Those barrria burritos, what can I say? SPECIAL....I did ask for it dipped AND bought an extra side of sauce. This is like the MEXICAN "FRENCH" Dip. The ingredients were quality and plentiful. FRESH and TASTY. Highly Recommend, even if a bit pricier than the competition. I did take out and they were pretty fast. read more

If you're going to offer an online order ahead service then you should pay attention to the actual orders. This is the 2nd time it has happened at this location. Order hadn't even been started. This restaurant is not reliable and you should consider giving your hard earned money elsewhere. I know I am. read more

I usually love this place, but tonight it wasn't that good. We got the carne asada burritos and it tasted like the meat was old and rewarmed in the microwave and rice was mushy. It didn't have that fresh off the grill taste like first time we've been there. Sorry Xalos, don't think I'll be back. Plus side, is that they're very friendly and fast. read more

Love this spot! Haven't been here before but I love the freshness of the garnishes they use and the tacos are extra savory and the aroma of the spices are fantastic. Great selection of food for the price! Plus portions are perfect! Service is fast and friendly. Order up at the front. Have a seat and you'll be served your food. I really like this place, but I have many a-typical opinions about burritos, so take what I say with a grain of salt. This is kind of like a hybrid between a place like Serrano's and a "mission-style burrito chain" (think: Chipotle, Qdoba, etc). Where it's different than the chains is that you don't pick out all your ingredients, Subway-style. You choose from a menu of burritos with pre-populated ingredient bundles. Ya'll indecisive types are probably delighted by this. (you know who you are, you take 20 seconds to decide if you want pickles on your sub or not...HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW?!) Me. I know what I want. When I want it, and how I like it given to me. So, I wish I had more ingredient control. I ended up getting a fajita burrito. It was massive AND it came with chips. They have a wide selection of house made sauces too, which is very much appreciated. Nothing more depressing than a Mexican place with a mild house salsa and a bottle of tapatio and...that's it. Them's the only two options. It was tasty, but I find the burritos at the chains I mentioned above often have a fresher taste. Also, the ramekins for sauces are way, way too tiny. It's impossible to dip a chip in them without breaking the chip. read more

Honestly Xalos kicks it up to another level. Ended up going for late lunch and was not disappointed. Very quick and easy lunch stop. Ended up getting the quest Birria tacos. I would say they do them better than most the places here. Very juicy and flavorful. If you don't want to get messy then I would not recommend. Also get chips and salsa. They also do better chips and salsa then most places. Would definitely go back for more. read more

For 8.95 I got the Tortilla Soup and OMG it was so good. It had avocado, zucchini, cheese, chicken, chips, cilantro and a fantastic savory broth. Also got the best Horchata I've ever had. Approaching the front door, I see a sign requiring mask entering the building. No problem. As I enter, I see another sign requiring customers to sanitize hands before moving further. No problem. While waiting to order. The cashier was taking an order over the phone. No problem. But I can't help but notice how disgusting their cashier was. While she was on the phone, she had her mask down (this part doesn't bother me)... but she kept on nibbling her fingers. The same fingers she types on their tablet. She does it too many times. She continues to nibble on her thumb and index fingers. Disgusting. I could not stomach the idea of furthering my order at this point. I had to leave. To the owner, I hope you're reading this. I'm surprised at how good this place is. This was my first time trying it. The burritos are huge. Enormous! The quality of the meat was surprisingly good too. Normally in a chain you have to really pick and choose wisely, because there's no telling if it was pulled from a bag and rehydrated with water. The food is actually exceptional. The service could use a little work. My first visit, my order was wrong and we didn't get all of it. When we went back for the second time hoping it was a fluke, the order was wrong again. Luckily we ate there so we got the problem fixed. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very nice, although could be more attentive. I've got no issues with food. It had been awhile since my hubs and I had been to Xalos. We had to do a quick Target run and we're both hungry so we went to Xalos. He didn't remember the last time we were there and all I remembered was the food was good. I had the Pollo Aso plate and he had the Birria plate. We each got a drink and we split the queso and chips. The total was close to $50 without tip. The food came out hot and fast. Hubs wiped his plate clean, I took half of mine home and we were both fully sated. Really tasty food. read more

This place reminds me of my childhood spent on the river walk in San Antonio with my grandma! The artwork, the ambiance, the smell of spices on the air! #happyplace It's Taco Tuesday everyday! A bit pricey for the seafood options, but still deeelious! Also they have a healthy option of making your burrito "barefoot" - basically, no tortilla. And if you order soup, it'll come out a little later than the taco/burrito orders - believe me it's worth the wait. The only complaint I have of their soups is the menudo does not have hominy. It must be a regional thing, but grandma made it with hominy and it's just weird not having in my menudo. Overall, the soups are large portions, reasonable price for their size, and full of flavor - NOMS! FYI- download their app and you can get free soda after scanning the QR code at the counter twice and there's a frequent buyer "punch card" with a $10 reward afterwards. :) read more

