I was really excited to try this place after hearing great things from my sister, but unfortunately my first experience was disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we felt overlooked and uncomfortable. We ordered several social hour items, including the deviled eggs, Brussels sprouts, and chicken wings. The deviled eggs contained hummus, which was not clearly stated on the menu and completely changed the flavor. The Brussels sprouts were overly crispy, and while the wings had good flavor, they were undercooked and gummy in texture. The service was equally frustrating. We had to ask for silverware and plates, waited a very long time for drinks and food, and our dirty dishes remained on the table throughout the visit. We watched other guests receive their meals, drinks, and checks before we were even served. The bartender, Greg, did not seem attentive to tables and appeared more focused on the bar crowd. We even placed a second order that never arrived and eventually had to cancel it. By the end of the night, we were one of the only couples still waiting while others who arrived after us had already finished and left. One of the best parts of the evening was the manager coming over to personally speak with us. We truly appreciated being acknowledged, heard, and treated like valued customers. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and most of the staff seemed friendly, but unfortunately the food and service did not meet expectations.BECAUSE OF THE MANAGER (Miss Florida) I WILL GIVE THEM OTHRT TRY ! :) Fingers crossed a better review!

We stopped by for drinks and appetizers and had an enjoyable time. The view overlooking the rail yard and the port is quite cool/unique. The drinks were good and the appetizers were adequate, although some of the flavors felt a bit unbalanced, particularly in whipped feta dish. Overall, a solid addition to the downtown Anchorage food scene.

The happy hour fries are awesome. We could not get enough of the fry sauce. Franco was so fun!

I ate here a few times well staying at the hotel - two times for breakfast (which was included with my hotel status), and once for dinner. Breakfast was fine - fresh avocado toast with really delicious tomatoes, and a filling crab omelet. However, dinner was the real star! I got the seafood chowder, which was warm, hearty and had good portions of seafood in it. For my entree, I opted for the scallops - and they were so delicious. I've been trying to figure out how to recreate the dish, because the combination with the beans was truly just lovely. I did think it was a bit odd that I couldn't take a drink to my room without the bartender walking me to it - they mentioned it was some Alaska rule? However, since I was traveling alone and the hallways in the hotel were a loooooooong walk, I just opted not to get another drink and called it a night instead. I had great service each time I visited - both in the mornings and sitting at the bar for dinner.

Great service. Chill on a Thursday evening. Interesting combo on the menu.... I had scallop and beans and a green salad. We shared a nachos as starter that is quite filling. The pizza also looked delicious and my friend raved about it. Would come back again. Server mentioned that they have live music on Wed. Would love to check that out and support local live music.

Excellent breakfast. Got a avocado toast with an extra egg. They just charged $1 for the extra egg, which was a pleasant surprise. All the dishes pictured were well made. I also got a side of fruit bowl, which was a generous quantity and a good mix of fruits.

I would give it 3, but we really need fresh blood downtown! The good: Decent taps Fantastic ambiance Good food The bad: Most taps are from a single brewery (Midnight Sun) Food can be very, VERY expensive. (there's an $80+ steak, folks) I got a steak salad and it was really good. However, the salad part, the lettuce was...very minimalist. There was almost no lettuce and lots of everything else. This made the salad taste a bit too rich and decadent for my taste, it really through off the dressing-balance. Worth a shot if you're in this part of downtown, or even if you aren't. I'm glad some people aren't giving up on downtown!

We came here for Mother's Day. Big mistake. Our server was nice enough, but she should have warned us the first few times she came to the table that they were out of what seemed like half the menu. We ordered drinks and even an appetizer before being told they were out of several entrees. I had my eye on the short ribs, but had to settle on the steak. By the time we put in our food order, we had been seated for about 30 minutes. I'm not sure why things were coming out of the kitchen so slowly. It was about 45 minutes before we got our entrees. So glad we got the fries for an appetizer. They were decent. It reminded me of jojo potatoes. They also brought out pretzel sticks on the house. These were also decent and probably the hottest temperature wise item we received. The steak wasn't hot enough for the herbed butter to melt. I wanted medium rare, but I got medium. It was the same for my brother's steak. His was over as well. The "risotto" it was served on was more like rice pilaf. It wasn't creamy at all like you would expect. It also wasn't seasoned. It was very bland along with the broccolini. I had to load up on the salt and pepper, which I don't do normally. My partner got the cauliflower steak. It didn't look appetizing enough for me to try, but he reported it being bland and the best thing on the plate was the cheese on top. No way were we going to stay for dessert. We finally got out of there at the 2 hour mark after waiting forever for boxes and the check. I don't mind slow service if the food makes up for it. This was definitely not the case here and we will probably never come back.

They brought me open and used jam.

