This place never disappoints. I have visited the downtown location and this is just as good. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I was served within minutes of sitting. So, we stopped at their city location and enjoyed it, so while waiting for our flight, we decided to check out their airport location. Unfortunately, we were ignored for about 30 minutes before I finally got up and walked to the bar myself. The bartender was quick and helpful, which is why I gave this place 3 stars. The beer is really good, but they need to figure out their wait staff. We ended up having one beer and leaving disappointed. A pretty good spot for a quick bite before our flight. We snagged some seats at the end of the stool section. It was a little confusing whether we should order via qr code. As we were about to submit our order a waitress came over to take our order. The food was actually pretty good. We really enjoyed our Bavarian pretzel and the cheese dip was perfect. Visited the airport location while waiting on our flight home. We tried their pre check-in bar location before TSA and restaurant after. The pre check-in is pretty much a bar with limited food. Pretty much in the middle of the terminal. All items ordered at the bar area. The other location after TSA is a restaurant with full service. We sat at the bar and ordered our beers and they brought cracker jacks like snack. I thought it was very good. I ordered the loaded supreme flatbread and my wife got the seafood chowder and a wedge salad. Both were very good for airport food. My flatbread was tasty and I was able to split my wife's salad. I had 4+ hours to kill, so I stopped by the 49th State Brewing before airport security, not knowing that on the other side was a location as well (this one seemed way busier). I tried one of their IPAs which was a great beer - the food on the other hand was just okay. I tried the Yak Smash Burger ($28.99 - Locally raised Alaska yak has a delicate, juicy flavor. Housemade burger topped with caramelized onions, honeypepper applewood smoked bacon and smoked Gouda cheese. Served with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, pickles and mayo on a pretzel bun). Not sure why they call it a smash burger as it was just a regular burger. It was decent, but for some reason I was expecting a little more with the description of the ingredients; it tasted pretty bland. Didn't particularly like the pretzel bun, as it was pretty chewy and dense and I think the pickles were missing. The fries were good. I'm so glad to see that 49th State Brewing opened an airport location. I had a chance to stop by before my flight and was not disappointed. I got my all-time favorite pretzel and my favorite "Smok" beer to-go, which was such a nice treat before traveling. They had a great selection of beers and ciders on tap, and we were able to order some of our favorites from our trip. We sat down and waited about 10min until a waitress came by. Its pretty slow, we got in around 715pm or so from Kodiak. The table tops are very high from sitting. I had to raise my arms up to eat my chicken sandwich. My husband id 6'1" and he even says its freakishly high. Weird design choice. The korean chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The chicken patty seemed very freezer burnt and the crispness is gone. The sauce didnt seem korean at all. The fries were good up until I started chewing on dirt fries. At first I thought it was from the fry sauce but it wasn't. The fry I ate literally tasted like dirt. After a couple more fries that didnt taste like dirt, I came across another one, spit it out and had to stop eating altogether. The 49th state burger was good. Overcooked but the patty was beefy. The horseradish pickles were thick and juicy. Good flavor. Didn't get to try beer this time around. read more

I enjoy a good IPA, but mixed it up with other varieties. All four were excellent, but the Most Coast pilsner and Raspberry Blonde were remarkable. Service was decent, reasonably attentive for a busy and crowded airport location, and the upscale Alaskan brew pub ambiance almost allowed me to forget I was marking time until boarding my flight. Prices were not unreasonable, comparable to outside restaurants. I usually get good service here at the Ted Stevens Airport and come here a lot because I travel for work. Now I go back and forth to Anchorage for medical. I ordered my Yak burger and beer, but not once did the server ever came over and asked how the food was or if I needed another drink. I usually get 2 beers with my food but did not get the chance to. The restaurant wasn't busy and hardly anyone there. I noticed the server smile to the white customers, but when she looked at me, it felt that she did not want me there because I am native. We had several hours to wait until we could check our bags with the airline, so we decided to wait here while nursing a beer or soda. I decided to order some chicken noodle soup for help fighting my cold, and a Spruce Tip soda. Both were amazingly delicious. Soup was almost as good as my own, and carrots in the soup were not machine cut - someone had cut them up in nice slices. Chicken was chunky pieces in the broth, and wide noodles were great. The soda was also very tasty - like a Sprite but with a hint of evergreen flavor. Hubby liked his beer - a pale lager - and we enjoyed sitting people watching in one of the quaintest airports I've visited. Our waitress was young, polite and friendly - perfect for travelers who just stopped in. In order to comply with state law, she politely asked my husband for his ID, and he was extremely flattered - he has never been carded before!! I got the airport early and the counter wasn't open for another hour so I stopped into 49th to kill some time. Got a flight. All four beers were excellent. The bartender also gave me some popcorn. Carmel and jalapeño popcorn that's made with their Smōk beer. It was delicious! And paired well with the Smōk beer which I had ordered to try. The bartender was awesome! Overall, great experience.
