The server gave an exasperated sigh and looked at me with such contempt. No one deserves that, ever. Consider eating elsewhere. I ordered a simple waffle and chicken stripe and I watched as several people who ordered items that require actual cooking, get their order prior to me. Anchorage isn't exactly the biggest airport, and it's one of the farthest places from "the south", so I was initially hesitant about the biscuits and gravy, but I'm SO happy I got it. The staff was nice, I got food to go, but my oh my was that a biscuit to remember! The biscuit was pillowy/fluffy, but not so much so that it was falling apart. It was nice and buttery as well. The gravy was perfect. Not over or under seasoned, and the perfect mix of sausage mixed into the gravy. The sausage texture was perfect too, small little pieces and very uniform. Stopped by for a quick snack before the flight and replace it my surprised by a interacting service (thank you Helena), good beer (especially the Epicenter) and nice view over the runway. The portions, however, slightly disappointed, especially calamari were for one bite. The interior is cute and the table design is somewhat interesting. Really did enjoy the view over the runway. Check the bill as you might get overcharged for your order and that's precisely what happened to us. Would recommend you to try the hush puppies with the cranberry sauce, tasted very unique. Lots of food options but I wasn't that hungry so opted for a half order of the seafood hush puppies. The raspberry sauce served with them is so good. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food. In all honesty I'm glad someone has a savory vegetarian food at the airport that isn't just cheese. I got a veggie burger and fries. It was about $20. The service was nice and fast. The fries were good but the burger was dry and they only had ketchup for it. There was some kind of seasoning on it that gave me horrible indigestion. I ate about half and had to throw the rest away. It felt like they wanted to just get orders and move to the next things. It also felt like they are used to people drinking and eating really quickly as the server seemed surprised when I asked for a refill on water. The star of the show for food? The rye bread. Everything else was pretty low grade, processed, simple. The bacon looked and tasted like the microwave variety from my childhood. Remember when that was all the rage? "This bacon is microwavable and ready in 35 seconds!" (but it doesn't have much flavor or density). A fast and speedy spot for breakfast. An easy spot to get a simple meal before a flight. The bartenders will gleefully tell you "OUT OF THAT, SORRY" for the first 3 beers you probably try to order. It was already odd that a brewery from Fairbanks had a place in the Anchorage airport, but now...they don't even have much Silver Gulch on tap. The last 3 times I've been they had one on tap from Silver Gulch, and the rest were from Trump-lovin' Matanuska Brewery. Food is sub-par. Service is spotty. This place needs new management, badly. The boneless buffalo wings were average, the corn dogs for kids were overly fried and they needed to change their oil but we loved the potato wedges. My husband and I needed lunch to take aboard our flight to Seattle. We checked out the menu for Silver Gulch and thought the carry-on pocket sandwiches sounded like a good idea, so I went to the take out counter a little before 10 am. Only breakfast menus were lying on the counter, so I asked about getting lunch. The man behind the counter acted like it was a big deal to ask and said he needed to talk to the chef before I could order lunch. The chef agreed to make two South Bound (I think that is the name; they are vegetarian sandwiches). I ordered them without mushrooms. While I was waiting for them, the man behind the counter turned on the overhead menus for lunch. (So what was the big deal and drama about me ordering lunch a few minutes early?) Friendlier customer service is advised if you want to know what you can do better. We carried our sandwiches on board and opened them shortly after takeoff, maybe an hour after ordering. They were the one soggiest messes we have ever eaten. The vegetables were fresh and the "no mushrooms" request was honored, but I can't figure out why something that is designed for takeout and carryon would be so soggy. I finished most of mine, making a mess because veggie bits kept falling on my lap, the seat, or the floor. My husband took one bite and threw the rest away. For the airport it is one of the few sit down restaurant selections. They have added a Humpy's to the airport now. The Silver Gulch beer is good, and they offer a great selection. But, typically I am not at the airport to drink. If that is your thing go belly up to their bar. They also have a shop that offers a lot of great to go selections from local breweries in town. So if you need something local to bring to your final destination definitely give their shop a browse. Their food menu is average. Their main focus is pizza, and they have a very nice selection of different pizzas with a variety of toppings. The pizza in terms of quality and taste is not very good. Really nothing stand out about it. The dough is pretty chewy in my opinion. They do give a decent portion of toppings on their pizza. But the taste is average. I also ordered a 1/2 order of seafood hush puppies. Definitely more emphasis on the hush puppy than the seafood part. They should just remove the seafood all together. Service was decent, and the food came out fast, which is good if you need to catch a flight in short time. Their food is certainly better than what they will give you on the airplane, but you are almost better off picking up sandwiches at the Fred Meyer deli. Lacking! Lacking food (my first 3 things I tried to order were unavailable: clam chowder (out), beer cheese soup (out), and Solstice pizza (out of all pizzas). I was also told they were out of something else (can't recall what it was anymore). Lacking! Quality. I ordered the chicken strips meal and it was disappointing. The chicken was hard and chewy. The potato wedges were amazing though! Cole slaw left something to be desired. My beer was good but overall I just felt like I would have spent less and enjoyed it more if I would have went to McDonald's across the walkway at the airport. I don't even like fast food all that much but it just was a disappointing experience here. My server was prompt and efficient, but she was only one of two in the entire place. She seemed overworked and as such I appreciated her attention and resolved to be quick in my ordering to not waste her time. I went to the original Silver Gulch in the Fairbanks area a long time ago and it was amazing! What happened? So that was last night... My friend went tonight as he was flying out a day after me. He said nearly ever beer he went to order was out. His food was "meh" and the bartender explained a beer to him as "an IPA without the hops!" (What does that even mean?). So we are 2 for 2 in the negative on this restaurant. I won't be back, even though I travel through Anchorage regularly. I hope ownership or upper management stops by soon and fixes the issues. Having been in Nome Alaska for the last six weeks, I was looking forward to a good meal and nice beer at affordable prices. Looking at the reviews for Silver Gulch and comparing the other options and menus at the airport, Silver Gulch, by far, had the most diverse menu and decent prices for an airport. Unfortunately, they lived up to their 3 star average. As I sat down I sat for quite awhile before I was even acknowledged and the service was at a Nome Alaska, no hurry pace, instead of the typical airport service. I ordered a 40 Below Stout and the Carne Diavlo Brick Oven Pizza. The stout was good and originally I rated it at a 3.75 on Untapped but unlike most stouts and porters, it did not warm well . I was trying to stretch it out to enjoy with my pizza but I had to drink it quickly to enjoy. I changed my rating to a 3.5. The Carne Diavlo pizza was Ground Beef, Bacon, Jalapeno, Feta, Gruyere, and Mozzarella. It was an ok pizza but the beef was unseasoned, the bacon was very crispy and lacking flavor, and the Jalapeno dominated the flavor profile. I love spicy dishes, but the flavor profile was Jalapeno. The crust was ok but a little greasy, the sauce was good and the cheeses were decent but clearly not high quality. By no means did I leave hungry and dissapointed but I did not leave excited to stop by on my next trip through Anchorage. This airport spot for food and drinks stays open late enough to support the early morning flights out. They have a small menu of bar food and a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, most of which incorporate Alaskan products. The drinks aren't bad and prices are about what you would expect for an airport bar. The woman attending had to be one of the most unfriendly people to ever set foot behind a bar though. read more

For this being in an airport, this place was great. The food was quite tasty and the service was spectacular. An excellent selection of beers and drinks. We had several of the things on the menu as we could not make up our minds and just passed them around. It was all quite good food. An excellent place in the terminal, especially when other places are simply closed up tight. We had to wait for a seat, but not for long.
