The restaurant is very pretty on the outside with a bright, sunny yellow and very pretty flowers and ferns. It was quite busy inside and outside. However, we got a table. It did take a moment to get noticed but once it happened our servers were very attentive. Their halibut fish and chips were very much enjoyed by my husband. We shared a Caesar salad that was very good. I had the best poke bowl I've ever had. There was what I think is a mango chutney, avo, edamame, rice, fried wontons...I asked for wasabi and soy sauce which was a perfect tangy zest. It was so pretty that I took a pic so that I might try to replicate at home. We really enjoyed the meals and the atmosphere. The good; everything! The place was immaculate; seating of about 50 and not an open seat by 11:45 on a Thursday. The staff moved through the crowd and around each other like it was choreographed. It's alright. This place was formerly known as the Bradley House and...I still don't understand the re-brand? Everything feels very similar. Above average ambiance. Mediocre taps. (what is up with this trend taking over Anchorage where Matanuska/King Street are the only breweries on tap? They are the most mediocre breweries in town and...we have many others that are much better!) I got a steak salad off hours, it was delicious. But, at $19 it was also overpriced. The steak salad at Tent City Taphouse is larger, tastier, and cheaper. This one really left me wanting another. Might be worth a visit if you're already in this area, I wouldn't make a special trip here though. read more

We were with friends trying to decide where to go on Friday night knowing it would probably be very difficult to get in somewhere at 6-7 but we thought heck let's give it a try... We drove into the packed parking lot and on this gorgeous night we wanted to sit outside so went to the patio and there was plenty of seats. Today was our first visit to Manhattan Restaurant & Lounge. We arrived shortly after opening. The place was mostly dead but their space I'd describe as light, bright, and welcoming. Lots of windows and a great space for outdoor dining. They have a great food menu with an even better drink menu. Our waitress was welcoming, kind and apologetic but we lost her shortly into our meal. We were very grateful for the awareness and eye contact of their incredible male bartender. He kept our drinks coming. He is amazing and should be recognized. Food was great. Wings were perfectly seasoned and crisp. Chicken fried steak was quality. Our burger patty was cooked well while also not being dry. We have no real complaints outside the service, but we understand it's been hard for businesses to keep employees. Employers have had to deal with less than, and in turn, we as customers have to deal with less than, it is what it is. Haha read more

We were out early Saturday morning running some errands and sour of the moment wanted a nice brunch. Went to Sputh to find out there was over an hour wait so moved on. Manhattans was close and we were hungry. Ambiance was nice and there was as no wait. It was bustling inside and people seemed to be enjoying their food. Hubby ordered chicken fried steak fast which was huge and came with a rich cream sauce. It was pretty tasty. I ordered the French dip with clam chowder. Neither was spectacular and both were good. I have had better. Mom ordered clam Alfredo appetizer since she can't eat a lot. Both hubby and I tasted and it was really bad. So bad if I had ordered I would have sent it back. Just tasted off like canned clams and very foul. Overall I would go back on a sunny day to enjoy cocktails outside and be careful as to what I would order. Did they just do a name change? The food was OK! It was decent but not amazing. Portions are huge. Their fries were really crispy though - I did enjoy those a lot. Service - they need to work on. Its opening seating and their servers seem to not communicate with one another on who has which table. I was at the table for 15 mins before someone walked over and said they thought someone else had our table. Weird that they don't even greet you upon arrival? I even looked the guy behind the bar dead in the eye - and they still never said hello or let me know someone would be with us soon. read more

Excellent menu and consistently great service. It's small on the inside but never have been unable to get a table even on busy days. It's a local favourite (used to be called Bradley house until a few years ago but still most of the familiar menu items are available). In the summer they switch the menu up a bit and often have really fresh specials and seafood. I love that they have a lettuce wrap burger and healthy options. I don't often go for fried food but their calamari and fried chicken are different in that they use panko which makes a huge difference to me as far as taste and how it hits my hips! I'm not sure what type of oil they use but it's not overly greasy. Now that I think about it I will ask next time I'm in. Also in the summer they have a lovely renovated deck to sit out and catch the late night sun while enjoying a tasty beverage (excellent adult drinks if you are looking for that) and delicious food. read more

Service 1/5 - Our waitress was a bit grouchy and frankly did not seem to like us very much. She acted like she had no time for us and was ready for us to leave the whole time. My gf's ketchup had a hair in it and our server acted like it was our fault that it came out like that. It's been a while since I have felt this out of place in a restaurant before, but my girlfriend said that she felt the same way. Food 3/5 - I had the beef dip. It was tender and juicy. The bread wasn't anything special, but it got the job done. My girlfriend got the classic hamburger. She said it was average, and for the price paid, would have expected more. Our fries were probably the best thing. My gf's ketchup came out with a hair in it, and that kind of killed the vibe of the whole experience when our waitress was a bit rude about getting us another one. Very pleasantly surprised. Stopped in July 3rd for dinner since other places were either closed or very busy, and our main reason for stopping in was wanting outdoor seating. We found a nice table and were promptly watered. I ordered the ribeye medium rare with extra veggies instead of mashed and pop got the halibut. We both were very happy with our choices, and my steak was perfectly cooked. Our server was fantastic and I would gladly sit in his section again. Outdoor seating had a few tables well spaced apart, and the sound of water fountain created a nice ambiance as well as drowning out the sound of traffic on Old Seward. Never been to its former self so can't compare but the restaurant is inside a house with cozy decor but I wouldn't say this place is good for large groups...I think the biggest table I noticed was for 4... Maybe 5 if you sit on the corner; there is bar seating though. Came for Saturday brunch right when it opened at 11 so not too pack - self seating and was greeted soon after by our waitress. Can't say the service was great but it wasn't bad - she offered me more "juice/syrup" to my mimosa midway... That's a win!! Ordered the daily special "hangover bowl" with the meat lovers (reindeer, bacon, ham) with crispy country potatoes, egg and sauce on top. First bite and I was surprised by how much I liked it and washed it down with a peach bellini mimosa.. Yum! read more

