I usually get my Kimchi from Costco, but not anymore. After eating their Kimchee there's just no comparison. If you're into Asian and Indian foods I recommend coming here.

Wow, what a great sense of community!…read more I highly recommend stopping by the Spenard Farmer's Market, the earlier the better. The feel isn't that of "kitschy touristy keepsakes", as the downtown market often is. These are all local businesses run by locals. In addition to lots of fresh produce, there are also lots of hip new businesses serving up great eats. And they have live music. They've also got "kiddie tables" for the little ones. The smoothies are on point and they even have avocado as an option now so you already know I'm super sold!! I've used the online website to order one time - I never did get a notification my stuff was ready, but when I walked in at the eta time it was ready. The location off Huffman has better parking. The one off C street is so crowded with all the other stuff in that strip mall. They have a points system, I haven't received enough points to see what it translates too to redeem.

The rest of the lot was amusement park rides. There was a booth to dress up and take photos with Alaskan huskies, ulu knives, handmade candles, fur, photography, jewelry, and my favorite: Christmas ornaments made of Alaskan clay. I had to get one and start my travel Christmas tree ornament collection. Paid parking across the street and they were actively ticketing!

The carnival rides took up a majority of the parking lot, which limited how many vendors could possibly be there. With it only open a few months, I would expect more vendors to be out when the weather is nice. I honestly was pretty disappointed in how little they offered. There were a few decent stands, but the prices seemed to be pretty high compared to what was being offered and seemed to be more geared towards tourists rather than folks living in the area.

Today I was searching for Taiwanese rice vinegar. When I was about to give up, I found it in the vinegar isle, not the Asian sauce isle, like I would have suspected! New Sagaya Midtown has a fantastic selection of all things one might need to make some killer Asian or Mexican dishes and I love coming here for that. The main downside is that they are expensive, typically in the L48 stores like Uwajimaya and Hmart are cheaper than Safeway/QFC but that is simply not the case here. The store is relatively clean and well lit, there is no funky odor which is greatly appreciated. The cashier is always quick, but that's the extent of the service I have received at the store. I will keep coming back when I need to find a special ingredient to keep exploring the culinary world.

A sign at the cheese kiosk advertised 20% off Murray's Cambozola Black Label if you have a Fred…read moreMeyer loyalty card, which I do have. The unit price on the label/sticker was $24.99/lb. That's the price if you don't have the loyalty card and, thus, don't get the discount. The sticker then went on to show the "price with card," i.e., the discounted price, i.e. the 20% off price. And that unit price showed as $20.69/lb. That's a discount, yes, but it's not a 20% discount. To simplify, let's say the un-discounted unit price was $25/lb (a penny more than the actual un-discounted price). What's 20% of $25? Five dollars. So the discounted price with loyalty card should have been $20/lb. Another sign at the kiosk advertised 20% off Murray's Aged Manchego. Same problem: Fred's system didn't calculate the 20% correctly. The un-discounted unit price was $26.99/lb., but the same sticker showed the price with card to be $23.59/lb. Twenty percent off $26.99 is $21.59, not $23.59. So, I was being charged $2 more per pound than the advertised price on the sign right there at the kiosk. The nice young woman at the cheese kiosk seemed to understand what I explained to her in person, but she said she couldn't change the pricing; all the cheese sales staff does is weigh the portions and their system spits out a label. So I spoke in person to the man at the customer service counter, who also told me he couldn't change the pricing system and he didn't think anyone else in the store could, either. He noted that the PLU number on the sign didn't match the PLU on the sticker affixed to the hunk of cheese. I phoned and spoke with a grocery manager who did not listen, tried to say I misunderstood, then hung up on me. Then I phoned the 800 number and, once I got past the automated answering system and spoke to a person, she listened, seemed to understand, and said she'd pursue it. Bottom line for you, other Freddie's patrons, is: Check the math on the advertised discount. Make sure that the discount shown on the label agrees with the advertised discount.
