That said, management should be ashamed for leaving them stranded without any support. Adding a "Wait to Be Seated" sign doesn't fix understaffing--it just creates a bottleneck. People are literally standing at the door waiting for the sole server to seat them, and some walk out before getting a chance to dine. Please give this server the support they deserve! Very disappointing experience. I was sitting at the bar with two other people. I ordered a beer, while the other two asked for waters and menus so they could look over the food and decide what they wanted to order. About 10 minutes went by. I had received my beer, but they still had no waters and no menus. When the bartender came back around, I asked for another beer. Before I could even ask again about the menus, she said, "I have to make money," then commented about them not drinking and gestured toward the door. What made this even more frustrating was that they were planning to be paying customers. They had specifically asked for menus and water and were waiting to order. There was plenty of room at the bar, no one was waiting for our seats, and the other tables were already full. Instead of arguing or making a scene, I paid my bill, didn't say a word, and we left. It was an incredibly rude and unwelcoming way to treat customers, especially when the lack of ordering was because they hadn't received the menus they asked for in the first place. For an airport restaurant it was pretty good. I had a fresh raspberry lemonade and a pizza with reindeer sausage. Both were surprisingly good with the pizza being a nice size for one. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo, but Silver Gulch Brewing has hands down the best Biscuit and Gravy I've had in my life. Anchorage isn't exactly the biggest airport, and it's one of the farthest places from "the south", so I was initially hesitant about the biscuits and gravy, but I'm SO happy I got it. The staff was nice, I got food to go, but my oh my was that a biscuit to remember! The biscuit was pillowy/fluffy, but not so much so that it was falling apart. It was nice and buttery as well. The gravy was perfect. Not over or under seasoned, and the perfect mix of sausage mixed into the gravy. The sausage texture was perfect too, small little pieces and very uniform. I am from Alaska and have been to this restaurant before. I usually spend a good deal of money for dinner and I always tip very well. Today, I walked inside and sat down at a table with four chairs. There were maybe five customers in the entire place. Almost every table was empty. The floors were filthy. The waitress told me I had to move because that table was for three or four people. Let me give you some advice. Go somewhere else for something to eat or drink before your flight. Our server was awful (older lady of the three waiters). Every time I asked for something (napkins, water, the check), I was met with no response and she would just walk away. Did you hear me? Then, she would drop off what I wanted and just walk away without saying anything. I was asking for the bare basic items. I would have ordered another beer, but she never came by to ask. The portions, however, slightly disappointed, especially calamari were for one bite. The interior is cute and the table design is somewhat interesting. Really did enjoy the view over the runway. Check the bill as you might get overcharged for your order and that's precisely what happened to us. Would recommend you to try the hush puppies with the cranberry sauce, tasted very unique. Halibut fish and chips are very good. One of the few airport restaurants that is real restaurant quality food. They were fast as well.

For airport food this place knocked it out of the park. Cheap (relative to airport prices) beer and good selection. Lots of food options but I wasn't that hungry so opted for a half order of the seafood hush puppies. The raspberry sauce served with them is so good. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food. Can't beat the view in here. If you like grabbing a bite to eat and staring at some airplanes as they taxi around and so forth. Also, it might be the only sit down restaurant with a view (that isn't people watching). Norton and Humpy's are both inside facing. Service is speedy. So speedy, in fact, that I hadn't even looked at the menu. I'm sure for the peeps who need to catch a flight, that is good. The service, while fast, wasn't very friendly. It felt like they wanted to just get orders and move to the next things. It also felt like they are used to people drinking and eating really quickly as the server seemed surprised when I asked for a refill on water. The star of the show for food? The rye bread. Everything else was pretty low grade, processed, simple. The bacon looked and tasted like the microwave variety from my childhood. Remember when that was all the rage? "This bacon is microwavable and ready in 35 seconds!" (but it doesn't have much flavor or density). A fast and speedy spot for breakfast. An easy spot to get a simple meal before a flight. Nothing special. After finishing the meal, the bottle shop is a nice area to peruse. Lots of local libations. Everything from locally made whiskeys to many local bottle and cans. read more

