A few hits and misses here. I liked the ambiance, it's like an old-timey "upscale" British pub. The menu is large and inviting with lots of good looking eats. Our table had the following: 6 oysters Rockefeller, 1 fried calamari, a half size blackened halibut Cesar salad, a grilled ribeye steak and an Alaskan halibut fish and chips. Food notes: the oysters were super fresh and delicious, perfectly cooked so that they were only broiled on top and still almost rare below. However the toppings could've been improved with better bacon, and maybe a touch more spinach. Even a small dollop of Béarnaise sauce would've been better than the Parmesan. Nevertheless this was probably my favorite bite of the night. The halibut on the fish & chips was also fresh flaky and really tender. The chips were like thin steak fries that had been battered but were still under seasoned. They weren't great, and no one ate them even our toddler who loves fries. The blackened halibut on the salad was tougher, and dry. There were too many store-bought croutons and the salad dressing was possibly store-bought too and bland for a Cesar. The ribeye was totally sad. It was quite thin and unimpressive especially for the cost. It came with more of those dismal fries and some plain broccolini. Our steak-loving dinner companion only ate about half and didn't care to doggy-bag the rest so it went to waste. Calamari was average, and came with two oily amateur-chef looking sauces, one mayo flavored and one somewhat spicer was basically the same as the first. Our excellent waiter mixed up a cocktail sauce himself that blew the other sauces out of the water. Bravo to him. He was the best while waiting on us also, quick to refill a water or retrieve more drinks from the bar. Good thing the Rockefeller was great, I'd be back for that alone ($6/per oyster) but otherwise I don't think I'd rush back to Fletcher's. Many other eateries in the area that are tastier, with equally difficult parking. read more

Walked in around 4:20/4:30, music was cool, not too loud, seemed laidback.. the bar was more than halfway full and there was only like 2-4 tables in the restaurant. Wishing 30-45 minutes after we arrived, it was almost full. Chase was our server, very good with reading the vibes. We told him we were going to chill for a few hours till our flight and he checked in at the perfect times or always noticed if i was looking in his direction and when needed something. Bacon Shrimp was DELISH. Calamari was not as crispy was we expected but was yummy, I like the red bell pepper sauce more. Fletcher's was nice! I had a Seared Alaskan Cod and my dad got an Alaskan Halibut & Chips. Both very good! I also had a mocktail Nojito which was great! Juicy Cod. Lovely potatoes. Just getting back from Denali Alaska and stayed overnight at Captain Cooks hotel and really wanted a great dinner. Well, we were not wrong with picking Fletchers! Jimmy was our server and he was super cool. Took great care of all our needs! We first order a bottle of Chardonnay that was excellent and for my main course I ordered the Beef Stroganoff. This entire was incredible with huge chucks of tender beef and an incredible sauce with the noodles! The venue had an Old English Pub vibe that made you feel like you were special! Highly recommend stopping in any time & getting a drink & some food. Everything I've tried on the menu has been good. We did have a couple one offs but for the most part consistent. Seafood chowder good, stuffed prawns app good, Cod street tacos absolute must. Ribeye best bang for your buck. I'm a fan of the blueberry lemon drop drink. We've stopped in different days & times. During weekend service was little slower & also pending on bartender. Best server is the taller thin guy with blonde shave hair believe he works the back area. We had planned on stopping at the Bar upstairs, but our timing was off so we decided to swing into Fletcher's instead. There was a line out the door to be seated, but it went quite fast they were doing a great job at getting folks in the hostess was super nice! The ambiance was nice as well, a mix of folks that were clearly travelers and a handful of people that looked like they were long time regulars. Our server was nice and informative and our dishes were served in a timely fashion. We each had a salad and shared a pizza. The dough was DELICIOUS, and the salads were fresh and didn't taste like bagged lettuce which is refreshing. We did have to wait an extremely long time to find our server at the end then even longer to find him again to pay our tab, which is why only four stars but we will for sure go back. read more

Ok, not to sound delusional, but this place has one of the best burgers I've ever had. To my party and I, Alaska had its share of pretty bland food. However, the burgers here are so, so good. They were so good we ate dinner here and the next day came back for dinner again. The staff were all quick and friendly. It is a super small place, though, and they don't take reservations so try to not go at a peak hour (like 5-6pm). They had 2 televisions playing sports above the bar. I will also say most of their menu's prices were significantly cheaper than some of the places nearby which was a major reason we stopped to eat here versus some of the other places. It was our first time dinning at Fletcher's and it certainly won't be our last! Fletchers is located on the opposite end of the building from the front desk area and The Whales Tail. They're open literally all day, (11:30am - 12am) to both the public and guests of the hotel. The space reminds me of a mix between Glacier Brew and Orso. You can dress up or you can dress down. There's a long bar top and plenty of tables. The kitchen/grill is viewable from some seats. We were headed to a concert so were stopping in for drinks and apps. We settled on a margarita that was pretty amazing, seafood chowder, stuffed crab bites and halibut tacos. Presentation was 10/10, taste was also 10/10. Our server was on it in every way. We never waited long. Drinks were always refilled. We cannot wait to return to try more off their menu. read more

