I'm so glad to see that 49th State Brewing opened an airport location. I had a chance to stop by before my flight and was not disappointed. I got my all-time favorite pretzel and my favorite "Smok" beer to-go, which was such a nice treat before traveling. The service was a bit slow when I was there, but to be fair, compared to many other airport restaurants, it really wasn't too bad. Overall, it was a great airport stop, and I'm happy to see one of my favorite local breweries available there. read more

We sat down and waited about 10min until a waitress came by. Its pretty slow, we got in around 715pm or so from Kodiak. The table tops are very high from sitting. I had to raise my arms up to eat my chicken sandwich. My husband id 6'1" and he even says its freakishly high. Weird design choice. The korean chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The chicken patty seemed very freezer burnt and the crispness is gone. The sauce didnt seem korean at all. The fries were good up until I started chewing on dirt fries. At first I thought it was from the fry sauce but it wasn't. The fry I ate literally tasted like dirt. After a couple more fries that didnt taste like dirt, I came across another one, spit it out and had to stop eating altogether. The 49th state burger was good. Overcooked but the patty was beefy. I usually get good service here at the Ted Stevens Airport and come here a lot because I travel for work. Now I go back and forth to Anchorage for medical. I ordered my Yak burger and beer, but not once did the server ever came over and asked how the food was or if I needed another drink. I usually get 2 beers with my food but did not get the chance to. The restaurant wasn't busy and hardly anyone there. I noticed the server smile to the white customers, but when she looked at me, it felt that she did not want me there because I am native. After visiting their Denali and Anchorage locations during our trip, we ended up stopping by their airport location on our way home. They had a great selection of beers and ciders on tap, and we were able to order some of our favorites from our trip. They also sold cans to-go to take home - great because we'd just brought carry-ons and hadn't been able to buy any earlier on our trip. Didn't order the food, but it looked good from what we saw. We had several hours to wait until we could check our bags with the airline, so we decided to wait here while nursing a beer or soda. I decided to order some chicken noodle soup for help fighting my cold, and a Spruce Tip soda. Both were amazingly delicious. Soup was almost as good as my own, and carrots in the soup were not machine cut - someone had cut them up in nice slices. Chicken was chunky pieces in the broth, and wide noodles were great. The soda was also very tasty - like a Sprite but with a hint of evergreen flavor. Hubby liked his beer - a pale lager - and we enjoyed sitting people watching in one of the quaintest airports I've visited. Our waitress was young, polite and friendly - perfect for travelers who just stopped in. In order to comply with state law, she politely asked my husband for his ID, and he was extremely flattered - he has never been carded before!! Had dinner here before the flying out of Anchorage. It's a seat-yourself restaurant in the airport with casual atmosphere. It was still busy even if it's already 9:30 PM. After seating ourselves, our server came. Service was not bad but it was busy and there were only a few servers around. Carmel and jalapeño popcorn that's made with their Smōk beer. It was delicious! And paired well with the Smōk beer which I had ordered to try. The bartender was awesome! Overall, great experience. I prefer medium rare burgers, but understood that they cook everything to well. That took away some of my burger enjoyment. It was still flavorful but just not my preference. Fries were plentiful and pretty good. My dining partner got the chicken, bacon and ranch flatbread. It was a large portion and it was worth the price. The restaurant was not very clean. It did not appear that the female employee, who took our order had much help. She was very pleasant but had to stock shelves, sweep and clean tables by herself. Overall, the restaurant exceeded my expectations for airport food. Their cider was very good and the blueberry creme soda was great (although the sugar content is crazy high). We waited a long time for half of our tables order, had to ask for the remaining order, waited another 30 mins and had to ask again. Once I got my Elk Burger, the inside of the patty was cold and not cooked. While they took the item off the receipt, the point of sitting down with your party is to eat together. Loved the ambience and the style of the space in the airport for the 49th state. The bar has this great way of giving affirmations and messages wound up and displayed for the beer items listed. My friend who travels frequently mentioned their house made soda pops are awesome. I went for the raspberry section and it was delicious! Service was lovely Michelle at the bar was sweet and helpful and offered suggestions for how to serve the meals. Pretty delicious options and great beer flight! The prices are quite high with chowder $10-16 and an entree $18-25. There's some lower priced items about $10-15. However, the food is absolutely worth it and tastes great. Fresh, about 20 minutes so perfect for those with a flight a lot later in the day. Open seating so choose your meal and drink and sit down for the items to be served to you. A relaxed atmosphere and great tasting food. The bun on the elk burger was good and the meat itself was filling and dense. I shared this meal with another person and was pretty full afterwards. read more
