[[HIGHLIGHT]]You can't miss the Club Paris neon sign when you're in downtown Anchorage. The restaurant has been around since 1967 and it definitely shows its age -- and that's part of its charm, and the inside hasn't changed much since then.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very dark inside, to the point where we had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only reservation we got was at 8:30 PM reservation on a Tuesday, and upon arriving, our server let us know the kitchen closes at 9 PM, so we had to order fairly quickly. Definitely make reservations because the restaurant is always full. We started with the fried mushrooms appetizer, which were huge and stuffed with an andouille sausage and bread stuffing which tasted ok but super filling. For our main course, we shared the filet with Alaskan king crab ($165 market price). The entree came with a salad and bread. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a good quality cut, but the crab was disappointing -- it didn't taste very fresh and had a mushy texture. For what we paid we were mostly displeased with the crab. Service was good overall, and the staff was friendly and attentive. However, for the price, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. I'm glad we tried it for our first trip to Anchorage, but I don't think we'd return. The steak was solid, but not memorable enough to justify the cost.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing quality and atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As you walk into a NY City supper club type place, you can almost picture the old time monsters sitting at a corner booth. So much character and charm![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately! I opted for the filet mignon and man oh man this did not disappoint! It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and it melted in your mouth! So much flavor! Starting off with the homemade roll was just the ticket. It's served warm and damn I could've had 10 of those guys! The loaded baked potato was cooked perfectly and fluffed just right! All in all, highly impressed!

    An Anchorage institution!

While recently visiting Anchorage my buddy suggested lunch at Club Paris. Told me they were known for their great food and service. They delivered! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Of particular note is the 'old school' ambiance. Made the experience even more memorable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back!

Perfection. Look at those grill marks! Petite filet.

Perfection. Look at those grill marks! Petite filet. Perfectly seasoned. And that bread? Anchorage landmark for a reason. Consistently amazing! When the same people work at an establishment for 20+ years you know it's good.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for an old-school, dark, and traditional steakhouse vibe, Club Paris definitely fits the bill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has that classic feel with a menu to match--think standard cuts of steak, baked potatoes, fries, and simple salads. I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato and a side of fried prawns. Everything was just okay. The steak could've used more seasoning to bring out the flavor, and the prawn batter wasn't as crispy as I expected. For dessert, I tried the sweet potato dish, which had potential--but the drizzle of Hershey's chocolate really overwhelmed the flavor and hurt the overall presentation. Overall, it's a nostalgic spot with a straightforward menu, but the execution left a bit to be desired. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Probably better for those who love that classic steakhouse atmosphere more than for the food itself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place is classic, quirky and the food is top quality. Reservations are made via telephone and open Monday morning at 9 AM for the week. It looked like plenty of people sit at the bar and have their meal there. The servers all seem to have individual personalities. The food is very good. My fresh Alaskan halibut was amazing. We saw crab legs go by a few times and they were huge. My companion had a steak that was very good. Also, we shared Key Lime pie that had a great crust. Plus the filling was not too sweet, perfect tartness. Be aware...Anchorage has a new law: anybody who orders a drink, will be carded. I was with an 87-year-old and they were not served as they did not have an ID on them.

If you don't know about this place, you are missing out. Wine menu kills. Get a big red, French onion soup, and 8 oz. filet at the bar if you are by yourself. Share the bottle and make friends. If you want a table call promptly at 3pm and leave a message. Otherwise, prepare to wait. It is worth it. Inside is classic steakhouse. Wood panel, black and white photos on the walls, carpet that makes a frat house floor look and smell like marble tile. Don't miss it!

    Burger and steak fries

First time coming here for lunch and I order the daily special burger which was a jalapeño bacon burger with fries for $17 - which for downtown Anchorage seems like a good value. I'm on a mission to find the best burgers in Anchorage and this is going to rank towards the top. The burger is made from filet mignon trimmings and the flavor was noticeably better than your typical burger. What made it for me was the garlic aioli. The steak fries were delicious too! Service was neither here nor there, but I can say I got sat quickly and served quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quite dark in the restaurant which isn't my favorite vibe but there are some windows you can sit by for more light.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe one day I'll actually splurge on a dinner here...

First thing I want to mention is reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We visited on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and got lucky with availability at the bar. Steve, bartender, was very attentive. Husband ordered the prime rib end cut and claimed it was incredible. I had the teriyaki chicken and found it delightful. Carrot cake was delicious. If you get the chance, please visit.

Club P is the spot if you are looking for Steak or anything of the sort! We came in and had the special with some onion soup and it was all deliciously. Soup was very tasty and the tenderloins were cook to perfection. I also got a side of shrimp which was delicious but it was $11 for 3 shrimp so not sure if I'd do it again. The ambiance was perfect for date night so definitely come check this place out! I hear they also have very good burgers and service for lunch!

The food was good, came here with a group of friends. It was suggested to us by some of our local friends. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the steamed clams and ate the bread and butter. It hit the spot. My friends ordered a lot of different things...mostly steak...and they enjoyed their meal. I forgot to take pictures...too much going on at the table!

Most often, I leave a steak house thinking I could make a better steak for a fraction of the price at home. This was not the case here. The service was also good, which is a nice change for the area. We live here and quite frankly, the service in the Anchorage area is usually pretty marginal. So, that was a pleasant surprise. However, the sides are quite expensive and billed as "family style" but they are a single serving really. The exception was the Parker House rolls which I think came out 5 to an order. They were pulled apart and the sides of the rolls were dry, as if they had been plated up and set under a heat lamp for too long. The risotto was prepared incorrectly. It was mushy with no hint of the classic al dente. I think if they can't take the time to cook that dish correctly, they should consider taking it off the menu as it is a marker for a good meal in my opinion. The wedge salad was pretty standard fare, with a couple of heirloom tomato slices that were also mushy (although, I can forgive that given where we live as the lettuce was crisp and nice) The other side we ordered was a special, fiddlehead ferns, served braised. They were tasty, and the best non steak item we had, but a small portion and, I think $23, which seemed quite expensive. I think the next time we go, we will just share a steak with a glass of wine and skip the overpriced 15-25 side dishes.

Hey there friends! We had an amazing dinner at the Glacier Brew house. Before I start, I will say…read morethat it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!

Carolyn had the brick oven tomato and mozzarella cheese pizza and love it. The bar had a little trouble with my drink, a Rusty Nail, but in they got it right Food is good and well prepared. Service can be a bit slow but then it was very busy. Lots of staff just busy. Great rustic interior with wood beams and open floor plan. The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. In addition to that, took about an hour for our salads and appetizers to come out. The waiter was beyond slow, and kept telling us how awful his 1st week had been and how the restaurant had run out of most of the food menu and some drinks. We had to ask for water (twice) because he kept getting sidetracked (mind you, there were probably about 2 other groups on the restaurant side). The steaks were overcooked and didn't have much flavor. Honestly, the sides were probably the only decent part of the meal (almost another 50min after salads). By this time; patience was running thin all around. When asked where their bathrooms were located; the woman (presumably a manager of some sort) proceeds to tell us about having 3 restrooms in the restaurant and how one had a hole in the wall because someone punched a hole in it (because it was Father's Day)?! and she just did her best to cover it with a piece of paper because she's not a contractor, what the heck does my knowing any of that useless information have to do with where the bathroom was located? (Still wondering...) We were definitely not impressed with this place; we asked for our desserts "to go" and they still got our order wrong. Oh- and apparently everyone else was offered bread as they waited, yet my group was not. Definitely, do not recommended, unless you're not hungry and have 1/2 a day to waste.
