counter and the hostess looked very weary and asked what I wanted when the phone rang. She picked it up and immediately hung it back up without answering, then took the receiver off the phone. I said I would like to pay my bill. At this point, the hostess turned to the waiter who had been waiting on us saying, "these are yours." Three meals, only the sandwich was edible, came to $75. Wow. We were hoping that someone was just having a bad day, but seeing other reviews, our experience was similar to others. Will not be going back.

Acai Alaska is located in a small trailer/food truck that sits atop a hill on the corner of Brandon St. and Old Seward Highway directly across from Southside Grill. There are new owners who have taken over from the original who operated at a strip mall off of Lake Otis and Dowling several years ago. The employees are super friendly and easy to converse with. The menu hasn't changed much although some of the food items like Musubi and almost all of the sandwich selections except the Grilled Cheese and Grilled Cheese with Ham are no longer available. There is a drive-thru window on one side where you can place your order. I ordered the Mauna Kea Bowl (topped with bananas, blueberries, strawberries, macadamia nuts, walnuts, chocolate-covered almonds, granola with raisins, and coconut shavings) on the Nutty Heaven base (Acai berries, bananas, strawberries, and peanut butter). The ingredients were fresh, filling, and made to order so expect to wait several minutes if there are a line of cars. However, it is worth the wait and easily a delicious healthy alternative for lunch and not just a snack. Other items on the menu include the Tiger Shark (blackberries, kiwi, raspberries, walnuts, almonds, goji berries, bee pollen, chia, and a variety of seeds that includes pumpkin, sunflower, flax, and hemp seeds), the Bonsai (kiwi, chocolate-covered Acai/blueberry, macadamia nuts, and spirulina) with a unique color combination once the ingredients are blended together, the Sleeping Lady Smoothie (Acai blend topped with mango and shredded coconut), and the Fireweed Smoothie (Acai blend topped with acerola and goji berries). Punch cards are offered for return visits. Buy nine bowls, get the tenth one for free. The blends are all dairy free & there's no added sugars. On this visit I ordered a 16oz MOFO bowl (blackberries, kiwi, mango, raspberries, strawberries, chocolate covered açaí & blueberries, granola with raisins & almonds, coconut shavings & I added a honey drizzle) with the original açaí blend. For my son I got the 16 oz Hawaiian blend smoothie. I love these smoothies for kids because all the sugar comes from the fruit. Go check this trailer out to get yourself a nice healthy treat!
