2nd time having a jersey mikes, and I got to try the turkey and provolone, mikes way. It was really good! I actually crave these sandwiches. Not as many toppings as other places but it is all fresh. I wonder if they bake the bread or ship it? I need to sign up for the app, I'm missing out.

The Original Italian Giant Sub! Man, I missed these. So glad they're finally here in Anchorage!

I came down here for lunch after finding out that Jersey Mike's recently opened in this small strip mall right next to the Carrs supermarket on Abbott Rd. I was eagerly looking forward to having a sub from Jersey Mike's as it has been years since I last had one when I was living in North Carolina in 2014. They have locations everywhere in the state and this place reminded me of my time in Raleigh before moving up here. I spoke to one of the members of the management team, a friendly guy who came here all the way from New Jersey. He thought this part of town had potential and he was correct. There are long lines during the lunch rush every day. The only thing that presents a problem for the restaurant is how small the place is. There are no tables and chairs for anyone to dine in and the restrooms are concealed from view because of the line snaking its way to the front counter. That didn't stop me from ordering one of my favorite subs, the Original Italian (all the meats you would associate with East Coast delis: ham, prosciuttini, salami, pepperoni, and cappacuolo...I think of the Sopranos every time I say this word), in a giant size on Rosemary Parmesan bread. All subs have an option to order Mike's Way which is a standard veggie lineup of onions, lettuce, tomatoes with a splash of vinegar, oil and seasonings. The employees were well-trained for the lunch rush and the line, although very long, was moving at a steady pace as each customer placed their order. I only had to wait a few minutes with a dozen people in front of me which was really impressive. The sandwich was everything I remembered about the North Carolina locations. Thinly sliced meats piled high with provolone and the same freshly baked bread to go with. The counter where they display the meats and cheese brings up images of the delis in New York, vacuum-sealed and labels that say 95% fat free on each package. The prices are higher than I would have liked but of course every business here in the state has to cover transportation costs for good quality meat like this. There is an app you can add to your smartphone that will give you points every time you order a sub with chips and a drink. The QPC code is listed on the front window next to the entrance door. Scan that and you will accumulate points for free subs in future purchases. You can also order online on the app or website and pick it up at the front counter without having to wait behind several people in line. This is a welcome addition for a town that badly needs more lower 48 franchises to reinvigorate the dreary dining scene here in Anchorage. Cheesecake Factory, Chick-Fil-A, and In-N-Out, I'm looking at you!

Original Italian..... man was this a great sandwich

Finally got in to this location and wow, Jersey Mikes original Italian sandwich puts all the others to shame. Great sandwich, fresher veggies. Amazing meats. I'll be back here for sure.

There was quite the line when we arrived (starting out the door), but they were quick with taking orders! I took this as a great sign. My partner got the Reuben and I got the Smokin' Mo Sandwich which is brisket, cheese and bbq. Finally some good brisket in town!! It was so good and tender. I was very happy with my order. It comes with a pickle which was nice and garlicky mmm mmm! Chips and slaw are optional sides, but I didn't partake. I also got latkes as I haven't had them since I was a child. They were good. They come with the traditional applesauce and sour cream. I found the portions generous - I came home with half a sandwich and 2 latkes to eat for dinner. The place is clean and has plenty of seats. They do breakfast all day. They also have Dr Browns soda from NY available by the can or case. The pickles can be bought too and all of their meats by the pound. We plan on coming to get some of the by the pound meats at another time. Staff was very friendly and helpful with answering any questions we had. Will definitely be back.

Lunch time is crazy since they added sandwiches but reminds me of back home so I don't mind at all. You can get a sample with butter that's right they will butter your sample. And it's a slice of the bread, not a small portion like Costco. The Ambiance is that of a bread store, or a sandwich shop. It started with the many choices of bread, a 'would you like some of this delicious warm bread while you wait' paraphrasing only slightly, and then they didn't have the bread for my sandwich (I paid an extra $1 for cheesey) and they went over and beyond to compensate for such a small inconvenience. Having been to Italy, Originale's is the closest restaurant that even compares to the taste of the…read moresandwiches made in Italy. I've had the Nonni and the Classic Piadina. Both are packed with flavor. Whether ordering in or ordering to go, keep in mind it takes quite a while--almost 10 to 15 mins--for the staff to make your sandwich, so I wouldn't recommend that you stop here in you're in a hurry because you're not going to get it out fast. In this case, call ahead about 30 mins or so if you're picking up. The prices are a little high, but it's worth the price for the quality of the food you're getting, which I can't say for most restaurants in the present era (2020s for those that are reading this in the 2030s and 2040s, if this platform still exists then lol!) Either way, the quality is HIGH and the flavor factor? HIGH! The Classic Piadina is very fresh tasting and comes with greens. It only comes in one size, so it's a little small for me. Still delicious! The Nonni is a pretty large sandwich, if you're getting the full sandwich. The onions combine with the meat enhances the flavors. The building that Originale is in presents itself as a very quaint and relaxed lunch spot with bright colors and large windows. It's a place you can go to sit and talk with friends. I look forward to trying more of their sandwiches.

I went with the "Favorito," and let's just say, it instantly earned its name. The prosciutto cotto was pure-savory-bliss-melt-in-your-mouth good. And the focaccia- fresh, herby, and perfectly balanced in thickness. It hugged the fillings just right without stealing the show. Also, the tomatoes- I did not expect them to be so buttery and delicious. I may have paused mid-bite to appreciate them. Yes, I'm that person. As a die-hard cheese lover, the little bonus cube of cheese on the side felt like a tiny gift--like the sandwich was giving me a wink and saying, "Hey, I see you." Originale, I'll be back. Probably sooner than I should be.
