    Smoked salmon taco

Smoked salmon tacos were ginormous. 3 per order but I could only eat two (this is not usually an issue for me!). The salmon was very high quality smoked salmon and there was lots of it. Indoor/outdoor seating was nice on a nice day.

Was downtown this morning and thought I'd finally try AK Alchemist. I'm glad I did! The Irish cream latte was amazing as well as the breakfast sandwich. It was fairly quick, there was one car in front of me and I was in and out in 10 minutes. I will go back again!

I absolutely love this place. I'm come here and get the salmon nacho fries every time and they always hit. Their coffee is great too. Always have friendly service.

Great halibut tacos! Everything tasted great and the beer was spot on. Great spot to chill and relax on the patio deck. Food came out quick and servers had great smiles.

Reindeer sausage breakfast sandwich with donut bun
    Nate T.

This photo isn't excellent, but it's EXACTLY what a breakfast sandwich should look like. Peak performance of a breakfast sando. The donut bun is killer, paired with the slightly spicy reindeer sausage takes it next level. As of apparently everywhere in Anchorage and Alaska, A+ breve.

Reindeer crunch wrap and fried pickles
    Justin H.

I stopped to try the reindeer crunch-wrap and it was AWESOME. This thing is hefty and delicious, you won't be left hungry. I got the fried pickles along with it thinking I needed more, but it ended up being extra. The fried pickles were great, too. They slice them into spears before frying, which is different than what I'm used to and kind of nice, it was more like eating french fries. The service was fast and the food is great, but it was a little awkward trying to collect my order without dropping it. There were the two boxes, plus ranch for the pickles and sour cream for the crunch-wrap, but no bag to put it in. It wouldn't have been so difficult except for trying to take it all into the car at once; at least hand items out slowly if they're going out without a bag. Balancing boxes and condiments is not enjoyable. I really like this place; it's so delicious and the portion sizes are huge. I'm not sure what I'm going to try next, but I know I'll be back.

    6:50am Saturday, not open

Not sure what's going on with this business, but it seems like their hours are all over the place right now. Sign says they open at 6am everyday. Yelp and Google Maps say 7am on weekends. I went here at 6:50am on Saturday, 10/28. I waited till 7:10, and no one showed up. I love this spot, used to be my go-to morning coffee and food spot. I hope they get their hours/staffing fixed. Will re-review later.

    Delicious cheese fries
    David K.

Best french fries in Anchorage. Holy cow. These are delicious. The cheese fries are 1,000,000 cal of delicious with a little bit of shredded cheese and lots of nacho cheese sauce. Staff is friendly and helpful. One order of fries is enough for two people.

    Fish and chips
    Judelyne C.

This was my first time eating here so I'm not sure if my experience was the way it was because of post covid or if this is how it usually is, but it was "ehh". I'd definitely recommend trying other local places before settling on this one! For our food, we got the onion rings (a MUST for me at new places), halibut tacos, and their fish and chips. Personally, I was highly disappointed. Not only was everything fried, but the food was still bathing and glistening in its cooking oil. The halibut in both the tacos and the fish and chips were over cooked and inconsistent. The fries tasted like it still needed to be fried for another couple minutes and the onion rings were stale. Also today was super hot and nice, the beer we ordered (on tap) was warm (sad time for this Alaskan). Don't get me wrong - what they're attempting with their atmosphere has a lot of potential! With their menu, it has SO much potential to be delicious, but at this time, it is not a place I'd recommend going for food.

$27 for carne asada quesadilla and a side of fries. Worth it? Definitely not. Fries were over seasoned, nothing special about quesadilla.

It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."

I was really excited to hear about the opening of The Rail and couldn't wait to check it out. The indoor seating was smaller than I expected, but the interior design is even nicer than the restaurant and has a very relaxing feel. As for the beer, I have no complaints at all. Their beer is still some of my favorite to this day. I honestly wish they could somehow sell it in other states so I could grab some whenever I feel homesick. I also feel like this space has a lot of potential for small gatherings, farmers markets, block parties, or even little concerts. We'll see what they do with it over time. They have two apps, some sweet treats and some sandwiches made on flatbread. We got the sandwich with fried tofu and it was just ok. The soft pretzel was pretty good, the cheese just ok. Don't remember if it's the same pretzel as the other 49th restaurant or not. The beer list is expansive, with beers 49th state brewing is testing out, no beers from other breweries. They have a QR code to scan to see the list and they project it on the wall. We got flights to try different beers. They had a few chocolate and coffee stouts. I tried the Mexican stout and it did not have any hint of cinnamon in it like was described. Also tried the apple cider donut beer. The more I drank it the more overly sweet it was. Happy to try different beers and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The guy working, I think his name was Richard. He was great taking care of everyone and being the only one to hold down the entire room. Great place if you want to try some beers and dont want to deal with the hustle and bustle of 49th state brewing up the road.
