Come for the cheese. Left with soup, sandwich, and too much cheese! Excellent staff. Bro knows his squeaky cheeese, but too bad, they don't serve the squeaky stuff. We're not in Wisconsin, but it's a close 2nd for the big AK. Tables, chairs, lovely gift store next door. WINE. WHERES THE WINE?!?! Where's the espresso maker? Ok. Enough said. It's just gonna be the cheese.

Top notch service from Ian! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and attended to. The place is so quaint and full of gourmet treats. They make sandwiches for lunch, have some baked goods like pie, sell truffle oil and if that still hasn't hooked you, sample some cheeses and fall in love with the yumminess.

Walked in and it was better than I expected. We stopped in to see if we could put an order in for a charcuterie board. And sadly it was, but the kind gentleman behind the counter put a smile on my face with the next phrase he spoke. We can build a board and you can sample. Oh my heart. We tried 4-5 cheeses and 3 meats. All so delicious, I don't remember the names but I'm going back today so I will update this later. I came here to not talk about the board but a sandwich. We caught them open on a day that they are usually closed. But because of the holidays they are open so they can fill orders. They had a very limited menu so we looked and we ordered. We got the game and cheese with mustard and fig jam. That sandwich is amazing. It has tomato, lettuce, red onion, i believe it's a Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, fig jam on an amazing rustic bread. AMAZING! my daughter and I are meeting for lunch today and yes, yes we are getting that sandwich. She really wanted to try the grilled cheese, but in her text she said I don't even want that anymore. All I could do was laugh. If you find yourself in the area or just want a good sandwich, stop in grab one and maybe you will find something else delicious to nibble on.

I have meaning to come here for YEARS but every time I was in the area - it was closed. But today was the day! I am so happy they were open today for lunch. I ordered the black and blue sandwich and it was BEAUTIFUL. I am a sucker for a good sandwich. If you are a blue cheese lover - this is the sandwich for you. My friend ordered the classic grilled cheese and it came with the cutest little ramekin full of gherkins. The owner is happy to provide cheese samples while you wait. Take the opportunity to try out some fancy cheeses - you won't be disappointed. I will make sure to come back for lunch again soon. Service was awesome, cheese was tasty, and sandwiches full of flavor.

Love having a specialty cheese shop in town. You know you're in good hands when regulars are called out as soon as they walk through the door and samples are offered lovingly. Lunch was amazing - we had two sandwiches and a dessert that we were happy to have leftovers to take with us. Are they steep in price? Perhaps. Are they worth it? I say they are. The flavors and portions are amazing, and I'm eager to come back and try brunch. The setting is interesting as it is adjacent to a gallery, giving it an artsy vibe. And of course, the staff were super helpful in recommending our first try meals and describing what all they have to offer.

The only artisanal cheese ship in Anchorage, but it's also so much more than just a deli! The sandwiches here while pretty pricey are honestly delicious. The Italian sandwich was one of my favorite sandwiches I ate this year. When purchasing I scoffed at the price ($19), and I do still think it's expensive, but it was delicious. An easy way for them to make the price seem a bit more reasonable is including something with their sandwiches. A little side salad, some pasta salad, a potato salad would be nice. I've also tried the cubano. It was good, but I'm very picky about Cubanos and this one was on the drier side sauce wise. This shop came under new ownership in 2021 so many cool things have been added like specialty event dinners. The owner used to operate the pop up "A crepe crew". There were a raclette and cacio e Pepe dinners. On the weekends they do brunch including many of the specialty crepe dishes from a crepe crew. They sometimes carry house made desserts as well. This shop has many specialty cheeses and meats that would be hard to find sold elsewhere in Anchorage. They make beautiful charcuterie boards if you need one for a party. I've gotten their "emergency cheese kits" which are fun little 2 person serving boards. Great for a picnic or to bring for a post hike snack. This shop is one of a kind and definitely deserves some love so it stays around for many years to come!

Today We got their Essex feta cheese, some goat cheddar, and a melty cheese for tuna melt I forgot the name but it was very creamy and light. We also got their loaded focaccia bread. Oh my it was so good. It had potato's, shredded cheese, and green onions. Their lunch/brunch food is always amazingly good

Made a quick stop in. Cute little shop and cafe attached to an art shop. Food was good. Next time I'll purchase some cheese.

This place is such a treat. Everything is hand crafted and it's an experience into the realm of fine cheeses incorporated with lunch familiarities. I enjoy this place so much.

What a well curated cheese and charcuterie shop! Superb selections, presentation and all the accompaniments you could ask for. Great vibe in the store. Also makes a perfect lunch spot with perfectly built sandwiches using their aforementioned products placed between some outstanding bread. Great place run by people who really get it.

