This establishment has been featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives (see photo) and is very inclusive which was super cool. Leer (sorry if I'm spelling that wrong!) has been absolutely amazing each time--so kind and welcoming--and the same goes for the other cashiers and cooks. The whole team creates such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. My go-to meal? The chicken, mac & cheese, and waffle loaded with cookie butter, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. On my very first visit, they asked what flavors I liked, and I told them "sweet and savory"--and they nailed it. Ever since then, it's been my regular. I always think about trying something new, but I can't help coming back for that combo--it's just that good. Today, Leer mentioned they were exploring opening new locations, and I told her Fort Worth would absolutely love a place like this. With the owner being a veteran and Fort Worth having such a strong military community, I know people there would rally behind it. We love supporting our own. Also, if you really listen, the music playing in the background is all original--and every track tells a story about the restaurant's culture, energy, and mission. A few flat screens display menu items and feature local advertisements. One monitor near the register shows the menu. The tables are bright red wooden picnic tables. WAWN looks a bit sketchy from the outside, and truthfully from the inside too. But, it is delicious food at Alaska affordable prices. Our total bill was about 60.00 with tip. Which is on the lower end for Alaska where I have found prices are about 20% or more higher than the lower 48. I absolutely recommend this gem to locals and visitors alike. From the outside it looks like it would be a pawn shop. Inside I was slightly taken aback as it looks a little more centered around kids kind of like a daycare. I think it's supposed to be like going to a food truck with the picnic table experience inside. Your first time eating there you don't choose what they make you. You give them your allergies and they whip up something to accommodate. So that's a different kind of experience. The food is wonderful. I don't know how they just know what I like and how I like it but it was incredibly well done. I'm unsure what the sauces are but I did get some kind of sweet nut butter sauce with my waffle and sweet hot sauce with my fried chicken. The amount of food served is so large you could easily feed two people from one plate.
