Flo's Pancake House is a local cafe and leans towards divey. The interior is dated with booth seating throughout. The worn springs in the red vinyl bench seats of our booth felt like they may have come from the 1972 station wagon my family owned, when I was growing up. With that said: every booth was filled while we were there. The service was dispassionately, hospitable. We were told to find our own seats upon arrival for breakfast, despite a sign saying wait to be seated. Our server filled the basics of what was required, but there was no warmth or interest. The food took a pretty long time (30-40 mins) to be cooked. We were offered one coffee refill the whole time we were there. Our order came out in two batches, with our server stopping for about ten minutes to collect payment at the register for two sets of customers before bringing the second batch of plates for our order. The food was prepared exactly as ordered and over all was ok to pretty good. The pancakes were very tasty, and the hash-browns were perfectly golden and crisp on the outside while being juicy in the inside. My chicken fried steak was also perfectly breaded and cooked, spiced well but not too much. The sausage gravy was pretty good also, with good sausage flavor but not overly spiced. I added salt and pepper. The bacon was also cooked perfectly, slightly crispy but still a little soft. The eggs were prepared exactly as we ordered, but strangely had very little flavor. Not sure if it is an Alaska sourcing issue or what, but there was nearly no flavor at all to the eggs even after salting and peppering them. The coffee was both bland and weak. Overall I give Flo's a tentative recommendation. It probably used to be really good and could be again. But, the management and staff need to put a little heart and soul back into it, because this place could use some TLC. read more

Flo's is exactly what you want in a classic breakfast spot. It is comfort food done right. The pancakes are fluffy and buttery, the coffee's always hot, and the portions are generous. Everything comes out quick and piping hot, and they do breakfast staples really well. The staff is friendly and efficient. You feel taken care of. Never have I ever had a bad meal here. We found Flo's over 7 heck maybe 8 years ago. Every Saturday my sister and I had breakfast here. Pancakes are so good, and they did not sure if they still do, have SF syrup. I like my eggs fried hard and they always came through correct. My sister loves. The shrimp basket, who am I kidding I love it to. But one of my favorites is the corned beef hash with hash browns, and toast. What can I say I'm a creature of habit. Now into lunch. The burgers are good, I don't get them often since I really have to be in the mood for one. But the baskets are delicious as well as the sampler platter. DO NOT EAT HERE! Breakfast consisted of Black coffee, Scrambled eggs, two porkchops, and hashbrowns with white toast. My coffee tasted as if they reused the coffee grounds. The refill was even worse. This is a much older building and has an old building smell. The booths are not very comfortable and are outdated. The stools at the bar may be a little more comfortable. The coffee is by the cup, and not by the pot. We came in on a Saturday mid morning, just before the rush of people who came in after us. The place was not extremely busy. The tables had a sticky feeling. They were completely out of orange juice. The coffee is Folgers' brand. The food took a while to come out after ordering. I ordered the breakfast steak medium rare. The steak had some type of blue mold or spoiled spot that was not caught by the cook or the waiter. They were kind enough to remake the steak, but it came back well-done. Had the need to get a haircut, and my barber (Yees barber shop) is right next door to Flo's Pancake House. Decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very "Diner" inside as I expected and though pretty busy, with only 2 waitresses, those two ladies never let my coffee cup get below a half a cup. I was expecting a long wait for my food to arrive and it was out and on my table in very reasonable time. Had the hungry man breakfast and it was great. Just eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast, but everything was cooked perfectly. Not sure where they source their sourdough bread, but the sourdough toast was really good. Had an enjoyable Mother's Day breakfast at Flo's today. Called earlier in the week to reserve a table for 8; many other restaurants weren't serving large parties on Mother's Day for some reason or wouldn't let us reserve a table, or weren't open early enough (9am). So it was a good start! We arrived on time and waited a few minutes, no big deal. Our party ordered all types of dishes, overall everyone was pleased. Traditional American greasy-spoon breakfast. The hash browns were the stars of the show. Hollandaise on Benny was great, lemony and a little sweet. Gravy and biscuits were meh, thankful they were just a side (minus one star for lackluster gravy). Our server was great and provided "just right" attentiveness and coffee refills. I wish I knew the history of this restaurant! The servers are firm but friendly. It helps to either grab a menu, if they're busy, and/or know what you want to order ASAP. Flo's is