Very nice staff, but my (ex) boyfriend and I were told that they were out of ground beef when we ordered so I asked for steak instead. The price went up and they charged my (ex) boyfriend over $30. When we left the restaurant and opened our boxes, I saw GROUND BEEF on my nachos. I though they didn't have any! I showed my (ex) boyfriend and he said, "so I just paid an unnecessary amount of money?" I agreed with him and ended up giving him some money since we couldn't get a refund. Way to trick us into paying more, and neither of us were pleased! Luckily, I just remembered that I posted this on Google and it was from March 2020. I'm willing to give this place another chance since it was at the start of the pandemic. read more

Really great fast food. Very comparable to Taco Del Mar which brings me a lot of happiness. My husband and I both got the burrito con queso. He had ground beef and I had shredded beef. So delicious. We loved the salsa bar. The flavor overall was great. Only downside to my burrito was that it was a bit too liquidy. Nothing a little time in the fridge wont fix. My biggest suggestion would be to wrap the burritos tighter and maybe add a bit more rice so when you do have so many wet ingredients that it wont be a liquidy mess. Restaurant was clean. Staff was very friendly and they clearly really care about your satisfaction. Cant wait to come back here!! read more

My wife has been bothering me to stop by this place since she saw it was opened a few weeks back. So, being a huge fan of Mexican, we finally decided to stop in for dinner the other night with our son. I was not overly impressed. It reminded me of a scaled down version of Qdoba. The quality of ingredients were similar to what you would get in a fast food establishment such as Taco Bell. I ordered the fajita burrito and it was very average at best. Combined with the lack of urgency in customer service left a very mediocre taste in my mouth, literally. Overall, very disappointing but not the worst Mexican I have ever had. read more

Such happy thoughts when I think about this place. As a vegetarian, it is SO hard to find decent veggie options. This place has a large menu that consists of both meat AND veggie items. My husband and I each ordered the veggie burrito, and we ordered a side of rice & beans for our toddler. I believe we spent around $30 with tip included. Not bad for Anchorage. The veggie burritos were awesome! There were actual veggies in it, not just tofu or too much rice. The pinto beans were flavorful, the rice was a perfect texture, and there was also guacamole, cheese, zucchini, carrots, and other veggies. So delicious and massive! The side of rice and beans was also amazing. The flavor of the rice and beans was spot on. I could hardly believe I was ordering this food from an express burrito spot in Alaska. I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, we went back 2 days later for takeout. I highly recommend Xalos Burrito Express. I know I can't wait until I can have it again. And again. read more

This is really good fast food! I can't believe I waited so long to check it out. The offerings are all so tasty, from the different meat fillings (the carnitas are my favorite, followed by the carne asada) to the fresh veggies. They have a nice oniony pico de gallo, too. I've only tried the burritos, huge as is the style now. I like that because then I have two meals. The salsa bar is excellent! Gotta have that restaurant style sauce, chunky and with some good heat that's not overwhelming. The staff are so helpful and always have a pleasant attitude. I appreciate that. And I love the decor! So vibrant, creative, and nice enough to feel like you're not at a fast food place if you decide to eat in. Lightning Fast Service and Delicious Breakfasts! We…read morestopped by for a midmorning breakfast and were delighted by both the service and the food. Within 20 minutes of walking in, we were seated, served coffee and water, placed our order, and received our meals. We enjoyed classic breakfast favorites--fried eggs, patty sausage, biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage--and the lightest, fluffiest, most perfectly prepared Belgian waffle. The experience was so impressive that we returned the next day to see whether it had been a fluke; it was not. The staff was just as friendly and efficient, and while the breakfast sandwich we added was delicious, I couldn't resist ordering another heavenly waffle. I strolled by the kitchen, a couple of times, to try and look to see what magic they were performing in the background, but their secret sauce is the people who work there! So close to the airport, great staff, even better breakfasts and a must stop for breakfast on your way to or from the airport.

I'll preface this by saying that I've heard plenty of good things about Heidi's food, portions and…read morecleanliness. So I really wanted this to become a regular spot for me. Unfortunately, after trying two weekends in a row, I'm giving up. I completely understand that weekend breakfast/brunch is going to be busy. Waiting isn't the issue. The check-in and seating process is just incredibly disorganized. Both visits I put my name on the waitlist. The first time, I specifically asked if I could take one of two open seats at the bar and was told I still needed to join the waitlist. I did, but guests who arrived after me were eventually seated at the bar ahead of me. The second weekend, essentially the same thing happened again. There also doesn't seem to be a clear way to tell who is actually waiting versus who has just arrived. Meanwhile, I watched larger tables that had been pushed together for bigger parties remain together after those parties left, then get reset and used for smaller groups rather than being separated again. That's a lot of usable seating sitting unnecessarily occupied when you have a lobby full of people waiting. When I asked the host during my first visit why someone behind me on the waitlist had been given the bar seat I'd originally asked about, I received an apology but no real explanation or resolution. On the positive side, after spending plenty of time waiting on both visits, I can certainly confirm what others have said about the restaurant being clean and the portions looking generous coming out of the kitchen looke I genuinely wanted to try Heidi's, and I still think it may be worth visiting during slower hours. But after two consecutive weekend experiences with the same seating issues, the problem feels less like "they were busy today" and more like a process that needs some attention. Unfortunately, that's enough for me to stop trying for now.

