I think it was circa 2024 when Yelp revealed its Top 100 Elites pizzas spot based on customer experience reviews. This was my first introduction to the Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria, who placed respectably at #24. And I must say, as far as the food, it did not disappoint. We arrived with a large party, and it was extremely busy, but we got seated right away. Due to the volume of customers, the service was a bit slow as expected because of the high demand. However, when the food arrived, it was hot, fresh, and very delicious. I ordered from the veggie pizza section, particularly the Wild Mushroom Pizza, in a 10" and thin crust option. The taste, crispiness, and flavor were in the top 2% of all pizzas I've eaten spanning over five continents. It was portioned into four total slices, but I could only eat two. Most likely, it was because I had a large hummus side order, which was extremely fulfilling but very delicious. I also had a Pipeline Stout from the tap to wash it all down. Overall, these meal combinations priced out to be about $40 before tips. The 10 inch thin crust pizza felt overpriced ($15) for its size but more than made up for it in taste. Moose's Tooth is deserving of this title of the top 25 pizza spots within the United States. read more

Such a lovely place for pizzas in Anchorage. We totally loved the place. After hearing multiple recommendations for this spot we stopped by at Moose Tooth. We were seated in a few minutes and ordered their bread sticks for appetizer. The sticks were delicious and the dip was superb. For mains we for the vegetarian Popeye and Pesto Supreme half and half. The pizza was served quickly and was great. Also ordered their white and forager pizza. Of all the four options we loved the Popeye the best. A great place if you are around. I wasn't sure if this spot would live up to the hype, but I really enjoyed it. Since there was an hour long wait for takeout and a 30 minute wait for a table (around 2 on a Sunday), my husband and I decided to dine in. Be prepared that it still takes a while to get your food after you order. We shared a large pizza that was half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. There is an upcharge to do half and half which is a little annoying, but I'm glad they let you do it so that you can try more. The Amazing Apricot was my favorite. It was an interesting combination of flavors. Despite the name, it wasn't overly sweet and the chicken was delicious. The Call of the Wild was also good, but I wanted it to be a little saucier. We were both happy that we had enough for leftovers the next day. Next time, I'd probably coordinate a takeout order to be ready when I want it to cut down on the wait. Ok, so... it had been a long enough time since the last time we had been here that my husband and I had forgotten that we had vowed never to return. Additionally, it seems the owners have followed my advice and opened an additional location across town called Eye Tooth to help address some of the customer volume. We had company from out of town and were excited to share this Anchorage gem with them. I remember when I moved here 15 years ago and was introduced to this magical pizza by the doctors I work with. On busy days they would order a crap load of variety from Mooses Tooth and shower the staff with a buffet of amazing options. The range of variety is wild, and the execution was wonderful. But over the years the quality and reliability of the pizza has declined significantly. And once again, on our most recent visit we were disappointed. We were seated more promptly that unusual, and the food came faster than in recent years. But the execution was lacking. Our apricot pizza was 100% missing the apricot jam. Ive had this pizza countless times. It was totally missing. It was dry as the dessert. Tf? And the Thai pizza, while the pb wasn't missing, it was skimpy as heck. Also pretty darn dry. My husband's weirdo meat pizza with mushrooms was fine, but he just didnt like it, as I expected. If he had gotten the carnivore as I suggested, he at least would have been happy. Oh well. The only thing the family liked was their dessert except for me. I got one of their monthly specials and it was an abomination - looked fine, tasted atrocious. Chefs, please remember to taste what your making. FFS. I'm out and done with this place. Bear Tooth has my loyalty now solely bc of the odd little Theater, which is truly a gem. Great pizza, interesting and unique flavor combinations. Service is a little slow but that's because this place is always slammed with orders. My wife and I waited about 20 minutes for a table and then waited about 30 minutes for our order to arrive. We shared a half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. Both good, would get them again. Between the two, I liked the Amazing Apricot more. If I were to come back, I'd probably order take out about 30 to 45 minutes before I wanted to eat so that it was ready when I want to eat. read more

