    Smoked salmon taco

Smoked salmon tacos were ginormous. 3 per order but I could only eat two (this is not usually an issue for me!). The salmon was very high quality smoked salmon and there was lots of it. Indoor/outdoor seating was nice on a nice day.

Great customer service and food was super delicious!! Highly recommend. Love the outdoor space for eating.

Was downtown this morning and thought I'd finally try AK Alchemist. I'm glad I did! The Irish cream latte was amazing as well as the breakfast sandwich. It was fairly quick, there was one car in front of me and I was in and out in 10 minutes. I will go back again!

I absolutely love this place. I'm come here and get the salmon nacho fries every time and they always hit. Their coffee is great too. Always have friendly service.

Great halibut tacos! Everything tasted great and the beer was spot on. Great spot to chill and relax on the patio deck. Food came out quick and servers had great smiles.

    Delicious cheese fries

Best french fries in Anchorage. Holy cow. These are delicious. The cheese fries are 1,000,000 cal of delicious with a little bit of shredded cheese and lots of nacho cheese sauce. Staff is friendly and helpful. One order of fries is enough for two people.

Reindeer sausage breakfast sandwich with donut bun
    Nate T.

This photo isn't excellent, but it's EXACTLY what a breakfast sandwich should look like. Peak performance of a breakfast sando. The donut bun is killer, paired with the slightly spicy reindeer sausage takes it next level. As of apparently everywhere in Anchorage and Alaska, A+ breve.

Reindeer crunch wrap and fried pickles
    Justin H.

I stopped to try the reindeer crunch-wrap and it was AWESOME. This thing is hefty and delicious, you won't be left hungry. I got the fried pickles along with it thinking I needed more, but it ended up being extra. The fried pickles were great, too. They slice them into spears before frying, which is different than what I'm used to and kind of nice, it was more like eating french fries. The service was fast and the food is great, but it was a little awkward trying to collect my order without dropping it. There were the two boxes, plus ranch for the pickles and sour cream for the crunch-wrap, but no bag to put it in. It wouldn't have been so difficult except for trying to take it all into the car at once; at least hand items out slowly if they're going out without a bag. Balancing boxes and condiments is not enjoyable. I really like this place; it's so delicious and the portion sizes are huge. I'm not sure what I'm going to try next, but I know I'll be back.

    6:50am Saturday, not open
    Andrew H.

Not sure what's going on with this business, but it seems like their hours are all over the place right now. Sign says they open at 6am everyday. Yelp and Google Maps say 7am on weekends. I went here at 6:50am on Saturday, 10/28. I waited till 7:10, and no one showed up. I love this spot, used to be my go-to morning coffee and food spot. I hope they get their hours/staffing fixed. Will re-review later.

$27 for carne asada quesadilla and a side of fries. Worth it? Definitely not. Fries were over seasoned, nothing special about quesadilla.

It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."

I was really excited to hear about the opening of The Rail and couldn't wait to check it out. The indoor seating was smaller than I expected, but the interior design is even nicer than the restaurant and has a very relaxing feel. As for the beer, I have no complaints at all. Their beer is still some of my favorite to this day. I honestly wish they could somehow sell it in other states so I could grab some whenever I feel homesick. I also feel like this space has a lot of potential for small gatherings, farmers markets, block parties, or even little concerts. We'll see what they do with it over time. They have two apps, some sweet treats and some sandwiches made on flatbread. We got the sandwich with fried tofu and it was just ok. The soft pretzel was pretty good, the cheese just ok. Don't remember if it's the same pretzel as the other 49th restaurant or not. The beer list is expansive, with beers 49th state brewing is testing out, no beers from other breweries. They have a QR code to scan to see the list and they project it on the wall. We got flights to try different beers. They had a few chocolate and coffee stouts. I tried the Mexican stout and it did not have any hint of cinnamon in it like was described. Also tried the apple cider donut beer. The more I drank it the more overly sweet it was. Happy to try different beers and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The guy working, I think his name was Richard. He was great taking care of everyone and being the only one to hold down the entire room. Great place if you want to try some beers and dont want to deal with the hustle and bustle of 49th state brewing up the road.

I was in beautiful Anchorage and…read morewanted to grab some lunch. 49th state brewing was perfect because it wasn't far from my hotel and because it was so cold outside, I didn't want my walk to exceed 15 minutes. I was really hungry so I got there right when they opened at 11 a.m. I was able to be seated immediately and opted to sit upstairs where the tables were lower as compared to downstairs where the tables were high tops. Off the bat the food is phenomenal. For starters I got their popular handmade Bavarian pretzel. It was perfectly seasoned with butter and salt and the pretzel itself was soft and fluffy. It came with a side of cheese which was just as tasty. I was a little nervous it would taste like the melted cheese you eat at an amusement park- but this cheese had fantastic quality. One really neat thing about this brewery is they make their own fountain drinks! I tried the raspberry one and as you can see they aren't shy about the portions! The drink was really good. It had a great flavor to it, and a nice balance. The raspberry wasn't overpowering which I'm grateful for. For my entree I had the Yak burger that came with a side of tater tots. My waiter recommended I get it cooked at medium to keep it juicy. Typically I'm a medium well to well done type of girl, but I decided to trust his judgement and he was right! The burger was huge, messy, and delicious. The medium was definitely a good call. It was juicy but not so red where it would be off putting! Overall, I had a really incredible dining experience at 49th state brewing. And the prices were unbelievably reasonable. My meal came out to about $52 (not including my tip). I would love to come back when it's a bit warmer and sit outside- the views from the restaurant are phenomenal. Also, shout out to my waiter! After this experience I'm done recommending it. They really missed the mark. For starters we got my husband's usual Chipotle steak pizza. Right off the bat I notice it's a weird oval kind of shape. It's not a circle and the pieces don't add up. I'm positive that the someone in the kitchen sliced out the middle the pizza and put it in the box like it wouldn't be noticed. Worst of all. I ordered a pound of their Korean style wings. I usually love these. I thought initially that these are so tiny it's a good thing it's by the weight, not quantity. Well. These were not fit for consumption. I managed to eat two wings that were on the crunchy side. The rest were unfit for consumption. We're talking chicken wing jerky. A bite cracks right through the bone, crunchy marrow, dry translucent meat. What a disappointment. This wouldn't even be something you could feed a dog. So bad.
