    Tuna with crispy rice
    Vivian U.

I was here twice within a week - not necessarily by choice because the entrees are pricey but I didn't mind because the food was very good. I have now tried the scallop Mac and cheese and the tuna crispy rice appetizer. The Mac and cheese was such a gigantic portion - I knew I couldn't and shouldn't finish it but it was so good! I loved the truffle taste and the scallops tasted fresh. As a result I didn't have enough room to try the desserts hence the reversal of plans the next chance I got. The crispy rice really wasn't much - 3 bites was all - but pairing it with the ginger and pear cheesecake was perfect for me. It was mouth watering just thinking about the food again, yum! The one star I took off was for the drinks: I tried the ginger mojito and the pog tai. They were just ok with too much ice. But the presentation was nice, so was the service.

It's been a long time since I've been to Ginger, and I'm glad to have gone back. The restaurant had a limited entree menu, which I actually appreciate. If you have a handful of entrees executed very well, I find that more appealing than a ten-page menu where your meal is kind of 'meh'. We started with cocktails and the crispy pork egg rolls, which were delicious. For entrees, we went with the scallop Mac-n-cheese and the mee krob. The macaroni was cooked well, the sauce uber cheesy, and the scallops seared to perfection. The mee krob was spicy and flavorful. Super hearty portions of both. Our waiter was very nice and took good care of us as we lingered over our meal. Definitely an enjoyable experience!

Very clean, cute restaurant, with delicious food. As an appetizer we got the pork fried eggrolls, everyone liked them. For dinner I ordered the Kobe cheeseburger add jalepenos (yum!) and my parents got the scallops mac n cheese, they said it was the best they've ever had. My server had a warm personality and no one's drink got below 1/2 ways before being refilled. I will be back, there's more on the menu I want to try!

Anchorage isn't, perse, a haven for vegetarians so when you find a nice spot that at least has something on the menu it's worth a try. The vegan curry on their menu is what brought my wife and me in to this spot, one of the nicer restaurants in town. The cocktail menu was also enticing with great names and combinations of things begging to be sampled. I started with the Carthusian Coconut Cocktail. This was generally disappointing both in look and taste...Filling up about about a third of a cocktail glass it looked like more of a shot of a clear spirit with a lemon peel included. With all kinds of fun things listed in the menu that were included it ended up tasting like water down Mezcal without really any discernable coconut or other flavors listed in the drink's ingredients. Our server offered to fix or replace it but after he came back with a report from the bartender that "any modifications would ruin the drink" I opted to stick with water and my entree. We both got the vegan curry with no modifications. It tasted great and was filling, served over rice. Looked beautiful too. I would have liked it a tiny bit more spicy as it was on the mild side of things. There weren't any other vegetarian mains on the menu but the curry was filling enough. Our server had a great sense of humor, took care of us well, and didn't charge us for the drink which we sent back. I wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu and would hesitate to try another drink after the bartender's declaration about the one we sent back.

Didn't need to make reservations Saturday at 6pm. Place was 50% full. Waiter was very kind. Plum wine was very sweet. Like a Moscato wine. Quite a lot for $8. About 5 shots. Fried chicken was 10/10. Boneless. Great breading and not spicy. Ribs were sooooo tender. Sauce was not spicy, or too sweet. But Very red. 9/10. Sesame ginger salad was great 10/10.

Ginger remains a classic staple in downtown Anchorage - and for good reason. The food is consistent and delicious, the waitstaff is kind, and the drink menu is solid. Although I wish they changed up their menu more often, I enjoy myself every time I dine here and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Really nice vibe, some great food. Not super sure what the unifying "identity" of this place is but the dishes are good, even if they're clearly very different from the original Asian inspirations.

Wow I am honestly mad at myself for not coming here sooner! WTF this is a hidden gem! Good beers, full bar and phenomenal food! Meet the owner and he is amazing, caring and kind and genuinely cares. The place is well kept and just so cool. They even have some photos taken by a local photographer Shalem. The gingerbread man in the toaster with another one laughing maniacally is amazing. The food was just stupid good i got the General Tsoanders Chicken how will i ever try anything else after eating this. I could go back and eat this day in and day out! My beautiful wife see photo. Got the Mac and Cheese so good. Honestly get this and then use a noodle to scrape the bottom of General Tsoanders Chicken and get that sauce. It's so good together. We got the green tea crème brûlée. It was great. Wish i had a second stomach sometimes today was one of those times. Wish we could have had more. We will be back again and again! next time we will hit up the bar to try some of the appetizers that just looked smoking good!

Great experience at Ginger while visiting Anchorage! The bar side seemed to be open seating. Service was a bit slow on this side, but likely due to the bar. Ambiance was chic and modern. Cocktails: Strong and delicious Food: presentation was nice, good portion sizes, and tasty selections. Ordered the spicy tuna tower (fresh ahi, but could've used more marinate / flavor), chicken wings (delicious sauce and 9 wings), chicken lettuce wraps (good flavor and texture with curry sauce), tacos (from the bar menu, pretty large and delicious), and the fresh spring rolls (cilantro jalapeño sauce was great and not too spicy). Reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes.