usually swamped on weekends. Overall, the food is tasty and they have delicious pancakes. The coffee is decent enough for a diner; it's Folgers. It's your typical greasy spoon spot where you know you can get a hearty plate of food for an affordable price. Here's the thing. The food isn't bad, and the servers are nice. But we waited 55 minutes for food. The food that did arrive included soft biscuits and crispy bacon. The eggs were more runny than. Over medium should be. The avocado was fresh. No alternate/vegan options for breakfast meat on the menu. The sausage gravy didn't seem homemade. Just didn't have the consistency of a gravy mixed with flour as it simmered to a thicker consistency. It wasn't bad though. The place was busy, but 55 minutes is the sign of an inefficient kitchen, not a busy restaurant. This is a management issue. There were several signs along the bar that said, "No sitting to take orders" and "don't give too much butter." They were signed "Mr Woo." Dear Mr Woo, Your employees treat the customers very nicely and they work very hard. They are friendly and courteous. The kitchen cannot keep up. We both got perfect meals! My eggs, bacon, sausage, and French toast were made to perfection! My fiancé's Spanish omelette was yummy and filling with a good side of potatoes. I've been eating breakfast here for a decade and it keeps slipping down the slope into a sewer drain. I'm done. It used to be a nice family food place with a rural county home menu and environment but now it's dirty, decrepit, cheap, small, and tasteless. Muldoon has so many restaurants now, I'm surprised they have stayed in business but I take some responsibility because it's the regulars who remember the glory days and eat with hope. I came here with a very large group of people. I felt that our waitress did a good job in taking our orders in a speedy manner, and delivering them correctly. All of our orders came piece by piece, but that wasn't her fault, I understand that the kitchen can only handle so much at a given time. When we all paid, separately I might add, she was also very quick about that as well. Now for the food, what you're really looking for! ;) I ordered the Spanish Skillet and I thought it was quite delicious and had the nice spicy kick I was looking for. However, as I finished it, the vinegar from the pickled jalapenos started to overpower the flavor. I feel that if they either used less, or used fresh peppers, the flavor would still be there without the overpowering flavor toward the end. If they used fresh peppers, it might even help provide a crunch that would help to break up the soft textures of the dish. But overall, I was very happy with this choice and would definitely order it again. The coffee was just okay, not great, a little watery. The only difference is you'll probably receive more friendly service end the decor looks like it's from the seventies. So why come to a place like this? Well, because most likely if you do you're going to be hanging out with locals that come here all the time. There's nothing wrong with the food here it's simply below average food and at an affordable price. It's the kind of place that people like to visit because they're comfortable with it being in their neighborhood. We came here with a friend of ours that figured it was an easy place to grab a quick breakfast and get in and out. And, he was right. OMG SOURDOUGH PANCAKES!! Theirs are the best I've ever had. I see a lot of salt in other reviews about their outdated decor. When I was here early November, it appeared booths had been reupholstered and the restaurant was clean, though it definitely did have a more 70s-feel to it. TBH, as long as it's clean, all I really care about is whether the service is good and food is tasty. Spanish Skillet killed it. Their sauce is appropriately spicy (jalapenos!) and portion was huge. I'm glad I took it home because leftovers were even better the next day! Sourdough pancakes - again, best in town. A little more dense than regular pancakes, and oh. so. good. You have to walk up to the register to pay, where they have a sign asking parents to keep their little ones under control and in the booths rather than running through the restaurant, which I always appreciate. Service was efficient, though I probably should've checked the bill at the end because there were two points during the meal where we were brought more of something after telling our server it was not necessary (extra hot cocoa, though, so not complaining). We found this gem after turning around on our was to Wasilla due to a snow storm coming in. What a gem it is!! We only had breakfast, but it was so good! Prices are fair as well! They offer a 10% senior discount if you ask for it, which we did not until we saw the sign while paying. Friendly service, food came pretty quickly. A little tough getting someone to refill coffee and water once they got busy. The skillet was amazing. My sweetheart and I usually go here for breakfast and it is always good. He orders a skillet and I usually opt for an omelet or a french toast combo. Great service, great food. Good portions. Nice atmosphere of a variety of people- military, older & younger couples, families, all types. The staff is very friendly and efficient and its always busy on the weekends.