However, the vegetarian menu is the reason why I chose Oasis over many others around Anchorage when I arrived. Many restaurants' vegetarian/vegan options are limited consisting of bar foods like vegan burgers, French fries, salads and fried pickles that are high in salt and greasy high fats. This place is completely different; for instance, the bowls and wraps section, which you can customize with optional brown rice, quinoa, flatbread, or tortilla. I chose the Vegan High-Protein bowl and quinoa. The tofu was soft and flavorful, and the hummus was perfectly complementary. The star was the in-house salad dressing, which I can't remember what was in it and what its name was, but it was green, tangy and phenomenal. The food was so good that I returned on Saturday, and there was no drop-off in flavor and service. There were 6 other people in the room. The menu was well laid out and had great options for the meat challenged. We ordered our lunch at 1130. We were served water and then we waited... and waited. At 1230, we debated on leaving when I finally asked the hostess if she knew how much longer it would be, her response was curt and short, "they just started it." We thought it was odd that with so few in the room, the meal was just started nearly an hour after ordering. At 1250 the meal arrived. We had ordered the protein plate, a Thai salad and a turkey sandwich. The protein plate had an unseasoned burger patty that was crispy on the outside and raw on the inside and the steamed vegetables were barely cooked with the carrots still having the peels on them, the Thai plate had zero sauce. The turkey sandwich was exceptional, I opted for no cheese and added avocado. At 115, I went to the counter and the hostess looked very weary and asked what I wanted when the phone rang. She picked it up and immediately hung it back up without answering, then took the receiver off the phone. I said I would like to pay my bill. At this point, the hostess turned to the waiter who had been waiting on us saying, "these are yours." Three meals, only the sandwich was edible, came to $75. Wow. We were hoping that someone was just having a bad day, but seeing other reviews, our experience was similar to others. Will not be going back.

Maybe more spice, or more kimchi? Bacon? I couldn't tell what it was that was missing but I've tried many versions of this in Hawaii and it was blander than those. The Kalbi beef wasn't ribs! I was disappointed, it was just like shaved beef. Egg was good. Everything not bad, but in my opinion could have been better. Husband tried the kimchirito, or kimchi burrito. He said it was fine, enjoyed it but won't seek it out again due to the off-the-wall fusion of flavors. He did say it was nice to be able to sit at the bar and have a cold beer while he waited for our take out order. Our child tried an order of gyoza which were great! She also liked the seasoned tater tots that came with her dad's burrito. Might come back to try the actual Kalbi rib plate.

Always look at newest reviews!!!…read more We saw the 4.4 red stars and thought this was gona be an amazing place. The first red flag was 1pm on week day and there was only 3 parties in the place. The one and only server was very nice, but being the only one, twice when new parties entered he would walk away. Wife ordered chicken katsu rice plate. The overall theme is everything is bland. EVERYTHING.. Her cabbage slaw/salad had a white creamy sauce, my best guess is mayo mixed with ranch but only if both was every kind of free there is, fat, sugar, carb, keto, and most importantly, taste FREE. Her rice was purple, there were purple chunks, not sure if it was potato, the rice was mushy, wet, and Bland. Her kutsu sauce was made from the same everything free ingredients. Come on man, Kutsu sauce is 3 ingredients and all three are bold flavors, how do you mess that up. But ok, they want to be fusion, maybe add some cilantro or chili. She asked for soy sauce and salt to try and add some flavor. Half way through she has me hold out my hand and pours a handful of the "salt" from the shaker. It was not salt granules, almost looked like a salt substitute. I honestly don't know what it was but when I tasted it I would be extremely generous by saying I got a 25% salt flavor. Normally, you put 2-4 tablespoons of salt in your hand and lick your finger, when you taste that, you get a powerful punch in the mouth of dam, that's salty. I was dumbfounded, if they are using that "salt" to cook with them makes since why everything is so bland. I don't want to repeat the Bland Bland Bland theme over and over. I had bulgogi, kutsu, and BBQ chicken tacos. I will skip to the end- yep, you guessed it, Bland. We did have the bulgogi egg roll, I do want to touch on this only because I was so mad at myself once we left I dug Into the reviews. These are one of the most positive commented items, BUT those comments are from over a year ago. Overall, 11$ for two small egg rolls cut in half is ridiculous. Then if you bite/taste just the egg roll, there is a 5% taste of bulgogi sauce. Which again is so explosive of a sauce. But, If you drown the egg roll in the creamy mild sriracha sauce then the egg roll is ok. If you forget what it should taste like and just concentrate on how did they make the sauce with no heat, then you could get at least a 2-2.5 star. Server deserves 5 stars, Food deserves 2 stars.