If you're looking for a modern restaurant with a great menu, then this is the perfect place. This restaurant has tasteful food with great flavor. The design and aesthetic is modern and up to date with a warm feel. The cuisine is Asian styled. The General Tsoanders is easily the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. It is seasoned well, served over jasmine rice and pickled ginger-habanero cucumbers. Highly recommend, 5/5. Spicy Tuna tower for the appetizer was another great dish. The wasabi aioli is a great compliment alongside the fresh tuna and fried wonton crisps. Definitely recommend, 4/5. The crispy risotto Gouda balls were fine. There was a great crunch and flavor from the sweet chili aioli. The risotto itself was flavorless. Recommend, 3/5. The drinks, both times, were good. I had a Spanish coffee as a pick me up and it was very tasteful. Drinks, 5/5 recommend. The service was really good, the staff seemed friendly both times and were able to assist me with prior reservations requests. Overall, I would recommend Ginger to all who are local and are visiting, it's a must visit!

I wrote a previous review based on in-car dining experience. On this occasion, it's my Birthday, and wanted to come and dine-in at Ginger, having had such beautiful food from them last time. We had made a reservation, and were greeted very nicely by the hostess, and taken to a table - it would not have been my 1st choice for a table, as it was kind of behind a barrier. Husband looked a bit disgruntled by it to be honest. Our server offered to seat us at another table, but we'd already gotten settled by then - but I'm giving her extra points for offering. I got a house-made ginger ale, which caused great consternation when i elected to have it with no ice. It was recommended that i have it on ice. I told them that, as an English person, our default is "no ice in drinks" yeah yeah #sorrynotsorry #ilikewhatilike and she brought it with no ice for me, but also brought some ice in a glass *just in case* I'm just saying, it was perfect as is, un-iced. I ordered the strawberry chili salad, which has candied walnuts, strawberries, onions, butter leaf hearts in a sweet chili cilantro dressing - the dressing was to die for, however, I'd have liked a bigger salad. I also ordered the Pommes Frites - another Englishism - in England, salad and fries often come together as your side, and i love them served together, and I do in fact dump my fries on top of my salad. They each enhance the other's flavours. The Pommes Frites are served with a Wasabi Aioli dip. Last time i had this dip, the wasabi wasn't nearly as noticeable, but on this occasion, it was a better nostril hit. I love wasabi, and it was evident in the aioli. Not overpowering but you knew it was there. Husband got the Panang Beef Curry. May i just say - it was absolutely fantastic, and I'll be having it next time. He let me try some, while he bummed some of my fries, and i did not want to hand it back to him. Absolutely superbly balanced flavours in that sauce, creamy, yet tangy, richly layered, and addictive. I know I will be dreaming about it, till i can go back and have some all to myself. The beef was tender. The vegetables, mushrooms, peanuts, bean sprouts - all retained texture, and were cooked perfectly. This tasted highly authentic to me. Panang is something i often get in Thai restaurants, but this has BY FAR been my favourite. The complexity of the flavour. Perfectly seasoned. Excellent vegetable texture. Superb. As you know (if you read my reviews) I'm not a dessert person, i rarely eat sweet things. I can get fat really well on savoury alone. There was a tempting sounding bananas foster egg roll. When i eat a dessert, it will almost always be banana based. But still, i was too full. If i ever get a dessert here, it will be that one. Service was excellent, and very attentive. The food came out pretty fast. Love it.

Underrated place. Great food, both mild and a bit spicy options, nothing like Thai spicy, of course. Best service and beautiful decorations.

Our server was nice and informative and our dishes were served in a timely fashion. We each had a salad and shared a pizza. The dough was DELICIOUS, and the salads were fresh and didn't taste like bagged lettuce which is refreshing. We did have to wait an extremely long time to find our server at the end then even longer to find him again to pay our tab, which is why only four stars but we will for sure go back.

Our table had the following: 6 oysters Rockefeller, 1 fried calamari, a half size blackened halibut Cesar salad, a grilled ribeye steak and an Alaskan halibut fish and chips. Food notes: the oysters were super fresh and delicious, perfectly cooked so that they were only broiled on top and still almost rare below. However the toppings could've been improved with better bacon, and maybe a touch more spinach. Even a small dollop of Béarnaise sauce would've been better than the Parmesan. Nevertheless this was probably my favorite bite of the night. The halibut on the fish & chips was also fresh flaky and really tender. The chips were like thin steak fries that had been battered but were still under seasoned. They weren't great, and no one ate them even our toddler who loves fries. The blackened halibut on the salad was tougher, and dry. There were too many store-bought croutons and the salad dressing was possibly store-bought too and bland for a Cesar. The ribeye was totally sad. It was quite thin and unimpressive especially for the cost. It came with more of those dismal fries and some plain broccolini. Our steak-loving dinner companion only ate about half and didn't care to doggy-bag the rest so it went to waste. Calamari was average, and came with two oily amateur-chef looking sauces, one mayo flavored and one somewhat spicer was basically the same as the first. Our excellent waiter mixed up a cocktail sauce himself that blew the other sauces out of the water. Bravo to him. He was the best while waiting on us also, quick to refill a water or retrieve more drinks from the bar. Good thing the Rockefeller was great, I'd be back for that alone ($6/per oyster) but otherwise I don't think I'd rush back to Fletcher's. Many other eateries in the area that are tastier, with equally difficult parking.
