Great food and great service 10/10 , wide variety. Very creative indoor , very beautiful. One of the best place we been in Alaska!

Veteran-owned and operated! One of the more unique dining experiences we've had. When we walked up to order, we were told that first-time visitors don't get to choose their meal. Instead, we were simply asked whether we preferred something sweet, savory, or a combination of both, and the cooks took it from there. Our food was made fresh to order and came out quickly. The restaurant was clean, had a welcoming atmosphere, and wasn't overly busy during our visit, making for a relaxed experience. If you're looking for something different and enjoy trusting the process, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommend! read more

This restaurant is got a business model I have never seen before. For your first time they pick your meal. And if you don't like it, they will give you something else. They gave us so much food. I was in shock. And everything we didn't like or wanted more of we just asked and they gave us more or replaced it. Honestly, everything was so delicious and I would absolutely recommend and return to this place. The service was fun and upbeat and playful with this quirky first meal business model. read more

This place was amazing. This was my first time here so they offer to pick your dish for you and if you don't like it , you can switch it out for something else. Not sure what the name of the dish was but it was great. The chicken was very flavorful, the sauce was great and of course the waffles were good. Very friendly service. I would highly recommend if passing through anchorage! read more

Anchorage Alaska with me and I went to waffles and what not I found them on Yelp. I called my order and I got the waffles and chicken strips with syrup and they give you their own fresh sauce when I got to the location Anchorage my order was ready. I sat down at eight right here. I hooked you up immediately. I like the ambience in the site around the restaurant. It was pretty cool with a lot of history. My wife had not ordered online so she ordered us the counter and she was informed that it was the first time they ordered for you. They went over to work that out, but you moved the wrong order and she also ended up getting the waffles and chicken strips by the time she got hurt I was ready for a second so I went back and ordered another. It was very good and how do you recommend to check it out? We need the Anchorage Alaska area. read more

Great waffles, outrageous combos and you need to be hungry! Only our son-in-law could finish his!

First time visiting so they order for you. If you don't like it they will make you something you like. But trust the process! Our food was amazing and the staff are amazing and friendly. Our first visit so the staff member said they choose what you eat and if you don't like it after 2 bites, you can choose something else. What a concept "Try before you like it ". This establishment has been featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives (see photo) and is very inclusive which was super cool. You can write on the wall about your visit which I found to be fun and inviting. I had the House Omelette which was surprisingly flavorful and excellent. It was exactly what I was looking forward to for breakfast. I tried some of the chicken from Crazy Uncle and was amazing! I was so surprised and delighted as was the rest of my party. Now, I have to pay and that is where I will share my appreciation :0) read more

As first time customers, they have a rule where they pick out a dish off the menu (while addressing food considerations) for you as a surprise and if you don't wind up liking it then they will replace it with something else. I was very pleased with my chicken and waffles. My husband also got the sausage bacon omelette. The service was great. Very kid friendly and they had a play area too. I would let them pick out my second dish. read more

Great experience this morning at a really cool concept breakfast spot in Anchorage. Off of the usual tour trail, we found this place. I liked it because I didn't have to order. What a great place. The gluten free waffles were amazing. The staff was awesome. Will come back on next trip!

It was my first time here with a friend who loved it. I was not disappointed! They asked if I was willing to let them pick my meal, and then asked sweet or savory. I ended up with a delicious waffle and chicken tenders. It was amazing and I will be going back anytime I'm in the area again! read more