Quick review update - Nothing has changed here. Mediocre food and service. I ordered a couple of eggs and smoked salmon. Eggs were cooked fine. The smoked salmon was old. It hadn't quite started to turn, but was very close. Almost didn't eat it, but decided I'd probably be OK. Server brought me two single serving jams for my toast. The strawberry one had been opened and used. Gross and unsanitary. If I had to pay for the breakfast, I wouldn't come here but it is free and it is really cold outside.

Update (the following day): service was much improved on the hostess part! I had an old fashioned. It was excellent. Bartenders here are great! If I could, I would give this place 4.5 stars. I think considering they just opened, they are doing an excellent job. I was staying at the hotel. Dropped by the restaurant Crimson attached to the hotel. They just recentlly opened. When I came in service was initially not good. The host and cashier stared and unsure what to do. No one acknowledged my presence. The regular bartender Jeff finally appeared. What a friendly guy! Excellent memory for names. He made up for the indifference of the hostess. I ordered the burger and fries and beer. Beer was very good, local beers on draft from Midnight Sun Brewing Company was very good. The burger itself didn't have a lot of flavor, but a little salt and pepper fixed it. Restaurant was very clean. I would come back again and try some of the other items on the menu.

Trivia: what brewery currently holds all their taps? This is going to be a hidden gem. At this point, it's obviously brand new. Everything looks pristine. The TVSs have prompts to put in the DirecTV setup. But the fries, the burger, the old fashioned --are above par. The service is great. The food arrives quickly. Lots of natural light and a decent view of the inlet. And, while often overlooked, the chairs and seats are very comfortable. The menu has a little bit of everything so no one should be disappointed. Everything I saw come out looked and smelled amazing. The seafood stew looked to have a healthy portion of mussels. Couple weird things: 1. Already mentioned the TVs 2. I was never asked or given water even though there was a bottle of water right in front of me. 3. The smashed fingerlings are deep fried potatoes. I expected something different. 4. Their speaker for music is a JBL under the liquor selection which means at the bar the music is loud and everywhere else, nearly nonexistent. 5. They don't give you a draft list when you sit down. Only a wine menu. But they have a draft list. Only Midnight Sun brews.

Let it be known that this was my first time dining at Crimson for an anniversary dinner. To start on a positive note, our server -- a tall bald gentleman -- was extremely nice, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu. Great customer service definitely helped the experience. We began with the Brussels sprouts, which were actually delicious, until we unfortunately found a gray hair in the dish. That immediately took away from what started as a strong first impression. For the main course, I ordered the Crimson Burger with sweet potato fries. The burger itself lacked seasoning and tasted underwhelming. Letting the burger rest is one thing, but this felt like it sat too long, leaving the center cold. A simple combination of kosher salt, Tellicherry black pepper, and fine smoked garlic powder would have helped create a flavorful crust and elevated the burger significantly. The roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley was the biggest disappointment of the evening. The chicken was extremely dry -- almost like chicken jerky -- and noticeably small for the price point. The mashed potatoes lacked butter, salt, and overall flavor, tasting more like boxed instant potatoes that had been slightly dressed up. The restaurant itself is beautiful, open, and has a nice atmosphere, but the bench seating was uncomfortable. I also noticed food debris under our table. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, and cleanliness is one of those details that should always be maintained throughout service. Honestly, the best part of the meal was the Espresso Martini and the Sprite. With restaurant prices being as high as they are today, the quality of the food should meet or exceed customer expectations. Food shouldn't just be pushed out for the sake of service -- every dish should be tasted and checked, not only by the chef, but by the kitchen team as a whole, so everyone stays aligned on quality and consistency. Wishing the restaurant the best moving forward, because there is definitely potential here -- but there are also some things that clearly need improvement. Happy Anniversary Dinner.

This place is amazing very cool set up. The service was excellent and all of our plates were excellent. This is a must visit if you come to Alaska. The reindeer hash skillet was very tasty if I could compare it to something I would say it tastes like an upscale of a good hot-link but lighter and better.

Hey there friends! We had an amazing dinner at the Glacier Brew house. Before I start, I will say…read morethat it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!

Glacier is not showing on the outside, just Brew House. Great place. The entrance is just inside…read morethe building on the left. I had the shrimp and grits. These are the real slow cooked grits not the out of a box quickie grits. Shrimp, slivers of andouille, and an egg (it says with bacon but I did not notice any). Marvelous flavors. Will do again. Carolyn had the brick oven tomato and mozzarella cheese pizza and love it. The bar had a little trouble with my drink, a Rusty Nail, but in they got it right Food is good and well prepared. Service can be a bit slow but then it was very busy. Lots of staff just busy. Great rustic interior with wood beams and open floor plan. Booths on the left for the restaurant (Reservations highly suggested). Bar and seating on the right with tables and some small booths. One TV (thank you), it was turned to a poker competition.