We arrived at the Captain Cook Hotel after 9 p.m. and 17 hours of traveling. There wasn't much nearby and we were exhausted. Of the dining choices, we chose Fletcher's because it had a small but varied menu. The dining room is tiny, holding about 20 or so. And it had a very pub-like decor. Adult daughter got the the halibut fish and chips ($34). I got the appetizer halibut street tacos ($20), and hubby got a 12-inch pizza ($22) with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, prosciutto, and basil (hold the basil). The pizza was too salty for me; but given the toppings, it made sense. The crust was thin and crispy. My tacos were tiny and tasty. And the halibut fish and chips dish was really good, with well-seasoned crispy fries. They messed up and put basil on the pizza, so we picked as much of it off as possible. Our server, Jimmy, who was very amicable, apologized (we told him after we had started eating it), and gave us complimentary desserts. We shared their version of a baked Alaska and a creme brulee. Both were scrumptious. We had cold leftovers for breakfast: pizza and fries (which were still really good cold). It was a good first meal for us in Alaska. One of my favorite places in Anchorage. I travel up there about three times a year. Last time my wife and I visited we were in town to attend the AK Federation of Natives convention Banquet. This time we had a very bizarre encounter. After the banquet, we went to fletchers and had a drink before heading up to our room. My BG alarm stated sounding after a very long day. I check my number and it was very low. Wife asked for the check, but bar tender was sort of rude and walked away. We sat there until he came back and she asked again. He mumbled something and then told her to F@ck off. I got up and he jumped on the phone. This was very weird. She was polite to him, and his response to her came out of no where. I didn't make it a big deal but the people who we met and sat at our table were in shock! They were Natives from lower 48 tribes. Personally, as a former ak resident, and Alaska Native, I was wondering if this guy should be working there. He should probably be working at one of the bars on 4th ave, not a classy spot like Fletcher's my favorite place. I did snap a photo of him. He's luck that's all he got. . read more

We wanted to extend the last night of our Alaskan vacation a bit so after dinner we headed to Fletcher's a restaurant/bar inside the Captain Cook hotel for a famous "Baked Alaska" and a drink. The place (like most of the lobby areas of the Captain Cook" feels like Anchorage history. It's upscale old-school...you really feel like you're somewhere. I'm a fan of locally distilled spirits and, unlike another corporately owned hotel chain bar nearby, they had a locally distilled bourbon on hand. I tried it - 50 Fathoms Bourbon from Hanes Alaska...a neat shot and it was great. My wife and I shared the baked Alaska, dessert, because we didn't feel it would be appropriate for us to leave the state without ever having tried one. It came out quick and gave us the impression that it had already been prepared, whereas we heard tales of baked Alaska at other restaurants that are prepared to order and were made with ice cream as their base. This one had a moose as its base and it was OK. I like the chocolate layer, my wife didn't love it, and I wish that our one example of a baked Alaska had been a little more special and somewhere else. There are a few vegetarian options on the menu if you want to eat here and that's your diet, including a summer berry salad and some pizzas, but not much else to offer without having to modify existing items. Our server was very attentive and very friendly. We definitely come back and have a drink here again. read more

I went with family and friends to Fletcher's in the Hotel Captain Cook for Thanksgiving meal around lunch time. Fletcher's is located in the southeast corner of the hotel on the ground floor facing 5th Ave and I St. The restaurant is named after Fletcher Christian, the leader who overthrew Captain Bligh in Mutiny On The Bounty back in 1789, a nice touch in keeping with the nautical theme of the hotel. The dining area and bar have a more upscale look to match the hotel with dark wood paneled counters and cozy booths with soft velvet-cushioned benches if you're sitting against the wall. The place had a big turnout for the holiday and the servers were very busy but friendly. We were directed to the far end of the dining room where we were seated against the wall on the velvet-cushioned benches. We were given two ordering options: the regular menu or the Thanksgiving Day special. The choice with everyone at the tables was unanimous. We all ordered the traditional Thanksgiving menu special (Sliced Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Green Beans, and Candied Yams with choice of Pumpkin, Pecan, or Sour Cream Apple Pie for dessert). We didn't wait long for our orders despite the growing crowd of diners. Everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving meal although I wasn't a fan of the Stuffing. (I shamelessly admit that Stovetop Stuffing will always be my favorite, no matter where I have Thanksgiving meal). Most of us ordered the Pumpkin Pie for dessert but I had to go off the beaten path and try the Sour Cream Apple Pie. At first I wasn't sure given the name, but my first bite dissolved all doubts; it was amazing. The sour cream had a thick texture that was perfect with slices of baked apples and plenty of cinnamon flavor inside. The Pumpkin Pie was just as good. Everyone was full and enjoyed their meal. Fletcher's is a great option for a Thanksgiving meal. read more