I've been to Waffles and Whatnot three times in just the past couple of weeks, and every visit has been incredible! Leer (sorry if I'm spelling that wrong!) has been absolutely amazing each time--so kind and welcoming--and the same goes for the other cashiers and cooks. The whole team creates such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. My go-to meal? The chicken, mac & cheese, and waffle loaded with cookie butter, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. On my very first visit, they asked what flavors I liked, and I told them "sweet and savory"--and they nailed it. Ever since then, it's been my regular. I always think about trying something new, but I can't help coming back for that combo--it's just that good. Today, Leer mentioned they were exploring opening new locations, and I told her Fort Worth would absolutely love a place like this. With the owner being a veteran and Fort Worth having such a strong military community, I know people there would rally behind it. We love supporting our own. Also, if you really listen, the music playing in the background is all original--and every track tells a story about the restaurant's culture, energy, and mission. That level of intention just makes the experience even more special. All in all: great people, great food, great energy. Hopefully we'll meet again in Fort Worth! Editing to add a BIG shoutout to the man running the window that food gets picked up from. I saw him let a customer (who looked like he was wearing a kufi) know that the Mac n cheese was cooked in bacon grease. The customer was unaware of this and was grateful and changed his order. That kind of cultural awareness and honesty shows that place isn't just about great food--it's about heart. read more

Two words: speech-less! Hands down without a doubt the best waffle I have ever had. Thankfully as a first time customer I didn't have to make the hard choice of choosing just one item off of the incredible looking menu. And I was pleasantly surprised at what I received. The softest, lightest waffle with the perfect sweetness and the most tender, crispiest chicken I've ever tasted. Paired with the spicy bbq sauce the creamy Mac I was in love after one bite. This place knows exactly how to do waffles the right way. The food came quick and served hot. This is the perfect spot for a filling meal that will warm the winter away! read more

My 13 year old grandson and I went to Waffles and Whatnot during an "Anchorage Sightseeing and Food Tour" so we weren't sure what to expect, but let me tell you, we were not disappointed!!! The food here is AMAZING!!!! We got the Breakfast Stack, and one taste of the waffles and you just have to close your eyes to savor the deliciousness! The waffles are the best I've ever had, huge, and just so flavorful. We liked it so much that we actually went back the next day for breakfast, but beware, the portions are so big that you might want to share an order. If I lived in the Anchorage area, I would be a regular customer there. This is definitely a place not to be missed. read more

They say, "You can't judge a book by its cover,"and that is true of this restaurant. We went to Waffles And What Not (WAWN) because it was featured on Food Network's Diners Drive-ins and Dives. This place is an unassuming hole-in-the wall that we probably would not have tried if I hadn't noticed that it was featured on Food Network. I am glad I did. Playful, and quirky, WAWN was a delightful breath of fresh air on an otherwise gray day. We were greeted with a promise that first time patrons would have their meals chosen for them, If we didn't like what was served within two bites; they would take the uneaten food no charge and prepare food of our choice. They chose perfectly. Like the three bears I like my food savory, my son likes his food sweet. My wife likes her food savory and sweet. My son's Chocolate Banana Belgian waffle was very sweet and he loved it. My wife's Chicken and Waffles served with mac-n-cheese was perfect. She loves Mac-n-cheese. My waffle Sandwich filled with eggs, chicken and Bacon with cheese was so filling I could only eat half! I can't wait to eat the other half! Their coffee was rich and flavorful as well. The restaurant interior is decorated with customer graffiti. Patrons from days gone by have shared their names, art and wisdom in multicolored markers over most of the walls. A few flat screens display menu items and feature local advertisements. One monitor near the register shows the menu. The tables are bright red wooden picnic tables. WAWN looks a bit sketchy from the outside, and truthfully from the inside too. But, it is delicious food at Alaska affordable prices. Our total bill was about 60.00 with tip. Which is on the lower end for Alaska where I have found prices are about 20% or more higher than the lower 48. I absolutely recommend this gem to locals and visitors alike. It is quirky but in a good way that is fun and delicious, like art that should be cherished. Definitely, an experience I recommend. read more

This is probably the best place I had in Anchorage. Customer service was top notch. When you walk in they ask if this is your first time here. If you say yes they said that they pick the food for you and all you do is say if you like sweet or savory or both. You pay after because if you don't like it you don't pay. I paid upfront cause I trust confidence. Both me and my friend got great recommendations. You must come! Ambiance is family friendly and parking is in the front. read more

