We ordered carry out. The order was slightly wrong but still delicious. We had kids and too hungry so we didn't notify the restaurant of the errors. We were in town visiting and many family members visited while in town as well.
I wasn't sure if this spot would live up to the hype, but I really enjoyed it. Since there was an hour long wait for takeout and a 30 minute wait for a table (around 2 on a Sunday), my husband and I decided to dine in. Be prepared that it still takes a while to get your food after you order. We shared a large pizza that was half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. There is an upcharge to do half and half which is a little annoying, but I'm glad they let you do it so that you can try more. The Amazing Apricot was my favorite. It was an interesting combination of flavors. Despite the name, it wasn't overly sweet and the chicken was delicious. The Call of the Wild was also good, but I wanted it to be a little saucier. We were both happy that we had enough for leftovers the next day. Next time, I'd probably coordinate a takeout order to be ready when I want it to cut down on the wait. They have so many unique pizzas that I think this is a must try while in Anchorage.
Such a lovely place for pizzas in Anchorage. We totally loved the place. After hearing multiple recommendations for this spot we stopped by at Moose Tooth. We were seated in a few minutes and ordered their bread sticks for appetizer. The sticks were delicious and the dip was superb. For mains we for the vegetarian Popeye and Pesto Supreme half and half. The pizza was served quickly and was great. Also ordered their white and forager pizza. Of all the four options we loved the Popeye the best. A great place if you are around. Loved the vibe and the service. Has to be on the list if you are looking for good pizza options!
Ok, so... it had been a long enough time since the last time we had been here that my husband and I had forgotten that we had vowed never to return. Additionally, it seems the owners have followed my advice and opened an additional location across town called Eye Tooth to help address some of the customer volume. We had company from out of town and were excited to share this Anchorage gem with them. I remember when I moved here 15 years ago and was introduced to this magical pizza by the doctors I work with. On busy days they would order a crap load of variety from Mooses Tooth and shower the staff with a buffet of amazing options. The range of variety is wild, and the execution was wonderful. But over the years the quality and reliability of the pizza has declined significantly. And once again, on our most recent visit we were disappointed. We were seated more promptly that unusual, and the food came faster than in recent years. But the execution was lacking. Our apricot pizza was 100% missing the apricot jam. Ive had this pizza countless times. It was totally missing. It was dry as the dessert. Tf? And the Thai pizza, while the pb wasn't missing, it was skimpy as heck. Also pretty darn dry. My husband's weirdo meat pizza with mushrooms was fine, but he just didnt like it, as I expected. If he had gotten the carnivore as I suggested, he at least would have been happy. Oh well. The only thing the family liked was their dessert except for me. I got one of their monthly specials and it was an abomination - looked fine, tasted atrocious. Chefs, please remember to taste what your making. FFS. I'm out and done with this place. Bear Tooth has my loyalty now solely bc of the odd little Theater, which is truly a gem. But management really needs to address the declining pizza quality, sincerely a long time Yelp reviewer of 18 years, and previous fan and advocate for your unusual pizzas.
Great pizza, interesting and unique flavor combinations. Service is a little slow but that's because this place is always slammed with orders. My wife and I waited about 20 minutes for a table and then waited about 30 minutes for our order to arrive. We shared a half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. Both good, would get them again. Between the two, I liked the Amazing Apricot more. If I were to come back, I'd probably order take out about 30 to 45 minutes before I wanted to eat so that it was ready when I want to eat.
If you're a pizza lover and have never had a Moose's Tooth pizza, run, don't walk. It's honestly impressive that this place has been going strong since 1996, but after eating here, it's no surprise at all. The pizza is seriously that good. I've spent a lifetime searching for great pizza, and some of my favorites have come from Naples, Italy, Boston, and New Haven, Connecticut. Yet every time I find myself in Anchorage, a stop at Moose's Tooth is non-negotiable. The crust is exceptional--properly seasoned, with just the right amount of chew and crunch. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, creating a pie that's incredibly delicious without ever feeling heavy or overloaded. And the service is warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. For me, Moose's Tooth isn't just good pizza for Alaska. It's good pizza, period. If you're in Anchorage and love pizza, this place belongs on your must-visit list
What another incredible experience from start to finish! This place absolutely exceeded my expectations once again! The pizza was hands down one of the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked with fresh, high-quality ingredients and amazing flavor in every bite. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve. The beer selection was just as impressive, with plenty of great options that paired perfectly with the pizza. Whether you're a craft beer lover or just looking to enjoy a cold drink with your meal, you won't be disappointed. What really made this visit special was the customer service. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to make sure we had a great experience. It's rare to find service this outstanding these days. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and inviting--perfect for a casual dinner with friends or family. As a bonus, they even have a fun little souvenir corner where you can pick up shirts, hats, stickers, and other keepsakes to remember your visit. This is much more than just a pizza place--it's an experience. Amazing food, fantastic beer, outstanding customer service, and a great environment. I can't wait to come back, and I'll definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know!
Usually I love it here. But today maybe it's because they were busy? It was the service. Slow , very slow. Food great. But.... Some pizza was hot, some cold No silverware to eat with Couldn't find any silverware to help ourselves to We had to chase down the waiter to get some
We were told by a Massachusetts friend to try this spot, so we were excited and ready for a great meal. Unfortunately, we ran into a few issues during our visit. The wait was fairly long, but honestly, we didn't mind that part. Upon being seated, however, we immediately noticed that the table was incredibly small. I was trying to balance my bag and camera on what felt like a toothpick sized doll table! But seriously, we travel a lot, and I've never had to sit at such a tiny table. It made the experience feel very cramped and uncomfortable. Our waitress also seemed to disappear for long stretches. The soda pitcher had no ice, and there wasn't any ice in our glasses either, which felt like the bare minimum when you're paying for expensive nonalcoholic drinks. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer, and they weren't bad, pretty standard. For our main course, we had a gluten free pizza. It was good, but nothing particularly special. I also wish they had been a little more generous with the chicken toppings. Overall, I can't really recommend dining in here. Maybe it was just an off night, but when we're having a night out, we don't want to feel like we're sitting at a kids' table in the middle of the room. If you want to give this place a try, I'd recommend ordering your pizza to go instead.
Simply the best pizza in Anchorage. Highly recommend ordering larger pies and splitting 1/2-1/2 toppings if you're a group of folks who want different things. My go to is the Jalapeño Business / veggie delight. This place is busy no matter what time and day you come, so prepare to wait if you hit peak hours. But on the upside - the beers are great too and fast to arrive, so you won't be thirsty while waiting. Noise level is usually low for being so busy, but it may depend on where you end up getting seated. Nice airy feel to the place, decorated in a style that I guess can only be described as...Alaskan? And yes, even if you stay downtown the drive over here is worth it.
This is a very busy place but you can order a drink and there is an outside area you can wait. We ordered a few different pizzas and they were pretty good. We got our typical black olives and pepperoni, half pepperoni half peppers and sausage, jalapeños business and a cheese pizza. Our grandson (4 yrs old) ate 5 pieces of cheese pizza. It must have been good. We also got a salad with ranch. Ranch was delicious. The beer was good and the vodka soda with lime was delicious. It's was clean where sat.
Really great pizza place! Our favorite was the wild mushroom but the other pizzas were good as well (Thai and margarita). There is a long line but it's worth the wait since the pizza is fantastic.
Let me start out by saying I usually Like Moose's Tooth. It's typically good and somewhere I tell people they should try while in Anchorage. After this experience I'm done recommending it. They really missed the mark. For starters we got my husband's usual Chipotle steak pizza. Right off the bat I notice it's a weird oval kind of shape. It's not a circle and the pieces don't add up. I'm positive that the someone in the kitchen sliced out the middle the pizza and put it in the box like it wouldn't be noticed. Worst of all. I ordered a pound of their Korean style wings. I usually love these. I thought initially that these are so tiny it's a good thing it's by the weight, not quantity. Well. These were not fit for consumption. I managed to eat two wings that were on the crunchy side. The rest were unfit for consumption. We're talking chicken wing jerky. A bite cracks right through the bone, crunchy marrow, dry translucent meat. What a disappointment. This wouldn't even be something you could feed a dog. So bad. This experience was the worst I've had with Moose's Tooth. It was so disappointing and also weird. Do better.

