You should disregard the credibility of anyone that rates this place over three stars. My "hot pastrami sub" came on a grocery store roll and had been microwaved. They have a limited selection of chips. I won't comment on the service, as others have. It was fine. But any place that stacks cardboard boxes, old appliances and overstock in their dining area leaves a little to be desired. This place doesn't even try. Yeah, it's cheap. But it isn't great. read more

Scottie's Sub Shop - 8" pastrami sub - Sandwiches Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

Located across the street from the mall, this was a nice spot for a quick lunch. I popped in for a sandwich and wasn't disappointed with the food. There is a lot of variety here as far as food options. My only caveat is that it wasn't really an inviting atmosphere , like no acknowledgments or anything. However, it is a local mom and pop shop, support them. read more

I've been ordering from Scottie's for years and I love everything I've tried -- which is a lot on the menu. Everything from burgers to bulgogi are delivered quickly, and are hot, fresh, delicious and in many cases in large enough portions to share or save for another meal. I love this place! read more

Only reason it's not a 5 is I haven't eaten every meal they offer. The food is no nonsense and worth it if you're hungry! In a time where quality and quantity shrink while prices go up Scottie's delivers a taste of the past read more

Scottie's Sub Shop - Mongolian Beef - Sandwiches Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

I have never eaten at the establishment so i can't comment on the ambiance but we get delivery at the office from there at least twice a month from here. Food isn't amazing but I will say it is consistently decent. It's more of a middle of the board 3. But it's comfort food and their delivery service is quick! It helps the office is near their establishment so that may be helpful in the end but the driver is always so friendly so that will go a long way with me and they're very nice on the phone when we place our office order. The office is is sure to order from here again as we know it's reliable and can count on them. read more

Scottie's exudes the motley crew of food styles you find in Alaska eateries: they have breakfast stuff, they have Chinese/Asian stuff, they have burgers, and...of course, they have subs. It's located downtown and it's one of the cheaper (if not the cheapest) place to grab a meal there. Interior is dated, it's not sexy but it's functional. Menu is also very old school in style. It uses those slide-in-letters like you might see at a mom n pop banana split stand in rural Wisconsin. I got a pastrami breakfast sandwich. Because I'm a wierdo, I subbed kimchi for the fries. It was a good meal. I wish the bun was a bit more breakfasty and a bit less hamburgery though. They also didn't have any black coffee, which is odd for a place that does breakfast foods. read more

This is a great hole in the wall place! My first experience here and the food here is great. I ordered a hot pepperoni sub which at first glance looked sad but in between the buns there was a good inch of pepperoni. Felt like I was eating just pepperoni after the first couple of bites, which did feel kinda heavy. My only complaint is that I wish I got more fries :( but overall it was a good sub. My partner had the teriyaki burger, which looked very appetizing!! He said it had the best combination of sweet and savory with the pineapple and teriyaki glaze. Seems like the place where you constantly get good service because the owner (assuming) helped up decided what we should get. Apart from burgers and subs, they also offer oriental food. Definitely recommend!! read more

Why would I show you my ID with my personal information on it to purchase a sub sandwich? Staff was very rude . I eat the sandwiches before end. The bread was soggy Wayover priced at $17 for a foot-long. " it's our policy that you show your ID when purchasing with a debit card." Are you sure cause Google says it's in the terms and conditions when a restaurant signs for MasterCard or visa debit that the merchant cannot require ID for purchase. read more

Amazing!! First time trying and have zero regrets. Fast service, clean and friendly. Very hot, fresh and just plain goodness. Highly recommend trying! read more

Absolutely the worst subs we've ever had in our lives. How does one screw up turkey and corned beef sandwiches? You have to try real hard. From the bread to the meat to the wrong toppings, it was a miserable experience. After hours of driving and more to go, it was disheartening. This place needs to be out of business. read more

Had lunch here today with a colleague. It's close enough to my office that I could walk, so the location is nice. The service left a bit to be desired though. The shop employee was rather short with us and seemed to be in a grumpy mood. We spoke to her through two sheets of plastic barriers and she demanded we pay her through a curtain that she reached her hand under. Seemed a bit sketchy (like an illegal deal going down)... thanks covid. ‍‍ Anyhow, I ordered a club sandwich (generally a safe bet at a new restaurant) and my colleague ordered a burger of some kind with pepperoni on it. Mine was ok, nothing to write home about; and she said hers was pretty good. She enjoyed the fries the most. At $10 for a cold sandwich, mine didn't come with a side. Also, I think $3 for a small bottle of unsweetened tea is gouging; but... supply and demand on a warm day; right? Leaving my personal opinion out of it, here is some helpful info: they don't offer dine in options at this time; but local delivery is only $1 according to their menu. They have a broad menu, from Asian food to American, they seem to have something for everyone. Speed is not their forte; so if you know you should 'have a Snickers' at minute 22 after turning hungry, don't show up close to the end of that time frame. That said, it just means it's cooked to order. read more