I went here a few weeks ago and absolutely adored everything I had here! I had a couple of their alcoholic beverages, then my bf and I shared the baked Alaska and trust me when I say this the most delicious dessert I've had this year....wow. Incredible and decadent. It was SO GOOD that I insisted we stop by fletchers again before we left for our job later that week haha! I'd leave a photo of the baked Alaska but unfortunately it was too good.. I also really enjoyed fletchers because the waitstaff were kind and polite. Perfectly professional. Amazing! Inside the Captain Hook hotel, this nice restaurant offers top quality dishes. Service was offered by multiple servers-order quickly taken, water was kept refilled, and food came in a very timely manner. The small Caesar salad was a good size. Freshly grated Parmesan cheese and very fresh dressing. Husband had the larger salad with ranch dressing, which was obviously homemade. Large portion. Chowder was brought in a large bowl and was very creamy and flavorful. I had the Lasagna Bolognese. Wow! Large flat spinach pasta was about an inch wide and so tender. Mixed with tons of ground prosciutto, carrots, marinara and Alfredo sauce, this dish was so tasty and delicious! It was served with 2 pieces of super soft bread, although it wasn't seasoned. Very impressed with this restaurant. Highly recommend! Love that you can see the area where the food is prepared. Oh and the pizza must be good..when they brought it out to another table, they were oohing and awwing about it for about a minute saying how great it was! read more

The seating hostess was amazing at accommodating our fairly size party at the very last minute. We arrived at a later time and she made sure that we were taken cared of and that our requests were met. She definitely went above and beyond. It was our waiters birthday and he did an amazing job at making sure that we were taken cared of. We had a great time thanks to him and his impeccable service! The ambiance is nice. It's very warm and inviting. We love the entire feel of the restaurant. The cocktails kept us cozy and they were made perfectly. I recommend the black Manhattan-delicious! The food was pretty good. A bunch of us ordered the special that night ( well done prime rib, mushroom risotto and a side of broccolini. It was good, the prime rib could use a bit more seasoning but it was a dinner special..so our expectations were- eh. We just figured it's a bulk deal type of dinner special and it sort of was. Great price though. The fries were amazing! The sides of the other meals that had fries were huge. All I can say is Delicious!! Absolutely Wonderful atmosphere Tasty food and my new favorite place for Caesar Salad. We came downtown 11/5 to get a bite to eat and watch a little bit of the World Series and headed to Fletchers, grabbed 2 seats at the bar. We ordered two beers that were very reasonably priced at $6 for a pint and you don't find those prices anywhere in Anchorage and for an IPA! We ordered a pizza and Caesar salad and the pizza was wonderful, now let's talk about the salad.. this is my new favorite place to get Caesar Salad if I have to call and get it to go I will. I'll definitely be coming back in on a regular basis. The service is excellent on top of the food and the price we're totally worth stopping in especially in a hotel. read more

Absolutely awesome place! Our hosts brought us here and apparently this restaurant has long been in their family's traditions. You can find it right in town with plenty of parking all around. Myelin showed us to our table, with a beautiful view, so from the beginning to the end we were well taken care of. My wife and I stopped by Fletcher's for lunch on our last day of our Anchorage trip. It was a wonderful experience, made ideal by our server (I believe his name was Marko). The young man was covering the bar area and a handful of tables of people eating lunch, and did so efficiently and with a smile. I had the chowder and a steak sandwich, and my wife had thief halibut and chips. All of the food was well prepared, the soup came out hot and tasty, and the pricing was reasonable at about $35 per person all in, including tax and tip. The atmosphere is a bit dark unless you sit by the windows, it's a pub style wood themed setting. We would certainly return, however this is likely our one trip to Alaska. read more

I ordered the Sicilian through Grub Hub . Upon receipt, my lunch was cold. You can tell by the congealed cheese in the photo. I still ate it; but it would have been much better if it were hot... or even warm. I can't fault Fletcher's for that though. Their food always exceeds my expectations and I love the decor too. There is clearly no shortage of toppings! I know now the "meat sweats" are real. Recommendation: go pick it up instead of ordering off of an app. You'll save yourself a lot of money! Generally disappointed in the food for the price and quality given previous reviews. However, would say the quality was on par with the Pantry (for breakfast) which had already underwhelmed us twice during our stay. My partner had the stroganoff special and I a Cobb salad and chowder. The chowder had been heavy handed with onion that distracted from the seafood flavor, and the Cobb was smaller than advertised by the wait staff, had flavorless dressing and left a pool of water in the bottom of the bowl by the time it was finished. The banana pudding was the highlight of the meal, but far from what I would call "classic". I would call the ambiance more TGI Friday's than classic chop/steakhouse. Will not return. read more