The Elf on the Shelf Pizza = 10/10 Recently, we visited Anchorage and were told that we absolutely had to try Moose's Tooth. I'll admit, when I first started reading the menu, I was a little concerned I wasn't going to find something I'd like. Some of the combinations were definitely outside of what I would normally order. Then I spotted the Elf on the Shelf pizza. We asked our amazing waiter what he thought about it, and when he told us it was one of his favorites, we decided to commit and give it a try. Let me just say... MIND. BLOWN. This pizza was easily a 10/10 for me. The combination of flavors worked together so perfectly, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals from our entire Alaska trip. My only complaint? I'm back home in Arizona and we have nothing like it here! But I guess that just gives me another reason to come back to Alaska. Moose's Tooth, you officially have an Arizona girl dreaming about Elf on the Shelf pizza. read more
Moose's Tooth was a fun Anchorage stop with creative pizzas and a cool lodge-like vibe. We came right at opening, so there was no wait. It also happened to be Monday, and the lunch special slice that day was the Call of the Wild, which was exactly the one I wanted to try. The Call of the Wild had reindeer sausage, steak, bacon, mushrooms, red peppers, cheese, and garlic cream sauce. The reindeer sausage was what sold me on it. If I'm eating pizza in Alaska, I might as well get the one with reindeer on it. It was savory, meaty, and very good. We also got a small Brewhouse Favorite with chorizo, sun-dried tomatoes, onions, cheese, and Denali sauce. The spicy chorizo and tangy tomatoes were a great combo. The thin crust was excellent. Chewy with a nice crisp edge, and sturdy enough to hold all the toppings without getting soggy. Lots of seating, plenty of parking, and a fun atmosphere. read more
We'd been hearing about Moose's Tooth on our travels and decided to stop in during our last night in Anchorage. The place was crazy! And this was for early dinner around 5:30 p.m. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of tables and booths. Service was great. We waited about ten minutes for a table for two. Our server was prompt with menus, drinks, napkins. He gave us recommendations in regards to the house brews. I tried the raspberry seltzer which was refreshing. My friend appreciated the ability to "sample" different brews and tried a few different ones. Wish they offered flights of brews. I had the chicken wings, plain. Nicely done. My friend got the Elf on the Shelf pizza. She said it was very good. We splurged and had bananas foster cream puffs and the cinnamon roll bread pudding. Good, not amazing, but good. Overall, a good experience. Took a star off for the desserts, and the chicken wings which were slightly overdone. I'd still consider coming back. Maybe to try one of the other pizzas on offer. read more