I've been here a handful of times now and have never been disappointed with anything on th menu and the drinks are fantastic. I highly recommend sitting outdoors in the summer if you can. I don't think there's a prettier place to lunch in Anchorage in the summertime. The service can be a hit or miss, which is the only reason for not giving this place 5 stars. read more

I was thoroughly dissappointed with this place. We came here for dinner on a Sunday (prime rib only on sundays) we had never been here even when it was Bradley's house, it is down the road from us, and they have a nice big outdoor seating area. I got a pomogranite martini and when she brought it out she said taste it we don't have our normal mix. I don't know what they used instead but it was sweet and didn't taste like alcohol or have any affect on me. Husband got a cucumber jalapeño margarita, his was way better. For dinner husband got the prime rib which came with mashed potatoes and veggies. I think broccoli and asparagus. The meat was pretty much cold to the touch and the potatoes were too. He didn't complain but I would not have been able to eat it. It was very chewy as well. $30. I got the French dip which Is not a normal choice for me. It was actually decent but nothing note worthy. The server asked what kind of cheese, I said cheddar, but it came out with Swiss which is normal I'm surprised they ask you what kind then they don't fulfill the request. Make she just automatically asked as if it was a burger. Also came with fries, they were cold. The menu btw has maybe 10 apps which none of them seems interesting but they were to my husband. For entrees they literally had two pasta dishes, 4 burgers, 1 French dip, a few steaks and prime rib only on sundays. They also had about 4 salads. I would come here to enjoy the sun and sit next to the grass where they have a waterfall stream and get a drink maybe an app. My husband described it as "country club feel" older people out to dinner in groups or a couple with an older kids. Inside they have seating and the atmosphere was great. The food is just so limited and not good. I would try brunch maybe but this is far down on my list to ever come back. The Manhattan Restaurant & Lounge, formerly known as The Bradley House for a number of years, has recently reopened under new ownership. The restaurant is located on Old Seward Highway between O'Malley Centre Dr. and Klatt Rd. across from Wendy's. The dining area has been remodeled with a brighter atmosphere with wood-lined interiors and white walls filled with large colorful pictures to give it a metropolitan feel hence the name. The employees are still the same friendly ones when Bradley House was still in operation. The place was crowded but we were lucky to find the last open table right by the entrance around noon on Sunday. A television screen was displayed at one corner of the room opposite the bar playing football. The table offered a clear view for us to watch the game while waiting for our order. The menu for the most part has stayed the same. Nothing has changed except for the menu specials. I decided to order the Prime Rib Brunch special with two eggs over-medium, hash browns, and toast to take an off-day from my usual low-carb diet options while my friend decided to order the Cashew Chicken Salad (panko and cashew breaded chicken, mixed greens, mandarin oranges, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes with a soy ginger dressing). We also ordered the Pork Belly appetizer with cilantro, cabbage, and chipotle mayo. The Pork Belly came out after just a few minutes wait. The dish was excellent with the pork belly cooked tenderly on a bed of cabbage. The chipotle mayo was a nice complement for flavor. The Prime Rib arrived shortly after and it was good although I requested a medium temperature with a little pink rather than a medium rare. I had to skip a small part of the cut because I thought it was a little undercooked for me. The hash browns were cooked perfectly with a golden crisp and the eggs were also cooked to specification. My friend enjoyed her Cashew Chicken Salad. The bowl it was served in was massive with generous chunks of breaded chicken cutlet and plenty of field greens. For dessert, we ordered the menu special Tiramisu. Again, we were lucky because this was the last one available while their other dessert, Carrot Cake, was readily available. The Tiramisu was outstanding as a coffee sponge cake layered with chocolate coffee cream and whipped cream on top. We had absolutely no room for dinner or a snack for the rest of the day after finishing this massive meal. I would've called this a bruncher (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with all the items we ordered. The only miss of this meal was the prime rib being cooked at the wrong temperature but that won't stop me from coming back for their great menu especially for the Pepperjack Chicken Soup. read more

Recently visited after a couple months break. I've been going here since the days of the former Oriental Gardens, then Bradley House, then the change to Manhattan - and I always loved the Beef Dip with Au Jus. Yesterday, the Au Jus was no longer "Au Jus" but some soupy, dishwater broth, with a few flavorless herbs and spices in it. No robust, beefy flavor, or color of "real Au Jus"!