Fromagios, known for being the cheese experts, also make killer sandwiches for lunch. Sometimes they do pop-ups at Double Shovel Cider Co. Fromagio's makes various cheesecakes and sweet treats for sale as well. I've ordered charcuterie from a few small local businesses, (millenials and their lunchables, am I right?!) And since I'll bet most of the smaller places get a lot of their cheese from Fromagios, I've always wanted to try their charcuterie. Most recently, I received a Love Day chocolate, cheese, and charcuterie box. It was ordered within hours of it being ready for pick-up. Fromagios definitely accommodates the procrastinators, and we appreciate them for that. The box was beautiful with a great mix of fresh, sweet, and savory items. I want to say it was my first time eating natural fig. Highly recommend.

Both are packed with flavor. Whether ordering in or ordering to go, keep in mind it takes quite a while--almost 10 to 15 mins--for the staff to make your sandwich, so I wouldn't recommend that you stop here in you're in a hurry because you're not going to get it out fast. In this case, call ahead about 30 mins or so if you're picking up. The prices are a little high, but it's worth the price for the quality of the food you're getting, which I can't say for most restaurants in the present era (2020s for those that are reading this in the 2030s and 2040s, if this platform still exists then lol!) Either way, the quality is HIGH and the flavor factor? HIGH! The Classic Piadina is very fresh tasting and comes with greens. It only comes in one size, so it's a little small for me. Still delicious! The Nonni is a pretty large sandwich, if you're getting the full sandwich. The onions combine with the meat enhances the flavors. The building that Originale is in presents itself as a very quaint and relaxed lunch spot with bright colors and large windows. It's a place you can go to sit and talk with friends. I look forward to trying more of their sandwiches.

I went with the "Favorito," and let's just say, it instantly earned its name. The prosciutto cotto was pure-savory-bliss-melt-in-your-mouth good. And the focaccia- fresh, herby, and perfectly balanced in thickness. It hugged the fillings just right without stealing the show. Also, the tomatoes- I did not expect them to be so buttery and delicious. I may have paused mid-bite to appreciate them. Yes, I'm that person. As a die-hard cheese lover, the little bonus cube of cheese on the side felt like a tiny gift--like the sandwich was giving me a wink and saying, "Hey, I see you." Originale, I'll be back. Best handmade pasta I have ever had!…read more Saying I'm a pasta aficionado is a gross understatement. My answer to the "if you could only eat one thing..." question has been pasta, for as long as I could vocalize that word. I've made my own at home. I've bought artisan, hand-cut pastas at markets all over the western US. I've brought back pasta from Italy. Never have I been so delighted with unsauced pasta as the moment I discovered La Grassa. Karl and Rebecca are the husband and wife team behind LG. They met in culinary school and did an intensive in Italy together, and they are clearly a match made in gastronomic heaven. Their vegan ravioli options are particularly incredible. I fell in love with La Grassa for their golden beet and goat cheese, but it was the charred kale and white bean vegan ravioli that brought a tear to my eye and currently tops my list of favorites. Those don't tickle your fancy? Not to worry. Every week, they have hand-cut spinach and regular noodles in three different thicknesses, strozzapretti, at least two kinds of ravioli that rotate regularly, and usually at least one other option - potato gnocchi, parmesan and kale gnoccheti, or some other delightful surprise. Stop by the Wednesday Market at the Sears Mall and pick up some ravioli. $8 for 6 oz - usually 8 or 9 pieces. I rarely have life-changing food adventures, but this is one of them. Don't miss out.

I was so taken by this handmade pasta that I started a yelp page for it. After my husband and I…read morerecently attempted to make ravioli and fettuccini by hand, I gained a whole new respect for the stuff. It tastes better fresh but is definitely labor intensive and time consuming. The ravioli I got was perfectly stuffed with roasted golden beets, tart goat cheese, and almonds. I ate it with a simple improvised pesto made of olive oil and Italian seasonings and it was grrreeeat. I haven't tried the spinach tagliatelle yet but I assume it will be equally delicious. There are directions in the bag saying how long to boil each variety. The guy who sold the pasta was the owner/chef (with his fiancé) and was really nice and passionate about his pasta. I recommend everyone go get some, then turn around and buy a dozen macaroons at sweet caribou. I will definitely go back for seconds!

I questioned the checker, who questioned another staff member nearby. They said the price charged was correct. Did I read the price card at the cooler wrong, I wondered. I had declined a receipt--I almost always do--so I dropped the sprouts off in my car, then walked back to check the posted price. That price was what I had remembered. I removed the price card to take it to the check stand. I hadn't really planned what to say, whether to ask for a partial refund so that I was paying the price marked, or what, but, turns out, Mr. Produce Man saw me taking the price card, and asked me what was up. I told him. He said probably they hadn't made new price cards to jibe with the register price yet, then he asked if I wanted a refund. I explained that I didn't have a receipt, so he asked if I wanted another package of the sprouts for FREE! I said yes, but I was uncomfortable walking out with merchandise I hadn't paid for. So he walked me to the door, chatting with me about how much and how fast his wholesale costs were rising. But I gotta say, his response put a smile on my face. He didn't want an unhappy customer. He wanted things to be right. Stand up dude. I'll go back.

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?
