While traveling a couple months ago we had Jersey Mike's with friends who frequent their local shop and it didn't disappoint. Needing takeout today while at work, I had an appointment on the south side and while looking for a sandwich shop, I was thrilled to see JMS nearby!!! They didn't disappoint! I showed up just after opening and was in and out in mere minutes!!! The interior is small, clean and tidy. Order placed for two subs and they were perfectly made! The staff was so kind and chatty, all of them polite and jovial, it was such a nice change of pace, especially after such a bummer of a visit to another sub shop last week that consistently provides poor service. I wouldn't hesitate to stop in for a sandwich and will probably plan to do so more than I normally would after such a nice experience. read more

Today I said I'm going to shake it up! I got the Super Sub, of course double meat, Mike's Way, onions, lettuce, tomato's, heavy pickles and the sauce a oil & vinegar add mayo but this time I saw a sub roll 'Rosemary Parm!' Hands down, the best sub in Alaska is from Jersey Mikes. A true Italian style sub made right. I must admit we always order double meat on the Super Sub on Rosemary Parmesan bread. Get it Mike's way add mayo and pickles. Reminds me of subs I ate on the East Coast as a teen. The subs are consistently good. The quality of the meat is outstanding, way better than that other franchise sub shop in town. The bread tastes super fresh and they are FAST, FAST. I'm in love. With the subs and Jersey Mike. Every single time I order, which is often, the subs are perfection. I don't mind paying $23 for a "giant" since it's basically 2 meals. All ingredients are fresh and high quality. From one location to another, the subs are always well made and delicious. Great job on this place for creating a high standard and maintaining consistency in quality and service. I am a big fan of the turkey and provolone, and roast beef. The BLT, chicken bacon ranch Philly, and regular Philly are excellent too. I don't think there is a bad sammich on this menu. read more

I came down here for lunch after finding out that Jersey Mike's recently opened in this small strip mall right next to the Carrs supermarket on Abbott Rd. I was eagerly looking forward to having a sub from Jersey Mike's as it has been years since I last had one when I was living in North Carolina in 2014. They have locations everywhere in the state and this place reminded me of my time in Raleigh before moving up here. I spoke to one of the members of the management team, a friendly guy who came here all the way from New Jersey. He thought this part of town had potential and he was correct. There are long lines during the lunch rush every day. The only thing that presents a problem for the restaurant is how small the place is. There are no tables and chairs for anyone to dine in and the restrooms are concealed from view because of the line snaking its way to the front counter. That didn't stop me from ordering one of my favorite subs, the Original Italian (all the meats you would associate with East Coast delis: ham, prosciuttini, salami, pepperoni, and cappacuolo...I think of the Sopranos every time I say this word), in a giant size on Rosemary Parmesan bread. All subs have an option to order Mike's Way which is a standard veggie lineup of onions, lettuce, tomatoes with a splash of vinegar, oil and seasonings. The employees were well-trained for the lunch rush and the line, although very long, was moving at a steady pace as each customer placed their order. I only had to wait a few minutes with a dozen people in front of me which was really impressive. The sandwich was everything I remembered about the North Carolina locations. Thinly sliced meats piled high with provolone and the same freshly baked bread to go with. The counter where they display the meats and cheese brings up images of the delis in New York, vacuum-sealed and labels that say 95% fat free on each package. The prices are higher than I would have liked but of course every business here in the state has to cover transportation costs for good quality meat like this. There is an app you can add to your smartphone that will give you points every time you order a sub with chips and a drink. The QPC code is listed on the front window next to the entrance door. Scan that and you will accumulate points for free subs in future purchases. You can also order online on the app or website and pick it up at the front counter without having to wait behind several people in line. This is a welcome addition for a town that badly needs more lower 48 franchises to reinvigorate the dreary dining scene here in Anchorage. I am not normally a person who complains, but this bothered me all weekend. I woke up Friday morning thinking about a Tiktok I saw of people eating the Jersey Mike's sub in a tub. So I ordered it. Normally, I would use Door dash. However, they didn't offer the pepper Relish. So I went to the app, and they had what I wanted. A # 6 ,Mike's way no oil no salt and 2 side of Chipotle mayo I was excited to place my order to be delivered at 11 when my eating window opening Oh, did I mention I was intermittent fasting. When the dasher got there, he was told it was all ready picked up. So he called me to check if he received my order. I had not. He told the manager and was told oh well. He was not going to remake it. I was so surprised. He had empathy for my order being taken. And no desire to make it right. Their inconsistency in the way they make their subs and their customer service is getting worse. I ordered a giant sub with extra meat and extra mushrooms. I received two 6-inch subs put together, each with different bread and no extra meat and mushrooms. When i brought it back the person argued with me and said the only thing wrong was the bread. I've ordered this sandwich since they opened and as soon as I grabbed the bag I knew I didn't get any of the extras. It's a good thing I opened and looked at it before I left. Let me start with a positive - I love the quality of the ingredients that these sandwiches have. Now for the negative - I will NEVER again order a sub from JM's unless I can stand there and watch them make my sub, which will most likely be never. Three times now, once in Eagle River and twice in Anchorage, I've ordered through their app, to be delivered, a Club Sub on white bread, extra meat, no bacon, tomato, or mayo. Doesn't sound difficult, right? Apparently it is because three times (in a row, I might add) I received a Club Sub on rosemary bread, without extra meat, but with bacon & mayo! Each time I call the store & they refuse to make it right. Once they even told me they KNEW they put it on the wrong bread but they were out of white at the time. They said they couldn't deliver the correct sandwich to me because it was delivered by Door Dash, even though it was ordered through the JM app. When I called the Eagle River store I told them I wanted a refund, which they said they would do but never did. I thought maybe JM corporate would be more willing to fix this, but they never acknowledged or answered the two complaints I filed. So....Jersey Mike's, third time is enough. You have lost a customer who has spent $919.77 since January of 2024. I'll not give you the opportunity to take advantage again. read more