I stopped in on my coworkers' recommendation. I like the concept. All meals are based on the waffle. The staff is friendly and fun and helpful. When you walk in for the 1st time, you could be overwhelmed. The staff makes your first pick, if you don't know what you want. If you don't like it, you get a free replacement choice. You can choose, sweet, heat or a combination of both. The concept is breakfast all day. There is space in the dining area. You aren't packed in like sardines. The dining area is well kept and neat. My meal was actually pretty good. Cash/Credit/Debit are accepted here. read more

Food came quickly and was delicious as it always is :) When ordering this time though I was rushed to move along with it being steadily busy, as it usually is on a Sunday afternoon. Second time coming to their new-ish brick and motor store on Muldoon I think where the old Paris cafe used to be. It's definitely an interesting inside. Green pained floors with a dozen bright red picnic tables to sit at. The walls are covered with people's messages and signatures (ours included, look for one of the Woodstocks) they also have a kid area with books and toys. You go up to the counter to order and then they bring it out to you or call your name. This is a triple D location because his waffles are darn good. Even his chicken strips. Wow. If you learned about the owner, Derek's backstory, you'd appreciate his businesses and the food even more. All this for $13. Staff are nice too and trained well. read more

We finally made our way over here after seeing that they WAWN was on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. I wish we came sooner! When we got there they said since it was our first time they were going to surprise us, and they did! It was amazing! The ambiance makes you feel like your outside at picnic tables ordering from a food truck, which my husband and I both liked since Alaskans only get to spend a handful of days outside. We are both on keto and they have amazing keto options that taste delicious! (The photo pictured I cheated that day ) If you haven't gone here yet, don't wait any longer! Man, what a good breakfast! Honestly, I'm not sure what I got since it was our first time and chosen for us, but it did not disappoint. The sausage gravy, probably some of the best sausage gravy I have had in a long time. That is saying something since I live in TX, aka the home of some really good sausage gravies. The bacon was cooked perfect and wasn't some cheapo thin bacon that lots of other places serve. Others in our group had an omelet with a waffle, a fruity waffle and the straight up waffle plate. Everyone was super happy and it was a great meal. If we are ever back in town, we will 100% be back! read more

Our family of four had lunch here with friends today at their recommendation. Was NOT disappointed. The staff informed us that first-timers just need to answer a few questions and they will choose your items for you. The food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering and it was all excellent. The chicken was all well cooked but still tender and juicy. The mac and cheese has a surprising garlic punch that was delightful. The waffles are all perfectly crisp but fluffy. Peanut butter is drizzled precisely to fill the pockets but not spill over. Fruit is ripe and flavorful. Eggs are cooked just past runny but short of firm. There is nothing I could imagine improving and I'm rather particular about my food. The environment is simple but pleasant, park bench style layout with food-truck ordering. However, you don't have to pick it up, as it is delivered to your table. Staff not only delivered in a timely manner but check back twice on our experience without intruding. I always enjoy finding places with such professional & charming service. If you like chicken & waffles, you won't go wrong here. read more

This restaurant can be described as unique and exceptional. We arrived to the restaurant and were greeted by the staff asking if this was our first time. It was our first time. So, the chefs chose our first meal and stated that if we didn't like what they chose for us, then after two bites we could return it and choose something else from their full menu. There was a bit of skepticism at first, but they delivered and then some! I was brought a Confused Cousin which was: two fluffy waffles with crispy chicken strips, flavorful mac n cheese, drizzled in barbecue and spicy sauce! I was completely unaware that Guy Fieri actually helped create this sandwich. My wife's meal was called the Mistress: one fluffy waffle drizzled in chocolate, topped with sliced blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream, mac n cheese, and chicken strips. Both meals were very delicious! While we dined not only did we enjoy the food, we also enjoyed the music and the friendly staff. This is a gem hidden in Anchorage! read more