This review is for takeout only, and updating my previous 3 star review. We ordered buffalo chicken salad, spicy breadsticks, and carnivore pizza. The buffalo chicken salad (large) was no joke, big enough for 2+ people with leftovers. It included a massive portion of chicken with the salad, and tasted great. The small would actually be an ambitious meal for one person. The breadsticks were very tasty as well, obviously not needed with the large portion of the meals. I wasn't impressed with the carnivore pizza, however. It was on the bland side, but my kiddo sure enjoyed it. Side note: was supposed to receive a text when the food was ready, and it never came even though they had my correct number, so don't wait for a notification to grab your food! read more

They weren't joking. Best pizza or at least top ten pizza places EVER. Very pizza parlor vibe with an alternative twist. Upbeat, clean and high energy. Staff is quick, courteous and effective. Service isn't stuffy and it isn't lacking. You get what you need and they care about that but they aren't kissing your butt through the experience. Just what you would expect and want from a pizza joint. Food - delicious. ALL IF IT. The appetizers, the salads and the pizza. We will definitely stop here any time we want pizza and are in the Anchorage area. Just fabulous. Extra points for the charitable work it seems they participate in. (Posters for events - both profit & non profits- are hung throughout the store). read more

Definitely worth the hype! Friendly fast service, delicious food and drinks, and reasonably priced! The Berry Me In The Sunshine Cocktail and classic Margarita were both refreshing. The Mozzarella Bread Sticks were amazing and generously portioned. The Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding was the perfect end to a dinner as it was served warm with the right amount of sweetness. We loved how extensive their pizza menu was and thought The Napoleon was the best but honestly can't go wrong with any of them as their crust was perfect and not greasy at all. Only thing I will say to keep in mind is the parking, as it can get pretty full with how busy they get! read more
Great time at Moose Tooth. We stopped in early and had no wait. The vibe is pure Alaska, great spot to bring visiting family:) Our server was super friendly and guided us through the drink selection. Five stars all the way!! Today marks my first morning waking up in Alaska and this place is so beautiful in the Winter season OMG! Along with waking up in subarctic temperatures, I stopped by Mooses for lunch and met Julia who took such good care of me and was an absolute sweetheart! She recommended that I get the All American bc that's just who I am, and so I ordered a small All American personal pie with a chili soup -- all for under $30 and no sales tax. Gotta love Alaska and most importantly, the phenomenal pizza they serve at Mooses. Do not sleep on this place especially if you are visiting. read more

A beautiful awesome evening amazing people of the world. Tonight we are in Anchorage, Alaska at the Moose's Tooth for some late night grub out. My buddy highly recommended this joint so Lets get to the food shall we. Diablo Bread Sticks - Bread is nice and soft. The light crunchy crust is pleasant. Cheese is good and the sauce is everything. Its also properly spicy 7.9/10 Spicy Thai Chicken - carrots and bean sprouts is very nice. It reminds of me of what CPK used to be. The best part is the crust. It had perfect texture and and an over all score of 8/10 Listen, if you ever make it to Anchorage, Alaska do give this spot a proper go at it and let me know what you think. Hit that follow for more food and travel adventures by yours truly. Share this review with a smash mode buddy and thank you so much for reading along. I love you Mwah! read more
This place was recommended by a couple sharing the elevator at our hotel. It was about a half mile away so we walked. Amazing how busy it was on a Sunday night around 6 pm. We were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait for a table but we were lucky to snag two seats at the bar. It was still about a 35-minute wait for our pizza but well worth the wait! The 10-inch size is perfect for a very hungry person. Could have stopped at three (of four) slices but no way was I going to leave that last slice behind. Wide selection of beer and other drinks; I had the hefeweisen and hubby had the amber, both good. We each ordered a make-your-own pizza (good selection of toppings to choose from). Crust was perfect- not too thick and not too thin with just the right amount of crunch. I am a self-proclaimed pizza snob from the east coast and I would rate this a 10/10. Service was appropriate for bar service and every employee was moving a lot to take care of both drinks and food. Understandably, it was loud inside with all the conversations going on. When we left about 90 minutes later, there were even more people waiting to get in! read more

