I gave this restaurant a 5 star previously after coming here for breakfast. Came today for lunch and we both had burgers and fries. Not a good choice! The burgers looked and tasted like frozen low quality, bulk-packaged patties. They were dry and tasteless. Fries were warm but not hot. Like last visit, it was extremely noisy. The waitresses load carts with dirty dishes right next to the tables with LOTS of loud clanging & clattering. Probably won't be back. read more

The Restaurant Jackie's Place on Spenard was one of the worst by far experiences weve had, we walked in and the sign said to seat ourselves so we did, first a young girl came up to us and asked us how we were doing and gave us our menus, then a few minutes later a little bit older girl came and said that she would be our waitress & asked us what we would like to drink we both asked for coffee she brought it out to us and said are u ready to order we both said not yet, and as I was finishing up my emails on my phone a much older lady with blonde hair came up and asked if we were ready to order yet and as I was telling her that we were not ready just yet she snatched my friends menu out of her hands and was reaching for mine I pulled it away and said excuse u that was totally disrespectful & uncalled for, and she said I know u and ur kind of people & u just came in to drink our coffee as she was giving us mean dirty looks put our coffee bill on the table like she already assumed thats all we were going to have and walked away, I then asked for the young lady whom said she was going to be our original waitress as she was being told we wanted to talk to her she looked over at our table gave us a dirty look walked the opposite direction and went to help other customers, the much younger girl came back out and said "I told ur waitress and she said she will come over when she can", then the older lady came back out and asked us how we would be paying I told her im waiting to speak with our waitress because what u did was very inappropriate and disrespectful she said well im ur waitress now and also the owner so u guys need to leave, I then asked her what her reasoning was for doing what she did and who was to say we wernt going to order food she looked over at my friend and said did u want to order something and I said what makes u think she is going to want to order now after u just did what u did to her she then got aggressive and started pulling things off of our table started raising her voice and said this is not a place for u and ur kind and u people need to leave I said we will gladly so we got up and left. Aaron's Omelette- had reindeer but tasted kind of rubbery??? They make the eggs and throw the stuff on top of them. After 5 consecutive orders, the quality and value of the entrees and the consistency towards customer service in completing orders with excellence is noticed and appreciated. It's incredibly obvious that no matter whether you are seated in the restaurant, ordering to go, or to go via DoorDash, that completing your transaction with total integrity is always their goal. Eggs have been cooked to order and perfection. Bacon, perfect every time. Sausage and meat sides, always excellent. You didn't hear it here first, but they do need to cook the hashbrowns a little longer. While still plenty well done, I imagine they'd rather not risk overdone and unfortunately I think they come out a bit underdone for some. Literally nothing is over salted and you may want more. I'd rather have the choice to add salt than be salty in my comments. This place was a great find! The decor was simple but warm, typical diner design, but in a good way. The food didn't look super appetizing to be honest but it was very good! We got some omelette and Hawaiian French toast. The omelette was delicious! It wasn't greasy and the well-selected combination of ingredients elevated the taste. The Hawaiian French Toast was quite amazing. It was soft, buttery and the right amount of sweetness. Unlike many places that loads sugar on the French toast to make them taste good(and usually achieved the opposite effect), the sweetness of this French toast was an icing on top. I came down here during my lunch break a couple of weeks ago on a whim and I made it my mission to support as many local businesses as I can while the dine-in lockdowns were in effect for 4 weeks ending tomorrow. Jackie's Place is a longtime old-school diner establishment on Spenard in a small, nondescript shopping plaza which also houses Momma O's Seafood on the opposite end and across the street from the Bear Tooth Theatrepub. They are currently open for pickup orders and you can find a full menu on their website with a phone number to contact them for breakfast or lunch. Their menu items are what you would normally find in a diner like pancakes, omelets, burgers, and sandwiches. However, they have added more healthier options to their menu as of late. I ordered the seasoned Chicken Breast plate with steamed broccoli and brown rice. This was one of the better meals I've had recently with the chicken perfectly seasoned, the broccoli tender, and the brown rice moist and not dry. A lot of places that serve brown rice usually come out dry but the kitchen added the right amount of water for a softer texture you would usually associate with white rice. Other healthier options include the Tuna or Turkey Salad Bowl (asparagus, tomato wedges, pickles, hard-boiled eggs, and black olives), the Grilled Chicken Salad Bowl (cheese, tomato, and bacon bits), and Lou's Favorite (hamburger steak, cottage cheese, peaches, pickles, and tomato slices). The owner is a very nice lady who knows everyone by their first name and her earnest nature compelled me to come back and try their other dishes to keep her business going. read more

Ordered from this Spenard staple via Doordash for brunch. Our food was delivered on time, thoughtfully plated, securely packaged, and complete with silverware and condiments. We ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with toast and hash browns, the hamburger steak with peppers, onions, eggs, brown gravy and house fries. Next, was the Hawaiian french toast with eggs and Portuguese sausage. Lastly, we got the big cinnamon roll and yogurt parfait. Everything was cooked thoroughly and seasoned well. We were given plenty of salt and pepper packets, just in case. The hamburger steak was noticeably tender, not tough and rubbery as hamburger patties can be, in meals like these. The cost of the chicken fried steak meal was noticeably high compared to other places we frequent. The delicious cinnamon roll reminded me of the one for purchase at Kriners Diner. The Hawaiian French toast left much to be desired. The bread was sweet, but it wasn't, "flown in from Hawaii," memorable. Luckily, the Portuguese sausage made up for that. I haven't had a yogurt parfait in some time. Jackie's uses vanilla yoghurt, granola with raisins, and blueberries in theirs. It was the most guilt-free part of our meal. Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 - #60/100 Tired, sleepy, and hungry from our red eye flight from LA, we were looking for a place that offered the good ole American breakfast. Yelp came through and found Jackie's for us. When we filed in, I noticed a couple of guys in blue in the next table and a few other locals in others, so I thought this must be The spot. We were immediately welcomed and sat down, our mugs filled with steaming hot and fresh coffee. Mom ordered the cheese omelette, if you love cheese you'd be happy with the amount they have in this dish. Brother and his wife had the cheeseburger deluxe and biscuit and gravy. The burger was cooked to perfection, the biscuit and gravy fell short of our expectations. The big boy got the patty melt which he ate with gusto. I ordered the Portuguese sausage. It's my first time trying a Portuguese sausage so I didn't know what to expect. It did taste a lot like a Mexican chorizo though, minus the spiciness that I like. All in all, our experience was good, the food portions were big, our coffee mugs and water glasses were never empty. Restroom was clean and parking was more than adequate. read more

We tried this out based on our Uber driver's recommendation and boy, was he right! This is a down-home local place with great food and friendly staff and local color. The portions were plentiful and the menu extensive. Some of the food we tried includes biscuits and gravy (very flavorful and fluffy biscuits), reindeer sausage (really yummy with great taste), Irish omelette (duper stuffed with corned beef hash), Dooley's omelette (packed full of tasty fillings), an omelette with turkey, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini and cheese that was also great. Quaint place for breakfast. Great service. Prices are a bit high for breakfast. I had the farmers omelet which was pretty good, but I got the home fries as my side and they were very dry. Definitely needed some seasoning and maybe olive oil and/or onions. The sour dough toast came out late and the butter finally melted after eating my omelet.
