Love this spot! Haven't been here before but I love the freshness of the garnishes they use and the tacos are extra savory and the aroma of the spices are fantastic. Great selection of food for the price! Plus portions are perfect! Service is fast and friendly. Order up at the front. Have a seat and you'll be served your food. There's a beautiful view if you choose to eat outside where there are seats/tables. Peep the majestic mountains as you indulge in some tacos!

I really like this place, but I have many a-typical opinions about burritos, so take what I say with a grain of salt. This is kind of like a hybrid between a place like Serrano's and a "mission-style burrito chain" (think: Chipotle, Qdoba, etc). Where it's different than the chains is that you don't pick out all your ingredients, Subway-style. You choose from a menu of burritos with pre-populated ingredient bundles. Ya'll indecisive types are probably delighted by this. (you know who you are, you take 20 seconds to decide if you want pickles on your sub or not...HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW?!) Me. I know what I want. When I want it, and how I like it given to me. So, I wish I had more ingredient control. I ended up getting a fajita burrito. It was massive AND it came with chips. They have a wide selection of house made sauces too, which is very much appreciated. Nothing more depressing than a Mexican place with a mild house salsa and a bottle of tapatio and...that's it. Them's the only two options. It was tasty, but I find the burritos at the chains I mentioned above often have a fresher taste. Also, the ramekins for sauces are way, way too tiny. It's impossible to dip a chip in them without breaking the chip.

Best Birria tacos in Anchorage! The staff were very helpful and everything inside was remodeled and clean! 10/10 for a restaurant in anchorage.

I was surprised how nice it is inside. Even though it isnt full service, it's really pretty. Order at the counter, pay and they bring it to you. It's not cheap though, dont expect Taco King prices. For 8.95 I got the Tortilla Soup and OMG it was so good. It had avocado, zucchini, cheese, chicken, chips, cilantro and a fantastic savory broth. Also got the best Horchata I've ever had. The fam got some kind of crazy breakfast burrito and they loved it.

Approaching the front door, I see a sign requiring mask entering the building. No problem. As I enter, I see another sign requiring customers to sanitize hands before moving further. No problem. While waiting to order. The cashier was taking an order over the phone. No problem. But I can't help but notice how disgusting their cashier was. While she was on the phone, she had her mask down (this part doesn't bother me)... but she kept on nibbling her fingers. The same fingers she types on their tablet. She does it too many times. She continues to nibble on her thumb and index fingers. Disgusting. I could not stomach the idea of furthering my order at this point. I had to leave. To the owner, I hope you're reading this. Please talk to your cashier on 08.19.21 4:50pm.

Honestly Xalos kicks it up to another level. Ended up going for late lunch and was not disappointed. Very quick and easy lunch stop. Ended up getting the quest Birria tacos. I would say they do them better than most the places here. Very juicy and flavorful. If you don't want to get messy then I would not recommend. Also get chips and salsa. They also do better chips and salsa then most places. Would definitely go back for more.

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

In addition, the margarita was all ice, and tasted like your typical Jose Cuervo margarita. The calamari was good and fairly thick, enjoyed by everyone. The seafood pasta had a good flavor and loaded with seafood, truly the one meal I enjoyed. The fish and chips had 3 large portions of halibut, with a heavy fried batter, and average fries. It didn't taste better than your average fish and chips, and I'm glad I didn't personally order this dish. The kids chicken and rice had a surprisingly large amount of chicken with bland rice. The scallop risotto, just simply wasn't very good, it wasn't bland, but the flavor was lacking, and of the 3 that tried it, no one ate much. The kids dessert was called house made sorbet, and my kiddos were so excited to eat it. They tried one bite and almost cried, he said it tasted like broccoli, and I laughed and tried it myself...no kidding, this tasted like broccoli!! It was absolutely awful, like one of those gag jelly beans. I was expecting a high bill, but the hidden charges at the end really added to our disappointment. I regret coming here

