Little Dipper Diner was one of the few places open on New Year's Day so we stopped in for lunch. It wasn't too full, and they didn't look understaffed, but it took awhile to get our order taken after being seated. I landed on the biscuits and gravy and added overeasy eggs. Despite the slow start, our food came out quickly and was pretty good. Definitely comfort food so not the healthiest. I wouldn't count LDD as one of my top choices but would return to give them another chance.

Delicious breakfast! I would absolutely eat here again. The breakfast bagel sandwich was so good. I could only eat half because the portion of home fries was huge. Husband had the chicken fried steak and grits; he loved it and also took half home. We ordered 1 piece of French toast for our breakfast dessert - yum! We had wonderful service. We sat on the side with arcade games but the other side is like a normal diner.

Cute diner with Coca Cola themed interior. Large portions and fun games on the other side of the room. Good for a hearty brunch.

This is a beautiful little tucked away spot. Didn't know it was here but so glad we found it. my wife is getting her hair done at MisFits and we stopped in. Has an arcade and kids cartoon theater is super cool. Full of cocaCola memorabilia, good portions are huge def enough for 2 people per plate. Highly recommend

Located in a strip mall. There was a short wait on a Sunday morning - but not bad really. Hubby got the corned beef hash, eggs and tater tots, I got the BLT with onion rings. We were right near the kitchen and I could see when my order was up - and it unfortunately sat there for about 7 mins before it was served, so the onion rings were on their way to cold when i finally got them. BLT was pretty good though. Star of the show was the tater tots, they were served piping hot and maybe are homemade (or some better version than in your grocer's freezer). I think the corned beef hash was canned, but was salty and hit a good breakfast spot in my tummy.

Little Dipper has to be one of my top favorite breakfast spots in Anchorage. Family-owned spot with amazing staff that remember returning guests and create the homie ambiance that this place resonates. Their cooking is spot on and coffee is always being offered and never missing at your table! They even have a small arcade on one side of the restaurant to keep the little ones (and not so little ones) entertained. We stayed in anchorage for 10 days and returning to Little Dipper was never a question.

Located in the corner of a strip mall, this little hole in the wall diner can be easily missed. But I'm telling you guys - you DONT want to miss it! We ended up going on a Saturday at 1130ish and The seating is limited, but worth the wait! It only took us only 15 minutes to be seated with a swarm of people in front of us, gave us time to catch up tho. We went with friends EVERYONE got good food. Since Im an Uber early riser it was lunch time for me. I got a French dip, with an over easy egg on it. Nothing to write home about, but it was good in the same. Tater tots are always good, just make them extra crunch && there is nothing to gripe about. The husband got the Philly cheese steak omelet. I did take a bite and it was quite good (tried to avoid the godly amount of cheese) *lactose here* but he loved it! Our friends got the 2x2x2 pancake, sausage links and eggs. She was pleased && her husband ordered the country fried steak scramble, as you can see mountains with delish country gravy. That was, I think, the highlight of the meal. Super pleased over all with EVERYTHING. They are a well oiled machine. Even when they were busy, a couple of our toast got misplaced, but it was right out in a jiffy once we mentioned it. Never let the old time diner vibe die! This place is a must go!

Anyway, second time is the charm I guess. So the Halibut sandwich was good, flavor was good, the fish was tender and flaky, my server made a mistake and substituted the "American" cheese for Swiss but I loved it! LOL! Seriously made the sandwich taste better. I didn't eat the bun because to be brutally honest as I always am, the bun was of cheap, stale and poor quality, it was barely toasted and not buttered? Fail! The bun on my cheese burger was the same way. The burger itself was cooked perfectly medium well but it was a premade obviously Sysco quality burger which was poorly seasoned which was made more evident by the stale, cheap, poor quality bun. They did have Coke Zero which made me feel a little better. Also at the end of my meal I ended up having to get up from my table and go pay for my food since my server hadn't returned in 15 minutes after clearing my dirty dishes. I don't feel like I will return to this place as there are much better options in the area. The ambiance always feels like I'm in an IHOP at 3am for some reason..

As yet, I have still not sat on one of the counter stools, but they are there! Just like on tv! And I, who has lived here now for almost 14 years feel such pride in our beautiful shiny diner, which in my humble opinion, is better than any I saw on tv, because it's metal. I challenge any movie maker (pfft, like that gonna happen) who might be planning a movie based in Alaska, and needing a 50's style diner, to find anything so beautifully retro, even in the Lower 48, and probably needing very little styling to make it meet their vintage needs. It has booths, it has counter stools, it has a lovely floor, great art on the walls. Anyway, I digress. We've been coming here for years, ever since it was still called City Diner. They have a good, large, wide ranging menu, covering breakfasts lunches and dinners. I've never had anything bad here. Service is great, and you're almost always seated immediately. It's always busy, but never seems chaotic if you catch my drift. I love that if you order a soda, they bring out the soda, as well as a jug full of said soda, so you can have top ups. Not that I drink loads of soda, I just think it's a nice touch. Today I got a BLT, husband got the Lika chicken wrap, I got fries with mine, and he got tots. We both got coffee, in a good old fashioned diner mug. They are always THAT style of mug, you know the one I mean, kinda got a slim waist, unlike myself. Food came out unbelievably quickly, I was gonna give 4 stars, but I just changed it to 5, cos you know what? Yeah, it's not fine dining, or an amazing dining room, linen tablecloths etc, but it is exceptional for what it is. So it's a 5 star diner. My BLT. Can I just say, this is the best BLT I've had in quite a while, and I get them a lot. Bacon was plentiful and the exact right crispiness, lettuce was fresh, not limp, tomato sliced decently thickly, and I'd normally pick it out, as I find it bland, and doesn't really enhance the sandwich for me, but I ate every bit of it. That bacon man, it was so good. So flavorful. The fries too, crisp and hot. He got that chicken wrap based on my recommendation, as I'd had it on my previous visit. He said it was moist and juicy, and he ate it all. The coffee's very good too. I don't drink a lot of coffee, but our server came round offering refills which I didn't have, but not because it didn't taste good. The worst thing I can say about this place is, I find it difficult to choose what I want to eat, as they have some very desirable options. bathrooms are very clean, and echo the 50's diner style, with the same flooring as throughout the dining room, and black and white tiling on the walls. Often some places dining rooms might be clean, but then the bathrooms are not kept clean - almost an afterthought. I'll continue to frequent Sami's diner, it's one of my go-to lunch spots.

We topped off the meal with milkshakes and homemade pie, which were the perfect sweet ending. I do think some of the items were on the pricier side for what you are receiving as well as considering it's a student run lab, and not an operating restaurant. Although the restaurant is in more of a cafeteria setting thru do a very nice job of making it feel more high end with their table settings & fresh florals. The students are also dressed very professionally, and the menu is a great selection of higher end items. My favorite part of the meal were the desserts (Lady Palmer & Black cherry chocolate cake). They were exemplary quality, and I feel were restaurant ready. For our entrees I ordered the duck breast, and black cod. I really enjoyed the basil & pea puree that came with the cod, and for the duck breast I thought it was seasoned well though I would've preferred it a little less well done. For appetizers I ordered prawn fritters & a bread plate. I really enjoyed the different components of the bread plate; my favorite being the whipped honey feta. The fritters were tasty, but I wish they had more prawn pieces in them. This restaurant is a learning experience for the students so you should not go into this meal expecting 5 star perfection, but it's a great way to get involved in helping to educate the culinary students in a real life setting. The meal includes comment cards that they ask you fill out, which will really help the students improve. Lucy's was a very fun & unique experience, and I hope to be able to get a reservation again next year!
