Looks are deceiving! When we opened the door there was that moment of "what did I walk into?" Very bare-bones...take out only...limited menu but OHHHHHHH MANNNNNN was I wrong. My coworker used to live in Anchorage and so while we're here visiting clients for work recommended this place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but let me tell you they have one of the best breakfast burritos I've had on the West Coast. Eight dollars for something the size of what you would get at Chipotle. Packed full of meat, egg and cheese with just a little bit of potato to not overshadow the flavor. Owner was super kind and would definitely recommend coming back. There were large snow drifts all around the drive up only access and had to wait patiently for orders to be made, but it was well worth the wait. read more

I've been to this little restaurant (through the drive through) a few times and it never fails. They have good food, good portions, and good prices. The breakfast burritos are always cooked on demand and sandwiches and side salads are fresh. Because of that, there may be a line of cars, but it's worth the wait! read more

Maybe I was grumpy last year, no I know I was grumpy last year, so I wrote that review based on lack of patience and empathy. This place is reasonable priced for breakfast burritos, but I have noticed that it's gone up $1.50 in the past couple of years. Probably due to inflation mixed with little competition in the area. I get to work earlier so there are usually less people and food comes out faster. I can definitely relate to Anastasia B. and her pain, so if I'm pinched for time I probably wouldn't stop in. Breakfast burritos and bagels are a safe bet, but the biscuits and gravy are not good at all. I don't know about the other items, but I would like to try the Thai food sometime. read more

Tl;dr $2 lattes and legit reindeer breakfast burritos. These are the best on-the-fly reindeer breakfast burritos I've found in Anchorage, but beware: you need to eat them over a table or ask for a large to-go container to eat over. I've definitely dropped off dry cleaning with traces of salsa from these burritos. Like life, these burritos are messy but good. The owner here is a personable entrepreneur and prepares the food from scratch. Disregard the collection of vehicles, pallets, and old appliances around the drive through. Similarly, disregard the menu's typos: while misspellings like "notella" crepes might have geeks like me furrowing our brows, the Nutella crepes are a worthwhile reward for not dwelling on misspellings and punctuation. ((Also, please don't dwell on my spelling and grammar errors in my Yelp reviews lol.)) The massive English muffin sandwiches are another breakfast standout here. The wait time to get food here: much longer than most Espresso stands. The food here: much more inventive and of better quality than pretty much any espresso stand in town! I come here for breakfast, I'm usually grabbing a coffee (drip, I'm not fancy :( ) and a burrito/sando. Coffee: is good, it does what coffee needs to do: warms me and caffeinates me. (cold decafe = world's most pointless beverage) Sandos: probably the best grab-n-go breakfast sandos in town! Easily the best bagel sandwich I've had in Anchorage. (yep, even better than the places with "bagel" in their name) Breakfast burritos: YUGE. So big. Quality is good, not great, but the size is really something you just have to get your hands around to appreciate. Great spot to go before work if, like me, you wake up with hunger pains. The coffee is good. We used to come here for a reindeer sausage burrito and an egg and bacon omelet cup a couple times a month. Unfortunately the last time I went there was so much ice built up in the drive thru, my car slid within one inch of the building (I would've been furious if it slid into the building, it did scare my kids when it happens). Also, went home and was sharing the omelet cup with my daughter but it looked wet. Turns out it wasn't "wet", it was literally raw egg. Half of the egg was raw and the cheese was freshly sprinkled from the fridge and unmelted. Bummer. If I wanted to cook an egg omelet for my kids I would've done that at home myself. But I don't always like cooking every meal hence the drive thru. Had to go home and cook anyway and was out the cash I paid for the raw eggs I got. This is my favorite breakfast place and coffee shop in Anchorage. The food is always amazing. My favorite is their bacon breakfast burrito, and my mom loves their biscuits and gravy. There is a little wait but that is because the food is freshly made, and it's totally worth it. The customer service is amazing. The guy at the window is always super friendly. Most winter mornings the only reason why I got out of bed and headed to work as to get a steak burrito from here. They're so good! And reasonably priced. Only downside is the wait. I think it's a one woman show, and making a steak burrito isn't a race, so if I'm running tight on time I usually skip this place all together. But the flavors are great, it's made fresh to order and they're so nice and friendly here. Everyone in my office is obsessed with this place. Alright. So I'm driving by and am hungry, but don't have a lot of time. At first I wasn't even sure if the place was open until I got around the front where an open sign was visible. The amount of junk and vehicles parked everywhere is confusing. Maybe the owners store extra crap on the property because they can? Eye sores in every direction. Like they've never windexed it. Ever. Finger prints and smudges and splashes and splatters, oh my. There was a sign on the window saying closed at noon on 1/12. It's 1/14. Take the sign down already. As I waited I couldn't help but look around inside through the dirty glass. Boxes of receipts and papers in several places, literally just looked like junk everywhere with no organization, rhyme or reason. I noticed the steaming wand on the espresso machine was caked with burnt on milk because it hadn't been cleaned. I was very happy I didn't order coffee after seeing that but looking at the mess everywhere I became nervous about the conditions my food was being cooked in. The woman at the window was pleasant but after I pulled away I got a strong smell of burnt bread. Once I got to my office and opened up my croissant sandwich it was definitely burnt. I think the place has potential but it needs a serious cleaning, a ton of crap removed from the property and far better attention to detail. I would have rather waited longer for a sandwich that wasn't burnt then be rushed off with something barley edible. Mind you no one was waiting behind me. I won't go back nor would I recommend. Best breakfast burrito in Anchorage, period. This funny little drive-through joint situated between A & C Streets just south of 36th (right where A & C merge) is easy to miss. I only found out about it because sometimes my coworkers do mass orders from there (they have a fax machine, apparently). I've been there 5 or 6 times and while they have an impressively varied menu I always get the same thing: the reindeer sausage breakfast burrito, with extra salsa. Weighing in at $4.50, it's a bargain, and boy is it good. You have to try it to believe it. It's great. You can also park on 38th (a weird little street between A & C) and walk in if you want, but don't expect seating or anything. read more