It's a tired cliché in Yelp reviews, and I try to avoid using it but...I just can't here: "Boy, has this place gone downhill". I'm not sure what has happened to them over the last few years bout...they are almost always out of over half of the things in the menu. The menu is more like a guide to what was on tap years ago. The bartenders will gleefully tell you "OUT OF THAT, SORRY" for the first 3 beers you probably try to order. It was already odd that a brewery from Fairbanks had a place in the Anchorage airport, but now...they don't even have much Silver Gulch on tap. The last 3 times I've been they had one on tap from Silver Gulch, and the rest were from Trump-lovin' Matanuska Brewery. Food is sub-par. Service is spotty. This place needs new management, badly. In all honesty I'm glad someone has a savory vegetarian food at the airport that isn't just cheese. I got a veggie burger and fries. It was about $20. The service was nice and fast. The fries were good but the burger was dry and they only had ketchup for it. There was some kind of seasoning on it that gave me horrible indigestion. I ate about half and had to throw the rest away. A better place to eat at the airport than McDonald's but the food didn't match the nice vibe of the actual restaurant. The boneless buffalo wings were average, the corn dogs for kids were overly fried and they needed to change their oil but we loved the potato wedges. I got the loaded potato wedges and was really excited for them but the bacon on them was not cooked all the way and was jiggly and pretty much raw. I saw others pick the bacon out of theirs as well. Meh. It's decent food especially for being in an airport, but I really hope their Fairbanks location is better in the food quality department. For the airport it is one of the few sit down restaurant selections. They have added a Humpy's to the airport now. The Silver Gulch beer is good, and they offer a great selection. But, typically I am not at the airport to drink. If that is your thing go belly up to their bar. They also have a shop that offers a lot of great to go selections from local breweries in town. So if you need something local to bring to your final destination definitely give their shop a browse. Their food menu is average. Their main focus is pizza, and they have a very nice selection of different pizzas with a variety of toppings. The pizza in terms of quality and taste is not very good. Really nothing stand out about it. The dough is pretty chewy in my opinion. They do give a decent portion of toppings on their pizza. But the taste is average. I also ordered a 1/2 order of seafood hush puppies. Definitely more emphasis on the hush puppy than the seafood part. They should just remove the seafood all together. Service was decent, and the food came out fast, which is good if you need to catch a flight in short time. Their food is certainly better than what they will give you on the airplane, but you are almost better off picking up sandwiches at the Fred Meyer deli. This is a place to make sure you don't starve on the airplane, or to grab some beers while you wait for your flight. read more

My husband and I needed lunch to take aboard our flight to Seattle. We checked out the menu for Silver Gulch and thought the carry-on pocket sandwiches sounded like a good idea, so I went to the take out counter a little before 10 am. Only breakfast menus were lying on the counter, so I asked about getting lunch. The man behind the counter acted like it was a big deal to ask and said he needed to talk to the chef before I could order lunch. The chef agreed to make two South Bound (I think that is the name; they are vegetarian sandwiches). I ordered them without mushrooms. While I was waiting for them, the man behind the counter turned on the overhead menus for lunch. (So what was the big deal and drama about me ordering lunch a few minutes early?) Friendlier customer service is advised if you want to know what you can do better. We carried our sandwiches on board and opened them shortly after takeoff, maybe an hour after ordering. They were the one soggiest messes we have ever eaten. The vegetables were fresh and the "no mushrooms" request was honored, but I can't figure out why something that is designed for takeout and carryon would be so soggy. I finished most of mine, making a mess because veggie bits kept falling on my lap, the seat, or the floor. My husband took one bite and threw the rest away. Less-soggy sandwiches are also a good idea. read more

I have 16 hours till my next flight to LA where I connect to my flight to DFW. It was reindeer sausage, two eggs over easy+, wheat toast, and coffee, lots of coffee SG was good, not great, as I normally expect at an airport restaurant. But it got me through the moment.