Unfortunate that this is the day I decided it was about time I left a review for House Of Bread…read more House of Bread is a lovely space, airy light dining room, and lots of baked goods, and artisanal-looking jarred goods. It feels very open. They have a menu on the wall, and a chalkboard with the types of bread available that day. Husband orders cheesy broccoli soup, and she tells him "it's not really cheesy broccoli soup, it's got lots of veggies in it too" ok, he says, but still orders a bowl. I choose Tuna Salad, and I select 14 grain as my bread choice - "sorry, we're out of that", so I then choose 9 grain - "sorry, we're out of that", and so I ask for marbled rye - "sorry, we're out of that too" I'm really quite surprised, as it's 12.30 like prime lunch time, and they're out of 3 breads already? Maybe cross them off your chalkboard, so you don't have to keep disappointing people. So i choose focaccia with my fingers crossed, and all was well. The order was complete at 12.36. We sit. We wait. Twiddling our fingers. By 20 minutes I'm becoming impatient, because I'm hangry, and the dining room is not that full - maybe 5 tables. As there are 4 staff working behind the counter (could be more round the back in the bakery) I think service could be faster, to dish up a bowl of premade soup, and assemble a cold tuna salad sandwich. Anyway i get my eye on the young man making sandwiches. He's not wearing gloves, is running his fingers through his hair, and touching his face. I see a sandwich that was on the top of the shelf, and it either fell, or he threw it, onto presumably a bench below, and then reach up angrily for a new bag of bread, I don't know - maybe he made it wrong, and was starting over. By 1.02, (26 minutes later) husband could take it no more and went to get a refund. This is not the review I expected to be leaving today, as I've never had service like this here before. I've never gone here before and had to choose my bread 4 times, due to them running out. I've never had to wait so long for lunch using pre-made ingredients. I don't know what was going on, but it's nothing like all the other times we've been here, and I hope it's a one off. If I go back and see the same staff, I'll just walk straight out again and avoid another experience like this one.

My friend wanted to stop by on her way from work & I remembered how impressed I was back in the Fall. I don't know what happened between then and now but I won't be going back. I looked up and saw the younger girl with multi-colored hair glaring at us while the older girl with colored hair was stacking chairs on tables. Google said they closed at 6pm, so I'm assuming she was mad we were interrupting their pre-close. After seeing the flattest "brownies", flatter than a cookie, the soggy zucchini bread with no date on the wrapper, the glare from the young girl behind the register and not one single "Hi" from the 3 employees working, ( the 3rd one was eating a sandwich behind the counter), I decided not to buy a single thing & not to ever come back. My friend bought 4 items & the glaring girl only spoke when she said the total, not even a "Would you like a bag?", "Thank You", "Enjoy your bread" or "Have a good night." Too bad. My friend & I were looking forward to having a coffee & snack & catching up after work.

I was happy to see halibut as the fish for their fish & chips, as it is often cod or other white fish. I find halibut to be the best. They also have a few dishes with nods to Korean and Thai flavors. There are pizzas and dinner salads too. I went with their bacon jam burger for dinner. It is cooked to your liking and has a grilled apple, cambozola, bacon jam, arugula & house mayo. This is the best burger I've had in a long time. The flavors complement each other so well. If you are a fan of bleu cheese you will really love the cambozola. It is creamy and oozy and is amazing on a burger. My spouse tried their Cuban sandwich and didn't like that the pickles were mediocre and didn't add to the overall flavors, and that the bread wasn't crisped or toasted in any way -- the way Cubans traditionally are. He also took a chance with a appetizer off the specials menu which he imaged was Brussels sprouts however it was shaved sautéed Brussels sprout leaves, over warm couscous with lots of fresh herbs, jalapeños, and heavily spiced with bold spices like fennel. It was bizarre and not like anything we've ever tried. We liked some of the flavors but all together didn't make sense to us so we sent it back, unfortunately. Our child tried the Mac and cheese that came with purple grapes and sorbet. The Mac and cheese was good although I'd advise SRH to try a larger noodle than a small shell so kids can stab it better and get it in their little mouths. The sorbet must be seasonal/rotating bc it was cinnamon honey pear and it was crazy delicious. I'd come back for just the sorbet tbh. Other than that our red-haired bespectacled server was fairly attentive and quite friendly, even on a very busy Friday dinner rush. Parking lot just outside seems easy enough as long as you can grab a spot at busy times. Will be back in the future for the fried halibut (and sorbet!).