I haven't been here for breakfast so my review applies to lunch and later. I actually feel sorry for the workers as this place seems to be poorly staffed to handle the chosen menu and method of food preparation. I've frequently been told an item is out of stock and I often wonder how safe the food is when the staff is both cashier and food prepper. The traffic through here doesn't seem to make for good business economics and I often wonder if it is a cover for an illicit business activity. The coffee was decent, even borderline good. Well, I'm sure it would have been if I had the opportunity to drink it while hot. I ordered an omelette cup thing for breakfast with egg whites at 7:22am. I sat at the window at the drive thru until 7:52 while the girl did God knows what and then informed me that she made it with regular eggs and it would be "a few more minutes." I don't know what planet the owners live on, but a 30 MINUTE WAIT IN A DRIVE THRU FOR COFFEE AND SOME EGGS IS NOT OK. Nor did appreciate the attitude thrown my way when I said " I can't wait, I have to be at work in 8 minutes." Thankfully I work at the Frontier building and was close. As for the food, I had about 2 bites. The eggs were dry and bland, the sausage was obviously cut up patties and the cheese was just thrown on top of it and half melted. Gross. That's not what I ordered. Maybe the food is good if you want to wait a FLIPPIN HOUR in a drive thru for some microwaved eggs and a decent coffee that's cold by time you drink it. I'm not sure if Espresso Expressions can still be considered a "well-kept secret" of Anchorage, but I like to think that it can. Whenever I mention it to a friend, nine times out of ten they've never heard of it. It's in a random spot and you can only get there by driving (or if you just happen to work in one of the adjacent office buildings). My significant other and I usually go there on weekend mornings for coffee and breakfast, and it's always good. He usually gets an egg breakfast burrito with extra salsa, which costs $4.50 and is HUGE and delicious. Today, I decided to try a breakfast sandwich, with sausage, egg, and cheese on an english muffin. The english muffin was really big, bigger than the kind you buy in the store. The sausage patty was tasty and not too spicy. The big helping of egg was folded over some nicely melted cheddar cheese. All in all, it was delicious. The coffee always tastes good, hot, and well made. My only complaint was that they didn't put the sticker/piece of tape over the sip hole, so I kept getting coffee spilling out while we were driving away. Also worth mentioning: the young lady who works there on weekend mornings is incredibly friendly. I should get her name sometime. Check this place out next time you're driving along the C/A St. corridor. You won't regret it! read more

I'm a vegetarian and their veggie wrap was probably the worst wrap I've had in my entire vegetarian life. The lettuce was the bulk of the wrap and it was ice berg lettuce. There was a slice or two of red pepper, a sliced up banana pepper and some tomatoes. There was absolutely no sauce on the wrap -- it was very dry and awful tasting. I actually put my coleslaw inside the wrap to make it taste better. I was very disappointed because the reviews of this place are so high -- must come from meat eaters. read more

This is the best place for breakfast! The pulled pork breakfast burrito is amazing. Their combination of eggs, potatoes, pulled pork, sour cream and salsa is scrumptious! They have many great dishes here but we come back consistently for the breakfast burrito. They are always friendly and the coffee is hot and delicious. Amazing service! I went here today for the first time because it was convenient - I drive by it every day. I've never stopped before because the outside is a little... I don't know, messy? Disorganized? But don't let that stop you from going! The coffee they made me was delicious - a raspberry white mocha - and then I ordered the cinnamon roll with cream cheese and it was so warm and delicious. We went there and order two drinks on lunch. One was an iced latte and the other a frappacino. The iced latte was made as a normal hot drink and when we asked for the correct drink to be made we got a rude look from the barista and basically attitude along with the remade drink. The food, and staff get 5 stars. The outside needs some cleaning up; there are boxes, brooms, hoses, old kitchen equipment etc. in every possible nook and cranny outside the place. Someone has hit one of the storage buildings, maybe with a snowplow, who's to say. There are missing pieces of siding, perhaps lost during one of the many windstorms we have had, too. All that aside, if you want good, and I mean GOOD, food, stop by, or better yet call ahead, and get some good stuff at a good price from friendly people. Try the steak breakfast burrito-fantastic!