For being downtown they don't charge you for it. This is great because paying for the privilege to be in Alaska is already to much, to then charge more being downtown is crazy! You know who you are! Stop charging us for stupid reasons! This place works very well in its location. Staff is friendly and fast. Food is by no means the best but it's also not bad. I feel it's better than some of the Saturday and Sunday downtown market vendors who just re package Costco food with no care or sense of pride in what they do. Small little hole in the wall place but they have great burgers or Chinese that is truly good. I often have a hard time deciding because they do both so well. They also will allow you to customize and it's not to bad on the budget. A true mom and pop place in downtown. Come check them out and remember how nice it is to have a family run place over the nearest chain that will charge you more just because they can. read more

5 stars on food when the man is cooking. 1 star for customer service. I called to place an order and she wanted my card to preorder I told her all I have is cash. She said no card no order then just hung up. So. I guess I will just do my best to spend money somewhere else on sandwiches read more

I was visiting my son in Anchorage, and spotted this little sub job on the side of the street. I noticed they had Asian food and decided to give it a try. I'm from Honolulu and I'm used to excellent Asian food. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with rice and a salad on the side. It's not cheap $12 in fact. However, It was Ono (delicious)! Especially during a cold day in Anchorage the hot chicken, the delicious sauce and warm rice hit the spot. If you're walking down fifth Avenue in Anchorage look for Scotty subs. Deliciousness. My only complaint is the price. $15 for a plate lunch and a bottle of sweet tea is pricey. read more

I LOVE SCOTTIE'S. Food has always been good be it their sandwiches, Asian dishes and others, and their prices are good as well! They are the only place I order from while at work. Ordering over the phone is easy and delivery is within 20-30 min depending on lunch rush. I usually order by 11:30am to beat the rush. read more

Scotties sub shop has a place in my heart forever, and I will tell you why....where else in this wonderful town of eateries can you get the three basic food groups needed to survive? What are they you ask? Sub-sami's, Burgers- and Chinese Food, all in the same location....man now that is a restaurant! It is totally mind boggling the items you can select from here! I mean a Bologi Sub with Swiss Cheese? Or how about a Kung Pao Chicken Sub!!! Better yet, a Mongolian Beef Burger!!! Ladies and Gentle I am telling you this is STROKE city! If you want to go out enjoying the worlds craziest creations, then this is the spot! I am telling you this is not for the weak at heart, AND you may NEVER need another laxative as long as you live!! This place ROCKS! Officially stamped with "THE DOBIE SEAL OF APPROVAL"! read more

Just a very simple deli to grab a sandwich, chips and a coke. It's in the $6 - $10 range for a combo meal; I got the patty melt, and it was delicious, with grilled onions, cheese, and hamburger. When you first walk in, it doesn't make a strong impression, but the food sure did. I've attached a pic of their to-go menu. read more

Just in town as a stop on a landtour. Wanted a sandwich for our bus trip. Walked past and decided that we would give this little hole in the wall a go. After ordering a combo 12", ham, turkey, beef, tomatoes, union, lettuce. Came in a foam box and seemed heavy. Opened it a couple of hours later an d OH MY GOD. This was a serious sandwich, huge with thick cut meats, almost. 5-6mm thick, and more than one piece. Thickness of meat was 3" easy. Taste was very good and bread was fresh, a big roll. Over 12" long. This thing was a monster. I ate 1/2 and my wife couldn't finish hers. The people on the bus were asking WHAT THE F&@K. I will make a point to come by again if i ever get back to anchorage. The locals must be happy! Go Scottie! read more

The owner wrote tip without my approval. Very rude as well. Had to leave without getting food.