My wife had been dying to try this place and we finally got to visit on our recent trip to Anchorage. It didn't disappoint! It's clearly the happening place in town, as it was packed when we arrived for dinner and we had a short wait for a table. Wanting to make sure we got a good taste for everything, we ordered 4 different pizzas for the group ranging from thai to reindeer to a more traditional variety. All of it was excellent. Staff were really friendly. My only complaint is the type of lighting they have on the ceiling points straight down into your eyes and it's blinding, so I'd love to see them make some improvements there. We were told by a Massachusetts friend to try this spot, so we were excited and ready for a great meal. Unfortunately, we ran into a few issues during our visit. The wait was fairly long, but honestly, we didn't mind that part. Upon being seated, however, we immediately noticed that the table was incredibly small. I was trying to balance my bag and camera on what felt like a toothpick sized doll table! But seriously, we travel a lot, and I've never had to sit at such a tiny table. It made the experience feel very cramped and uncomfortable. Our waitress also seemed to disappear for long stretches. The soda pitcher had no ice, and there wasn't any ice in our glasses either, which felt like the bare minimum when you're paying for expensive nonalcoholic drinks. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer, and they weren't bad, pretty standard. For our main course, we had a gluten free pizza. It was good, but nothing particularly special. I also wish they had been a little more generous with the chicken toppings. Overall, I can't really recommend dining in here. Maybe it was just an off night, but when we're having a night out, we don't want to feel like we're sitting at a kids' table in the middle of the room. We ordered the Hawaiian style Lu-Wow and The Classic pizza and both were great. The best pizza I've ever eaten outside of New York City. Our waitress was very nice and got us what we needed quickly. But on the upside - the beers are great too and fast to arrive, so you won't be thirsty while waiting. Noise level is usually low for being so busy, but it may depend on where you end up getting seated. Let me start out by saying I usually Like Moose's Tooth. It's typically good and somewhere I tell people they should try while in Anchorage. After this experience I'm done recommending it. They really missed the mark. For starters we got my husband's usual Chipotle steak pizza. Right off the bat I notice it's a weird oval kind of shape. It's not a circle and the pieces don't add up. I'm positive that the someone in the kitchen sliced out the middle the pizza and put it in the box like it wouldn't be noticed. Worst of all. I ordered a pound of their Korean style wings. I usually love these. I thought initially that these are so tiny it's a good thing it's by the weight, not quantity. Well. These were not fit for consumption. I managed to eat two wings that were on the crunchy side. The rest were unfit for consumption. We're talking chicken wing jerky. A bite cracks right through the bone, crunchy marrow, dry translucent meat. What a disappointment. This wouldn't even be something you could feed a dog. So bad. This experience was the worst I've had with Moose's Tooth. It was so disappointing and also weird. Do better. read more

Just what you would expect and want from a pizza joint. Food - delicious. ALL IF IT. The appetizers, the salads and the pizza. This place was recommended by a couple sharing the elevator at our hotel. It was about a half mile away so we walked. Amazing how busy it was on a Sunday night around 6 pm. We were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait for a table but we were lucky to snag two seats at the bar. It was still about a 35-minute wait for our pizza but well worth the wait! The 10-inch size is perfect for a very hungry person. Could have stopped at three (of four) slices but no way was I going to leave that last slice behind. Wide selection of beer and other drinks; I had the hefeweisen and hubby had the amber, both good. We each ordered a make-your-own pizza (good selection of toppings to choose from). Crust was perfect- not too thick and not too thin with just the right amount of crunch. I am a self-proclaimed pizza snob from the east coast and I would rate this a 10/10. Service was appropriate for bar service and every employee was moving a lot to take care of both drinks and food. Understandably, it was loud inside with all the conversations going on. Definitely worth the hype! Friendly fast service, delicious food and drinks, and reasonably priced! The Berry Me In The Sunshine Cocktail and classic Margarita were both refreshing. The Mozzarella Bread Sticks were amazing and generously portioned. The Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding was the perfect end to a dinner as it was served warm with the right amount of sweetness. We loved how extensive their pizza menu was and thought The Napoleon was the best but honestly can't go wrong with any of them as their crust was perfect and not greasy at all. This review is for takeout only, and updating my previous 3 star review. We ordered buffalo chicken salad, spicy breadsticks, and carnivore pizza. The buffalo chicken salad (large) was no joke, big enough for 2+ people with leftovers. It included a massive portion of chicken with the salad, and tasted great. The small would actually be an ambitious meal for one person. The breadsticks were very tasty as well, obviously not needed with the large portion of the meals. I wasn't impressed with the carnivore pizza, however. It was on the bland side, but my kiddo sure enjoyed it. We always get chicken and this was the best chicken we've ever had on a pizza (moist and delicious)! The "unbelievable" cauliflower crust (on a second pizza) was so good that it will cause you to ask if they made a mistake. Along with waking up in subarctic temperatures, I stopped by Mooses for lunch and met Julia who took such good care of me and was an absolute sweetheart! She recommended that I get the All American bc that's just who I am, and so I ordered a small All American personal pie with a chili soup -- all for under $30 and no sales tax. Went here 7 years ago on a trip with my parents. We were looking for something to eat and drink and found this place on a whim. Didn't realize it was such a local gem. The pizzas are some of the best I've had, and the beers on tap will wet anyone's whistle. Been dreaming about it since then, and I finally got to come back this summer. It's quite loud in here so if you're expecting an intimate spot, this ain't it, at least at the section we were at, but we didn't mind one bit. The Forager was filled with veggies and I love mushrooms on my pizza. We finished the night off with Moose Pie and I didn't expect the pie to literally be coffee ice cream. I was bamboozled when my fork wasn't going through the pie, that's when I realized it was ice cream. We had to wait a few minutes before the ice cream soften a bit. When something lives up to the hype, you just have to give it its props. We arrived hungry, waited 40 minutes for a table, and the pizza did not disappoint. Perfect crust...not too thin, not too thick, just light and airy but firm enough to hold the fresh ingredients. You can hold the slice without it bending. Enough fat and grease for taste but no oil dripping all over the place. Just a perfect slice of pizza. The chicken ranch was incredible and different from other versions I've had; the ranch sauce did not overpower the rest of the ingredients. All the ingredients played together well. I ate all of it. My wife's half of the mushroom pizza was 90% consumed and she's only 95 pounds. I've never seen her eat more than one slice of pizza, until tonight. Just really delicious pizza. We get it now.
