Well now...Iditarod hit town again, and Downtown I went, with Fur Rendezvous in full swing. I watched the ceremonial start of the Last Great Race, enjoyed all the downtown fun, in the 10 degree weather, and of course headed for Hopper Bay for my annual lunch. Walked in got a booth as usual, and the place was buzzing! A new addition this year at the cafe ......Delicatessen Counter or Buffet. I asked about it, you get all you can eat soup, salad, sandwiches, cookies, and a plethora of lunch meats and condiments, for 15.00...I said OKAY!!!!!!!!!! Chicken Noodle Soup SUPERB, Tomato was great, meats were fresh the salad was fresh....talked with the Chef about his soups....he was very proud!!! :) If you stay at the Hilton, you could do alot worse...if you are in town and want a decent lunch...then stop by...it is good.

The cauliflower dish is really good! I would go back specifically for that. My kids had chicken tenders and fries, which were good also.

Everything was priced relative well. Not too expensive and not super cheap either. The bacon caramelized onion Brussel sprouts were so delicious. Straight 10/10, I would absolutely recommend. The steak was average so so. Vegetables of course do get a cold as you eat. Mashed potatoes were delicious but also average. The glacier spiked lemonade was okay. The drink wasn't too strong and had a good flavor. Wasn't anything special considering the name.

Our table started off with the brussel sprouts appetizer which was PHENOMENAL. I ordered the 2025 stout for a beer and it was very tasty. For our mains the entire table got halibut fish and chips and my son opted for the ranch pizza. The pizza was really good. The only downfall is the dish was overcooked but overall still very tasty. Our server was great and attentive. It seems to be one of the best restaurants in the area to dine. It's VERY busy so I do recommend a reservation. It has a cool brewhouse vibe to it. I don't think anyone would be disappointed dining here.

Antonio greeted me at the door and sat me in just a few minutes. I was seated at the bar counter downstairs. A dark intimate hip place. The guys behind the counter were Cory, Kendrick, and another young gentleman I didn't get the name of. They were happy people and it showed. I saw from the yelpers they had Tsukemono (Japanese pickles) and my second favorite Tsukemen (dipping noodles) . I ordered both and was pleasantly surprised to see the pork belly was perfectly roasted, the 6 1/2 min egg was on point, and the noodles and broth were absolutely amazing. I am a Tsukemen fan and this place did it right. I then ordered the matcha pancetta dessert. Whoa! Completely knocked on the floor with the flavors. This is my favorite restaurant having spent two weeks here and finding this one on my last night. Can't wait to come back. Don't hesitate to eat here.

However this was my birthday dinner so I was particularly disappointed. I reserved a table for three in the whisky bar area. We arrived about five minutes early and were told by one of the hostesses that the party at the table just paid and should be leaving soon. About 20 minutes passed before another said the party still had not left even though one of them talked to the server. Eventually I agreed to have us seated in the main dining room. Almost immediately afterward I saw two parties leave the whisky bar so I asked to be moved there, which according to one of the hostesses is where we originally supposed to be. It was over 30 minutes later when we finally got the table I reserved. This left a sour taste in my mouth and I considered leaving at one point, but I was really looking forward to this dinner. For dinner I ordered the Komorebi Old Fashioned and the Dark Horse as I often do, We also shared the whisky pork buns and everything was delicious. Dessert was not as enjoyable. I ordered their espresso martini, the Electric Stolt, which was decent enough. Lacking on the coffee flavor in my opinion. I also ordered the chocolate birthday cake which, aside from the cherries in the cake, tasted like any generic cake you would get from a grocery store. Their other desserts, like the matcha panna cotta and goma silk bar, are much more flavorable. Service overall was fine, but we got the check before my boyfriend could order another drink so we felt somewhat rushed out. Considering this is the only time I've had issues with being seated for reservations, I would go back, but this was my least pleasant dining experience here, unfortunately.

They've got a solid variety of Alaska brews on tap, way more than your average spot, so it's easy to try something new or stick with a favorite. Food is decent across the board, nothing overly fancy, but it hits the spot and pairs well with the beer. Think reliable bar food done right. Just make sure you dodge all the homeless when walking around downtown.

It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."