It's a good little food joint that is reasonably priced. They have all kinds of cold drinks to choose from in refrigerators but only a few choices of chips. The subs are good along with the fries. They have other food such as burgers, oriental food, fried rice, salad and breakfast sandwiches read more

I stopped in for a club house sandwich and it was perfect! It had a very "homey" taste as they use simple ingredients. It was $12.50 for the sandwich and a drink. The burgers and oriental food all smelled delicious and I'll probably be coming back to try that in the future. I gave them 4 stars because they advertise a lunch special with fries however I did not receive any fries. I think you're supposed to declare your order as a lunch special if you'd like some. Other than that, it's a great spot to try out. read more

Oh my goodness, the best fusion of foods I've had in ages. The beef bulgogi sub is 100%, grade A, awesome. I was in love with every bite. The blend of the soft hoagie roll, with delicious, tender, tangy bulgogi was decadent and the use of a cheap white american cheese made it a classic yet innovative . The juices from the bulgogi soaked into the fresh bread. I loved every bite! I wish i had ordered the macaroni salad. I am always wary of ordering potato salad or macaroni salad because there are so many I haven't liked, but I tasted my friend's mac salad and it was just like mom's! Very happy they deliver to Fairview. A+ read more

I ordered food for the office. There was a couple pieces of hair in the Kimchi Fried Rice. Disgusted!!!

Scotties has the best sandwiches! Their Bul Go Gee sandwich was amazing! It was worth every penny!

Really just about as awful as you get, greasy, cheap and lazy. I live downtown and have very little to choose from in the downtown area for cheap eats. The teriyaki is slimy and the chicken tastes old, the sandwiches are overpriced for the size and taste... Lucky Grocery and Deli just opened up around the corner with some new owners and almost the same type of menu but it is fresh and clean and they seemed to care. Maybe it is time to pack up Scottie and move to another neighborhood you seem tired of the downtown patrons that keep you in business. read more

After reading Yo U's review I tried a Pastrami Sub, the 8" medium size was $10. It was good enough but skimpy on the meat and the cheese was barely melted. The one scoop of potatoe salad that came with it was more like cold, refrigerated left-over mashed potatoes. I was the only one in the place, so they weren't rushed or anything. I came here based on the "Dobie seal of approval", it was okay, but pricey. Being across the mall, it must be the location you're paying for. The service was more efficient than friendly: "What do you recommend?" "We have rice dishes, hamburgers,..." Weird-note: The George Clooney movie that was playing had full frontal female nudity which I do not take offence to, but I guess it was some kind of DVD they just plugged in without knowing the content. read more

Have ordered from here a few times now. The Staff is very friendly and food was good cheap for the price you pay and the amount they give you. A little weird that they offer burger, chines food, subs but I can't complain the food was flavorful and not bland. I understand that they can get short handed and busy, but I will say it's well worth the wait to order food and receive it. read more

A very good value - fast delivery in the downtown area - food is delicious! A great variety of American and Asian foods. My favorites are the Mongolian beef "burger," the tuna melt, and the chef salad is very big! I LOVE their macaroni sald! Perhaps sandwiches are the way to go here. I don't know. Maybe Korean food just isn't my thing, but I figured that I couldn't go wrong with bulgogi at a Korean cafe. Well, it wasn't that tasty in my inexpert opinion: the meat was rather tough and the price was very high for the quality on offer. If I go back again, then I'll try something other than the Korean dishes. read more

Just now this happened. I work downtown and ordered 2 lunches. 1 was a Rueben with macaroni salad. The sandwiches are usually good and they are fast at delivering. Well, the mac salad did not come on the side as requested (no fries either, just a sandwich). When I called and told the woman on the phone that the mac salad was not includes, she was very rude from the start and insisted she packed it up. When I tried to explain that the order did not have it, she hung up. I called back and asked if she hung up and she said she did because the mac salad was included. I again told her that I opened the delivery bag, it contained 2 sandwiches, our sodas but the side of mac. salad was not there. I asked if perhaps she included it in another order. She continued to argue and told me it was there and that she did not pack it with someone else's order as they "were not that busy". And then she abruptly hung up. Look, I have way more to do than try to scam a deli out of a side of macaroni salad and then take time to go on YELP, but this is warranted. I called her again and asked for the name of her manager or the owner. She said, "your macaroni salad is on the way, OK?" and AGAIN hung up on me. I called again (4th time) and asked why she kept hanging up. I asked to speak to her manager and she said she WAS the manager. WOW. I asked to speak to the owner and told her I did not want to leave a bad review on Yelp or FB, at which point she replied, "I don't care, just stop calling me and your macaroni salad is on the way, OK?" and hung up AGAIN. So, here's the deal. Both of our downtown locations order from there, about 20 of us, and now they have lost not 1, but 20 regular customers because she was so rude. I am just shaking as I can't believe someone would even act like this.. P.S. The macaroni salad just arrived. I threw it away as I don't trust it now! Really?? I'm shook, people! Still no clue who the owner is, but if he/she ever reads this, that woman needs to GO! read more