Went here 7 years ago on a trip with my parents. We were looking for something to eat and drink and found this place on a whim. Didn't realize it was such a local gem. The pizzas are some of the best I've had, and the beers on tap will wet anyone's whistle. Been dreaming about it since then, and I finally got to come back this summer. Still just as good as I remembered it. Would highly recommend for anyone who is craving some beer and some pizza. read more
Moose's Tooth has some of the best pizza and best brews. We ate here once on vacation 7 years ago and still think about them. So when we came back to Alaska on vacation, this was literally our first stop after leaving the airport. Pizza was just as delicious as we remembered - got their Call of the Wild. Packed with toppings, so cheesy, and so delicious. We ordered a large just so we could have leftovers for dinner later. Love their beers. Good variety as well. Service was great. Efficient and friendly. Hands down, still some of the best pizza. Highly recommend. read more

We were lucky during our visit to Moose's Tooth. Our wait for a table was a reasonable 30 minutes. With so many pizza choices it was hard decision to make. There are lots of flavors in my mouth with the chipotle sauce, zesty sour cream and lime. Service was ok given how busy they were. read more
This place was amazing ! All around service and a great atmosphere to be in, especially when it's snowing outside. It's quite loud in here so if you're expecting an intimate spot, this ain't it, at least at the section we were at, but we didn't mind one bit. We had our pizzas small and thin crust (no extra charge) because we wanted to try as many pizzas as we could before we leave town. The Forager was filled with veggies and I love mushrooms on my pizza. The goat cheese was a great contrast to the rest of the pizza, it didn't overpower the other toppings, I think it complimented everything nicely. The crust was phenomenal! I love a crunchy crust, we devoured this pizza easily. The Call of the Wild was also delicious ! I enjoyed all the thinly sliced red peppers that were scattered across the pizza. It didn't taste salty despite having all the meats as toppings. I recommend this pizza if you're a medium carnivore while also getting your veggies in. The highlight of this pizza was the crust, out of all three pizzas, this had the best crunch. The Garlic Lovers pizza was PHENOMENAL! They had roasted garlic cloves scattered across the entire pizza and my goodness the flavor was fantastic. The pizza was savory with generous amounts of garlic, they didn't wave garlic over the pizza like other places, they weren't stingy with it. We appreciated that! If you're a garlic lover, GET THIS PIZZA! We thought this pizza was the best out of the three we tried. We finished the night off with Moose Pie and I didn't expect the pie to literally be coffee ice cream. I was bamboozled when my fork wasn't going through the pie, that's when I realized it was ice cream. We had to wait a few minutes before the ice cream soften a bit. Hahaha still it was very good and sweet. You can share this between 3 people easily. Overall, I highly recommend coming here for good food and great vibes. I can't wait to come back again!!! read more

This place was recommended by a friend who had been here when they visited Anchorage and it did not disappoint. The restaurant, atmosphere, staff, and food were all amazing. We ordered the Hawaiian style Lu-Wow and The Classic pizza and both were great. The best pizza I've ever eaten outside of New York City. Our waitress was very nice and got us what we needed quickly. We also ordered the Moose dirt pie thing for dessert (I forget the full name) it was the one with coffee ice cream, nuts, and a chocolate cookie crust. We almost at the whole thing! After eating at bad restaurants for the first 3 days of our honeymoon, this was a delightful, refreshing experience. I highly recommend it! read more

Would there generally be a wait for two people on a weekday around 2:00?

Welp, you're in Alaska
Is there a full bar? I don't drink beer. Also are there only IPAs on the menu?
They do not serve liquor, but they do serve wine in addition to about 20 beers on tap. There are a wide variety of beers other then IPA's.
Are they open during winter?
They are! You can have Moose's Tooth pizza year round
Can you make reservations?
No. Also when you show up with a larger party they will not seat you until 1/2 the party is there. Great place and worth the wait. Waiting can be 2+ hours but it was also rated 3rd best pizza in the USA.
